BOONEVILLE — Elvia Jo Barfield, 79, of Booneville died Monday, July 19, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was retired from Whirlpool, and coached girl’s softball.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church in Booneville with burial at Paint Rock cemetery in Magazine under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by a daughter, Donnette Smith of Booneville; a son, James Bramlett of Booneville; a sister, Irene Billdreen of Delhi, La.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jackie and Jeremy Kirbo, Robbie Fleming, John Debnar, James Rogers and Allen Wilhite.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
L. Duane Williams Jr.
OZARK — L. Duane Williams Jr., 34, of Ozark died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Ozark. He was born June 15, 1979, in Ozark. He was a heavy equipment operator for Morris Dozer, and attended First Assembly of God in Ozark.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by two sons, Chaz and Dylan Williams, both of Ozark; his parents, Larry and Pat Williams of Ozark; two sisters, Patrice Williams of Ozark and Angela Gregory of Mountainburg; and maternal grandmother, Annie Willis of Ozark.
Pallbearers will be 1987 and 1988 Ozark football team and coaches.
Honorary pallbearers will be 1988 graduating class of Ozark High School.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vallard Campbell Jr.
SPIRO — Vallard Campbell Jr., 65, of Spiro died Monday, July 19, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired Air Force master sergeant and served in the Vietname War, a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Triumph Baptist Church with burial at Fort Coffee cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; two daughters, Michelle Clayborne and Beatrice Linkenholker, both of Fort Coffee, Okla.; a son, Vallard Campbell III of Fort Coffee, Okla.; six sisters, Anna Jones and Veronica Campbell, both of Lawton, Okla., Barbara Grayson of Dallas, Vernell Valentine and Murtis Montgomery, both of Chicago, and Alice Ashley of California; three brothers, John Campbell of Ardmore, Okla., Robert Campbell of Fort Coffee, Okla., and Edward Campbell of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

GORE — Maggie “Ne-Ne” Shade, 76, of Gore died Monday, July 19, 2004, in Gore. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Gore. She was a homemaker and a member of Keetoowah Society.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Gore with burial at Redbird Smith cemetery northeast of Gore.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosa Carter of Gore; two sisters, Rosie Morris of Sallisaw and Sally Chisum of Gore; three brothers, Tommy and John Shade, both of Gore, and Ernest Shade of Cushing, Okla.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Noah and Martin Teehee, Nick Holland, Scotty Holcomb and Mike Smith.

Allyne R. Gilstrap Cameron, 85, of Fort Smith died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a retired accountant at Lillard Enterprises, a member of First United Methodist Church and Methodist Village Auxiliary, Pacesetters, Fellowship Sunday school class and Numismatic Coin Club.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.

Deana Shumate
BRANCH — Deana Jackie Shumate, 82, of Branch died Monday, July 19, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in LaCyne, Kan. She was a homemaker, a member of Branch First Baptist Church, and the widow of C.F. Shumate.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Boydston cemetery in Branch.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Mays and Cheryl Martin, both of Charleston; two sons, Rex Shumate of Branch and Chuck Shumate of Tulsa; a brother, Jake Jackson of Pittsburg, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allan Hales, Steve Coleman, Jerry and Jason Martin, Billy Neal and Mark Shumate.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Eula Mae King
Eula Mae King, 84, of Fort Smith went to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 24, 2004, surrounded by her family in her home. She was born March 6, 1920, to Frank and Ora Staton in the Oak Bend community in Franklin County. She was the widow of J.W. King and was preceded in death by one son, Tommy King; one granddaughter, Sarah Means; three brothers, Grady, Doyle and Kenneth Staton; and one sister, Pauline Law.
She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Phyllis and Bob Rice of Fort Smith and Marilyn and Preston Means of Little Rock; three sons and their spouses, Jim and Tonya King of Tulsa, Wayne and Charlotte King and Don and Suzanne King of Fort Smith. She is also survived by three sisters, Audrey Kuykendall, Rita Gray of Fort Smith, Ouida Severson of Manteca, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Staton Morrison of Van Buren.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was known to all as “Mama King” and was famous for her baking, her sewing and genuine Christian walk. The family and church were priorities in her life. Widowed at the age of 52, she worked for 4-H and then co-founded the Now and Then Shoppe with longtime friend Maxine Oldham. She was a gifted seamstress and wonderful cook who made holidays special for each child and grandchild. She was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church, where she taught in the preschool department for more than 45 years. She was a member of the church choir and later the senior adult choir, and also served on many church committees. In 2003 she was inducted into the Hall of Servants for her many years of Christian service with preschoolers. She also taught many state and national conferences on Christian preschool education for the Southern Baptist Convention. For her family, her greatest legacy is the example of how to be a wife, mother and grandmother; truly we were blessed by her immense love and devotion to us.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in the church santuary. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the team of caregivers including Peachtree Hospice, who made her last days comfortable. We would like to also thank Dr. Callaway, Dr. Kareus and Dr. Mackey for going the extra mile with “Mama King.”
Pallbearers are her seven grandsons, Carey, Chris, Kevin, Russell, Sam, Andrew and Will King.

Dorothy L. Walters
Dorothy L. Walters, 79, of Fort Smith passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in her home. She was retired from James River Dixie after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas E. Walters.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Oak Cliff Baptist Church with burial at Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, J.C.; two sons, Terry and wife Teena of Greenwood and Tim and wife Sharon of Fort Smith; two daughters, Judy LaBorde and husband Clyde of Fort Smith and Jana and Frank Sharum of Fort Smith; one sister, Lucy Monday of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren, Kandy Lindstrom and husband Brian of Alexandria, La., Kourtney Ault of Hot Springs, Kayce LaBorde of Hot Springs, Kelly Walters of Greenwood, Ashley Morgan of Dallas, Brad Walters of Clemmons, N.C., Judge Walters of Fort Smith, Layton Sharum of Fort Smith and Lynley Grace Sharum of Fort Smith; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Don Hart, Billy Gene Ross, Bruce Ross, Frankie Cook, Donald Cook and Wayne Cole.

Myrtle Snider
CHARLESTON — Myrtle Snider, 93, of Charleston died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was born May 23, 1911, in Mountain View. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and Westark Community College in Fort Smith. She was employed at Adams Abstract in Ozark and Guaranty Abstract in Fort Smith during the construction of Fort Chaffee.
She was employed for 13 years as secretary to the division superintendent of Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. and for 24 years in the insurance department of Holt-Krock Clinic, where she retired and became a member of Holt-Krock Retirees and the Holt-Krock Volunteers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston and a member of the Bumpers Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women’s Organizations.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston with burial at Parks cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Snider of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews.

Karen Kreipke
Karen Kreipke, 59, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in Bentonville. She was a planning coordinator for Hiram Walker and a member of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by her husband, Don; three daughters, Traci Foster of Broken Arrow, Okla., Katheryn Kreipke of Fort Smith and Leslie Shewmaker of Bentonville; a sister, Gail Graham of Fort Smith; a brother, Alan Shiflette of Dallas; and nine grandchildren.

OZARK — Lorene Ann Quick, 87, of Ozark died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in her home. She was an artist and a cosmetologist.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Milam of Ozark and Suzanne Mayes of Lake Isbella, Calif.; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Beulah Summerhill
Beulah Estelle Summerhill, 93, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church and retired as a private-duty nurse 17 years for Sparks Manor. She built bombers for a defense plant during World War II. She was the widow of Bon Summerhill.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church with burial at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Ray McLaughlin of Tulsa; five sisters; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mary Teeters Easton-Harp, 81, died Friday, July 23, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born July 2, 1923, in Van Buren. She was a member of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was employed by Merchants National Bank, First National Bank of Fort Smith and Jimmie Taylor Realtors. She was the widow of Ray Easton.

She is survived by her husband, M. Bishop Harp; a daughter, Mary Leigh Taylor of Fort Smith; a brother, Ralph of Birmingham, Ala.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild.
