Dora Atwell Miller
Dora Atwell Miller passed from this life unto life eternal on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Miller. Miller, as she was known by those she considered her “family,” was born April 20, 1916, in Johnson County, Arkansas. She was a member of Cavanaugh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in several ministries until her health prevented her from participating. She worked for 33 years a a training aids officer at Fort Chaffee for the 4th U.S. Army, later known as the 5th U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, with the Revs. Steve Stewart and Brent Summerhill officiating. Her body may be viewed from 8 a.m. until noon today. Burial will be at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Keith Cottingham, David Ferguson, Jonathan Leonard, Dewaine and Eric Summerhill and Tony White.
Miller exemplified a Christian lady. “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:29-31.

Mary Williams
Mary Williams, 55, of Alma died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in her residence in Alma. She was a homemaker, a member of Fort Smith CB Club and was a loving grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Will of the home; two daughters, Kristie Lawson of Alma and Carla Henderson of Van Buren; four sons, James Williford Sr. of Alma, Tim Williford of Alma, Bryon Williams of Wichita, Kan., and Alan Williams of Fort Smith; four sisters, Edna Glasscock of West Memphis, Pat Irvin of Fort Smith, Judy Robinson of Arkoma, and Jan Bennett of Van Buren; four brothers, Gary Pittman of Alma, Bill Pittman of Claxton, Ga., Donald Pittman of Fort Smith and Danny Pittman of Skiatook, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Calvary Chapel Pentecostal Church in Alma with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Dean, Bobby and Steven Sevenstar, Larry White, Jackie Robinson and Harley Sorrals. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
William H. “Billy” England Jr.
William H. “Billy” England Jr., 46, of Gilroy, Calif., died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in Gilroy, Calif. He was a transfer driver for Granite Construction, formerly with Don Chapin Co. and Keith Day Trucking. He graduated from North Salinas High School, class of 1975. He was an avid fisherman, loved NASCAR and had been a big fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was also a Giants and 49ers fan. Special times include watching his son, Billy III, race motorcycles and spending times with family and friends.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Hall cemetery Arbor with burial at Hall cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda England of Gilroy, Calif.; a daughter, Brooke England of Chico, Calif.; a son, Billy England and his wife, Rebecca, of Salinas, Calif.; his parents, Donna and Ernie Hammontree of Uniontown; three sisters, Barbara Miller of Untiontown, Brenda Hammontree of Uniontown and Marsha Myers of Idaho; a brother, Bob England of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Rogers, Kevin Kelton, Steve Kelton, Curtis Gardner, Allen Miller and Tim Breshears.

Frances Eden Graham Nipp
Frances Eden Graham Nipp, 83, of Greenwood died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in Greenwood. She was a homemaker, member of the Greenwood Church of Christ and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Harris-Hannah V.F.W. Post No. 6527 in Greenwood.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at the Greenwood Church of Christ with burial at Ramsey cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Nipp of the home; one daughter, Linda Graham of Spartanburg, S.C.; three sons, Curtis Graham of Washington, Dale Graham and wife, Gail, of Mansfield and Larry Graham and wife, Sheila, of Hackett; daughter-in-law, Barbara Graham Soller of Booneville; one sister, Glenna Kirkman and husband, Paul, of Rancho Cordoba, Calif.; four brothers, Josh W. Eden of Lamont, Calif., Noah W. “Dub” Eden and wife, Katie, of Gilbert, Ariz., Kenneth Eden and wife, Bobbie, of Mesa, Ariz., and Clovis Eden and wife, Helen, of Payson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by sons, Wayne and Jerry Graham; and brother, Lee Eden.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Vernal Barker
ROGERS — Vernal Barker, 77, of Rogers died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in his home. He was born June 11, 1927, in Mountainburg. He was a deacon at Rogers Freewill Baptist Church, served in the Army Air Force during World War II, and a retired sporting goods purchasing agent.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Pope cemetery south of Mountainburg under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene; three sons, Stanley of Texarkana, Joe Barker of Rogers, and Bruce Barker of Denver; two sisters, Lydia Johnson of Jinx, Okla., and Betty Morgan of Mountainburg; a brother, Monroe Barker of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cleo Hunt
PARIS — Cleo “Cricket” Hunt, 93, of Paris died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in Paris. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Paris and the widow of Coy Hunt.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at New Bethel cemetery in Plainview.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Nehus of Paris; a son, Clyde Hunt of Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bob, Troy, Mitchell and Doug Forrest, Merel Pense and James Adkison.
Everette Ewing
PINE BLUFF — Everette Ewing, 77, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004. He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Clarksville. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School, a Navy veteran of World War II, a Methodist and retired from Hancock Fabrics.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamar cemetery in Lamar under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by a companion, Debbie Ewing of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Lydia Ewing of Memphis; a son, Roger Ewing of North Little Rock; a sister, Pat Shackleford of Conway; and one grandchild.
The family will visit with friends at the cemetery after services.
Henry Hille
HATFIELD — Henry L. “Hank” Hille, 65, of Hatfield died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in his home. He was born July 15, 1939, in Bellflower, Calif. He served in the Army, was a member of the Elks and worked for Tyson Food plant.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Robertson of California.
Phillip Crowder
CLARKSVILLE — Phillip Ivan Crowder, infant son of Samantha Whitten of Clarksville and Thomas Crowder Jr. of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in his home. He was born June 8, 2004, in Clarksville.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Elizabeth Hall cemetery in New Blaine under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Abby Crowder of the home; grandparents, Sharon and Larry Taylor of Clarksville and Wilma and John Helmert of Clarksville; and great-grandmother, Joann Horn of Clarksville.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lou Tucker
ROGERS — Lou Ann Tucker, 70, of Rogers died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in her home. She was a retired teacher for Waldron Public School System, a member of Lowell First Baptist Church, the V.F.W Auxiliary, the Scott County Retired School Teacher Association, a volunteer math and reading tutor for Lowell Elementary School and Frank Tillary Elementary School, and the widow of Ray Tucker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Hawkins cemetery near Parks.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Tyler of Springdale and Connie Janczys of Rogers; a son, Ray Tucker of Blytheville; a sister, Mary Bouchard of Satellite Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Tyler, Trey and Nicholas Tucker, James Jeffery, Harlon Hawkins and Eddie Harrison.
Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jettie Workman Tucker
Mrs. Jettie Workman Tucker, 102, of Ratcliff died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in Charleston. Jettie Lee Agnes Workman Tucker was born to James Monroe Workman and Matilda Catherine Wilson Workman on Jan. 23, 1902, in Chismville, Logan County, one of nine children. She was married
to Alvin Tucker in 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Tucker was the last living family member of her generation.
Miss Jettie began teaching elementary school before finishing high school, but she continued her education through correspondence courses, then graduated from Ratcliff High School in 1928. Her teaching career began at Caulksville in a one-room building with a curtain dividing it into two rooms. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway and Arkansas Tech University during the summer vacations to earn her teaching certification. She taught eight years at Charleston before returning to Ratcliff Consolidated School and later at County Line for a total of 39 years. Many former students reminisced fondly of school days with Miss Jettie at the celebration of her 100th birthday. She quickly recognized most of her guests and enjoyed remembering many moments from their school days.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of Caulksville Presbyterian Church. She had received recognition for her 50-year membership in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by 11 nieces and nephews, Wendell Workman of Fort Smith who devoted much love, care and time to her well-being and comfort, Leonard Ostendorf of Springdale, Dr. Wayne Workman of Hot Springs Village, Wilda Looney of Springfield, Mo., Wayma Rowe of Hot Springs, Mary K. Scott of Monett, Mo., Gene M. Workman of Del City, Okla., Freda Sanders of Fayetteville, N.C., Walter Hawkins of Booneville, Lealon Hawkins and Arch Irvin Jr., both of Charleston. Her stepsons, San L. Tucker of Wylie, Texas, and Kenneth Tucker of San Diego, also survive.
The family express sincere thanks to the staff of Greenhurst Nursing Home, Marie Koch, Hilda Rhea Kuykendall Hill and Norma Jo Hill Corley, for their faithful loving care and meaningful friendships.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial at Caulksville City cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston. Her body will be ready for viewing this afternoon.
Mary Louise Bridgers
Mary Louise Bridgers, 83, formerly of Fort Smith, entered into rest Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in Waynesville, N.C. She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Westville, Okla. Mary was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Builders Sunday school class and J.O.Y. Group and a 1938 graduate of McAlester High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jasper Bridgers. She is survived by one son, Ben Bridgers and wife Sue Ellen of Sylva, N.C.; daughter, Leak Baker and husband Steve of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Viola Adams of McAlester, Okla., and Lela Pykiet of Harper, Kan.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Chambers, Bennett Moss, Sean Bridgers, Jonathan and Marcy Baker and Scott Burton; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Ken Pykiet, Steve Baker, Ray Burris and Scott Burton.

Terrye Oxford
Terrye Oxford, 55, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1948, in San Diego, the daughter of the late Billy and Edna Calhoun. Terrye was a former employee of Cooper Clinic and was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her husband, Charles of the home; two sons, Chris Oxford and wife Robyn of Rudy and Jeremy Oxford of Fort Smith; a sister, Jeri Condry of Fort Smith; nieces, Beth Decker and Melissa Condry; and nephews, Geoffery Calhoun and Aaron Calhoun.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today only.
Marguerite Cravens
Marguerite Cravens, 89, of Paris died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Paris. She was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Vilonia to Jess Coleman and Mary Etta Montgomery Sandeford. She was a homemaker, a retired schoolteacher, co-owner of Cravens Abstract Co. and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph N. Cravens, and her parents.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at McKendree cemetery in Subiaco, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two sons, David R. Cravens and Charles E. Cravens and wife Debby Cravens, all of Paris; two grandchildren, Ryan Cravens and Darla King; and one great-grandchild, Kacee King.

BOONEVILLE — Hiram Paul Osborn, 52, of Booneville died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Booneville. He was a member of Pine Log Baptist Church in Booneville and was a sergeant of the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry of the Army.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pine Log Baptist Church under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; three daughters, Norma Williams of California, Misty Scott of Booneville and Tonya Osborn of New Mexico; three sons, Amil Osborn of California and David Boyd and Sean Osborn, both of Booneville; his mother, Norma Osborn of California; a sister, Terry Stahlecker of California; a brother, Dean Osborn; and nine grandchildren.
