Hettie Colvard
PINE BLUFF — Hettie Burton Colvard, 98, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Pine Bluff. She was a retired teacher and taught bookkeeping, shorthand and typing in Charleston High School and grade school in Concord, Calif., retiring after 49 years of teaching, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and past matron and a member of First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff. She was the widow of Eugene Colvard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston.
She is survived by a sister, Vivian Hinkle Dillea of North Hollywood, Calif.; four grandchildren, Dianna Colvard Voyles and Edward Eugene Colvard, both of Wynne, Donnie Ray Colvard of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Denise Colvard Davis of Woodlawn; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law and caregiver, Ethel Buckner Colvard of Pine Bluff.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Allen Harold “Grandpa” Williams
Allen Harold “Grandpa” Williams, 75, of Van Buren died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Van Buren. He was a retired factory worker for a furniture factory, a Baptist and a 27-year member of No. 208 Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was preceded in death by four sons, David Langley, Edward Langley Sr., Ronnie and Donnie Williams.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Dyer cemetery in Dyer.
He is survived by his wife, friend and companion of 33 years, Jeannette; seven daughters, Phyliss Williams and Sandy McMaster, both of Wynne, Kim Harris, Crystal Williams and Brenda Ellenbarger, all of Van Buren, Nicci Williams of Fort Smith and Ruthie Elwan of Wilmer, Texas; four sons, Chester and Stanley Williams, both of Wynne, Frank “Bud” Williams of Van Buren and Homer Langley of Fort Smith; two sisters, Marylou Hiveley of Cherry Valley and Clara Hamilton of Michigan; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be D.D. Ellebnbarger, Chris and Stephen Williams, Homer Langley, Junior Ellenbarger and Robbie Kimberling.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin McKinney, Anthony Ellenbarger and Terry Lovell.

Carl Lester Robertson Sr.
Carl Lester Robertson Sr., 72, of Knoxville, Tenn. died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Knoxville. He was born July 31, 1929, Fort Smith. Carl grew up in Fort Smith, where he married
his wife of 34 years, Gweneth, who preceded him in death in 1984. Carl relocated to Oklahoma City in 1960 where he worked for the family owned Standard Cycle and Hobby Co. Carl later became general manager of Novel Ideas, Inc., in Oklahoma City. In 1976, Carl went on the found Robertson Home Products (“RHP”) a home textile business in Oklahoma City, until moving to Knoxville in 1986. He was a Rotary member, director of National Textile Association and headed numerous Masonic and Honorary Masonic Bodies. Carl attended the West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville. Carl had an infectious enthusiasm for life, living each day to the fullest. Having been a drummer with a swing band in his teens, Carl’s love for music continued throughout his life. Second to music came his love for flying, piloting his father’s plane on business trips in the late 1940s. An avid historian, Carl traveled extensively, taking in every bit of history about the places he visited and the sharing his experiences with family and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and was a beloved husband and devoted father.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by three sons, Carl Jr., Gregg and Steve and daughter-in-law, Valarie, all of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Courtney, Karli, Gregg Jr. and Blake; and his devoted and loving partner in life, Barbara Deck of Knoxville, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Blake Shannon, Mike and Ed Ward, Jerry Blankenship, Carl Jr., Gregg and Steve Robertson.

Robert James Monroe Sr.
Robert James Monroe Sr., 76, of Alma died Sunday, April 21, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a former resident and firefighter of Black Canyon City, Ariz., and a retired heat and air installer in Fort Worth, Texas.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith with full 
military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Fuller of Alma; a son, Robert Monroe Jr. of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary Ann Sarge and Ophelia Bell Carlton, both of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Mercedes M. Berry, Amber D. Roberts, Bobbie K., Hannah, Payton, Caylin and Raven Monroe, Tresa J., Billy G., Anita A. Cupples, Jessie M. and William W. Fuller; three great-grandchildren, Misty D. and Beth A. Cupples and Doug D. Fuller.
Macie Joe Lankford
Macie Joe Lankford, 81, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a life-long resident of Crawford County and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Will and Ella Lincks Evans and was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Doyle Lankford.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a brother, Doyal Evans of Van Buren; three nieces, Jo Frances McGrew and Janice Evans, both of Van Buren, and Jackie Evans of South Pasadena, Calif.; three nephews, Billy Lloyd, Jim and Lonnie Evans, all of Van Buren; several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

George Wilbern Scroggins
George Wilbern Scroggins, 90, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in his home. He was a farmer and a retired long distance truck driver for Allied Van and the Farmers Co-op. He also supervised German War Prisoners at Ogden, Utah, during World War II. Mr. Scroggins is the son of the late Ollie and Elsie Clark Scroggins.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at City Heights United Methodist Church with burial at Fairview cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Taylor Scroggins of the home; a daughter, Patricia Scroggins Ruden of Shorewood, Ill.; a son, James Scroggins of Van Buren; three sisters, Lovella Dahn of Cedar Springs, Mich., Lela Brents of Benton and Reatha Blaylock of Iuka, Miss.; four brothers, Clyde Scroggins of Hope, O.C., Henry and A.Z. Scroggins, all of Benton; five grandchildren, Eric and Greg Ruden, Jennifer Madson of Naperville, Ill., Dixie and Sandra Scroggins of Van Buren and six great-grandchildren.

Dale Lee Chidester, 60, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in a local hospital. He was retired from housekeeping at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with the Rev. Buddy Strickler officiating with burial at Barling City cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Lurena Baker of Fort Smith; a sister, Donna Shepard of Fort Smith; three brothers, Richard and Robert Baker, both of Fort Smith, and James Baker of North Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and his pet cat, Dinkie Poo.

Raymond A. Schmalz
Raymond A. Schmalz, 75, of Charleston died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in his home. He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Paris. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a retired grounds keeper for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a retired furniture worker for Riverside Furniture Company.
Rosary was held Tuesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston.
Mass will be 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; two daughters, Marilyn Riechmann and husband, Henry Riechmann III and Melinda McClure and husband, Rick, all of Charleston; three sons, Harold Schmalz and his wife June and Kenneth Schmalz and his wife, DeAnna, all of Charleston, and Ronnie Schmalz and his wife, Martha, of Lavaca; two sisters, Agnes Siebenmorgan of Conway and Olivia Fratesi of Grady; two brothers, Leonard Schmalz of Crowley, La., and Gerhard Schmalz of Pine Bluff; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

“Richard” Hobbs Sr.
“Richard” Hobbs Sr., 85, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born November 25, 1916 in Schaburg, Ark. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad during World War II. He owned and operated Richard Hobbs Auto Service for more than 50 years. He was a loving husband and father, a great mechanic and friend. He was an avid golfer, member of Rolling Knolls Golf and Country Club, Fort Smith Country Club and held many golfing records. He was a member of the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, Masonic Lodge and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Mary E. Hobbs; his parents O.C. and Nellie Hobbs; three brothers, Ray Hobbs, George Hobbs and Bobby Hobbs; and one granddaughter, Carla Hobbs.
He is survived by one brother, Eugene P. Hobbs of Van Buren; two daughters, Carolyn Richie Phillips of Fort Smith and Mary Jane Hobbs of Bentonville; one son, Charles Richard Hobbs, Jr. of Fort Smith; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mass was held Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were Terence Kramer, Rick Hobbs, Richard Hobbs Garrison, Don Garrison and Jeffrey Kramer. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Spahn, Dave Phillips, Finley Turner and Luther Stem Jr.

MENA — Scott Edward Williams, 39, of Mena died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in Mena. He was born May, 2, 1963. He was a maintenance man for Caron Apartments and attended Grace Bible Church.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Grace Bible Church. The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his mother, Ucele Williams of Mena; a sister, Kimberly Smith of Newport; and two brothers, Robert and Steve Williams, both of Mena.
Charley Carter
CLARKSVILLE — Charley Carter, 84, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in Russellville. He was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Jamestown. He was a machinist.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Sears of Clarksville; a sister, Lissie Carter of Clarksville; one grandchild, John Sears of Clarksville and two great-grandchildren.

Tommy King
OZARK — Tommy King, 58, of Ozark died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in his home. He was born March 22, 1944, in Clarksville. He was a retired electrician and a member of Atlus Eagles.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Airy cemetery in Johnson County under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Allie; two daughters, Shannon Whitson of Alma and Suzie Johnson of Ozark; two sons, Richard King of Ozark and Greg Thompson of Clarksville; his mother, Pauline McClaine of Ozark; two brothers, Steve and Walter King, both of Ozark; and 11 grandchildren.

PARIS — Lillie L. Corley, 93, of Paris died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in her home. She attended Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church most of her life and was the widow of Richard M. Corley.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church with burial at Springhill cemetery in Chismville under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a son, Raymond Corley of Paris; a sister, Jerry Rogers of Lavaca; a brother, Wilmer Barnard of Seattle; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

BONANZA — Junior Kuandart, 77, of Bonanza died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired miner and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Arkoma.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Arkoma with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; four daughters, Linda Wright of Pocola, Kathy Morris of Bonanza, Pamela Short of Arkoma and Tanya McLaughlin of Hackett; two sons, William “Tommy” Kuandart of Little Rock and Larry Kuandart of Hackett; a sister, Mae Belle Hood of Tuscon, Ariz.; two brothers, Lonnie Kuandart of Bonanza and Johnnie Kuandart of Midland, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Peerson, Bill Phelan, Jim Moore, Steve Kuandart, Frank Noland and Joe Lee.
