Ilson Mitchell Sr.
EL DORADO — Ilson Jerl “I.J.” Mitchell Sr., 82, of El Dorado died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in an El Dorado nursing home. He retired from Whirlpool as a press operator after 13 years. He was a member of Murmill Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of World War II in Europe and the invasion of Germany, Italy and the Phillippines. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel of El Dorado, with burial at Bethel Methodist cemetery in El Dorado.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Flenniken Mitchell; two daughters, Marcella Perdue of El Dorado and Mary Spencer of Alvin, Texas; one stepdaughter, Wanda May of Rialto, Calif.; one son, Jerl Mitchell Jr. of Pocola; one sister, Dorothy Cox of DeWitt; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Nolen
MOUNTAINBURG — Robert Lee “Bill” Nolen, 75, of Mountainburg died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in a Little Rock hospital. He was an ordained priesthood member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, DAV, VFW and Commander of the American Legion in Mountainburg. He was an Army veteran of World War II and Purple Heart recipient. He was a 32-degree Mason and past worshipful master of Mountainburg Masonic Lodge No. 332 and past worthy patron of the Mountainburg Clear Creek order of the Eastern Star Lodge.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in Ocker Funeral Home Chapel of Alma, with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Connie Nowell of Little Rock, Pam Leonard of Mountainburg and Debby Huffor of Winslow; two sons, Chris Nolen of Fayetteville and Tony Romero of Mountainburg; one brother, Norman Nolen of Mountainburg; and 17 grandchildren, Shelly, Clevelan, Kymberlon, Emily, Bart, Brecken, Kristin, Ashlon, Taylor, Robert, Adam, Marcus, Tiffany, Clinton, Clifton, Brennan and Jackson.

Bensie Sutton
CEDAR HILL, Texas — Bensie Sutton, 87, of Cedar Hill, formerly of Alma, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Oxnard, Calif. She was a homemaker, member of First Baptist Church of Alma, Order of the Eastern Star, New Alma Chapter 616 and past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of Remey Chapter 260 in Mulberry. She was the widow of William Thomas Sutton III.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Alma, with burial at Alma cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd of Oxnard, Calif., Don of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Forrest of Cedar Hill; two sisters, Blanche Issacks of Alma and Beatrice Scoville of Spokane, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Landra Delph
MANSFIELD — Landra Delph, 53, of Mansfield died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Greenwood First Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood First Assembly of God, with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; one daughter, Brenda Robinson of Mansfield; two sons, Billy Joe Delph Jr. of Mansfield and Timothy Lee Delph of Booneville; one sister, Lovella Milam of Greenwood; one brother, Jim Miller of Greenwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Troy, Clarence and Donald Lowry, Jim Howard, John Markward and Jimmy Miller.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Greenwood.
Edith Slay
BOONEVILLE — Edith Ellen Slay, 90, of Booneville died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a retired school teacher and a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Booneville, with burial at Blue Mountain cemetery of Blue Mountain under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by one brother, Frank Slay of Roland; two nieces, Connie Gibson of Muskogee, Okla., and Mary Lieter of California; and one nephew, Gary Pitts of Lavaca.
Pallbearers will be Toby Short, Don Dunn, Eric Catlett, Bobby Rogers, Don Murray and Jim West.

Lennie Crutcher
RICHMOND, Calif. — Lennie N. Crutcher, 92, of Richmond, formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in San Pablo, Calif. She was a retired seamstress for Wood Pants Company and a member of Midland Heights United Methodist Church of Fort Smith. She is the widow of William Bascom Crutcher.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Gracelawn cemetery of Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
Carl F. Wilbanks Jr.
Carl F. Wilbanks Jr., 81, of Mulberry died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mulberry, U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge No. 487 in Mulberry, a member of Western Arkansas Consistory. Mr. Wilbanks was also an elder at Oak Bower Christian Church in Mulberry. Preceded in death by his wife, Pat James Wilbanks; parents, Carl F. and Lula Keck Wilbanks Sr.; son, Kenny Wilbanks; and son-in-law, Ron Rogers. He was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Mulberry.
Graveside service and Masonic rites will be 10 a.m. today at New cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Reeves of Mulberry and Linda Rogers of Fort Smith; a son, Danny Wilbanks and wife Sheryl of Mulberry; a brother, Tilford and wife Billie Wilbanks of Van Buren; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

TULSA — Gary Trone Parker, 48, of Tulsa, formerly of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Tulsa. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a salesman at Parker Solvents. He was a Southside High School graduate.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church, with burial at Woodlawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Carroll and Marian Parker of Fort Smith; and one brother, Robert C. Parker Jr. of Fort Smith.

Joseph M. Peebles Jr., 56, of Van Buren died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Buren. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph M. Peebles Sr.

Sarah Sue Mahar, 61, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born July 19, 1943, in Fort Smith. She was a certified dietary manager at Brownwood Life Care Center.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James G. Mahar; a daughter, Christie and husband Shawn Darter of Fort Smith; two sons, James E. and wife Pamela of Van Buren and Ronnie Mahar of Fort Smith; five sisters, Evelyn Sangster and Jane Young, both of Van Buren, Dean Murchison of Mountainburg, Jackie Hollis of Lake Charles, La., and Linda Brixey of Greenwood; and four grandchildren, Michael and Miranda Mahar, Sarah and Brianne Darter.

Jack D. London
Jack D. London passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, in Denton, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jack was born to Charles and Bonnie London of Fort Smith on Sept. 15, 1958. He graduated from Northside High School in 1976. After graduation, he continued his employment with Colonial/Rainbow Bread Co. as a maintenance engineer for 10 years. He then became employed with Shipley Baking Co.,which has since become Flowers Ind.
In April of 2004, he was honored to be transferred to Denton, Texas, with Flowers Industries, where he, as a chief engineer, began the process, with the help of many co-workers, to start the set-up of a new plant. He was very excited to be there and to be with so many people from different places, all working together for a common vision.
Jack was a man who was extremely dedicated, not only to his career, but also his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy of 24 years; two daughters, Stephanie London of Fort Smith and Stacy London of Corinth, Texas; his father and mother, Charles and Bonnie London, all of Fort Smith; two sisters, Julie Johnson of Fort Smith and Janice McGrew of Rudy; and a granddaughter, Kyleigh Reeves of Corinth, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Sandra Kay Howard
Sandra Kay Howard, 60, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at her home. She was retired from Elmore’s Record Shop, where she worked for over 20 years, and she was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial of cremains at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery following the memorial service under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Everett; a daughter, Kathy Spahn and husband, Tim of Fort Smith; a son, Rett Howard and wife, Lana of Fort Smith; three granddaughters, Kristen Campbell, Megan Howard and Brooklyn Howard, all of Fort Smith; and one great-grandson, Dylan Roper of Fort Smith.

Thelma Wingfield
Thelma Wingfield, 81, of Charleston died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in a local nursing home. She passed away peacefully at Greenhurst Nursing Home in Charleston. She was 81 years old, six days short of her 82nd birthday on Valentine’s Day. She was a founding member of Northside Baptist Church in Charleston and later became president and CEO of Quality Auto Parts Co. for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph R. Wingfield.
J. Elton Pennington and Vondal Davenport will officiate the service. The family wishes to express their thanks to the following people, Dr. Richard Hinkle and staff, Greenhurst Nursing Home and staff, for helping make our mother comfortable in her passing.
Memorial service will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Charleston with burial of cremains at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Wingfield of Fort Smith and Richard Wingfield of San Diego; two sisters, Sylvia Merdith of Charleston and Hazel Dockery of Oklahoma City; and one grandchild, Rachel Wingfield of Fort Smith.

CLARKSVILLE — Hester Fay Carpenter, 81, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Clarksville. She was born April 8, 1923, in El Dorado.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville. The body was cremated.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra King of Scranton; two sons, Harley and Allen Carpenter, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; and four grandchildren.
