Edward Barros
Edward “Eddie” Barros, 57, of Fort Smith died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in his home. He was a tool-and-die machinist and owner and operator of ENB Tooling. He also worked for M & M Tooling in Barling. He was a Catholic and a former member of the Air National Guard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with cremation following the service.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two stepsons, Brent and Scott Brown, both of Hackett; his mother, Catherine Barros of Fort Smith; two sisters, Marina Scott of Rogers and Catherine Barros of Dallas; two brothers, Phillip and Bill Barros, both of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jonie Rainwater
Jonie Rainwater, 41, of Van Buren died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in her home. She was a former licensed practical nurse for New Haven Nursing Home and attended the House of Prayer Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Meredith Rainwater of Charleston and Andrea Rainwater of Greenwood; her mother, Marilyn McGrew of Van Buren; her grandmother, Vivian McGrew of Houston; a sister, LaDonna Bennett of Alma; and a brother, Joe McGrew Jr. of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Billy and Joshua Noel, John Robinson, Jimmy Brasell, Raymond Huff and Jimmy Martley.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Virginia Wren
Virginia S. Wren, 76, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo. She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. and a member of First Baptist Church.
There will be no service. The body was cremated. Local arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Stevens of Burnsville, Minn.; a son, Gene Hobbs of Farmington; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John Deuley
RUDY — John A. Deuley, 36, of Rudy died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He lived in Jones Creek, Texas, for 21 years and attended Brazosport College, obtaining a Texas police certification. He started his police career at the Brazoria, Texas, police department and joined the Army in 1989, with missions/assignments in Germany, Desert Storm, Kosovo and Fort Lewis, Wash. After returning from the Army, he served on the Gregory and Aransas Pass, Texas, police departments, specializing in drug and street gang interdiction. In 1999, he moved to Los Alamos, N.M., and worked with Protection Technology at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the protection of classified matter and nuclear materials. He was assigned as a lieutenant, supervising the security protection of one of the laboratory’s most critical sites. He accepted a position with Wackenhut as an instructor at Fort Chaffee, conducting training for national security agency personnel in small arms and small unit offense and defense tactics. In February, he was recruited by Dyncorp International to provide security missions in Afghanistan with the title of the Southern Afghanistan Security Coordinator.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; a daughter, Amber; two sons, Justin and Jordan; his mother and father, Theresa and John Deuley of Aransas Pass; and a sister, Tammy Grantham of Aransas Pass.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Sebastian County SWAT team.

Jewel Corbell
Jewel Corbell, 94, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1. 2004, in Greenbrier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Corbell; and her son, John T. Corbell. She was a homemaker and a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Lea and husband Jess of Greenbrier, Barbara Matsoukas and husband Nick of Jacksonville, and Linda Albright and husband Richard of Van Buren; two sons, Otis Corbell and wife Kathleen of New Blaine and Grover Corbell and wife Sue of Benton; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Corbell of Muldrow; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Mike Corbell, Dale Plymale, Mark Albright, Harold Lee Castle, Greg Corbell and Justin Corbell.
Mary “Maggie” Naegle
Mary “Maggie” Naegle, 72, of Scranton died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in Scranton of natural causes. She worked in the Scranton Elementary School as a teacher’s aide for several years, was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Altar Society, Quilters Club and a graduate of St. Scholastica Catholic School in Fort Smith. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Mary (Tencleve) Koch; sister, Margie Fritsche; brothers, Engelbert Joe and Gene Koch.
Mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton with burial at St. Ignatius cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Naegle of Scranton; three daughters, Ginger Carr of Alma, Lois Cope of Morrilton and Margie Price of Russellville; four sons, Bill Naegle of Paris, Danny Naegle of Little Rock, Larry Naegle of Prairie View and Harold Naegle of Fort Smith; two sisters, Clara Forst of Subiaco and Julia Rogers of Prairie View; three brothers, Ed Koch of Prairie View and Dennis Koch and Ray Koch, both of Fort Smith; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Randy Rogers, Ronnie Koch, Joey Koch, Glen Fritsche, Tim Koch and Jeff Koch.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Samuel Howard McGraw
Samuel Howard McGraw, 65, of Fort Smith, formerly of Drew, Miss., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in Little Rock. Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. Visitation will be after the memorial service at 1505 Oak Knolls Circle, Fort Smith.
Mr. McGraw was born on March 2, 1939, in Drew, Miss., to Howard Munford McGraw and Georgia King McGraw. He graduated from Drew High School and attended Mississippi Delta Community College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married
Suzanne Buergler. He was a self-employed retired salesman. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. He loved his grandchildren, race cars, boating and fixing anything broken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Georgia McGraw.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Buergler McGraw of Fort Smith; four daughters, Amy Lander of Fort Smith, Jennifer S. Smith and her husband, Bryan, of Lavaca, Megan Sturgeon and her husband, Ricky, of Springdale, and Sydney McGraw of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Lady Lou Salley of Cleveland, Miss.; and four grandchildren, Jacob Lander, Cami Sturgeon, Drew Sturgeon and Tyler Smith.

John A. Deuley, 36, was born Oct. 7, 1967, in Freeport, Texas. He was killed on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, in Kabul, Afghanistan, in a terrorist attack.

Dora Conduff
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Dora Lillian Conduff, 77, of Texarkana, Ark., formerly of Mena, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004. She was born March 1, 1937, in Board Camp. She was a member of Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God, the Son-Lighters in Action and Say Joys, and the widow of J.D. Conduff.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Gilmer of Shreveport, La.; a son, David Conduff of Bossier City, La.; a sister, Cora Goodman of Mena; a brother, Garrie Corley of Mena; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BLUE MOUNTAIN — Junior Clifton Newman, 78, of Blue Mountain died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a television repairman, former radio disc jockey and salesman at KCCL Radio in Paris, former mayor of Blue Mountain and former fire chief and water department superintendent for Blue Mountain, and attended Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Blue Mountain.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Blue Mountain cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ila; a daughter, Beverly Corley of Magazine; a son, Keith Newman of the home; a sister, Cleo Harwell of Blue Mountain; a brother, Claude Newman of Magazine.
Pallbearers will be George and Tod Newman, Michael Elliott, Edward Higgs, Adam and Lonnie Carter, Mark Grubbs and Willie Roark.

Iris Irene Keller Dorman, 88, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Dec. 3, 1915, in Yale, Okla. She was the widow of George Dorman.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lawson cemetery in Yale, Okla. under the direction of Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Tulsa.
She is survived by a sister, Nina Hearn of Fort Smith; and two brothers, Tom Keller of Kosse, Texas and Noble Keller of Victoria, Texas.
Anna V. “Granny” Bateman
Anna V. “Granny” Bateman, 92, of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she worked in the nursery for over 35 years. She went 28 years without missing a Sunday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Freeman Bateman, and son Coach Ronnie Bateman. She was a loving mother, grandmother and caregiver for many children.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Harold Bateman and wife Jo of Fort Smith; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bateman of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Steve Bateman, Patti Johnson, Cheryl Price, Jean Ann Sadler, Rhonda Sanford, Karen Hill and Karrie Combs; and 11 great-grandchildren.
