Ronald Prince
ODEN — Ronald Prince, 57, of Oden died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in Mena. He was born June 1, 1947, in Hot Springs. He was a carpenter and a veteran of the Navy.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida.
He is survived by a sister, Deborah Collins of Oden; and a brother, Gregory Prince of Oden.
Earl L. Tinney
Earl L. Tinney, 69, of Kibler passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in a local hospital. In 1935 he was born in Bond Special, where he grew up. Earl served 13 years in the Air National Guard and was a retired self-employed mechanic and a volunteer firefighter. He was such a kind man with a compassionate heart who genuinely cared about people of all walks of life. If he was needed, he was there for you. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Earl fought a long, hard battle against Alzheimer’s disease. He was one who never said, “Bye.” He always said, “See ya later.”
He is survived by his wife, Yivanca Tinney of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Tinney of Fort Smith; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Wesley Shelly of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Jesse and Blake Tinney of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Tinney.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Newberry cemetery in Alma.
Pallbearers will be Jamie and Jason Shelly, Brandon and Lester Peters, Joey Cowin and Gary Peevy.
Jimmy Griffin
Jimmy Griffin, 81, of Fort Smith, went home to his savior on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in a local hospital leaving behind his wife of 57 wonderful years, Dolores West Griffin. His most cherished possessions were his children and grandchildren to whom he devoted his life. He was a graduate of St. Anne’s Academy in Fort Smith and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., where he earned a place in “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities,” was active in many school activities and chancellor of his fraternity, Omicron Sigma. He was active in St. John’s Episcopal Church, especially the boys athletic activities, and was a church school teacher. He spent his retirement years in Fort Smith and Fayetteville, returning to Fort Smith in March 2004. He is survived by one daughter, Gaye Griffin Barr of Little Rock; one son, Gray Livingston Griffin of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Shaun Christian Griffin and wife Brittany of Katy, Texas, Brandon James Griffin of Whitney, Texas, Leigh Nicole Griffin of Springdale, Emily Barr Traylor and husband Reichard of Spiro, Leah Nicole Barr Cohea and husband Keith of Prairie Grove; great-grandchildren, Hunter Donn Traylor, McKenzie Leigh Traylor, John Dillon Traylor, Brittany Nicole Cohea, Alexis Nicole Cohea and Trinity Griffin. Preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Vera Griffin; grandparents, Herman and Victoria Jeffries; and grandson, Johnathan Edward Barr. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial at Huntington cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clyde S. Gudermuth Jr., Darrell Lewis, Don Wilson, Bill Jarboe, Adam Blaylock and Bruce Brown.
Richard D. (Mike) Mickelson
Richard D. (Mike) Mickelson was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Brookings, S.D. He passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, after a lengthy illness. The youngest son of Louis and Pearl Mickelson, he is survived by one sister, Viola Hartley of White, S.D. On Dec. 28, 1955, Mike married
Rose Marie Simmons of Barling; they moved to Bushnell, S.D., for seven years, returning to Barling to raise their family. Mike was employed by Descent Control Inc. in Fort Smith for 30 years.
He enjoyed duck hunting and camping with his family; spending time with his grandchildren was one of his greatest enjoyments. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsmen, helping to build several houses and many craft items.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Rose; two sons, Danny and wife Teresa of Alma and Tommy and wife Bea of Hot Springs; two daughters, Pamela and husband James Glass of Van Buren and Tina Mickelson of Barling; blessed grandchildren, Atalie, Nathanael, Kelci, Taylor, Arron and Lexie; several nieces, nephews and special friends.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with burial at St. Mary’s cemetery in Barling.
Pallbearers will be Don Rubottom, Laura Worden, Larry A. White, Delbert Wipf, Aaron Becker and Phil Doss.
Memorials may be sent to Sacred Heart of Mary’s Catholic Church, 1301 Frank St., Barling, AR 72923. Relatives and friends are invited together with the family for lunch and fellowship at the church following the service.
Geneva Shields
GOLD BEACH, Ore. — Geneva “Jan” Shields, 92, of Gold Beach, Ore., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004. She was a longtime resident of Greenwood.
She is survived by two brothers, Raymond and Jerry Chaney.
Robert Duong
Robert Phu Thien Duong, 17, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born June 12, 1987, in Fort Smith. He was a student at Southside High School and was of the Buddhist faith.
Funeral will be at noon Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Xuan and Xuan Duong of Fort Smith; a grandmother, Pham Pham of Vietnam; a sister, Lynh Duong of Fort Smith; and a brother, Ly Duong of Fort Smith.
Jimmy Lloyd Jr.
LITTLE ROCK — James Robert “Jimmy” Lloyd Jr., 44, of Little Rock, formerly of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in San Antonio. He worked in the floral industry.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel in North Little Rock. The body will be cremated under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Kristin and Katherine Lloyd, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Misty Robertson of North Little Rock; his parents, Bud and Deana Lloyd of Sachse, Texas; a brother, Jeff Lloyd of Sachse; and two grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends following the service at Southern Wholesale Florist, 7501 Fluid Drive in Little Rock.
A memorial fund has been established for Kristin and Katherine Lloyd.

CLARKSVILLE — JoAnne Ernestine Moritz, 74, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Clarksville. She was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Los Angeles.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Moritz of Fresno, Calif., and Rena Moritz of Visalia, Calif.; two sons, Regie Moritz of Bakersfield, Calif., and Rod Moritz of Fresno; a sister, Gloria Bickley of Colorado; and three grandchildren.

Sarah Ellen Bolden, 80, of Van Buren, formerly of Wynne, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in a local hospital.
The body was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Ethel Chambers of Van Buren; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

CLARKSVILLE — James Elbert Sears, 67, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in a convalescent home. He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Ozone. He was a retired mechanic and the widower of Hazel Sears.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hedgeway Church with burial at Mount Vernon cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Tamara Joyner of Clarksville and Teresa Horras of Little Rock; a son, Craig Sears of Clarksville; three sisters, Olive Smedley of Springdale, Annabelle Moore of Oklahoma and Nora Meeker of Arizona; four brothers, John Sears of Clarksville, Charles Sears of Hartman, and Tommy Sears and Lee Sears, both of Mountain View; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Emma Dressendorfer, 87, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born June 20, 1917, in Fort Smith. She was a retired business office manager for Sparks Regional Medical Center and the widow of William Dressendorfer.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith with local arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by two sons, Dick Dressendorfer and Gary Dressendorfer, both of Fort Smith.
Vivian Swaim
BOONEVILLE — Vivian Swaim, 90, of Booneville died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Booneville. She was a homemaker and the widow of Marvin Swaim.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville.
She is survived by four daughters, Gail Pool, Cindy Kahanek, Linda O’Neal and Betty Fouts, all of Booneville; a son, Buel Swaim of Ozark; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Hazel Ann Kennedy
Hazel Ann Kennedy, 50, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph, of the home; her mother, Mable Auxier of Paintsville, Ky.; stepson, Chad Kennedy of Greenwood; sisters, Barbra Conn, Billy JoAnn Conn and Dee Dee Conn of Paintsville, Ky.; a brother, Henry Conn of Paintsville, Ky.
Robert “Bob” Schwartz
Robert “Bob” Schwartz of Valdosta, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Schwartz was born May 25, 1930, in Fort Smith to the late Joe and Angela Kramer Schwartz. He was a graduate of St. Boniface Elementary School and St. Anne’s High School in Fort Smith. After his 
military service during the
Korean War, he was the manager of the S.H. Kress Department Stores for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Sue Schwartz of Valdosta, Ga.; daughters, Theresa Schwartz Collins of Valdosta, Robin Schwartz Eason of Duluth, Ga., and Tiame Hannah Madelyn Schwartz of Valdosta; a son, Robert Eugene Schwartz Jr. of Athens, Ga.; stepsons, Johnny Thompson of Nashville, Ga., Ken Thompson of Valdosta and Darrell Thompson of Lakeland, Ga.; stepdaughters, Candy Vanek and Casandra Sawyer of Valdosta, and Alice Johnson of Monticello, Ga.; two sisters, Kitty Sue Schwartz Hug and Mary Beth Schwartz Meek, both of Fort Smith; brothers, Richard Schwartz of Russellville, Fred Schwartz of Kansas City, Mo., and Jack Schwartz of Fort Smith; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services.

Ima Lavern Edgmon, 73, of Charleston died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Charleston. She was born Dec. 5, 1931, in Pine Mountain to Vern Ramsey and Cora Ragsdale Ramsey. She was a member of Charleston First Free Will Baptist Church, a cook for Charleston Senior Citizens Center and Fort Chaffee, and former owner of Charleston Cafe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis Edgmon Sr.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by three sons, Cletis C. and Sue Edgmon of Nashville, Tenn., Gary and Cleta Edgmon of Charleston, and John and Janice Edgmon of Greenwood; two sisters, Genell Faires of Charleston and Virginia Jeffcoat of Central City; two brothers, Gerald “Cotton” Ramsey and Herman Ramsey, both of Charleston; nine grandchildren, Anthony and Lea Edgmon, Scott and Lisa Edgmon Benton, Jerry and Johnna Newby, Jeff and Angie Edgmon, Shannon and Nita Courtney, Tim and Sarah Hillier, Benjamin Edgmon, Craig Edgmon and Mary Stark; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Thompson
Myrtle Thompson, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, O.D. Thompson and Nellie Thompson; a sister, Ollie Elizabeth Thompson; and brother, Sherman Andrew Thompson. She was a lifelong member of Wood Memorial Christian Church. She worked for many years as an accountant preparing income tax returns. Myrtle is remembered for her loving spirit in helping those less fortunate than her.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Thompson Metcalf.

Troy Boyd Satterfield, 70, of Mountainburg died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Mountainburg. He was a resident of Mountainburg and a member of Revis Hill Assembly of God in Mountainburg. Preceded in death by his father, Olen Satterfield.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Revis Hill Assembly of God with burial at Peters cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by his mother, Effie Satterfield of Mountainburg; a sister, Gloria Pettygrew of Mountainburg; a brother, Lloyd Satterfield of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.
