Etta Monisteri
GREENWOOD — Etta M. Hensley Monisteri, 92, of Greenwood, formerly of Mena, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Aug. 7, 1912, in Bays, Ky. She was a furniture store owner, was a Seventh-day Adventist and the widow of Joseph Monisteri.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Beasely-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Corinth cemetery in Mena.
She is survived by three sisters, Josephine Bradford and Pauline Goodner, both of Greenwood, and Loraine Mueller of Fairfield, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Bradford, Larry Goodner, Jeff Freshnell, Michael Walton and Billy Rogers.

Ruby Adams
OZARK — Ruby Adams, 89, of Ozark died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Ozark. She was born March 21, 1915, in Ozark. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Pentecostal Church in Ozark.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Mount View cemetery in Ozark.
She is survived by a son, Curtis Adams of Anderson, Ind.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Shelton, Jerry Banning, John Watkins, Greg and Dustin Gortemiller.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Floyd Baker
OZARK — Floyd William Baker, 76, of Ozark died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Ozark. He was born Oct. 29, 1928, in Altus. He was a retired airline mechanic for American Airlines, a Protestant and an Army veteran.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Nichols Chapel cemetery in Altus under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by a son, Larry Baker of Jennings, Okla.; two sisters, Dorothy Casey of Ozark and Marjorie Harris of Thrall, Texas; a brother, Johnny Baker of Altus; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ozark Nursing Home staff.

Virginia McMaster
Virginia Marie McMaster, 91, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in a local nursing home. She was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, a former co-owner of the Dripping Springs Grocery Store and the widow of Louis McMaster.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a son, J.T. McMaster of Van Buren; three sisters, Lena McMaster and Mildred Wilson, both of Quincy, Calif., and Syble Clester of Redding, Calif.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Murphy, Loyd Cochrum, Tim Justice, Robert Barker, Robert and Wayne Hodges, James and T.J. McMaster.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Martha Winfield
BENTON — Martha Faris Winfield, 92, of Benton died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Cove. She was born July 5, 1912, in Baker Springs. She was a member of Church of God in Benton, where she taught Sunday school and served as volunteer for the nursery on Mother’s Day Out, and the widow of John Winfield.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Vandervoort Baptist Church with graveside services at 4 p.m. at Rosemont cemetery in Benton. Arrangements are under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral of Mena.
She is survived by three sons, Merle Winfield of Cove, Bob Winfield of Middleburg, Fla., and Dennis Winfield of Benton; a brother, Raymond Kemp of Rosenberg, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger and Rusty Winfield, Wayne and Jared Smith, Mike Hammond and James Jacobs.

Alexandra Efurd
Alexandra Rain Efurd, infant daughter of Natasha Cherry and Kenneth Efurd of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in a local hospital.
Funeral will be noon Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a twin sister, Victoria Efurd of the home; maternal grandparents, Janice Whitaker of Van Buren and Martin Cherry of Houston; paternal grandparents, Larry and Vickie McFadden of Van Buren; maternal great-grandparents, Sharon and Billy Rice of Alma, Margaret and Henry Cherry of Houston; paternal great-grandparents, Elwanda and Terry Loggins of Natural Dam, and Loyd Efurd of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Whitaker and Chance Lewis.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gene Lowery
BOONEVILLE — Gene Parker Lowery, 72, of Booneville died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Little Rock. He was a retired district warehouse supervisor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in San Leandro, Calif., a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Hayward, Calif., a member of American Bowlers Association and a Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Robert Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Louise.
Pallbearers will be Charles, Arliss, James and Roger Osborne, Dean Wall, Kenny Scott, Jesse Wilson and Larry Breeden.
Honorary pallbearers will be men from the Senior Bowling League.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Novella Manasco
COVE — Novella “Nennie” Manasco, 65, of Cove died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Mena. She was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Cove. She worked for Tyson and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cove.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene with burial at Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by three sisters, Lavada Tubbs and Ina Ralls, both of Borger, Texas, and Rosella Brown of Booneville; three brothers, Maurice Manasco of Cove, Brice Manasco of Stinnett, Texas, and Tom Manasco of Annadale, Va.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Appleton
JONESBORO — William Stradley Appleton, 76, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in his home. He was born in Chicago and owned and operated farming operations in Craighead County and cotton gins and grain elevators. He served on the Craighead County Quorum Court and was past chairman of the Board of Directors at Craighead Memorial Hospital. He was past president of the Jonesboro Rotary Club, the Jonesboro YMCA and the Jonesboro Country Club. He coached Jonesboro Summer Baseball Leagues and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, piloting B-17s in Europe and the Battle of the Bulge.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today in First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro will burial and full military honors at Jonesboro Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Marstel; three sons, William Appleton of Little Rock, Robert Appleton of Jonesboro and Richard “Dick” Appleton of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

Betty Cates
Betty Francis Cates, 56, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was an aid at Booneville Human Development Center in Booneville.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Lakeview Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Cates of Magazine; two sons, Donald W. Crenshaw of Booneville and Jeffrey D. Crenshaw of Fort Smith; seven sisters, Dean Sellers of Wichita Falls, Texas, Connie Grimes of Sanger, Texas, Lois Arrington and Nettie Cain, both of Denton, Texas, Melba Cates of Pilot Point, Texas, Rita Cates of Atkins and Shirley Shigley of Booneville; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Raine Shigley, Kris Walker, Kenneth Scott, John Lewis, Colin Slate and Tim Ault.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

David Jones
MAGAZINE — David Alan Jones, 31, of Magazine recently died.
The body was cremated under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his mother, Claudia Jones of Magazine; a sister, Mellena Helton of Magazine; two brothers, Will and James Jones, both of Magazine.

Lois Self
WEST FORK — Lois Self, 74, of West Fork died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in a Fayetteville nursing home. She was a homemaker and a retired parts inspector. She was the widow of William Francis Self.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Duncan cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Harderson of West Fork; a son, Mike Self of West Fork; three sisters, Mildred Patrick of West Fork, Johnnie Melson of Wesley and Lorne Staton of Russellville; four brothers, Cecil Ellison of Pasadena, Texas, Clois Ellison of Greenland, George Ellison of Springdale and Noah Ellison of Marshall, Texas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Isacc Harderson, Clayton Shannon, Jerry Boatright, Chris Pennington and Brandon Morlock.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Michael Barber
BEEBE — Michael “Mike” Lee Barber, 61, of Beebe died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in a Little Rock hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1939, in Batesville. He was a Navy veteran, received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Arkansas State University. He worked at several Arkansas newspapers including the Southwest Times Record as sports editor and the DeWitt Era Enterprise as news editor. He served as director of public information at Arkansas State University — Beebe since 1985.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in Beebe with burial at Oaklawn cemetery in Batesville under the direction of W.L. Westbrook Funeral Home of Beebe.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; a son, Chris of Beebe; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Washburn, Jeff, Kelly and Steve Lassiter, Sean and Larry Barber Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas State Golf Association, Junior Program, No. 3 Eagle Hill Court Suite B, Little Rock, AR 72209 or Beebe First Baptist Church Building Fund, or the ASU-Beebe Alumni Association.

Elsie Hurt
MENA — Elsie L. Hurt, 97, of Mena died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Mena. She was born Dec. 6, 1903, in Martin, Tenn. She assisted setting up Renova Shirt Factory in Mena and managed the Mount View Shirt factory and assisted setting up five other shirt factories and worked for shirt factories for 52 years. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and the widow of Roy Hurt.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Beasley-Wood Funeral Chapel in Mena with burial at Martin Eastside cemetery in Martin, Tenn.
She is survived by a niece, Betty Carr; best friend, Bertie Crouch of Mena.

Jean Painter
Jean Painter, 80, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a salesperson for Frougs Department Store. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Kelley of Fort Worth, Texas; a son, Harris Painter of Fort Smith; a brother, John Harris of Fort Smith; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Art Martin, Cossie Hendricks, Gene Boone, Dr. Tom Raymond, Ben Jordon and Jerry Laffoon.
