MOUNTAINBURG — Joann Harrison, 72, of Mountainburg died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of the Living Waters Pentecostal Church in Chester, a homemaker and the widow of Lloyd Harrison.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Living Waters Pentecostal Church in Chester with burial at Chester cemetery in Chester under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Dutton, Kathy and Connie Seratt and Louise Williams, all of Mountainburg, and Shirley Friddle of Chester; a son, Charles Harrison of Mountainburg; a sister, Jessie Teague of Alma; three brothers, Joe Rankin of Skiatook, Okla., Frankie Rankin of Brentwood, and Charlie Rankin of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Williams, Jess, Steve and Lloyd Seratt, Raymond Friddle and Jonathan Atwell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Waters Pentecostal Church of the Hembee Cancer Center at St. Edward hospital.

Bonnie Medlock
Bonnie Sue Dyer Medlock, 66, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Muldrow. She was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Muldrow. She was a homemaker and of the Assembly of God faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roland City cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a son, Nathan Medlock of Muldrow; a sister, Willie Capehart of Fort Smith; a brother, Bill Dyer of Muldrow; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Price, Rick Montgomery, J.R. Surratt, Douglas, Billy and Larry Dyer.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

John Lancaster
OZARK — John Carroll Lancaster, 90, of Ozark died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in a local nursing home. He was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Graphic. He retired from the Arkansas Highway Department; he was a deacon at Mount Zion Regular Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Mulberry Masonic Lodge, and the widower of Maxine Lancaster.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Rankin cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Needham of Ozark and Pam Lancaster of U.S. Virgin Islands; a sister, Noma Hunter of Mulberry; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glen Harden, Dub and Bill Shankle, Paul Summerhill, Ebb Stewart and Fred Smither.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wayne Brewer
LARNED, Kan. — Wayne Levon Brewer, 54, of Larned died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in Larned. He was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Fort Coffee, Okla. He was a cook and had worked for the Holiday Inn and Bosselman’s; he graduated from Hutchinson Community College and a was member of Loyd Memorial Church of God in Christ in Salina, Kan.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Fort Coffee with burial at Fort Coffee cemetery under the direction of Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home & Crematory of Salina.
He is survived by his father, Eugene Brewer of Fort Coffee; and a brother, Edwin Brewer of Salina.

Norman Tyler
SCRANTON — Norman K. Taylor, 80, of Scranton died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Durham, N.C. He was retired from Procter & Gamble Co. as a plant supervisor; he was a member of Scranton United Methodist church, a Navy veteran of World War II, and the widower of Nieta Tyler.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Scranton United Methodist Church with burial at Ware’s Chapel cemetery in Dublin under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Ueckert of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be friends.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Luis Balleza
Luis Balleza, 69, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at San Luis Potosi in Mexico with local arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, Romana; two daughters, Maria DeJesus Balleza and Maria Balleza, both of Mexico; and seven grandchildren.

Duo Maxwell
Duo Sammael Maxwell, infant son of Shelly Brown and Leland Fleming Jr. of Fort Smith died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with cremation to follow the service.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Venus Fleming of Fort Smith; four sisters, Angelic Fleming of Fort Smith, Tyler Fleming of California, Savannah Minor of Cedarville, and Shylah Woods of Louisiana; six brothers, Damian Brown of Cedarville; Airabus, Calibos and Raven Fleming, all of Fort Smith; Jameson Shy of Oklahoma City; and Conrad Fleming of Van Buren; paternal grandparents, Leland Fleming Sr. of Van Buren, Zana Chambers of Fort Smith; maternal grandparents, Clayton and Donita Adams of Cedarville; and his great-grandparents.

Reynard Cummins
Reynard B. Cummins, 80, of Fort Smith, formerly of Pasadena, Calif., died Monday Dec. 6, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a retired investigator with Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, past president of Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Investigation Association, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 31.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two daughters, Wanda Benson of Fort Smith and Diana Bennett of California; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Nellie Jackson
MOUNTAINBURG — Nellie Faye France Jackson, 93, of Moutainburg died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Kennedy. She was a charter member of Mountainburg First Assembly of God, a member of Springdale Home Extension Club, a homemaker and the widow of Charlie France and Lewis Jackson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God in Mountainburg with burial at Vaught cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Lee of Delight; a son, Giles France Sr. of Mountainburg; three stepdaughters, Nadine Hamilton, Gail Brasher and Shirley Gallaway, all of Springdale; four stepsons, Herman Jackson of Whittier, Lester, Bill and Jim Jackson, all of Springdale; a sister, Alice Schader of Greenland; three brothers, Arlis Caselman of Downey, Calif., Arthur Caselman of Farmington, and Bob Caselman of Hemett, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randall Caselman, Troy Schader, Lanier and Allen France, Darrel Durbrow, Lavell Durbrow and Roger Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Assembly of God in Mountainburg.

Joan McCroskey
HARTVILLE, Mo. — Joan McCroskey, 84, of Hartville, Mo., formerly of Hatfield, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Hartville. She was born May 17, 1920, in Cove. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rocky cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Rogers of Hartsville and Rebecca Patrick of Oklahoma City; a brother, Glen Lowther of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Herbert Williams
Herbert Carl Williams, 54, of Van Buren died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004. He was born Jan. 8, 1950, in Cabot.
Graveside service was held Tuesday at Mount Carmel cemetery in Cabot under the direction of Thomas Funeral Service of Cabot.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Yarbrough of Van Buren; a brother, Ray Williams Sr. of Cabot; a stepson, Cameron Schuster of Van Buren; and one stepgrandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR 72205.

Allie D. Hickey
Allie D. Hickey, 95, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Van Buren. She was born in Pangburn and was the daughter of Hortense and Jack Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Hickey of Wagoner, Okla., in 1959; also, a grandson, Charles Hickey, two sisters and two brothers. She moved to Van Buren in 1965.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Weidman of Van Buren; one son, Eugene Hickey and his wife, Carol, of Wagoner; a grandson, Bill Weidman and his wife, Mary Jo, of Van Buren; a granddaughter, Patsy Patrick and her husband, Mark, of Singapore; three great-granddaughters, Whitney Weidman, Ashley Patrick and Madison Patrick; two great-grandsons, Ryan Weidman and Todd Richmond of Wagoner; several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Betty Henderson of Fort Worth, Texas.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service was held at Elmwood cemetery in Wagoner under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home on Monday by the Rev. Don Landers of Fort Gibson, husband of a niece.
Contributions can be may to the Heritage United Methodist Church building fund, 700 Pointer Trail, Van Buren.

Clarence Robert Tucker
Clarence Robert Tucker, 81, of Mansfield died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in his home. He was retired from Riverside Furniture, a member of Jamesfork Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Coop Prairie cemetery in Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace Tucker of the home; four daughters, Georgina Edwards and husband Albert, and Dorothy Morris and husband Pete, all of Mansfield, Wilma Chick and husband Bill of Hartford and Debra Sharp and husband Warren of Muldrow; a son, J.R. Tucker and wife Sharon of Mansfield; a sister, Lorene Helms of Mansfield; three brothers, Enoch “Buster” Tucker of Fort Smith, Willie Tucker of Mount Vernon, Texas, and David Tucker of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ethel Tucker; and one daughter, Carol Jean.

Charles “Chuck” Weathers
Charles “Chuck” Weathers, 57, of Charleston died Sunday Nov. 7, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a butcher for the Fort Smith Packing Co.
No services are planned. The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Sue Weathers Nichols of Fort Smith; a son, Charles Edward “Chuckie” Weathers of Bonanza; a sister, Georgia Bearce of Charleston; a brother, Vernon Curnutte of Missouri; one granddaughter; and one great-niece, Alexis Bearce.

Mary N. Christian
Mary N. Christian, 62, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was retired from the Sebastian Sheriff’s Office and former owner of Jim & Mary’s Restaurant.
Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, James Christian of the home; a daughter, Jami Marx of Fort Smith, and son-in-law, Alan Marx of Fort Smith; two sisters, Darla Goforth of Greenwood and Pat Hampton of Jenny Lind; and one grandchild, Sonya Marx of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Erma Pennington Sumners
Erma Pennington Sumners, 98, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Erma was the oldest of nine children born to Sam and Mary Ethel Pennington. She was born on May 26, 1906, in Charleston. She was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College and worked in a downtown Fort Smith office until her marriage to Floyd “Speedy” Sumners on Oct. 9, 1926.
She was a homemaker until the death of her husband in 1958, at which time she began working at Sparks Hospital, where she continued to work for the next 12 years. She later spent time in Ventura, Calif., where she worked in her sister’s clothing store. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Jane Ann Willcoxon, four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay Sumners Willcoxon of Melbourne, Fla.; a son, Davey Lee “Speedy” and Iris Sumners of Fort Smith; grandsons, Philip and Judy Willcoxon of Fort Smith, Jim and Rita Willcoxon of Melbourne, Fla., Davey and Sally Sumners of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robert Sumners, Randall Sumners and Charles Sumners, all of Fort Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Erica Leigh and Philip Grant Willcoxon of Melbourne, Fla.; one brother, James and Muriel Pennington, and one sister, Sue (Pennington) and Harvey Waldron, all of California.
There will be a graveside service today at 1 p.m. at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
