Jaunita Lea Carney
Jaunita Lea Carney, 78, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was a retired caregiver for Area Agency on Aging and a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Gene” Carney Sr.; and her twin, Onieta Jaurqui.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Hays, Betty Franklin and Jo Ann Boster, all of Van Buren; one son, William E. “Bill” Carney Jr. of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Ronnie Ashley of Hot Springs, Clarissa Mays of Arkadelphia, Jordain Carney of Greenwood, Alisa Hays, Randy Ashley, Brad Boster, Brent Boster, all of Van Buren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dalton Lewis
MENA — Dalton Clifton Lewis, 80, of Mena died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Mena. He was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Board Camp. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a furniture finisher and attended Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with burial at Lower Big Fork cemetery in Opal under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a companion, Alida Newbolt of Mena; two sons, Rick Lewis of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., and Jeff Lewis of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two brothers, Carroll Lewis of Mena and Vernon Lewis of Dallas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Judah Shaler
Judah Margel Shaler, infant son of Thomas and Barrie Shaler of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith.
A private service will be held at Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Hannah Shaler of the home; paternal grandparents, Don and Linda Shaler of San Bernidino, Calif.; and maternal grandmother, Gail Bradshaw of Fort Smith.

Norman Long
Norman B. Long, 92, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired public accountant, a member of First United Methodist Church and the Aldersgate Sunday school class and of both National and Arkansas Society of Public Accountants, an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the widower of Mary Long.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church and burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by a son, Charles Long of Fort Smith; a sister, Jeanette McElhanon of Hot Springs; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aldersgate Sunday school class of First United Methodist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Soui Siharath
Soui Siharath, 90, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born July 15, 1914, in Vientiane, Laos. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Khamsy and Boulay Siharath, both of Fort Smith, Thikham and Khamvey Siharath, both of Laos; four sons, Phoui and Poui Siharath, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Nhoui Siharath of Fort Smith and Thouy Siharath of Canada; 50 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Harold Grist
PARIS — Harold Grist, 82, of Paris died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a farmer, worked in pipe line construction and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Raney cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by a sister, Lila Richardson of Pasco, Wash.; two brothers, Clayton Grist of Charleston and William Grist of Paris.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Roy Moss Sr.
GREENWOOD — Roy Moss Sr., 81, of Greenwood died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in his home. He was a retired employee of the City of Fort Smith.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gentry cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Verna; two daughters, Marla McClain and Paula Porter, both of Greenwood; two sons, Roy “Guy” Moss of Greenwood and Richard Moss of Huntington; two sisters, Bertha Henry of Poteau and Norene Asbell of Roseville, Calif.; three brothers, Donnie Moss of Spiro, Cecil and Junior Moss, both of Greenwood; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Dorothy Wilson
WELLTON, Ariz. — Dorothy Louise Wilson, 69, of Wellton, Ariz., formerly of Booneville, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in Wellton. She was a homemaker and a member of Glendale Baptist Church near Booneville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd; two daughters, April Pugh of West Minster, Md., and Phyllis Lee of Tulsa; a son, Robby Wilson of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; a brother, Carl Conner of Phoenix; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger and Joshua Pugh, Troy Lee, Joel and Adam Cox, Mark and Mike Talley.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Peggy Shaw
Peggy Jeanne Shaw of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Fort Smith.
The body was cremated under the direction of Affordable Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Collins of Fort Smith and Mary Long of Davisville, W.Va.; three sons, Fredric Long of Fort Smith, Tracy Long of Clearwater, Fla., and Ron Raditch of Fort Myers, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Nicholas Gatewood
RUDY — Nicholas Dirk Gatewood, infant son of Angela Gatewood of Rudy, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in Little Rock.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount McCurry cemetery Arbor in Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Winter Gatewood of the home; and maternal grandparents, Vivian Gordon of the home and Tom Gatewood of Alma.

Bobby Maxwell
Bobby J. Maxwell, 55, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Fort Smith. He was an electrician for Planter Peanuts for 21 years and a member of Mixon Baptist Church in Booneville.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at 3 p.m. at Caulksville cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Sherry Woollum of Castro Valley, Calif.; one son, Bobby Jr. of Bend, Ore.; two stepsons, Marty Price of Ratcliff and Kris Price of Greenwood; two brothers, Donald Maxwell of Denver and Kenneth Maxwell of Benton; two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Russell Bell, Russ Evans, Paul Howard, Billy Wilson, Russell McDaniel, Jim Steele, Bill Rider and Otis Arnold.

Grace Singleton
BOLES — Grace Lou Singleton, 63, of Boles died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in her home. She was a homemaker.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Chant Pentecostal Church of God. Cremation was under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by her husband, Herman; five daughters, Virginia Jones of Tulare, Calif., Denise Hines and Stacy Willingham, both of Y-City, Patricia Hegwood of Houston and Melody Chorley of Janesville, Calif.; three sons, Harvey Hargis and Herman J. Singleton, both of Y-City, and Kenneth Singleton of Waldron; her mother, Iona Burns of San Diego; five sisters, Charotte Hargis and Ardrey Frary of Tulare, Darolyn Gaylor of Texas, Sherry Kelly of San Diego and Carol Sue; three brothers, Samuel Burns of Cave Junction, Ore., Robert Bryant of Clover Dale, Calif. and Gatlin Bryant; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James Whitlock
ALMA — James “Fred” Whitlock, 88, of Alma died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired service station attendant.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren, with burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; a daughter, Sandra Henson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Jerry of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren, Perry Henson Jr. and Christina Nalley, both of Tulsa.
Pallbearers will be Mark Nalley, Perry Henson Jr., Toby and Todd Medlock, Robin Cameron and Rusty Cagle.
The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Floriene Lamb
PARIS — Floriene Rose Phillips Lamb, 76, of Paris died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Paris. She was a member of Presbyterian Church in America in Russellville, Frontier Researchers, Daughters of the American Revolution, North Logan County Hospital Auxiliary and the widow of Elmo Marion Lamb.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Lamb Hall of Padre Island, Texas, and Kay Lamb Newman of Greenwood; three sons, Richard of Paris, Dennis of Navarre, Fla., and Pat of Greenwood; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe D. Hall Jr., Tony Newman, John Hall and Rick, James, Bill R., Bill M., Tyson and Michael Lamb.

Chester McElhaney
OZARK — Chester Argest McElhaney, 96, of Ozark died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in his home. He was a retired owner/operator of small businesses in the Ozark area, including restaurants, grocery stores and rental property. He was the widower of Attie (McKenzie) McElhaney.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark, with burial at Highland cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hyler of Ozark; six sons, Dean of Conway, Bob of Ozark, Bill of Bennett, Colo., Argest of Hooks, Texas, Louis of Lawrence, Kan., and Ealeard of Tuttle, Okla; one brother, Luther of Lake City, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dean, Bob, Bill, Argest, Louis and Ealeard McElhaney.
