Raymond Hatfield
MENA — Raymond Loyd Hatfield, 74, of Mena died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Mena. He was born May 10, 1930, in Jasper, Texas. He was the retired owner of Mena Metal.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Board Camp cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Koya; three daughters, Twyla Hines and Sheila Joplin, both of Benton, La., and April Thacker of Mena; four sisters, Audrey Cox of Powell, Tenn., Betty Cale of Anchorage, Alaska, Orelle DuBoise of Benton and Barbara Geohegan of Folsom, La.; two brothers, Odell Hatfield of Roston and Roy Hatfield of Sarepta, La.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gene and Danny Medford, Sam Crees, Robert Harring, Robert Smith and Chris Thacker.

Billie Fallin
Billie June Fallin, 72, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a bookkeeper for Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith and a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Joy Conaway and Jody Hartmeier, both of Fort Smith; a son, Tommy Fallin of Fort Smith; and 12 grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas, 4942 W. Markham, Suite 100, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Rodney Nix
WALDRON — Rodney Lee Nix, 25, of Waldron died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Needmore. He was a member of Bates Assembly of God and a veteran of the Marines.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gipson cemetery in Bates under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his mother, Joann Williams of Waldron and his father, Roger Nix of Waldron; two brothers, Mark Nix of Waldron and Cody Nix of Heavener; and grandparents, James and Eva Janway of Heavener.
Pallbearers will be Toby, Jarod and Matt Nix, Freddie Woodrall, Jay Barker, Jason, Nathan and Scotty Janway.

Eliza Medrick
Eliza Medrick, 92, of Fort Smith passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. She was born July 17, 1912, to Henry and Eva Oliver in Greenwood. Mrs. Medrick was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Dan Medrick. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Teasley (Howard) of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Roma Goebel (Frank) of Nashville, Tenn. She leaves four loving grandchildren, Paul Goebel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Craig Goebel of Baltimore, Sarah Teasley of Dartmouth, Mass., and Jill Teasley of Vancouver. She has one sister, Margaret Wilhite of Fort Smith, and a sister-in-law, Dylis Medrick Jenkins of Conway, and she leaves her loving and loyal companion and caregiver, Rita Smith of Muldrow.
Eliza had a wonderful life. Above all she loved her family. They will forever cherish memories of shared times both in Arkansas and on holidays with her family in their homes. It meant so much to her to see her grandchildren grow up and accomplish their goals. She was also a very proud aunt of all her nieces and nephews.
Eliza’s family will receive family and friends Tuesday between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. A celebration of her life will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Cliff Baptist Church, 3701 S. Gary St., Fort Smith, with interment at Roselawn cemetery following the service.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Treva Duncan
Treva Isabelle Duncan, 102, of Fort Smith died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 21, 1902, in Midland. She was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Smith and attended school in Waldron and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She taught school in Scott County at Waldron for a few years, and until her retirement she taught in the Fort Smith public schools. She was a member of local, state and national chapters of the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Monday Reading Club.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. Burial will be at Duncan cemetery in Waldron, with no formal service at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 3600 Free Ferry Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903; or Methodist Nursing Home, 1915 S. 74th St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Carlos Navarro
PLACENTIA, Calif. — Carlos Edwardo Navarro, 51, of Placentia died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a general manager of the Sav-On Drug Stores in California and a member of the Sav-On Hispanic Mentorship.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; two sons, Sergio Navarro of Placentia and Carlos Navarro of Fort Hood, Texas; a sister, Lourdes Navarro of Chula Vista, Calif.; two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Tommy Thomas
Tommy Lee Thomas, 39, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Rainelle, W.V. He was a truck driver for L&R Lease Drivers in Fort Smith and raced at the Tri-State and Crawford County speedways.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Huntington cemetery in Huntington.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Kennedy of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; his father and stepmother, Wendall and Evelyn Thomas of Lavaca; his grandmothers, Audie Lewis of Fort Smith, Susie Hunt of Waldron, Katie Stephenson of Oak Ridge and Lottie Clark of Spiro; three sisters, Amanda Thomas of Roland, Teresa Inness of Tulsa and Dawn Eckrett of Spiro; and four brothers, Stephen Thomas of Fort Smith, Billy Thomas of Oak Ridge and Troy Thomas and Doyal Akers, both of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be Doyal Akers, Troy Thomas, Kenny McAfee, Ronnie and Allen Wilson and David Greb.
The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his crew from L&R Lease Drivers.

Raymond Decker
GREENWOOD — Raymond “Ray” Decker, 78, of Greenwood died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired mechanic for James River Co., an Army veteran of World War II, a Catholic and the widower of Betty Decker.
The family will scatter his ashes following cremation.
He is survived by four daughters, Tammy McCray of Kailua, Hawaii, Wendy Decker and Debbie Quenga, both of Greenwood, and Vickie Fagan of Pennsylvania; a son, Eugene Decker of New Jersey; a sister, Victoria Schluterman of Paris; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Raymond “Ray” Decker
Raymond “Ray” Decker, 78, of Greenwood died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born June 14, 1926, in Rhineland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. He was of the Catholic faith, a mechanic, retired from James River Company and an Army veteran of World War II.
Family will scatter his ashes following cremation under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by four daughters, Tammy McCray of Kailua, Hawaii, Wendy Decker of Greenwood, Debbie Quenga of Greenwood and Vickie Fagan of Pennsylvania; one son, Eugene Decker of New Jersey; one sister, Veronica Schlutermann of Paris; one brother, Edward Decker of California; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Geneva “Jenny” Sexton
Geneva “Jenny” Sexton died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004. Dear mother of Randy (Christi) Sexton, grandmother of Braedon Sexton, daughter of William C. “Bill” and Lois Sexton (nee Keech), sister of Randall Sexton, Betty Ashworth and Sheryl Harden. Dear sister-in-law and aunt.
Jenny attended Ellisville Church of Christ.
Funeral service at Schrader Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway in Ballwin, Mo., on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Bethel cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harriet Hitchcock
Harriet Hitchcock, 70, of Van Buren died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in a local hospital. She was an auctioneer, seamstress, school bus driver and graphic artist. Mrs. Hitchcock is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Hitchcock; and a brother, William Brinkmeier.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Davis of Van Buren; a son, William Hitchcock, also of Van Buren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Clifford Foy of Pocatello, Idaho, Rose and Mac Machurek of Pocatello, Idaho, Margaret and Bill Townsend of Parkland, Wash., and Beverly Bell of Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bob Brinkmeier of Tulsa and Fred and Myrtle Brinkmeier of La Mesa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hitchcock will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. The ashes will be scattered in California at a later date.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

David McMillon
CLARKSVILLE — David Edward McMillon, 54, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1950, in Brinkley. He attended First Assembly of God, was a graduate of Brinkley High School and was a retired farmer and aircraft mechanic.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God with burial at Shady Grove cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Amy Taylor of Moro; a son, Jeffrey McMillon of Wynne; three sisters, Nola Reeves of Russellville, Mildred Freeman of Mesquite, Texas, and Diana Rollman of Jamestown, Pa.; a brother, Randall McMillon of Montrose, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Gardner, Wes Kendrick, Robert Marsh, Bobby Day, Terry Reeves and Tommy Thomas.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Roy Elkins
CLARKSVILLE — Roy Lawrence Elkins, 61, of Clarksville died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Clarksville. He was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Cass. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School, attended Letourneau College in Longview, Texas, and was a retired member of Clarksville Fire Department. He worked several years for Peach Valley Propane Co. and 34 years for Synergy Gas Co., where he was Arkansas and Oklahoma district manager.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Edie Stone of Hagarville; a son, Ethan Elkins of Alameda, Calif.; his mother, Bea Elkins of Clarksville; a sister, Edna Patterson of Clarksville; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Hunt, Jim Dow, Aubrey Yount, Billy Stone, Russell Kuyker and John Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members and retired members of Clarksville Fire Department.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mildred Blaylock
Mildred E. Blaylock, 99, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004. She was born March 14, 1905, in Fort Smith. She worked as a waitress at Hay’s Cafe and later owned Mildred’s Cafe, where she became famous for her pecan pie and was nicknamed the “Pecan Pie Girl.” She also started an alterations business. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the widow of William Blaylock.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Forest Park cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the men of Calvary Baptist Church.

Donna Kay Sandlin
Donna Kay Sandlin, 45, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a resident of Van Buren and a member of Van Buren First Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Van Buren First Assembly of God with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Sandlin of the home; two sons, Wesley James Sandlin Jr. and his wife, Marla, of Van Buren and Kenneth DeWayne Sandlin and his wife, Leigh, of Lowell; her parents, James “Red” and Gurtie Taylor of Van Buren; six sisters, Janice Haggler of Watts, Okla., JoAnn Taylor, Wanda Gragg, Linda Marston and Patsy Ellifritz, all of Van Buren, and Diane Crims of Fort Smith; two brothers, James Taylor of Van Buren and Dennis Taylor of Muskgoee, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Allison Sandlin and Jacob Harrell.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Perry, Steve Grizzle, Steve Weaver, Steve Staggs, Steve Gunner and Lance Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Jones, Gary Six, John Bentley, Steven Black, Jamie Dyer and Lewis “Buddy” Irvin.
