Edmond Hatfield
Edmond Hatfield, 77, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Van Buren, a mason and member of Belle Point Lodge #20, retired from Bruce Lighting Center and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the Fort Smith National cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Linda Strickland of Randolph, N.J.; one son, Ed Hatfield Jr. of Cambridge, Mass; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Tyler Strickland.
Pallbearers will be David and Steve Oliver, Norman Dunn, Sherman Smith and Ralph and Charles Shultz.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2117 Alma Blvd., Van Buren, AR 72956.

Paul Speer
Paul E. Speer, 74, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was a baker with Syferts Bakery for 32 years, an Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Smith National cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; one daughter, Tammy Speer of North Little Rock; one son, Brian of Van Buren; one sister, Bonnie Syfert of Fort Smith; two brothers, Robert of Little Rock and Billy Joe of Bell Gardens, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Patricia and Jeffery Speer.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Ft. Smith, AR 72917, Calvary Baptist Church, 2301 Midland Blvd., Ft. Smith, AR 72904 or the donor’s choice.

RHED KHILLING
Rhed Khilling, 46, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in his home. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietname War, a video producer at Five Star Video in Fort Smith and a member of Fort Smith Little Theater.
Memorial celebration will be 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Fort Smith Little Theatre. The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Clark; his father, W.E. “Bill” Khilling of Fort Smith; two brothers, Charles of Witcherville and John of Atlanta; four nieces and four nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Smith Little Theatre or the Sebastian County Humane Society.

LERA MARTIN
BOONEVILLE — Lera A. Martin, 97, of Booneville died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Booneville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Booneville with burial at Carolyn cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by one brother, Jack Foster of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be James and Brett Foster, Mike and Billy B. Cauthron, H.B. Griffey, Herb Couvillion and Mitch Madden.

DORIS BARIOLA
LAKE VILLAGE — Doris Jeannine Rogers Bariola, 59, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Chicot Memorial Hospital. She was owner/operator of Greenville Convalescent Home in Greenville, Miss., a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, a volunteer for Lake Village Food Bank, served as vice chair of the Chicot County Republican Party, was an election volunteer and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bellaire Baptist Church and graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Russell cemetery in Belleville, both under the direction of Griffin-Steele Funeral Service of Lake Village.
She is survived by one son, Ryan Bariola of Little Rock; two daughters, Janet Lofton of Greenville, Miss., and Nancy Edwards Pryor of Fort Smith; her father, Eugene Rogers of Belleville; five brothers, Charles “Bud” Rogers of Lavaca, Ledain Rogers of Booneville, Richard Rogers of Mount Ida, and James and Michael Rogers, both of Belleville; four sisters, Mollie Copeland of Bryant, Elaine Hancock of Batesville, Lynda Rogers of Fort Smith and Lori Mitchell of Little Rock; and six grandchildren, Misty, Alana and Kristen Medina, Hilary Breedlove and Aaron and Andrew Pryor.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

MARY HOOD
ALMA — Mary Rebecca Hood, 58, of Alma died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in Alma. She was of the Assembly of God faith and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home chapel in Alma with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; two daughters, Terra Hood of Plainview and Lisa Hood of Dana Point, Calif.; three sisters, Freda Adams and Ann Gabbert, both of Independence, Mo., and Naomi Ruth Duniven of Alma; five brothers, Joe Medlock of Dyer, J.E. and Jimmy Medlock, both of Alma, Jerry Medlock of Van Buren and Jerald Medlock of Altus; and one granddaughter, Madelyn Hood of Plainview.
Pallbearers will be Joe, J.E., Jimmy, Jerry, Jerald and Mike Medlock and Harlene Jackson.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

JACK SHACKLEFORD
MAGAZINE — Jack Max Shackleford, 51, of Magazine died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Sanford.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by two daughters, Megan and C.J. Shackleford, both of Booneville; two sons, Carl and J.D. Shackleford, both of Booneville; his mother, Juanita Shackleford of Booneville; two sisters, Betty Dawson and Beverly Greenhaw, both of Booneville; and one brother, Doug of Booneville.
Pallbearers will be Donald Quick, Jake Shackleford, Gordy Haynes, Shawn Bess, Jimmy Pearcy, Pepper Dawson, Justin, Nathan and Brandon Thompson.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MAMIE MANNING
Mamie L. Manning, 80, of Van Buren died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a Baptist and was retired from OK Foods.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roller Cox chapel in Clarksville with burial at Knoxville cemetery in Knoxville.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Sumner of Lincoln and Lillian Storment of Van Buren; two brothers, Daniel Elam of Knoxville and Richard Elam of San Diego; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

FRED SHELTON
PARIS — Fred Shelton, 84, of Paris died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in a Paris hospital. He was a retired plumber at Fort Chaffee, a Navy veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Monday at Fort Smith National cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; one son, Michael Shelton of Paris; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

SARAH FARMER
CLARKSVILLE — Sarah Elizabeth McNeal Farmer, 84, of Paris died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Clarksville. She was a homemaker, a member of Rebecca Lodge of Nederland, Texas, and a member of Prairie View Methodist Church. She was the widow of John Nelson Farmer.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roller Funeral Home of Paris with burial at Prairie View cemetery in Prairie View.
She is survived by one son, Jim of Houston; one brother, John W. McNeal of Paris; and one grandson, Cody McNeal Farmer;
Pallbearers will be Larry M. Garner, Glen O. McNeal, Spec Breed, J.D. Knight, Ross Rogers and Jim Parker.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WILLIAM WILLIAMS
OZARK — William Oden Williams, 96, of Ozark died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in an Ozark nursing home. He was a member of Ozark Church of Christ, an oil field worker and former grocery store owner.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by one son, Larry of Rescue, Calif.; and one sister, Wanda Hahn of Winters, Calif.

ALMA BECK
WICHITA, Kan. — Alma Anne Beck, 90, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Sallisaw, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in Wichita. She was a retired school teacher in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas, a member of First Christian Church in Sallisaw, the Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group at Bethel Baptist Church and the Redbud Garden Club in Sallisaw. She was the widow of Marvin Thomas Orval Beck.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by one daughter, Mavin Anne Chupco of Holdenville, Okla.; one son, Orval Beck of Wichita; three sisters, Hazel Bowen of Hillsdale, Okla., Ruth Biggs of Pond Creek, Okla., and Wilma Vetch of Chelan, Wash.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church in Sallisaw and the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Lillie Hale
Lillie Bell Hale, 98, of Rudy died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Street Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was the widow of LeeRoy Hale.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Durham of Fort Smith; two sons, Leo of Rudy and LeRoy of Fort Smith; two sisters, Margaret Russell of Winslow and Jetta Mae Donelson of Van Buren; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Mike Schoeppey and Jerry, Larry, Bobby and Chris Hale.

Drennon Meadors
ALMA — Drennon Harold Meadors, 83, of Alma died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a retired appliance serviceman for Northern Illinois Gas Company.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Luke Lutheran Church in Fort Smith with burial and full military honors at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; one daughter, Margaret Ann Lareau of Lansing, Ill.; one son, Kenneth James Meadors of Carefree, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kent Drennon, Chad David Lareau and Melissa and Stephanie Nichole Meadors.
Pallbearers will be Floyd, Chad and Kent Lareau, Kenneth Meadors and Tony and Roger Jones.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Doyce Davis
MENA — Doyce Oscar Davis, 88, of Mena died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Mena. He was a timber worker, a farmer and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in First Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Board Camp cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; three daughters, Ruthell Bray and JoDean Hooper, both of Mena, and Brenda Rose of Hope; one son, Terry of Mena; one sister, Ethel Perkins of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Marvin of Celeste, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Leroy Atchley, Shirley Sirmon, Glen Turner, Bobby Lott, Gary Babel and Terry Keener.
