CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Mafalda Barbieri, 92, of Clarksdale died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Mississippi. She was born Nov. 10, 1911, in Arcola, Miss. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the widow of Victor Barbieri Sr.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with burial at Memorial Gardens under the direction of Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale, Miss.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Todd of Fort Smith; a son, Victor Barbieri of Clarksdale, Miss.; a sister, Rhoda Sledge of Ridgeland, Miss.; a brother, Guiato Furini of Clarksdale, Miss.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE —Brad Ashley Taylor, 33, of Booneville died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in Booneville. He was a construction worker and a member of Christian Life Fellowship in Booneville.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rocky Springs cemetery in Sugar Grove under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Valerie Simmons of the home; a son, Travis Simmons of the home; his mother, Carolyn Fleming of Booneville; twos sisters, Eva Shott and Carol Cox, both of Booneville; two brothers, Brian and Doug Taylor, both of Booneville.
Pallbearers will be Rob Fleming, Mike Crowley, Eddie Reynolds, James Osbourne, Justin Leftwich, John Schlinker, Danny Powell and John Woods.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SPIRO — Emma Lou Cooper, 62, of Spiro died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Lighthouse at the Crossroads.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie; five daughters, Carolyn Ward, Cindy Stanley, Stacy Cooper, and Candice Ward, all of Spiro, and Jackie Harrison of Pocola; two sons, James and Harry Cooper, both of Spiro; two sisters, Caroline Cooper of Spiro and Carolyn Cooper of Roberts, La.; two brothers, Johnny and Harry Cooper, both of Spiro; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Jackie Ward, Henry Harrison, Jessie and Little Cooper and Johnny Sullivan.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Burrus Martin
WISTER — Burrus Chowning “Babe” Martin, 94, of Wister died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in Poteau. He was born Dec. 6, 1909, in Celina, Tenn. He was a construction worker, a carpenter and a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Forsgren Bros. Construction Co. for 35 years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Joe Martin of Wister; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bob, Johnny, Poose, Duck and Thad Martin and Bill Wilson.
GREGOIO SANCHEZ JR.
MENA — Gregoio Sanchez Jr., son of Gregoio and Socorro Sanchez Sr. of Wickes, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at a Mena hospital.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Grannis cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
In additon to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Cesar Oscar Sanchez of the home; two sisters, Cinthia G. Sanchez and Jennifer Sanchez, both of the home; and his grandparents, Isidro Sanchez, Guadalupe Bustos and Francisco Flores, all of Mexico, and Crisofora Aviles of Wickes.

Robert E. Dye, 76, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Connie M. Goff of Roland and Elaine E. Gregory of Muldrow; three sons, Robert E. Dye Jr. of Muldrow, Roy Don Dye and Kenny Alan Dye, both of Fort Smith; one sister, Mildred Ritchie of Oklahoma City; three brothers, John Dye of Florida, William Dye and James Dye, both of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

ST. LOUIS — Michael Wayne Fluaitt, 43, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in St. Louis.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jane Fluaitt; three daughters, Jane Michael Fluaitt of the home, Marsh Fox of Fort Smith and Rachel Fluaitt of Dyer; his parents, Floyd and Bernadette Fluaitt; one sister, LyndaKaye Kahl of McAlester, Okla.; five brothers, Arthur P. Fluaitt of Iowa City, Iowa, William Bruce Fluaitt of Kentucky, Floyd Edwards Fluaitt III of Rockford, Ill., Russell Wayne Fluaitt of McAlester and David Joseph Fluaitt of Dyer; and two granddaughters, Mayfra Fox and Lydia Fluaitt.

Mary Margaret Pate Thron, 79, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a retired school teacher at Fairview Elementary School and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; one daughter, Cindy Barker of Fort Smith; and one granddaughter, Sabrina Cross of Fort Smith.

Louise Leona Picco, 66, of Van Buren died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Nelson Hall Homes.
The body will be cremated.

CLARKSVILLE — Robert E. Syfert, 58, of Clarksville died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for 26 years. He also was retired from Syfert Oil Co., which he owned and operated for 16 years. He was a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 9 and the Fort Smith Consistory Club, was a 32nd degree Mason and had served on the Boys Club Board of Directors.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Shepherd Syfert; one daughter, Robin Young of Clarksville; one son, Brian of Clarksville; one sister, Linda Lawrence of Melbourne; one brother, Gary of Van Buren; and four grandchildren, Tara and Blake Young and Saylor and Hunter Syfert, all of Clarksville.
Honorary pallbearers will be members and retired members of the Clarksville Fire Department.

Katherine Baker Hill, 90, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Hope Moravian Church of Hope, Ind.
Memorial service will be at a later date in Garden Brook under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Hill and Richard Brigger; and several nieces and nephews.

Berry of Fort Smith; three sisters, Caroline I. Crenshaw of Greenwood, Martha E. King and Jessie Hale, both of Fort Smith; one brother, Earl L. Poteete of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

SALLISAW — William “Bill” Birdtail, 82, of Vian died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Sallisaw. He was a retired construction worker and worked for OG&E. He was a Baptist and the widower of Flora Washington Birdtail.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Agent Chapel in Gore with burial at Redbird Smith cemetery north of Vian.
He is survived by four daughters, Marie Elbon of Blackgum, Okla., Susie Abshere of Muskogee, Okla., Rosie Watts and Lora Cortez, both of Gore; seven sons, Richard of Newalla, Okla., Leon of Marble City, Okla., Henry of Porum, Okla., George and Hank, both of Tybee Island, Ga., Marvin of Mountainburg and Roy of Alma; two sisters, Maggie McElhaney of Vian and Susie Spencer of Fort Gibson; one brother, Lee Birdtail of Muskogee; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Luis Cortez, Richard Elbon, Eric Spears, and Marvin, Roy, Jerrald, Robert and Norman Birdtail.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 p.m. today, and an all-night wake will be at the funeral home.

SPIRO — Luke Franklin Gorham, 83, of Spiro died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Graveside service was held Saturday at Cowlington cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; two sons, James of Sand Springs, Okla., and Perry of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Fannie Nell Hall of Peking, Ill., and Ana Bell Reed of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken Hargis, Jim Stilwell, J.D. Grist, Davis Kelly and Tommy Ferguson.
BETTY WELLS
Betty L. Wells, 74, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in her home. She was a retired secretary for St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served for 11 1/2 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Builders Sunday school class, U.M.W., Joy Group and the church choir and was an RSVP volunteer. She was also a retired Fort Smith Public Schools secretary.
Commital service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roselawn cemetery, for family only. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Garland; two sons, Ronald and Karl, both of Fort Smith; one sister, Mary Belle Jordan of Maryland; one brother, Bob Wineinger of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Kim Brown, Amanda Gray and Rachel Wells; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Wallace Gattis, Allyn Donaubauer, Robert Wells, L.E. “Buster” More, Ron Burkert and Jack Lasey.
