HUNTINGTON — Billy “Bart” Elmore, 75, of Huntington died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, in his home. He was a retired truck driver for Arkhola Sand and Gravel Co.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Huntington cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi; five daughters, Leslie Earnest of Corona Del Mar, Calif., Pam Colley and Tammy Pruitt, both of Huntington, Billie Bates of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Rosetta Brackman of Van Buren; a sister, Charlene Pope of Huntington; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lola Thompson
Lola Thompson, 84, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Pilot Point, Texas. She was a Baptist and a retired cashier for the Fort Smith Water Department, and she worked for the Wide Awake Cafe in the 1950s.
Memorial graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the pavilion of Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay Tucker of Russellville and Stephanie Whitehead of Fort Smith; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Morris Jenkins
CONWAY — Morris James Jenkins, 86, of Conway died in Conway. He was born June 28, 1918, in Greenwood. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, a 60-year member of the International Typographical Union and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Conway with burial at 3 p.m. at Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
He is survived by his wife, Dylis; a daughter, Danette Mize of Conway; a brother, Charlie Jenkins of Lowell; and a grandchild.
The body may be viewed and the family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Georgia Neel
Georgia Ethel Neel, 92, of Fort Smith, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born March 31, 1912. She was retired from Hollywood Vasserette in Arkadelphia and was a lifetime member of Richwoods Baptist Church and a member of Fianna Hills Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was the widow of Harold Neel.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richwoods Baptist Church with burial at Richwoods cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
She is survived by a daughter, Norma Asbridge of Fort Smith; a son, Jerry Neel of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary and Lola Manning, both of Arkadelphia; a brother, Charles Murrell of Arkadelphia; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Chunn, Mike and Robbie Cain and Jake, Dennis, Scott and Rodney Neel.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Michael Duane Napier
Michael Duane Napier, 34, of Dyer died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1970, in Fort Smith. He was a resident of Dyer, was of the Assembly of God faith and was an employee of Whirlpool for 12 years. Preceded in death by his father, Floyd Napier.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with burial at Dyer City cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by his companion, Laurie Hartsfield of Spiro; a son, Christopher Michael Napier of Alma; his mother and stepfather, Charlene and Charles Scott of Dayton; his maternal grandmother, Alice Julian of Van Buren; a sister, Melody Price of Dyer; two brothers, Jerry Don Medlock of Van Buren and Randy G. Medlock of Dyer; two stepbrothers, Charles Junior Scott and James Scott, both of Waldron; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Julian, Jerry Ray Cecil, Jimmy Mark Medlock, Johnny Bull, Bryant Underwood, Kenneth Rosson, Russell Drewry and Jimmy Ray Julian.

Phala Davis Flanders
Phala Davis Flanders passed away at 12:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born July 30, 1926, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Jessie Kennedy and Landon Vardo Davis. She was the granddaughter of congressman Cyclone Davis of Texas. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1943 and was an honor graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Phala was an active member of First United Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Builders Sunday School Class, past president of United Methodist Women and a member of the PEO Chapter AS and Wednesday Club. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don Flanders Sr. She and Don were married
Dec. 15, 1946.
She is a loving mother of three children, Don Flanders Jr. and wife Valerie, Dudley Flanders Sr. and wife Charlotte, and Kathy Cotten and husband Larry; five grandchildren, Gretchen and husband Sean McGinnis, Bridget Flanders, Dudley Flanders Jr. and wife Tanya, Jessie Flanders and Shelby Varner; and one great-grandchild, Madison Flanders.
Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. A private family committal will be in the U.S. National cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Builders Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of First United Methodist Church following the memorial service.

Dennis Ray Keyes
Dennis Ray Keyes, 52, of Greenwood died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, in Greenwood. He was a work foreman for the city of Greenwood Street Department, a member of Greenwood Lodge No. 131 F&AM, a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of the Vietname War.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by he former wife, Patricia Keyes of Jenny Lind; one son, Jason Keyes and his wife, Mandy, of Greenwood; two daughters, Kristin Efurd and husband Shane of Bonanza, and Kristi Keyes of Lake Alfred, Fla.; three brothers, Don and Tony Keyes of Greenwood and Damon Keyes of Pocola; two sisters, Sue Graham and Janet Holz of Lavaca; three grandchildren, Allyssia and Ashton of Bonanza, and Marissa of Lake Alfred, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, from 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bo Littleton, Vince Jankowski, Greg Cross, Willie Manes, Vernon Wilkey and Steven Spearman.
Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Brown
Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Brown, 74, of Benbrook, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ridglea West Baptist Church. Burial will be at noon at Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Western Hills Baptist Church in his name.
Gene was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Fort Smith. He served in the Air Force during the 
Korean War and moved to Texas in 1957. He retired from West Side State Bank in 1986 as a senior vice president. In 1988, he opened B&K Bookkeeping and Tax Service and continued the business until the day of his death.
Gene loved caring for others above his own wants and desires. He had been a member of Western Hills Baptist Church since 1976, where he served as a deacon, was on numerous committees and helped lead many mission trips to Colorado and New Mexico, building and rebuilding churches for the Lord. He was a member of West Side Optimist Club for 25 years and Benbrook Lions Club for over 10 years. Helping others through these organizations brought joy to his life. Many times he would go out of his way for a stranger.
Gene was a loving husband and father who believed in high morals and values. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Gene loved golf, camping, fishing and hunting. He never took life for granted, and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Maxine Brown; brother Jerry Brown; and granddaughter Stacy Soltys.
Survivors: loving wife, Rita Brown; daughter, Cheryl Soltys; sons, Curtis Brown and wife Judy, Kenneth Brown and wife Karen, and Bradley Brown; grandchildren, Heather Soltys, Amanda Morgan and husband Rodney, and Patrick Brown; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Michael Morgan; sister, Marilyn Acuff and husband Walter; sister-in-law, Betty Brown; mother-in-law, Kathleen Coffey; favorite uncle, Van Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert Jones
BOONEVILLE — Robert Gene Jones, 34, of Booneville died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Booneville. He was a roofer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Carolan cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; two daughters, Tusha of California and Charity of the home; four sons, Robert, Jacob, Larry and Joshua, all of the home; four sisters, Beth Terry, Cindy Stropes, Trish Brown and Mandy Karow, all of Booneville; and two brothers, Steven and Michael Jones, both of Booneville.

Robbie Patrick
OZARK — Robbie Patrick, 85, of Ozark died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, in Ozark. He was retired from the Mulberry Lumber Co. and the widower of Bonnie Patrick.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark with burial at New cemetery in Mulberry.
He is survived by seven daughters, Cricket Perry, Linda Berna, and Trish Frazier, all of Dyer, Juanita Shrum and Betty Chittick, both of Ozark, Shirley Kimes of Mulberry and Christine Hesson of Alma; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

William Walker
HACKETT — William Chester Walker, 62, of Hackett died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, in Talihina. He was born July 23, 1942, in Kennick, Mo.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Slaytonville cemetery in Slaytonville under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home of Talihina.
He is survived by his children, Cinnamon Bowers of Alma, Don Kinser of Van Buren, Mark and Martha Walker, both of Oklahoma, Penny Hancock and Frankie McAlester, both of Poteau, and Thair Galyer of Missouri; a brother, Leon Walker of Nevada; and 16 grandchildren.
Jack Donovan
Jack Vernon Donovan, 55, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a former tow truck driver for Triple A in California, and of the Church of Christ faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Crystal Ross of Van Buren; two sons, Marshall Donovan of Van Buren and Jason Donovan of California; a sister, Debra Adams of Barling; a brother, John Donovan of California; and seven grandchildren.

GREENWOOD — Derwart “Bob” Dabbs, 84, of Greenwood died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in a local hospital. He was an auto mechanic and retired from Whirlpool. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Howard Hill Assembly of God with burial at Gentry cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two daughters, Mary O’Dell of Huntington and Paula Barnes of Duncan, Okla.; three sons, Robert, Alvin and Andrew Dabbs, all of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.

CHARLESTON — Orpha Lee Milam, 77, of Charleston died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born July 8, 1927, in Cecil. She was a dairy farmer and a homemaker, and a member of the Cecil Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Cecil Methodist Church with burial at Cecil cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, A.C.; two daughters, Elizabeth Milam of Rudy and Teresa Milam of the home; a son, Gerald Milam of Cecil; and a sister, Wanda Byrd of Statesville, N.C.
