James Smith
HACKETT — James T. “Jake” Smith, 78, of Hackett died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, in Fort Smith. He retired from Whirlpool and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel of Greenwood, with burial at Old Union cemetery in Hackett.
He is survived by his wife, Leta Mae Smith; three daughters, Judy Moran of Greenwood, Ann Beubauer of Fort Smith and Sharon Matlock of Hackett; one son, Charles of Hackett; one sister, Dorothy McLaughlin of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John Blythe
John Homer Blythe, 81, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, in a local hospital. He retired as a factory worker. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church, the Friendship Club in Van Buren, RSVP and the Ray Baker Center.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith, with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene; one daughter, Sherry Russell of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Katrina and Kerry Russell; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler and Cody Russell.
Pallbearers will be Wally Portman, Kerry and Andrew Russell, Shawn Abshere, Steven Goldman and Pete Ramsey.
Reba June Krajewski
Reba June Krajewski, a lifelong resident of Fort Smith, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Dallas.
She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church and retired from Hancock Fabrics.
She has now joined the true love of her life, her husband, Vick Krajewski.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Blevins and husband Larry of Dallas and Judy Meador and husband Sandy of Dallas; three grandchildren, Cindy Diamantaras, Mindy May and Dusty Meador; and great-grandchildren Evan and Nicholas Diamantaras and Kaitlyn May.
Visitation will be today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
Funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial at Barling City cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Phyllis Watson
Phyllis Watson, 67, of Alma died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1936, to Roger and Gretchen “Shorty” Gray. She was a retired cook at El Palacio Restaurant in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Watson of the home; a daughter, Marcy Ball of Barling; three sons, Don Watson of Van Buren, Barry Watson of Fayetteville and Bruce Watson of Fort Smith; one brother, Douglas Gray of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with burial at Alma cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Roxanne Measles
Roxanne Measles, 18, of Mulberry, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Mountainburg. She was a senior at Mountainburg High School and a member of the Dragons Marching Band and color guard for several years. She was also active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She is survived by her mother, Darlene Pete of Mulberry; her father, Robert Franklin Measles of Marysville, Calif.; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Measles and Trisha Measles of Mulberry; paternal grandparents Carol Measles and Doyle Blevins of Mulberry; and several uncles.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reavis Hill Assembly of God in Mountainburg with burial at Pope cemetery in the Graphic community under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Grab, Dusty Grab, Jeff Hampton, Levi McGill, Cole Smith and Steven Horn.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mountainburg High School class of 2005.
Janice Davis
Janice Davis, 50, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a vault manager for Choctaw Casino in Pocola.
She is survived by a son, Trae Davis of the home; two sisters, Judy Jones and Vickie Alverson, both of the home; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma chapel with burial at Newberry cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Raymond and Chris Rofkahr, Randy and Jonathon McGhee and Robert Belt Jr.

Melva Bullington VanVlack
Melva Bullington VanVlack, 95, of Charleston died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in Charleston. She was born April 3, 1909, in Vesta to the late Baxter Lee and Ella McConnell Bullington. She was a 1928 graduate of Charleston High School and received her BS and MA degrees in home economics from the University of Arkansas.
She taught school in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Alabama. She was employed by the state of Arkansas as a home economist with the extension service for Pulaski County and Sebastian County, where she retired. She received many awards and honors in her career.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clark VanVlack; two brothers, Carl Clyde Bullington and Milus William Bullington; and three sisters, Ruby Ann Irene Ledbetter, Alice Rebecca Bullington and Mae Roselia Stephens. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charleston, the Arkansas Federation of Democratic Women’s Club and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston.
She is survived by a sister, Norma M. Buchanan of Eastaboga, Ala.; a brother and sister-in-law, Baxter Lee and Peggy Jo Bullington of Tulsa; and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Tuesday at Smith Mortuary.

Andrew Jackson Hobbs
Andrew Jackson Hobbs of Lavaca departed this life Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the age of 85 years, seven months and 17 days. He was born March 20, 1919, to William Isaac and Lynn Hobbs. He was a lifelong resident of Lavaca.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean, of the home; four sons, Larry and Janis Hobbs of Stratford, Okla., Joe and Mary Hobbs of Lavaca, Isaac and Cheryl Hobbs of Lavaca and Richard Hobbs of Fort Smith; two daughters, Jacquie and Sonny McKinney of Van Buren and Kathy and Bill Baker of Fort Smith; one brother, John B. Hobbs of Lavaca; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Dale Crampton Roofing Co. in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Bob Smithson, Riley Brown, Carl Rose, Rodney Knucke, Truman Nixon and Tom Seaton.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Island cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Chronister officiating under the direction of Smith Mortuary, Charleston.
Polly Eudola Jennings
Polly Eudola Jennings, 84, of Clarksville died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in a Conway nursing home. She was born May 20, 1920, in Johnson County. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Clarksville and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Crowden, and a sister, Haskell Crowden.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ in Clarksville with burial at Mount Airy cemetery north of Clarksville under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Jennings Sr.; two daughters, Willie Patterson Davis and Beth Hodges, both of Greenbrier; two sons, Herbert L. Jennings Jr. of Scranton and Dr. James Jennings of Bangladesh; two sisters, Ellen McCarley of Lamar and Emogene Crotts of Mulvane, Kan.; three brothers, Gene Crowden of LaRussell, Mo., Richard Crowden of Lamar and Norman “Skeeter” Crowden of Clarksville; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Craig and Greg Patterson, Dustin and Cody Smith, and Tyler and Kory Loop.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Lawrence Jennings III, Joey and Anna Mamary, Noah Wright, Drake, Lindsay and Payton Patterson, Morgan Jennings and Brooke Johnson.

Robert Core
CONWAY — Robert Lee Core, 75, of Conway died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Conway. He was born July 10, 1929, in Branch. He was retired from Shell Oil Co., an Army veteran of the 
Korean War, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Paris and the Cornerstone Bible Church in Conway.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial at Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Alene; two daughters, Kathy Schultz of Conway and Renee Hudson of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, Mike Core of Ventura, Calif., Chris Core of Springdale and Steve Wagner of Ventura, Calif.; five sisters, Marie Martin of Fort Smith, Louise Piestrack of Aberdeen, N.C., Mary Campbell of Camillio, Calif., Eleanor Horne of Ventura, Calif., and Anna Mae McCormick of Stillwater, Okla.; three brothers, Pat Core of Scranton, Dan Ray Core of Caulksville, and J.H. Core of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Cox, Kendall, Steve and Rick Core, Mickey Martin and Marty Lowrey.

Juan Montelongo
LAMAR — Juan Federico Montelongo, 18, of Lamar died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Little Rock. He was a student and a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Clarksville with burial at Minnow Creek cemetery in Lamar under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his parents, Federico and Araceli Rabago Montelongo of Lamar; two sisters, Pamela and Marisol Montelongo, both of Lamar; and two brothers, Rodolfo and Francisco Montelongo, both of Lamar.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hugh Means
SPRINGDALE — Hugh D. Means, 73, of Springdale died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Springdale. He was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Van Buren. He was hospital administrator for more than 30 years at Northwest Medical Center, formerly Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was also administrator of Bates Memorial Hospital for five years. He was past president of the Midwest Health Care Congress in Kansas City, Mo., and the Arkansas Association of Hospital Administrators and was an adviser to the Northwest Arkansas Hospital Administrators. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Springdale Rotary Club and Springdale Masonic Lodge.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Springdale.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; a daughter, Shannon Lee Sigmon of Springdale; a son, David Charles Means of Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Hilary Harris of Springdale; a stepson, Greg Harris of Harrison; two sisters, Allene Meadors of Del Ray Beach, Fla., and Mae Berger of Fort Smith; two brothers, Nathaniel Means of Fort Smith and Blaine Means of Springdale; and three grandchildren.

Brandon Horton
Brandon Horton, infant son of Heather and Bruce Horton of Van Buren, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Little Rock.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Kayla and Makenzie Horton of the home; a brother, Blake Horton of the home; maternal grandparents, Peggy and Johnny Stepusin of Van Buren; paternal grandfather, Robert Sheffeld of Alma; and paternal great-grandfather, Elmer T. Baker of Richmond, Texas.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount McCurry cemetery Arbor under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
