Daniel Scot Hoover
Daniel Scot Hoover, 36, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Booneville, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004. He was born Aug. 4, 1968, at Beale Air Force Base, Calif. He was an artist and landscaper.
He is survived by his parents, Rick and Elaine Lippard of Booneville and Bill Hoover of Irving, Texas; three brothers, Billy Hoover of Fort Smith, Justin Lippard of Longwood, Fla., and Kyle Lippard of Booneville; three sisters, Lisa Lippard of Fayetteville, Laura Elder of Booneville and Lesley Andrews of Collierville, Tenn.; four nephews, Cody, Beau, Cassidy and Hunter; two nieces, Brooke and Lauren; loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends Micah Eckman and Trina Major, both of San Antonio.
Daniel was gentle and kind and loved to create with the gifts of nature God gave us.
A memorial service for family and friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walnut Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Smith chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 6101 U.S. 271 South, Fort Smith, AR 72908.

Treva Isabelle Duncan
Treva Isabelle Duncan, age 102, of Fort Smith died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 21, 1902, in Midland to Dr. Frederick R. Duncan and Dora Gladys Toler Duncan. She was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Smith and attended school in Waldron and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She taught school in Scott County at Waldron for a few years, and until her retirement she taught in the Fort Smith public schools. She was a member of local, state and national chapters of the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Monday Reading Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Truman M. Duncan.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial will be at Duncan cemetery in Waldron, with no formal service at the cemetery.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gwen Duncan of Dighton, Kan.; and several cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 3600 Free Ferry Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903; or Methodist Nursing Home, 1915 S. 74th St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Dale Garner
Dale Garner, 69, of Greenwood died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Houston. He was born April 29, 1935, and retired from the corrugated packaging business after many years and several locations.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Greenwood with burial at Liberty cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Garner of the home; two sons, Dr. Steve Garner and wife Cheryl Black Garner of Houston, and Stan Garner and wife Melissa Gibbs Garner of Greenwood; one daughter, Karen McCullen and husband Jon of Greenwood; one brother, Frank J. Garner Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Jean Johnson of Clarendon; and six grandchildren.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation, 800 Marshall St., Slot 661, Little Rock, AR 72202; or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Renna Catherine Calhoun
Renna Catherine Calhoun, 88, of Van Buren died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church since 1929, was a graduate of the University of Arkansas class of 1937, a member of Delta Gamma sorority and a former teacher at the old Sophia Meyer grade school. She was the granddaughter of the late W.B. Smith and worked in the W.B. Smith store for several years. She was the widow of Kelly Calhoun.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gracelawn cemetery Arbor in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a son, Robert Calhoun and his wife Olga of Van Buren; a sister-in-law, Imogene Franklin of Van Buren; two nieces, Carol Henson of Van Buren and Jane Garner of Little Rock; three grandchildren, John Calhoun of Fort Smith and Gina and Cara Smithson, both of Lavaca; and six great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Van Buren First Baptist Church.

Eva Sneed
Eva Lee Lafayette Sneed, 74, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Van Buren. She was retired from OK Foods and was a member of Greater Pilgrim Rest Church in Van Buren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Lafayette of Fort Smith; two sisters, Lucille Archie and Bessie White, both of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of Greater Pilgrim Rest Church.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shanne Rose
WALDRON — Shanne LaRay Rose, 32, of Waldron died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, near Needmore. He was a heavy equipment operator.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Buffalo cemetery near Boles under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his parents, Bobby Charles and Tillie Rose of Boles; a sister, Annette Yancey of Winfield; and two brothers, Randy Watkins of Waldron and B.C. Rose of Mena.
Pallbearers will be Don Frost, Dale White, Mark Ashford, Rick Owens, Mack Rose and Jamie May.

Howard Cox III
WALDRON — Howard Jess “Pooh” Cox III, 32, of Waldron died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Waldron. He was a member of New Life Center in Waldron.
The body was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at New Life Center in Waldron.
He is survived by his parents, Howard Cox Jr. of Waldron and Sherry Cox of Fort Smith; his grandparents, Elzie and Juanita Aynes and Howard Cox Sr., all of Waldron; and a brother, Rodney Davis of Waldron.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Services Clearing House for the Meals for Kids program.

Pamila Kasper
Pamila Jane Kasper, 53, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born June 7, 1951, in Charleston and was a neurology technician for Sparks Neurology Center for 23 years.
The body was cremated. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons, Kristofer Kasper of Fort Smith and Edward Kasper of Ventura, Calif.; her mother, Jean Sullivan of Fort Smith; a sister, Kathy Williams of Kentucky; a brother, Troy Sullivan of Boulder, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Betty Wilmoth
DECATUR — Betty Carol Wilmoth, 77, of Decatur died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in a Siloam Springs hospital. She was born April 2, 1927, in Gravette. She was a lifetime resident of northwest Arkansas, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with burial at Decatur cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Brenda Vaughn of Gentry and Karen Napier of Fort Smith; two sons, David Wilmoth of Siloam Springs and Randy Wilmoth of Rogers; a brother, Bill Hopkins of Decatur; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eliza Medrick
Eliza Medrick of Fort Smith died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Funeral arrangements are pending with McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Patricia Ann King
Patricia Ann King, 66, of Providence, Ky., and Huntington passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Pat was a seamstress and retired from Carhart after 33 years of service.
She is survived by five daughters, Pamela Wagner and her husband, Robert, of Springfield, Mo., Danna King of Providence, Ky., Charlotte Beard and her husband, John, of Robards, Ky., Ruth Ann Brack and her husband, Wes, of Robards, Ky., and Sharon Simmons of Providence, Ky.; a son, Jerry Thomas and his wife, Amy, of Robards, Ky.; two sisters, Glenda Polk and her husband, Ronnie, of Huntington and Wilma Jean King of Bentonville; two brothers, James King of Huntington and Bobby King of Pea Ridge; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her sister, Linda Everett and brother, John King.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Burial will be at Gilliam cemetery near Witcherville.
Friends may call Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, from noon to 8 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home and Monday from 9 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Webster County Library, 230 N. Willow St., Providence, KY 42450.
There will be no visitation at Browning Funeral Home.

Renna Calhoun
Renna Catherine Calhoun, 88, of Van Buren died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Arkansas Class of 1937, a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, taught at the old Sophia Meyer grade school, worked at the W.B. Smith store and the widow of Kelly Calhoun.

Kitty Crowder
LAMAR — Kitty Lynn Crowder, 54, of Lamar died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in her home. She was a shipping clerk at Wal-Mart Distribution Center and a member of Strawberry Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Strawberry Assembly of God with burial at Hagarville cemetery in Hagarville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie; two daughters, Lona Rhodes of Lamar and Lori Caldwell of Flat Rock; a sister, Carolyn Richmond of Bradly; three brothers, John Dinkins of Columbia, Tenn., Edward Dinkins of Plain Dealing, La., and Bruce Dinkins of Serepta, La.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bob Newman, Ben Smith, Gene MaCalik, Richard Pelts, William Graves and Doyle Farmer.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Strawberry Assembly of God building fund.

Mary Brown
POCOLA — Mary B. Brown, 68, of Pocola died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born June 2, 1936, in Fanshawe. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy; two daughters, Terry Brown of Fort Smith and Tammy Rainbolt of Norman, Okla.; a son, Dr. Thomas Brown of Lansing, Mich.; three brothers, Dean Holderfield of Fanshawe, Eddie Holderfield of Fort Smith, and Billy Holderfield of Booneville; and seven grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Herman Bates
MENA — Herman D. Bates, 87, of Mena died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Mena. He was born Sept. 10, 1916, in Slatington. He was an Army verteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, 142 Field Artillery Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a farmer and rancher.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Board Camp Baptist Church with burial at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Big Fork under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Daniel Bates of Mena; a sister, Hazel Wagner of Fort Smith; a brother, Houston Bates of Hot Springs; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Allen Stewart, Cliff Bentley, Joe Baldwin, Bob Young, Steve McRae, Jake and James Looney, and Glen Stewart.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
