Diane Davidson Blount
Diane Davidson Blount, 55, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at St. Edward Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dunkin and Maxie Davidson.
She loved animals, quilting and e-mailing friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Blount; stepmother, Bea Davidson of Granbury, Texas; brother, Donald Davidson of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Badeaux and Steve Badeaux of New Orleans; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Epler and Alan Epler of Bentonville; and two grandchildren, Austin Epler and Allison Epler of Bentonville.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society or a local animal shelter.
Leonard Antone Wilhelm Jr.
Leonard Antone Wilhelm Jr., 60, of Fort Smith passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004. He was an insurance adjuster for Shelter Insurance Co., a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a private pilot and avid aviation enthusiast who built and maintained experimental and antiques airplanes. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Wilhem.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Denise Dodd and husband, Rob of Fort Smith and Celia Curtis and husband, Larry of Naples, Fla.; two stepchildren, Laura Purvis and Andy Purvis, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Magnon of Fort Smith and Teresa Przybysz and husband, Larry of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Amber Dodd and Logan Dodd, both of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Andy Purvis, Rob Dodd, Larry Curtis, Jay Weichert, Logan Dodd and Baron Wylie.
E. Herbert Bost
E. Herbert Bost, 77, of London, England, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in London, England. He was a financial consultant and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Bost.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Curtis of Rosemont, Calif.; one grandson, Warren Curtis; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Warren Curtis, Del Forsberg, Dale Leinenger, Colin Harris, Jim Kirk and Daniel Caberaro.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary.
Glen Porter
Glen W. Porter, 81, of Van Buren died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in a local nursing home. He was an Army veteran and the retired owner and operator of Porter’s Antiques.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hurst of Van Buren; a son, Glen Porter of Santa Fe, N.M.; a sister, Margaret Pulley of Sun City, Ariz.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no public viewing.
Carolyn Zimmerman
RUSSELLVILLE — Carolyn Zimmerman, 62, of Russellville died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital. She was born Dec., 23, 1941, in Little Rock. She was a 1975 graduate of the University of Nebraska, an elementary teacher at Huntington Elementary School and Clinton Elementary School in Lincoln, Neb., a member of Russellville Lions Club, serving as a member of the board, president of River Valley Council of the Blind, the Arkansas State Council for the Blind, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial at Pisgah cemetery in Pottsville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; five sons, Edwin Zimmerman Jr. of Van Buren, Mark Zimmerman of Leigh, Neb., David Zimmerman of Virginia Beach, Va., Jeffrey Zimmerman of Humphrey, Neb., and Mike Zimmerman of Danville; a sister, Peggy Lemon of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Allen Behrens of Lincoln, Neb.; and 14 grandchildren.
Iola Elwood
Iola M. Elwood of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born May 5, 1909, in Menlo, Iowa. She was a champion horsewoman of the Arkansas Valley Rodeo, a member of the Presbyterian Church, a member of the Russellville Square Dance Club and the widow of Sam Elwood.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Elwood-Kuh of New York City; and a son, Jim Elwood of Fort Smith.
Fauna Brasher
Fauna Brasher, 70, of Hackett died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and her granddaughter, Jessica Lind.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lind of Hackett and Patricia Hoopengarner of Hartford; a son, Danny Brasher of Fort Smith; a sister, Genia August of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two brothers, Bob Totten of Sparta, Mo., and Gary Totten of Castle Rock, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
Rev. Robert Bodine
The Rev. Robert Bodine, 78, of Alma died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in a local hospital. Mr. Bodine was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Woodlawn Memorial park in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; two daughters, Cathy Zuccharo of Van Buren and Linda Blaylock of Edmond, Okla.; six sons, Jimmy Bodine of Dyer, Bobby Bodine Jr. and Joey Bodine, both of Alma, Tommy McMellon of Greenwood, Ricky Bodine of Lavaca and David Bodine of Muldrow; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his sons. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ricky and Randy Highsmith, Tommy McMellon III, Josh Blaylock and Jason Bodine, and his brother-in-law, Bobby Harris.

Alfred M. Chadwick, 86, of Van Buren died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in Van Buren. He was born July 4, 1918, in Rudy. He served in the Army during World War II and was a retired machinist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Morris cemetery in Bloomer.
He is survived by a son, Douglas Chadwick of Fullerton, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sonja Krolski of Mukwonago, Wis., and Patricia Tillman of Buena Park, Calif.; a stepson, Harold Minikel of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister, Iris Ellertson of Olympia, Wash.; two grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren.

WALDRON — The Rev. Lemuel Crabtree, 79, of Waldron, formerly of Mena, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004. He was a Pentecostal minister.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Salem Baptist Church in Nunley with burial at Nunley cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by seven daughters, Mona Terrell of Danville, Dorothy Staley of Potter, Bonnie Gillean of Ronoake, Texas, Judy Hanselman of Mena, Betsy Ceja of Arlington, Texas, Josephine Weeks of Acorn and Julie Broch of Hatton; three sons, Theodore Crabtree of Wickes, Billy Crabtree of Springdale and Emmanuel Crabtree of Colorado; two sisters, Opal Strother of Ink and Maria Crabtree; 30 grandchildren and 21 great-granchildren.

Gary David Powell, 38, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in his home. He worked as a machinist for D & N Machining and was a Navy veteran and a member of Valley View Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mount Zion cemetery in Hackett. He is survived by his wife, Viki; two daughters, Victoria King and Hope Powell of Fort Smith; a son, Jordan Powell of Fort Smith; his parents, David and Nancy Powell of Hackett; and a sister, Kimberlie Ledbetter of Fayetteville.

Antion E. Miller
Antion E. Miller, 95, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired veteran of the Navy after 30 years of service. He served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and received the Commendation Ribbon, the World War II Medal of Honor for Bravery and Valor.
He is survived by a brother, Louie and wife Marguerite Miller of Baytown, Texas; a stepdaughter, Judy Haynes of Barling; and a stepson, Billy Campbell of Fort Smith. Three grandchildren, Michael Jones, Jason Henderson, and Heather Haynes; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Yarbrough, Brandon Henderson, and Christian Haynes.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith at 2 p.m. under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Dwain Rogers, 48, of Mountainburg died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired self-employed welding products salesman and a veteran of the Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; one daughter, Natasha Hamilton of Mountainburg; one son, Ian Rogers of the home; his mother, Emma Rogers of Mountainburg; one brother, Kelly Rogers of Mountainburg; one granddaughter, Collette Ross of Mountainburg. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.

PARIS — Dolores A. “Bobbie” Jackson, 63, of Paris died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Paris. She was an LPN for the Paris Retirement Inn.

She is survived by her husband, Henry; three daughters, Jamie Short of Cabot, Jennifer Early of Conway, and Jolynn Shull of Memphis; a son, Jay Jackson of Delaware; four sisters, Chris Schulterman of Paris, Millie Reber of Houston, Mary Sargent of Fort Smith, and Betsy McAnally of Hot Springs; two brothers, Joe Becker of Paris and John Becker of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren.

MENA — Janie Irene Josephine Neri, 23, of Mena died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in her home. She was born Nov. 25, 1980, in Maywood, Ill. She was a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by her fiancee, Gregory Rogers Jr. of Mena; two sons, Tony and David Rogers, both of Mena; and her mother, Kim Radon and husband Jan Radon of Trevor, Wis.
Thelma Ghormley
Thelma L. Ghormley, 83, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Shoal Creek. She was a retired cafeteria manager for the Fort Smith School District, a member of Spradling Baptist Church, and the widow of Willie Ghormley.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Ghormley of Fort Smith and Pattie Leonard of Greenwood; a son, Roger Ghormley of Tulsa; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from noon to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
