GREENWOOD — Barbara Jane Harkreader, 47, of Greenwood died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in a Springdale hospital.
She was born Oct. 6, 1956, in Fort Smith.
She was an R.N. Registry for Northwest Health in Springdale, and a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
Arrangements under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Parton of Harrison; two sons, Grant and John Harkreader, both of Greenwood; her mother, Pat Been of Greenwood, and father, Royce Been of Fort Smith; a sister, Becky Ledbetter of Greenwood; and a brother, Bobby Been of Greenwood.

Earl Ridens
SALLISAW — Earl Ridens, 100, of Sallisaw died Monday, July 26, 2004, in Sallisaw.
He was born Feb. 27, 1904, in McMillan, Okla. He was a boot maker, of the Church of Christ faith, an Army veteran of World War II, and the widower of Priscilla Ridens and Beulah Ridens.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by two daughters, Francis Fowler of Bruceville, Texas and Nancy Ridens of California; a stepdaughter, Etna Scott of San Antonio; a stepson, Dusty Rhoades of Sallisaw; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Jay Vines
Jay Gordon Vines, 57, of Fort Smith died Friday, July 23, 2004, in his home.
He was a retired cook.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. The body will be cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by three sisters, Nita Pipkin of Poteau, Sue Scheider of Little Rock and Gina Vines of Atlanta.
Roy Cantrelll
MULDROW — Roy Leslie Cantrell, 79, of Muldrow died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in Muldrow.
He was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Santa Ana, Calif.
He was a retired master sergeant from the Air Force after 36 years, a retired teacher after 33 years, taught in Fort Smith Public Schools from 1968 to 1986, was an Army veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the 
Korean War.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Muldrow with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Jimmie; three daughters, Janice Armstrong and Lorri Matlock, both of Muldrow, and Patricia Cantrell of Fort Smith; two sons, Curtis Cantrell of Clinton, Miss., and Leslie Cantrell of Pocola; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
John Leslie Evitts Jr.,
Judge John Leslie Evitts Jr., 76, died at Spark Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 26, 2004.
He was born in Mansfield on Sept. 20, 1927, the son of Les and Hazel Evitts.
Judge Evitts attended Fort Smith Pubic schools and served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, during which time he sustained serious combat injuries. Thereafter, he attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Following graduation, he worked in the furniture and clothing industries. He graduated from Little Rock Law School in 1959 and practiced law in Little Rock, Benton and Fort Smith.
He also served as a chief deputy attorney general for the state of Arkansas, as trial attorney for the Arkansas State Highway Department, and deputy prosecuting attorney in Saline, Sebastian and Crawford counties. He served as Fort Smith municipal judge from 1990 to 2002.
He was also active in oil and gas and coal industries at various times.
Judge Evitts is survived by his best friend and beloved companion, Mary Ann Abrego; and a son, John Leslie Evitts III and his wife, Janie, of Fort Smith, and their daughter, Laura Israel of Boston. He was a member of the Sebastian County and American bar associations and St. John’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry.
A service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church followed by an interment in the columbarium under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Stearns Stubblefield
Elizabeth Stearns Stubblefield passed away in Fayetteville on Monday evening, July 26, 2004, at the age of 86 years. She was married
68 years to the late Raymond Stubblefield, who died at the age of 91 in January 2004.
Mrs. Stubblefield was born on July 4, 1918, in Fayetteville to Sidney S. Stearns and Mattie Davis Stearns. She was the third of five children. She attended and graduated from Appleby Grammar School and University High School on the University of Arkansas campus before marrying and moving to Fort Smith to raise a family with Raymond.
By age 30, she had five children. The values she raised her children to live by centered around strong spiritual beliefs, hard work, truth and integrity. She was a godly woman and was the driving force in ensuring each child obtained a sound general education, particularly teaching them to love reading, books and music. Having resided 30 years in Fort Smith from the late 1930s to the late 1960s and in Little Rock from 1968 through 2000, she was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church in both cities.
Intolerant of idle hands, she could be a strict “peachtree limb” disciplinarian and freely applied soapy washcloths to errant tongues. On the other hand, she was self-sacrificial to a fault when staying up all night to sew, can vegetables and provide for her children. She was a stickler for keeping all her children well-clothed, well-shod, well-fed and clean.
Never more happy than when working, she habitually whistled favorite tunes very beautifully while she went about her tasks. As to her sins, chief among her faults was the fact that she was quick to make a cursory pass at vegetables and other nutrients on her plate en route to pies and cakes and other sweeties.
She is survived by five children, Ramona Tugwell, daughter, and her husband, Dr. N.P. Tugwell, of Fayetteville, Joel R. Stubblefield, son, of Fort Smith, Marilyn Patterson, daughter, and her husband, E.H. Patterson, of Bonita Springs, Fla., Michael Stubblefield, son, and his wife, Linda, of Visalia, Calif., and Beverly Loos, daughter, of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her very much.
The family will have visitation today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N. 12th St.
A private family committal service will be held at Woodlawn cemetery at 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004. This will be followed by a memorial service in the main sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 14th and Grand Avenue, at 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Cowan, William Douglas Jr., William Douglas III, Spencer Loos, Scott Stubblefield, Noel Tugwell and Dustin Beeson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who desire to give a memorial contribution to Mrs. Stubblefield’s memory by making a contribution to the charity of the donor’s choice or add to the Elizabeth and Raymond Memorial Scholarship Fund at University of Arkansas Fort Smith, P.O. Box 3649, Fort Smith, AR 72913, for the purpose of helping young Arkansans gain a college education.
Vera M. Sharp
Vera M. Sharp, 81, of Bonanza passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a retired drill press operator from Baldor. She was born March 19, 1923, in DeVille, La., to Charles and Catherine Dodge. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and also enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Sharp, and stepson, J.D. Sharp.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Shackelferd of Mansfield; sons, Charles and wife Margaret Sharp of Fort Smith, Paul Raymond and wife Vickie Sharp of Fort Smith; sisters, Agnes Belgard of DeVille, La., Pearl Lucas and Irene Miller, both of Pineville, La.; brother, A.D. Dodge of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren, Shane Rowe, Christy McClellan, Jessica Oelke, Mike Sharp, Annie Ransom and Terri Strong; and four great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Oelke, Hunter McClellan and Kaille Rowe.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Pine Log cemetery in Barber under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harmon Eldon Amos
Harmon Eldon Amos, 81, of Pocola died Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Fort Smith. He was a retired sheet metal supervisor with the Department of Defense.
An Army Air Force veteran, “Slick” was a member of the 303rd Bomb Group “Hells Angels” and the last surviving member of his B-17 crew.
They flew the last bombing mission in Germany before Hitler surrendered.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and Reid Masonic Lodge Mansfield.
He was an avid sports fan, following the Pocola Indians, Conway Wampus Cats, Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Chapel under the direction of Martin Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield.
Burial will be at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith Mae Pugh; one son, Rickey Amos of Conway; two daughters, Donna Gwen Highley and Sheila Amos of Pocola; one brother, Edward Amos of Arvada, Colo.; three sisters, Geri Hobbs and Juanita DenAdel of Greenwood, and Jessie Camp of Winslow; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Highley, Chanci Highley, Sean Amos, Shane Amos, Craig Amos and Lance Amos.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark McKenzie, Derek Dody Luu, Josh Atkins and Colby Post.

Roy Clinton Taylor
Roy Clinton Taylor, 92, of Alma died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in a local hospital.
He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Alma, a lifelong resident of Crawford County and resident of Alma the past 60 years.
Retired realtor and MFA-Shelter Insurance agent.
During early years he worked as a produce dealer and carpenter.
Preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dewell Taylor.
He was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Crawford County.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday July 30, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Alma with burial at Alma City cemetery in Alma under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Belt of Alma and Sharon Wilson of Van Buren; two sons, Bobby C. Taylor of Alma and Jackie Taylor of Alma; two sisters, Billie Cheek of Greenwood and Georgia Booth of Fort Smith; a brother, Kenneth Taylor of Alma; six grandchildren, Johnny Taylor, Kevin Belt, Brent Taylor, Bradley Wilson, Julie Russell and Cheryl Peters; and six great-grandchildren, Courtney and Hillary Russell, Ashton and Austin Peters, Hannah and Joel Belt.

Iva Pearl Angeletti
Iva Pearl Angeletti, 91, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in Midland, Texas.
She was a former resident of Greenwood, a homemaker and a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Angeletti.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Charles Angeletti of Denver; her daughter, Janelle Logi and her husband, John, of Midland, Texas; two grandchildren, Jason Logi of Arlington, Texas, and Andrea Royal of Lubbock, Texas; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood.
Family will visit with friends on Friday, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Garland Lee Buck
Garland Lee Buck, 78, of Midland died Wednesday, July 28, 2004.
He was born in Mansfield on July 8, 1926, the son of Ovie and Vernie Buck.
He was a Baptist. He served in World War II and the
Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1956.
He retired from the Missouri Pacific Line Railroad after 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Caroline Doreene (Doddie), and two daughters, Sharon Louise Buck and Billie Sue Maggard
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Buck of the home; one son, Gerald Lee Buck of Huntington; two daughters, Sandra Lucille Langley of Fort Smith and Joyce Ann James of Mountainburg; nine grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial in West Plains, Mo.
Viewing will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. with family visiting with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

CAMERON — Helen Lewis, 76, of Cameron died Monday, July 26, 2004, in Keota.
She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Bates. She was a homemaker, a member of Assembly of God, and the widow of Charles Lewis.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Davison of Hobbs, N.M., and Betty Rodgers of Keota; a son, Charles Lewis of Cameron; a sister, Edna Slote of Barling; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Stephen Belzung
Stephen Monta Belzung, 26, of Fort Smith died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in his home. He was born July 27, 1977, in Fort Smith. He attended UAFS majoring in computer science and was an employee of Walgreens.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, William and Salvacion Belzung of Barling; a sister, Renne Arnold of Rudy; a brother, Andrew Belzung of Barling; maternal grandparents, Roman and Antonia Monta of West Palm Beach, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Robert and Fern Belzung of Fort Smith.

PANAMA — Wanda Lee Fout, 73, of Panama died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in Pocola. She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Hackett.
She was retired from Whirlpool Corp. and was a member of First Assembly of God in Panama.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Panama with burial at Shady Point cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Black of Hugo, Okla.; a son, Michael Fout of Shady Point; a half-brother, Ted Prater of Muskogee, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick Chapa, David Donathan, Michael Taylor, Mark Harper, Danny Caldwell and James Darnell.
