Mary Upton
ROLAND — Mary Emma Upton, 83, of Roland died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was a nurse’s aide, attended the Muldrow Senior Citizens Nutrition Center and was a Methodist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Rentfro of Muldrow; two sons, Ray Upton of Pottsboro, Texas, and Bill Upton of Muldrow; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Buddy and Chris Davis, David Monroe, Robert Rye, Brian Upton and Greg Coons.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lucretia Smith
Lucretia C. Smith, 84, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She was a retired caterer and lived in Apple Valley, Calif., before returning to Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a brother, Clarence Wilson of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at 1905 N. 12th St.

Kenneth Couch
HARTFORD — Kenneth M. Couch, 82, of Hartford died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in his home. He was retired from Whirlpool, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartford and the Mid-America Old Time Automobile Association and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Hartford with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene; a daughter, Nan Guffey of Hartford; a son, Mike Couch of Greenwood; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carrie Johnson
BEAR HOLLOW — Carrie Johnson, 65, of Bear Hollow died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in her home. She was retired from Greenwood Public School and was a member of Jenny Lind First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jenny Lind First Baptist Church in Jenny Lind with burial at Old Jenny Lind cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by a brother, Carl Johnson of Bear Hollow.
Pallbearers will be Don and Tony Crockett, Bill Dake, Harold Thames and Bob and Set Woodhull.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Beulah Dorman
BETHALTO, Ill. — Beulah S. Dorman, 90, of Bethalto, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in Alton, Ill. She was born July 4, 1914, in Midland and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethalto. She was the widow of James William Dorman.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartford First Baptist Church in Hartford with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Finke of Edwardsville, Ill.; two sons, James Carl Dorman of Gruver, Texas, and Joe Dorman of Springdale; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartford First Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Deacon’s Fund at the First Baptist Church in Bethalto; or to the Better Breathers Club at St. Anthony’s Health Center.

Elene Foltz
CLARKSVILLE — Elene Cook Foltz, 88, of Clarksville died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in Lamar. She was a homemaker and the widow of James Foltz.
The body will be cremated. Memorial service will be at a later date under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a daughter, Norma Hogan of Clarksville; a son, Charles Foltz of Clarksville; two sisters, Isabella Knighton of Louisiana and Lorene Cook of Little Rock; and a brother, Ralph Cook of Texas.

William Blackwell
CORNWALL, N.Y. — William “Bill” Blackwell, 46, of Cornwall, N.Y., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Cornwall. He was a veteran.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by a daughter, Christina Blackwell of Fairfax, Va.; a son, Stuart Blackwell of Cornwall, N.Y.; and a brother, Leslie Blackwell of Mississippi.

Opal Pigg
Opal B. Pigg, 89, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for the children’s department, and the widow of Cecil Pigg.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Estes of Fort Smith; two sons, James Pigg of Van Buren and Roy Pigg of Moore, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John and Larry Horn, Rob and Rhett Pigg, Rick Estes and David Bernard.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

RUSSELLVILLE — Beverly Cheryl Harvey, 51, of Russellville, formerly of Clarksville, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in Russellville.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Shady Grove cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her parents, K.P. and Geneva Harvey of Clarksville; and a brother, Lindy Harvey of Clarksville.

WHITEFIELD — Loyd E. Wren, 88, of Whitefield died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in Stigler. He was a farmer, a truck driver and the widower of Mrytle Wren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Palestine cemetery in Quinton, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Eufaula, Okla.; two daughters, Dollie Cooksey of Mojave, Calif., and Blanche Hester of Tehachapi, Calif.; four sons, Thomas Wren of Whitefield, Andy Wren of Bakersfield, Calif., Carl Wren of Arvin, Calif., and Rex Wren of Harrison; seven sisters, Nona Osborn and Jeanne Bender, both of Whitefield, Gladys Stephens of Burney, Calif., Freda Morris, Leola Reeder and Shirley Denny, all of Hoyt, Okla., and Mary Delay of Muskogee, Okla.; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Ruth Maas
Ruth I. Maas, 74, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Altar Society, Presentation Circle, Quilters Guild, a volunteer for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, retired owner and operator of Carousel Flowers and the widow of Robert Maas.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Maas of Dallas; two sons, Gary Maas of Madison, Ind. and Dr. Robert Maas of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Melba Schultheis of Fort Branch, Ind., Kleo Selby-Beasley of Claremont, Fla., and Dorothy Addy of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Norman Rexing of Mooresville, Ind.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Tran, Claude Eubanks, Bud Cooksie, Lou Fellwock, Mike Heathcott and Nelson Wakefield.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Norma Shibley
Norma Shibley, 80, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in Quincy, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Shibley Jr.; and a grandson, Jimmy Abbott.
Mrs. Shibley is survived by two daughters, Susan Abbott of Quincy, Ill., and Karen Fingerhut of Van Buren; and three grandchildren, Kylee Abbott of Quincy, Ill., and Colby and Katie Fingerhut, both of Van Buren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Fingerhut, James Abbott, Colby Fingerhut, James Minor, Elmo Evans and Benton Cone.

Robert L. Brewer
Robert L. Brewer, 90, of Mountainburg died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a self-employed sawmill operator and rock hauler. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.M. Brewer and Lizzie Doss Brewer.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brewer cemetery in Fern under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Mulberry.
He is survived by a niece, Jerlene and husband Monrow Carr of the home; a sister, Martha and brother-in-law Lewis Oxford of Mulberry; a sister-in-law, Lora Brewer of Mulberry; a brother-in-law, Johnnie F. Harrison of Mountainburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Harrison, Boyd Brewer, J.W. Young, Johnnie Young, Laymon Parker and Oliver McCollum.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
