LaDell W. Willhite, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, May 19, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a retired employee of Furr’s Cafeteria and a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda K. Rich of Fort Smith and Connie J. Fesler of Mount Vernon, Ohio; a son, Billy T. Hixon of Pryor, Okla.; a sister, Corine Nixon of Tulsa; three brothers, James R. Hixon of Sands Springs, Roy Hixon of Ozark and Ronnie Hixon of Tulsa; five stepbrothers and stepsisters; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd Fesler, Bryan and Kent Hixon, Josh and Caleb Rich and Randy Robbins.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1274, Fort Smith, AR 72902, or Arkansas Lung Association, 211 Natural Resources, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Earl Warren
ARCADIA, Okla. — Earl Lester Warren, 77, of Acradia, Okla., formerly of Stigler, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Arcadia.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Antioch cemetery in Stigler under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Carmen Warren Mauphin and Earlene Warren Skinner; two stepdaughters, Wanda M. Mercer and Cindy M. Cody; three sons, David, Dan and John Warren; three stepsons, Hugh, Robert and Theodore Burns; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Markham, Charles, Larry and John Warren, Taylor Burns and Josh Skinner.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Robin Howell
MULDROW — Robin S. Howell, 47, of Muldrow died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a graduate of Muldrow High School and was a field rep for First National Bank in Fort Smith for 28 years. She was Missionary Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Muldrow with burial at Seabolt cemetery north of Muldrow.
She is survived by her husband, Lesley; a daughter, Leslie Lynn Howell of the home; her parents, J.D. and Bonnie Rogers of Muldrow; two sisters, Carole Orms and Geraldine Maness, both of Muldrow.
Pallbearers will be Paul Harris, Daniel Boswell, Harold Rogers, Danny Shamblin, J.R. Fouts and James Osborne.

Bertha Askins
CLARKSVILLE — Bertha Bynum Askins, 94, of Clarksville died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Ozark. She was born Dec. 28, 1906. She was a member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Stillwell Bible Baptist Church with burial at Stillwell cemetery in Stillwell, Ark., under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a son, John K. Askins of Clarksville; two sisters, Anna Marie England and Leola Hilton, both of Clarksville; two brothers, Robert and Ralph Bynum, both of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Mike Askins of Denver, Steve Askins and Lisa Vandeveer, both of Clarksville, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be David and Adrian Lasater, Adam and Steven Askins, Zach Vandeveer and Roy W. Johnson.

Jennalee Harris
KEOTA — Jennalee “Jenny” Harris, 34, of Keota died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Keota.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Unity Baptist Church in Keota with burial at Keota City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Keota.
She is survived by a son, Cody Brock; her father, James Harris; a brother, Raymond Harris; her maternal grandmother, Rosie Nixon.
Pallbearers will be Alan Robinson, Robert Reed, Mark Woodall, Clark McClary, Junior Bruner and Glen Bryant.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.

Ken Baney
STIGLER — Ken Baney, 58, of Stigler died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today in Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Garland cemetery in Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Debbie Jobes and Melinda Baney; a son, Jimmy Horton; a brother, Dale Baney; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Horton, John Bush, Eddie Brizendine and Mike Burger.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Ester Sutton
DEQUEEN — Ester Lucinda Sutton, 88, of DeQueen died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in DeQueen. She was born Jan. 7, 2001, in Wickes. She was a member of DeQueen Church of Christ and the widow of Hershel Sutton and Leonard Carroll.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a sister, Eugenia Woodruff of Nashville; a brother, Milburn Tidwell of Wickes; and several nieces and nephews.

Roberta Salzman
Roberta Salzman, 88, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in Van Buren. She was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employee and a member of First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a niece, Betty Nelson of Mount Ida; and a great-nephew, Phillip Jones, Jr. of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Jones Jr., Larry Deason, Archie Nelson, Billy Kunkel, Will Babitzke and David Helliker.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith.

Margaret Riddle
Margaret Ruth Riddle, 62, of Fort Smith died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a cook for the Fort Smith Public School system and attended Calvary Temple Church in Greenwood.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Muriel; two daughters, Eva Rainwater of Poteau and Karen Gipson of Mansfield; two sons, Sidney Paul Riddle of Fort Smith and Muriel “Buck” Riddle Jr. of Spiro; four sisters, Goldie Williams, Barbara Phelan, Norma Wilkins and Marilyn Parson, all of Fort Smith; three brothers, Sonny Stevens of Van Buren, Buster Stevens of Lubbock, Texas, and Hardie Stevens of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger, Denver and Paul Riddle, Keenan Polk, Mike and Michael Gipson.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert Cox
MOUNTAINBURG — Robert Lake Cox, 78, of Mountainburg died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in his home. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired diesel mechanic. He was the widower of Jeralee Cox.
The body was cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He was survived by a daughter, Valorie “Lori” Cox of Crown Point, Ind.; three brothers, Tom Cox of Arkansas, Russ and Mike Cox, both of Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Tanya Cox Endris and Nikki Cox, both of Indiana.

Doyle Thornburg
WISTER — Doyle Franklin Thornburg, 76, of Wister died Friday, May 18, 2001, in his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Fanshawe. He was with the Fire Department/Fire Chief.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Maxey cemetery in Wister.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; two daughters, Connie Hailey of Wister and Phyllis Adams of Haines; three sons, Jim and Tim Thornburg, both of Wister and John Thornburg of Herald, Calif.; three sisters, Lucille Wisham of California, Dorothy Shaw of Shamrock, Texas, and Mamie Sumpter of Fanshawe; three brothers, Troy Thornburg of Fanshawe, Hubert Thornburg of Spiro and Donald Thornburg of Manteca, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Garrett, Justin, Chad, James and Jeremy Thornburg, Sonny and Paul Veercamp and Josh Wann.

David Lovegrove
ALMA — David Lovegrove, 73, of Alma died Friday, May 18, 2001, in his home. He was a retired truck driver for Gordons Transport of Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy Lovegrove of Tuttle, Okla.; a son, David Lovegrove of Fort Smith; two sisters, Delma Fields of Van Buren and Gertrude Brown of Alma; two brothers, Jack Lovegrove of Oklahoma City and Sonny Stephens of Haskell, Okla.; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Harold and Matthew Poyner, Robert Hood, Paul Underwood, Gerald McClure and Bob Shambarger.
The body may be viewed until the funeral hour.

Ray McCurley
Ray McCurley, 86, of Fort Smith entered into rest Thursday, May 17, 2001, in his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Grannis, the son of the late, Sam and Leona Smith McCurley. He was a retired service manager for Dewitt Oldsmobile Inc. and a member of Spradling Avenue Baptist Church. Ray is survived by one daughter, Pat Slaughter of Van Buren; his twin sister, May Cain of Del City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Deborah, David, Mark and Steve; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, at Spradling Avenue Baptist Church, with graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Green Hill cemetery in Muskogee, Okla., officiated by the Rev. Ron Williamson. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Spradling Avenue Baptist Church, 3515 Waldron Road, Fort Smith, AR 72904. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Clifford “Cliff” Casey
Clifford “Cliff” Casey, 84, of Fort Smith departed this life Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Mulberry. He was born March 22, 1917, in White Rock Community, the son of the late Grant and Fay Taff Casey. Cliff was a former employee of H C Nutting Co. and a member of West-Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two sons and their wives, Jeff and Candy Casey of Norwood, Ohio, and Barry and Mary Casey of Cincinnati; stepson and wife, David and Donna Beneux of Mulberry; a stepdaughter, Helen Beneux Pratt and husband Jim Pratt of Fort Smith; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five sisters, Norma Marks of West Monroe, La., Mildred Hembree of Brooks, Ky., Sue Miller of Ozark, Dean Kincy of Dyer and June Magby of Mulberry. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and past elders of West-Ark Church of Christ. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in West-Ark Church of Christ with burial at White Rock cemetery officiated by Mr. Roy Dunavin and Mr. David Chadwell. Family will receive friends from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to West-Ark Church of Christ Mission Fund, 900 N. Waldron Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Bruce W. Bishop
Bruce W. Bishop, 52, of Panama died Friday, May 28, 2004. He was a carpenter, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fort Smith, a Navy veteran of the Vietname War and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Pierce Bishop; his mother, Bobbie Bishop England of Arkoma; two brothers, Harold M. Bishop of Raceland, La., and Brian L. Bishop of Arkoma; a stepsister, Anita Ahrens and husband Dwayne of Russellville; five nephews and three nieces.

James A. Branch
James A. Branch, 64, of Fort Smith died Saturday, May 29, 2004, in his home. He was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Fort Smith. He was a retired postal worker, an Army veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sue of the home; five daughters, Terri Mullins and Jamie Lawley, both of Van Buren, and Kelly Melton, Judy Branch and Miranda Johnson, all of Fort Smith; his mother, Reba Branch of Fort Smith; a sister, Reba McMahand of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Amber and Kristen Mullins, Courtney and Emily Melton, Jennifer Tackett, Trevor Branch, Johnson Lawley and Caleb James Lawley; and two great-grandchildren, Brock and Bryce Tackett.
Pallbearers will be Ray Stovall, Mike Shelly, Louis Greenwood, Chris Cross, Buzz Karsten and Danny Abshere.
Honorary pallbearers will be Will Williams and Terry and Kurt Law.
The body may be viewed at the church before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Mercy Hospice.
