Wilburn Hendrix
CLARKSVILLE — Wilburn Hendrix, 81, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Clarksville. He was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Hunt. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, an Army veteran of World War II, former co-owner of Tipton-Hendrix Garage & Wrecker Service, a retired cattle farmer, formerly police officer for Clarksville, and a retired fire chief of Clarksville Fire Department.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with burial at Liberty Hill cemetery in Hunt under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia.

Albert Gilsinger
CHARLESTON — Albert G. Gilsinger, 73, of Charleston died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Charleston. He was born July 10, 1931, in Charleston. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War, received the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
Rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at Smith Mortuary in Charleston.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by two sisters, Irene Jones of Lake Charles, La., and Elizabeth Boone of Yakima, Wash.; a brother, William Gilsinger of Rapid City, S.D.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Michael Gilsinger, Kriss and Fred Schaffer, Nick Baumgartner and Roger James.

Anna Bateman
Anna V. “Granny” Bateman, 92, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she worked in the nursery, and was the widow of Charles Bateman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Harold Bateman of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Bateman, Kevin Newton, Drew and Pedro Sadler, Grant Price, Richard Sanford, Ricky Hill and Justin Combs.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2200 S. Phoenix Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Jewell Corbell
Greenbrier — Jewell Corbell, 94, of Greenbrier, formerly of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, Sept. 1. 2004, in Greenbrier. She was a homemaker, a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church and the widow of Ross Corbell.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Lea of Greenbrier, Barbara Matsoukas of Jacksonville and Linda Albright of Van Buren; two sons, Otis Corbell of New Blaine and Grover Corbell of Benton; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Greg and Justin Corbell, Dale Plymale, Mark Albright, Harold Castle.

James Phelps
ALMA — James G. Phelps, 80, of Alma died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in his home. He was born May 7, 1924, in Marshall County, Ky. He attended Graphic New Hope Baptist Church, a member of Fine Springs Masonic Lodge No. 439 and Order of the Eastern Star Fine Springs Lodge No. 439, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and was a retired lieutenant with Henry County Sheriff Department in Paris, Tenn.
Funeral and Masonic services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Pope cemetery in Mountainburg.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell; a daughter, Cindy Meredith of Huntingdon, Tenn.; a son, Stephen Phelps of Huntingdon, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Mary Ott of Alma; a stepson, Carroll Wilson of San Diego; a sister, Garvalene Byrd of Jackson, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Strauss, Cliff Ott, Steve Coody, Robert Byrd, Henry Howard, Eddie and Robin Garrett and Stephen Phelps.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fine Springs Masonic Lodge No. 439.
The family will visit with friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Evelyn Jamison
Evelyn J. Jamison, 53, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Upper Camp Creek cemetery in Muldrow. Obituary submitted by Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Amanda Nease of Arkoma; three sisters, Shirley Setzer of Rogue River, Ore., Robbie Harvell and Carol Cusick, both of Arkoma; two brothers, Edward and Richard Corbin, both of Fort Smith.

Katy Steel
Katy Lyn Steel, 4, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital. She was born July 24, 2000, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her parents, Jimmie and Darlene Steel of Fort Smith; a sister, Haley Steel of Fort Smith; four brothers, Robert, Randy, Tyler and Cody Steel, all of Fort Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Stephen Estes
Stephen Wayne Estes, 42, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1961, in Van Buren. He was a former auto technician and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy Estes of Fort Smith; a son, Brent Estes of Fort Smith; his parents, Richard and Barbara Estes; a sister, Cindy Bernard of Fort Smith; a brother, Rick Estes of Rogers; maternal grandmother, Opal Pigg of Fort Smith; and paternal grandfather, Richard O. Estes of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Larry and John Horn, Wayne McClarty, Roy and Rhett Pigg and Gary Duplantis.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Katie Sharpe
STIGLER — Katie E. Sharpe, 50, of Stigler died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in her home.
Private family services are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip; three daughters, Tammy Underwood, Natisha Simmons and Tiffany Sharpe, all of Stigler; her mother, Mamie Allen of Keota; two sisters, Eva Morgan and Martha Owens, both of Keota; and four grandchildren.

Raymond Thompson
Raymond R. “Mickey” Thompson, 66, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a house painter for DeMoss Painting Co. in Pine Bluff, a member of Church of God and served in the Air Force.
A cremation service will be at a later date, with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a companion, Claudia Harris; and a sister, Edna Bragg of Greensburg, Ky.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor’s choice.

VACAVILLE, Calif. — Loma Marie Clopton Levings, 71, of Vacaville, Calif., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Vacaville. She was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Sebastian County. She was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lovelace cemetery in Witcherville under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Arnold R. Reed
Arnold R. Reed, 80, of Fort Smith entered into rest Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Fort Smith and was a retired carpenter for Edwards Construction for 45 years and a member of Cavanaugh Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma Reed; one son, Larry Reed and wife Sue of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Rhonda Patton and husband Rick of Alma and Maj. Robert Reed, USAF, and wife Lisa of Kathleen, Ga.; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gary Don Reed and wife Doris of Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Robert Reed, Gary Don Reed Jr., Ryan Lynch, Rick Patton, Cliff Boyd and Patrick Cross.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jean M. West
Jean M. West, 82, of Barling died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Barling. She was a retired clerk for Wilkes Grocery, a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy West; two sons, Ronnie and Jerry West, and a sister, June Marie Binz.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Holmes of Barling and Sharon Wooten of Pocola; and a lifelong friend, Olga Asbill of Fort Smith. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Louise Pfeiffer Ullrich
Louise Pfeiffer Ullrich, 97, of Paris died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Charleston of natural causes. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph Christian Mothers Society. She was the widow of Hubert Ullrich and Adolph Ullrich. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Helen Binz Pfeiffer; children, Johnny, Patricia and Barbara Ullrich; and a brother, William Pfeiffer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Raker of Holden, Mo., and Rita Robberson of Paris; five sons, Anthony Ullrich of Little Rock, William Ullrich of Tulsa, Richard Ullrich of Kansas City, Mo., and Edward and Donald Ullrich, both of Paris; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Johnny, Paul, Dustin, D.J., Gilbert, Jason and Marcus Ullrich and Josh and Chris Robberson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Jones, Tim Wallace, Tracy Wellhoff, Heath Komp and Matt Copper.
A family rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A public rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris.

Anna V. “Granny” Bateman
Anna V. “Granny” Bateman, 92, of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she worked in the nursery for over 35 years. She went 28 years without missing a Sunday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Freeman Bateman, and son Coach Ronnie Bateman. She was a loving mother, grandmother and caregiver for many children.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Harold Bateman and wife Jo of Fort Smith; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bateman of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Steve Bateman, Patti Johnson, Cheryl Price, Jean Ann Sadler, Rhonda Sanford, Karen Hill and Karrie Combs; and 11 great-grandchildren.
