Winfred A. White

BAY -- Winfred A. White, 67, of Bay died Tuesday, Aug. 23, at NEA Medical Center.

Born at Benton, he was a carpenter and a Mason.

Survivors include a son, Chance A. White of Sherwood; a daughter, Victoria Paulson of Warrenton, Va.; three sisters, Patsy Jenkins of Malvern and Alta Leigh Spann and Helen Watts, both of Benton; two brothers, Howard White of Sardis and Johnny White of Alabama; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Norene White; and two brothers.

Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland, with Robbie McMasters officiating.

Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Ophelia 'Doll' Wilson

CORDOVA, Tenn. -- Ophelia Lucille "Doll" Wilson, 89, of Cordova, formerly of Osceola, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

Born at Talladega, Ala., Wilson was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Joiner. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Coker of Tulsa, Okla., Angelean Penermon of St. Louis and Deborah Patrick of Cordova; two sons, Derrice Wilson of New Orleans and Oscar Wilson of Gary, Ind.; five sisters, Serena Wilson, Dorothy Reaux, Nazarene Goodon and Elsie Morris, all of Chicago, and Etta Knox of Detroit; a brother, Lawrence Goodman of Gary; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Joiner, with the Rev. R.L. Johnson and the Rev. C.L. Redd officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteside Cemetery at Osceola. Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Charles R. Gibson

ASH FLAT-- Charles R. Gibson, 67, of Ash Flat died Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Born at Tupelo, he was a retired self-employed businessman and co-founder of Gibson Container, a corrugated paper manufacturing plant in Tupelo, Miss. He attended Ash Flat Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Joann, of the home; three daughters, Terry Ross of Conway, Julie Duncan of Ash Flat and Tammie Owens of Oxford; a son, Chuck Gibson of Ash Flat; his mother, Guelda Gibson of Agnos; three brothers, Waymon Gibson and Joey Gibson, both of Tupelo, and Don Gibson of Agnos; a sister, Ginger Hollingshad of West Plains, Mo., seven grandchildren, Travis Duncan, Keith Duncan and Nathan Duncan, all of Ash Flat, Scott King of Ravenden Springs, Brian Ross and Brandi Ross, both of Conway, and Amber Gibson-Bean of Ash Flat; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hanly Gibson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Keith Gregson officiating.

Burial is in Highland Cemetery at Highland.

Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, David Gibson, Danny Gibson, Dwayne Seamster, Bob Wadley and Marty Ross.

Honorary pallbearers will include Tony Schlehuber, Tommy Tucker, Bill Nix, and Gerald Powell.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Ash Flat Church of Christ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.

Fred Hendrix Sr.

OSCEOLA -- Fred Hendrix Sr., 85, of Osceola died Monday, Aug. 22.

Born at Earle, he was owner of the Taystee Grill Cafe and Pop's Cab, a member of Osceola First Baptist Church, a World War II Air Force Veteran and a member of the Osceola Fire Department for 53 years. He was awarded the E.W. Sewell Award for being selected as Fire Chief of the Year for the state in 1972.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Hendrix of the home; two sons, Allen Wesley Hendrix and Fred Hendrix Jr., both of Osceola; two daughters, Susan Dillard and Venecia Hendrix, both of Osceola; two brothers, Walt Hendrix of Jackson, Tenn. and Jon Hendrix of Evening Shade; two sisters, Vera Erwin of Lufkin, Texas and Becky Williams of Osceola; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.S. and Rebecca Smith Hendrix; four brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Osceola First Baptist Church, with Dale Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in Osceola under the direction of Roller-Swift Funeral Home of Osceola.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Osceola First Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Henderson, Bob Henderson, Eldon Walker, Phillip Fleming, Mike Cox, Michael Godsey, Alton Darty, Ray Williams and Jerry Elrod.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jim Belue, Chessie Jones, Ray Rigsby, Sonny Prewitt, past and present Osceola firefighters and the Sims Men's Sunday School Class of Osceola First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Osceola Fire Department Equipment Fund.

Henry Corall Hill

WILSON -- Henry Corall Hill Jr., 60, of Wilson died Monday, Aug. 22, at NEA Medical Center.

Born at Providence, R.I., he was a graduate of Wilson High School, an Army veteran and worked as an engineer for Viskase for 29 years. He was a member of Nodena Baptist Church of Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Smith Hill; a son, H.C. "Hank" Hill III of Wilson; a daughter, Angie Hallmark of Wilson; three brothers, Tommy Hill of Wilson, David Hill of Osceola and Joe Hill of Joiner; two sisters, Jean Smith of Wilson and Margaret Tucker of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Hank Hill and Greenly Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Corall and Helen Marjorie Rowe Hill.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Swift Funeral Home of Osceola, with the Rev. J.E. Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Nodena Baptist Church.

Nelson Hoggard

PUXICO, Mo. -- Nelson "Dude" Hoggard, 67, of Puxico, formerly of Piggott, died Monday, Aug. 22, at his residence.

He was born in Milligan Ridge.

Survivors include his wife, Terina Hoggard; a son, Randy Hoggard of Dexter, Mo.; a daughter, Teresa Dill of Puxico; a stepdaughter, Katrina Baker of Puxico; a stepson, Cody Baker of Puxico; a sister, Lorene Henson of Greenway; three brothers, Bobby Hoggard and Jimmy Hoggard, both of Piggott, and Charles Lawhorn of Paragould; and four grandchildren, Contessa Hoggard, Kevin Baker, Patrick Stallings and Lindsey Stallings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Augusta Lindley Hoggard, four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, with Ronnie Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery.

Gary Kee

JONESBORO-- Gary Kee, 64, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 23, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Mary Katherine Lindsey

POCAHONTAS -- Mary Katherine "Sissy" Lindsey, 75, of Pocahontas died Monday, Aug. 22, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Pocahontas, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Bob Lindsey and Bill Lindsey, both of Pocahontas, and James Lindsey of Subiaco; two daughters, Rosena Neighbors of Pocahontas and Cathy Oetjen, both of Maynard; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle E. "Peck" Lindsey; her parents, Robert A. and Agnes Promberger Schratz; and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Cleary officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery at Pocahontas under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The rosary service will begin at 7 p.m.

Larry E. Mahon

JONESBORO-- Larry E. Mahon, 69, of Jonesboro died Monday, Aug. 22, at his residence.

Born at Jonesboro, he was an orthopedic surgeon and practiced in Jonesboro until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of many professional and medical or ganizations, was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and attended Mount Car-mel United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Mahon, of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Mahon of Dallas, Texas and Vince Mahon of Cabot; three daughters, Paula Carter, Joni Burks and Mia Bailey, all of Jonesboro; a brother, J.C. Mahon of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Katherine Evans Mahon and a sister.

A private graveside service will be held at Jonesboro Memorial Park. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will include J.D. Salmons, David Landis, Dr. Richard Burns, Dr. Herman Alston, Roy Secrease and Dr. Bill Shanlever.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Development Foundation Home Health Program.
