William Baskin Jr.
OZARK — William “Bill” A. Baskin Jr., 81, of Ozark died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Ozark. He was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Paris. He was a retired district supervisor for Arkansas Western Gas, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member and deacon of Ozark First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ozark First Baptist Church with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Molly Campbell of Springdale and Sherron Bornmann of Ozark; two sons, Bill Baskin of Springdale and David Baskin of Ponca City, Okla.; two sisters, Sissy Thomas of Subiaco and Hilda Mooney of Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Baskin of Atlanta and Gerald Baskin of Paris; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; andd 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Jarrod Reano, Montie Canady, Ken Wheeless, Scott Baskin and Bill Sullivan.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Ozark First Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Allen Cooper
Allen Cooper, 90, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Weddington. He was a retired sales manager for Randall Ford, a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Sebastian County Mounted Patrol for over 40 years.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; a daughter, Joyce Wright of Fort Smith; three sons, Rick and Ronney Thompson, and Rusty Cooper, all of Fort Smith; two sisters, Maxine Cassat of Maumelle and Marguerrite Johnson of Muldrow; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of Sebastian County Mounted Patrol.
Terrel Gordon
FARMINGTON — Terrel Glen Gordon, 84, of Farmington died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in Farmington. He was a retired Baptist minister, a graduate of the University of Arkansas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Memorial service was held Saturday at Farmington First Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Chapel of Fayetteville.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two daughters, Betty Webb of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Ruth Halterman of Navajo Dam, N.M.; a son, James Gordon of Farmington; two sisters, Virgie Sparks of Fort Smith and Sue Shockley of St. Louis; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Richard Libby
BOONEVILLE — Richard Lee Libby, 72, of Booneville died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a wood carver and finisher, a veteran of the 
Korean War serving as a combat engineer for the 8th Army, a member of the bluegrass band Wildwood Tradition, and a member and former deacon of the Waldron Church of Christ and Topeka Church of Christ.
Life celebration will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Waldron Church of Christ Family Center with burial at Duncan cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; a daughter, Cindy Barber of Russellville; a son, Ricky Libby of Booneville; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his family.
Wanda Clark
Wanda Clark, 71, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a retired certified nursing assistant for Medi-Homes Nursing Home in Fort Smith, and the widow of William Clark.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Liberty cemetery near Altus.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary Boisvert and Stacie Wyninger, both of Mulberry, Barbara Vickers and Marsha Miller, both of Fort Smith, and Mildred Ross of Howe; a son, David Clark of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mildred Phillips of Rudy and Betty Lindsey of Cameron; a brother, Jimmy Robertson of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Laramie Ross, Shawn Fowler, James Thompson, Brad Phillips, Howard Wilson, Kenny Warmke and Gerald Wyninger.
E.H. “Pat” Patterson
E.H. “Pat” Patterson passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, after a courageous fight with cancer in Rogers, surrounded by his wife, Marilyn, and their children. Formerly of Fort Smith, Pat resided in Naples, Fla., was a member of First Baptist Church of Naples and had a home in Rogers.
The seeds of Patterson’s successful career were sown on his childhood farm outside of Amory, Miss., where he grew up without electricity, actually plowed behind mules, picked cotton, and learned the virtue of hard work. After graduating from high school, he was called into active duty with the 31st Infantry Division, the “Dixie Darlings,” after joining the National Guard “to get a new pair of shoes.” Upon completion of his military service in 1952, Patterson enrolled at Ole Miss. He worked his way through school and in 1955 was awarded a bachelor’s degree in accountancy. Patterson began his accounting career in public practice, working several years with Touche Ross & Co. In 1966, he left public practice to work for Lockheed.
In 1967, Patterson joined the Donrey Media Group, where he rose to executive vice president and chief financial officer in 1970. In addition to his responsibilities with Donrey, Patterson served as trustee and vice chairman of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation until he retired in 1994. The Foundation honored Patterson in 1997 with a $16.5 million gift to the University of Mississippi. The E.H. Patterson School of Accountancy is named in Patterson’s honor.
The Rev. Cliff Palmer of Rogers, a family member, and Dr. Dale Thompson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, will officiate at the memorial service for Pat to be held at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A private graveside service will be held at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith preceding the memorial service. Pat’s wife and family members will be at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith today from 6 to 8 p.m. to welcome visiting friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L. Patterson; Gary Michael Patterson, son, of Memphis; Pamela Jo Holt, daughter, and husband Robert of Paducah, Ky.; Allan Keith Patterson, son, and wife Jackie of Paducah, Ky.; Hayly Ann Wiggins, daughter, of Paducah, Ky.; Cheri Lynne Douglas, daughter, and husband William Douglas Jr. of Fort Smith; Stephen Jeffrey Cowan, son, of Tulsa; Kimberly Anne Beeson, daughter, and husband Dustin Beeson of Fort Smith; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Neal Pendergraft, Henry “Ruff” Fant, Mark Lewellen, Kevin Hanna, Ed Mahaffey, Darrell Loftin, Doug Smith and Rick Rayson.

Thurman Sipes
Thurman Sipes, 76, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad, an Army veteran of the
Korean War, and a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; a daughter, Kay Moore of Van Buren; two sisters, Jeanette Cash of North Little Rock and Dorothy Bailey of Cabot; two grandchildren, Paul and Katie Moore, both of Van Buren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be David Meeh, Tom Whitley, Roger Morris, Ross Blythe, Jimmy Deer and Jim Putman.

Kenneth Scott Adams, 32, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in his home. He was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, H.C. Adams; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams; and one brother, Breck Adams.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Sara Lovette of Fort Smith; and two sisters, Debbie Springer and husband Jeff of Van Buren and Cherie Sullivan and husband Eric of Hartselle, Ala.; his stepfather, Norris Lovette of Nashville, Tenn.

Milton L. Minchew
Milton L. Minchew, 73, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired real estate investor and developer of Minchew Properties, a member of Northside Church of Christ of Greenwood and the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce, and a Navy veteran of the
Korean War. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Minchew of Pine Bluff. He and Joyce Conner were married
for 52 years.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; a daughter, Sarah Taylor and husband Jerry of Tulsa; a son, David Minchew and wife Jan of Frisco, Texas; three sisters, Hazel Box of Noblesville, Ind., Grace Oden of Longview, Texas, and Barbara Gibson of Star City; two brothers, Dee and Morris Minchew, both of Hallsville, Texas; and five grandchildren, Jordan and Hannah Taylor of Tulsa, Katie, Michael and Tyler Minchew of Frisco, Texas.

Adetona Oluyomade “Prince” Lipede P.D.
Adetona Oluyomade “Prince” Lipede P.D., 64, of Fort Smith entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Lagos, Nigeria, the son of Adeboye and Theodosia Lipede. Adetona was a retired pharmacist for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center after 25 years of service and a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, where he was a choir member; he sang in various schools and churches all of his lifetime, received his master’s degree in business administration at Webster College, his pharmacist degree at University of Mississippi and was a member of Omega Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Patience Omodele Lipede of the home; two daughters, Aderonke Libede, attorney at law, and Adebisi Lipede, an international computer consultant, both of Boston; a brother, Dr. Adelu Lipede of St. Louis; sister, Badejoko Lipede of Lagos, Nigeria.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith. Family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

Jackson Hall Williams
Jackson Hall Williams, 22, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Van Buren. He was valedictorian of the 1999 class of the Kemper military Academy and a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith. He had attended University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
He is survived by his parents, Fred and Shirley Williams of Van Buren and John and Betsy Bender of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Katie Cravens of Van Buren, Olivia Bender of Dallas, and Elizabeth Williams of Van Buren; one brother, Bryce Bender of Austin, Texas; grandparents, Betty Williams of Van Buren and John and Elizabeth Yeoman of Hot Springs Village.
There will be a gathering of friends and relatives from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at First United Methodist in the Narthex.

PARIS — Martha Alfreda “Byrd” Friddle, 74, of Paris died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper for the family business, a member of the Eastern Star; active in First Baptist Church in Paris, the Early Birds and Southside Baptist Church in Paris; and an election day worker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Landmark cemetery near Chismville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by her husband, J.W.; three daughters, Martheda Wheeless of Ozark, Luana Cauley of Alma, and Yvonne Hunter of Mountainburg; a son, James Friddle of Charleston; a sister, Oleda Bennett of Ratcliff; a brother, David Byrd of Fort Smith; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Virgil Goodwin
VANDERVOORT — Virgil Louis Goodwin, 86, of Vandervoort died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Mena. He was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Manitou, Okla. He was a retired Baptist minister, a former volunteer at Baylor Hospital in Texas and involved in Meals on Wheels program.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Chatanooga, Okla., with burial at Frederick cemetery in Frederick, Okla. Local arrangements under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, LouAnn Hebron of Vandervoort; two sons, John Goodwin of Nucla, Colo., and James Goodwin of Burnswick, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hebron, Shawn and Ryan Goodwin, Charlie Blake, Lester Oschner and Arthur Ochner.
Maudie Taylor
WALDRON — Maudie Mae Taylor, 95, of Waldron died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, attended Packsaddle Church, and was the widow of Lemmie Taylor.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Packsaddle Church with burial at Freedom cemetery near Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by five daughters, Elizabeth Parks of Palmdale, Calif., Rachael Noe of Park Hill, Okla., Jewell Griggs of Waldron, Mae Dearman of Tecumseh, Okla., and Bonnie Breshears of Mount Ida; a son, Ray Taylor of San Bernardino, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
