Sarah Maye Brugler, 69, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and the widow of Dale Brugler.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time; services are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by six daughters, Victoria Haney of Fort Smith, Sharon Reese of Terra Haute, Ind., Katherine Wicks and Dawn Armstrong of Florida, Lisa Wagner of Cincinnati and Melissa Brugler of Ohio; four sons, Tom Brugler of New Hope W.Va., Michael Brugler of Ohio, Hollis McBroom of Virginia and Scott McBroom of Hawaii; two brothers, Dallas and Sam Martin of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Frances Kathlyn Low
Frances Kathlyn Low, 82, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a retired administrative assistant for the Richardson, Texas, public school system, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a volunteer for Sparks Regional Medical Center.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sons, James Michael Low of Aiken, S.C., and Richard Alan Low of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister, Virginia Berndt of Ladue, Mo.; and four grandsons, David Michael, John Patrick, Matthew Alan and Ryan Alexander “Alex” Low. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellard George Henry Low after 49 years of marriage.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Michael Low, John Patrick Low, Matthew Alan Low, Ryan Alexander “Alex” Low, Dr. John Ben Stewart and Ed Vance.

Vallie Azbell
Vallie Azbell, 93, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a retired employee of Medi Homes Nursing Home in Fort Smith.
She is survived by three sons, James and Donald Azbell, both of Fort Smith, and Ronald and wife Catherine Azbell of Paris; one sister, Gertrude Ralls of Little Rock; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Azbell; a daughter, Louise Azbell; and a son, Wayne Wimberly.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Virginia McConnell Harrison
Virginia McConnell Harrison, 83, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born on Oct. 30, 1921, in Springfield, Mo., to Mary Elizabeth and T.T. McConnell. She was a retired teacher of home economics for the Cedarville Public School System. She was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University’s class of 1944. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a former member of the Jaycees and Fort Smith Newcomers.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Martin of Fort Smith and Barbara Smith of Mulberry; a son, Mickey Harrison of Fort Smith; one brother, Thomas T. McConnell Jr. of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Harrison.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at noon at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Joe Martin, Bob Martin Jr., Jeffrey Harrison and Khris Hickman.

Charles “Charlie” Feight
Charles “Charlie” Feight, 49, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a building subcontractor and a veteran of the Air Force, enjoyed motorcycling and outdoor sports like fishing and hunting and was a competitive pool player.
He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Feight of Fort Smith; two sisters, Phyllis Diane Cooper of Fort Smith and Mary Frances Ashle of Hot Springs; one brother, Patrick Gene Feight of Fort Smith; four nieces and five nephews; his special companion, Mary Sweem of Fort Smith; and his best friend, Isodore.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Beverly Rollins Carpenter
Beverly Rollins Carpenter, 48, of Calhoun, Ga., formerly of Fort Smith, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
She was born Thursday, Nov. 8, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, and was the daughter of William Rollins and Sylvia Rofkahr Rollins of Fort Smith. She was employed by Mohawk-Home Industries for 28 years as supervisor in the sample department.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Carpenter of Calhoun; her parents, William and Sylvia Rollins; four sisters, Deborah Rollins, Cynthia “Cindy” George; Cheryl “Sherri” Davis and Karen Przybysz, all of Fort Smith; two brothers, Douglas “Doug” Rollins of Fort Smith and David Rollins of Van Buren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, seven nieces, 10 nephews, six aunts, five uncles, four stepchildren and five step-grandchildren.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Funeral service was held on Nov. 14 at Thomas Funeral Home with burial service at Gordon Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
Grace C. Knight
Grace C. Knight, age 91, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, Wesley Sunday School Class, Chancellor Choir and Republican Women’s Association; she worked for the Salvation Army with the Angel Tree, AARP and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Knight.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Moore and her husband Buddy Moore of Fort Smith; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Willis and Mary Campbell of Van Buren and Billy Intres of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Bill Moore and his wife Debbie, and Michael and Timothy Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Deidre, Derek, Megan and Ashley Moore.
Pallbearers will be Bill, Michael, Timothy and Derek Moore.
Family visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thi Y. Mai
Thi Y. Mai, 75, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. Born Nov. 20, 1928, in Quang Binh, Vietnam, she was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Cu Trong Nguyen of the home; two daughters, Nga Thi Nguyen of Fort Smith and Xuan-Lan Nguyen (Luan Cong Pham) also of Fort Smith; four sons and their families, Long Viet Nguyen (Gam Thi Dong) of Fort Smith, Peter Nguyen (Thu Le Thi Ngo) of California, Tuan Trong Nguyen (Tuyet Nhu Thi Nguyen) of Georgia and Anh Ngoc Nguyen of Vietnam. She is also survived by sisters and brothers and other relatives both in the United States and Vietnam.
A family prayer service was held Friday night at 7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. Mass will be said 10:30 a.m. today at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at Calvary cemetery, Fort Smith, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith.
Billy Ray Jerden
Billy Ray Jerden, 60, of Van Buren died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a self-employed construction worker. He has held every position in the District 1 Volunteer Fire Department with the exception of fire chief. He was currently the chief engineer, consulting all stations and their operations. Billy knew how to work all the equipment and when a problem arose, the firemen went to him. He was a mentor to and highly respected by all the firemen. He was instrumental in all expansion projects for the District 1 Volunteer Fire Department since its inception.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Chester Ellis of Van Buren and Melissa and Ricky Tipton of Van Buren; three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Betty and John Jerden of Van Buren, Becky and Ricky Gossett of Roland and Bobbie and Bo Bowles of Ozark; three sisters, Theda June O’Kelley of Rudy, Georgia Bowlin of Van Buren and Patsy Holiman of Waveland; one sister-in-law, Bessie Jerden of Bond Special community; and 15 grandchildren.
The family-held memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Jerden will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

MENA — Robert C. Parker, 71, of Mena died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in Mena. He was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Dallas. He was an aircraft mechanic, a member of the Antique Airplane Association and Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association and of the Pentecostal faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Kim Scott of Mena; three sisters, Alta Badgett and Eva Carter, both of Dallas, and Margie Harvey of North Ridgeland Hills, Texas; and two brothers, Pat Parker of Carlton, Texas, and Alfred Parker Jr. of Bogalusa, La.
Pallbearers will be William Scott, Scott Horner, Robin Couture, David Horton, Slade Cunningham and Tim Murphy.
Virginia Henson
CEDARVILLE — Virginia Ailine Henson, 82, of Cedarville died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born May 20, 1922, in Fayetteville. She was a member and Sunday school teacher and a founder of Christian Life Ministries Church, a former teacher at Christian Life Ministries and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Salem cemetery in Cedarville.
She is survived by two daughters, Deloris Wesley and Elaine Williams, both of Cedarville; two sons, Gerald and Lee Henson, both of Cedarville; a sister, Betty Keysly; two brothers, Thomas Clark of Minneapolis and Billy Clark of Mansfield; 26 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Vincent and Robert Overby, Jim and Joseph Wesley, Stanley and Bobby Henson.
Randy Collins
CAULKSVILLE — Randy Dean Collins, 44, of Caulksville died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born April 23, 1960, in Downey, Calif. He was a volunteer at the Charleston Dog Shelter, bred and raised English bulldogs, a volunteer teacher at the Literacy Council in Fort Smith and served in the Air Force.
A private family memorial service was held Friday at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris with burial of cremains at Clark’s Chapel cemetery southeast of Caulksville.
He is survived by his mother, June Collins of Caulksville; a sister, Brenda Merritt of Charleston; and two brothers, Glen Collins of Hope and David Collins of Shreveport, La.

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Barbara M. Klenke Foster, 71, of Greensboro, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in her home. She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Cleveland. She attended Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith.
Memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith with inurnment at the church columbarim. Arrangements are under the direction of McCommons Funeral Home of Greensboro, Ga.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; three daughters, Catherine Kirkpatrick of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Toni Dally of Blakeslee, Pa., and Linda Neville of Edmond, Okla.; a son, Richard Foster II of Oklahoma City; a sister, Joan Klenke of Leeds, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

MENA — Edna Elvada Shafer, 105, of Mena died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Mena. She was born July 9, 1899, in Pogue, Pa. She was a homemaker, was of the Assembly of God faith and the widow of Harry Shafer.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at National Memorial Park in Arlington, Va. Local arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by two daughters, Beatrice Spraggins of Mena and Hazel Stanton of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Danny Jackson Jr.
PANAMA — Danny Leon Jackson Jr., 33, of Panama died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 1, 1971, in Reno, Nev. He was a factory worker and a 1990 graduate of Bokoshe High School.
A private funeral service was held with burial at Dog Creek cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Trena; a daughter, Breanna Jackson of the home; a son, Craig Jackson of the home; his parents, Danny and Fay Jackson of Clayton, Okla.; a brother, Walter Jackson of Oklahoma City; maternal grandparents, Allan and Eastel James of Panama; paternal grandparent, Oleta Sinclair of Poteau.
