Leo Keener
WALDRON — Leon Keener, 71, of Waldron died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a veteran of the Korean War and attended Boles Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waldron with burial at Lamb cemetery in Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; five sons, Bruce, John and Doug, all of Waldron, Larry of Tulsa, and H.D. of Needmore; four sisters, Lessie and Susie Slagle, both of Y-city, Nola Pope of Mena, and Bo Fisher of California; two brothers, Hershel Keener of Washington and Dale Keener of Y-City; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bob and Bill Slagle, A.G. Morrison, B.D. Mays, Keith, Donald, Ryan and John Brown.
The body may be viewed 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lloyd Banhart
OZARK — Lloyd Banhart, 69, of Ozark died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Ozark. He was born Oct. 8, 1935, in Altus. He was retired from Mulberry Lumber Co., and a Baptist .
There will no services. The body was cremated under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by tow daughters; two sons, three sisters, Ann Owens of North Bend, Wash., Sarah Atkerson of Wenatchee, Wash., and Bobbie Lovell of Altus; a brother, Harold Banhart of Wenatchee, Wash.; and several grandchildren.

Sarah Mahar
Sarah Sue Mahar, 61, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born July 19, 1943, in Fort Smith. She was a certified dietary manager at Brownwood Life Center.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, James; a daughter, Christie Darter of Fort Smith; two sons, James Mahar of Van Buren and Ronnie Mahar of Fort Smith; five sisters, Evelyn Sangster and Jane Young, both of Van Buren, Dean Murchison of Mountainburg, Jackie Hollis of Lake Charles, La., and Linda Brixey of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brownwood Life Center, 2121 Towson, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Geneva Pieper
Geneva Pieper, 95, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 20, 1909, in Loveland, Colo. She was a retired telephone switchboard operator, of the Lutheran faith, and the widow of Alroy Pieper.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Muncy of Sierra Village, Calif. and Ginger Liotta of Fort Smith; and six grandchildren.
There will be no public viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church.

Loyal Stewart
DOVER — Loyal “Sis” Stewart, 83, of Dover died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Russellville. She was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Pope County. She was a member of Dover United Methodist Church, past president of United Methodist Women, and the widow of Gale Gray and Evert Stewart.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dover United Methodist Church with burial at Owens cemetery in Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
She is survived by a daughter, Sonya Lee of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Saundra Van Huss of Pasa Robles, Calif.; two sisters, Jazzine Page of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Emma Brandt of Coos Bay, Ore.; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dover United Methodist Church.

Joyce Plunkett
LANCASTER, Calif. — Joyce Eileen Plunkett, 63, of Lancaster died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Lancaster. She was born May 30, 1941, in Vandervoort.
The body was cremated under the direction of Mumaw Funeral Home of Lancaster, Calif. Burial of cremains will be at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Cove.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby; a daughter, Elizabeth Woodard of Lancaster, Calif.; and a sister, Delora Farmer of Mena.

Greta Sosebee
CAULKSVILLE — Greta Gail Sosebee, 52, of Caulksville died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Caulksville. She was born May 2, 1952, in Altus. She was a retired school teacher, taught school in Caulksville, County Line and Elaine, she taught music and was a Sunday school teacher and member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Hess cemetery in Coal Hill.
She is survived by her mother, Joan Sosebee of Altus; two sisters, JoEtta Hawkins of Ratcliff and Patti Alexander of Springdale.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell and Don Hurst, Steven and Don Sosebee, Steve Alexander and Nolan Hawkins.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Morton
OZARK — Donald J. Morton, 81, of Ozark died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a self-employed home repairman and a member of Altus-Ozark Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
No funeral services are scheduled and there will be no public viewing. The body will be cremated and cremains will be buried at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Lorraine Haydon of Indianapolis and Carol Michaelson of Orinda, Calif.; four sons, Darrell and Joe Morton of Page, Ariz., David Morton of Greencastle, Ind., and Aaron Jones of Edmond, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Diana Wilson of Ozark; his mother, Allie Highers of Henderson, Tenn.; two stepbrothers, Alan and David Highers, both of Henderson, Tenn.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of Diana Wilson in Ozark.

Vernon West
MAGAZINE — Vernon Lee West, 74, of Magazine died Monday, June 12, 2000, in a Booneville nursing home. He was a farmer and a mechanic.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evans cemetery in Magazine with service and cremation under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by four daughters, Betty Dean Ethridge of Camden, Julie Martinez and Brenda Ashley, both of Green River, Wyo., and Diane Allen of Hampton; two sons, Freddie of Banks and Larry of Hampton; two sisters, Beatrice Shot of Waveland and Anna Mae Shot of California; two brothers, Bob and Johnny, both of Magazine; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his companion, Goldie Sewell of Booneville.

Billie Loyd
GRANNIS — Billie Juanita Burke Rogers Loyd, 72, of Grannis died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Texarkana. She was a homemaker, part-time mail carrier and a parts department manager for Lane Poultry.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Grannis with burial at Overturf cemetery in Grannis under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Jodie Higgins of Texarkana, Ark., Terry Alexander and Lavene Briggs, both of Grannis; one son, James Roy Rogers of Grannis; five sisters, Pauline Jones and Nelda Richardson, both of Grannis, JoAnn Milham of Mena, Patsy Hagler of Berryville and June Mitchell of Texarkana, Ark.; six grandchildren, Shauna Johnson, Dave Rogers, Chris Higgins, Rebecca and Waymon Alexander and Gregory Briggs; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Higgins, Waymon Alexander, Cody Burke, Dwight Mangus, Billy Richardson and Steve Bell.

Deloris Wilson
TURNER COMMUNITY — Deloris Ann Wilson, 52, of the Turner Community died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pope cemetery in Crawford County under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by five sisters, Shirley Wilson of Fort Smith, Peggy Pohle of Bryant and Barbara Rogers, Joy Lea Shores and Ruth Beller, all of Mountainburg; one brother, Albert Wilson Jr. of Mulberry.
Pallbearers will be friends.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Van Buren.

Neado Poole
Neado William Poole, 75, of Van Buren died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was the owner of Pooles Auto Ranch, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Van Buren with burial at Evergreen cemetery near Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; three daughters, Pamela Hobbs of Fort Smith and Sherry Poole and Karla James, both of Barling; two sisters, Harriet Holland of Van Buren and Mary Steele-Smith of Mansfield; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Hobbs Jr., Phil Hobbs, Shaun James, Gary Clark, Bob Denton, Billy Joe Yowell and Josh Stanley.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Van Buren.

Lawrence Reese
Lawrence “Uncle Jim” Reese, 91, of Van Buren died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in a Van Buren nursing home. He was the owner/operator of Uncle Jim’s Grocery and retired as an employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a carpenter, musician and member and deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Crown Hill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews including Jack Reese, Clarence, William and Lucy Jane Toran, all of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Muriel Willis, Tom Douglas, Larry and Michael Norwood and James and Billy Hughes.

Megan Smith
Megan Nicole Smith, 6-year-old daughter of Greg and Amber Smith of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 17, 2000, in a Little Rock hospital. She would be attending first grade at Booneville Elementary School. She played for the Stars softball team and was active in gymnastics, ballet and tap dancing at Flame Gymnastics. She was a member of the Sunday school class and children’s choir at Grand Avenue Baptist Church of Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial at Barling cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Billy Ray and Marian Smith of Fort Smith; her maternal grandparents, Rick and Susan Elser of Salida, Colo.; her paternal great-grandmother, Ruby Michael of Fort Smith; her maternal great-grandmothers, Rita Elser of Salida, Colo. and Frances Williams of Blytheville; one sister, Katie Leigh Ann Smith of the home; and one brother, Christopher Alan Smith of the home.
Pallbearers will be Andy, Chad and Billy Ray Smith and Rick Elsner.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Fort Smith.

Luu, Thi
Luu, Ngoc-Hoa Thi, 44, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a kindergarten teacher in Vietnam and a line production worker at O.K. Foods.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith. Cremation will follow the service.
She is survived by her husband, Pham, Hoang Van; one son, Pham, Duy Hieu Hoang; father, Luu, Thuan Ba of Saigon, Vietnam; five sisters, Luu, Ngoc Lang, Luu, Ngoc Dung, Luu, Ngoc Lien, all of Vietnam and Luu, Minh Nguyet Thi and Luu, Mai Ngoc, both of Houston; and one brother, Luu, Tong Ba of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be her family.
