David Allen Bibbs
Master Sgt. David Allen Bibbs, 49, of Moore, Okla., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in his home. He was born at Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, Calif., to James and DeAnna Bibbs. He was a retired master sergeant of the Air Force serving 22 years. He was a former employee of ARINC in Oklahoma City, a former golf pro, a fisherman and a true sportsman. David was known for his dedication and service to his nation and his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at Tinker Air Force Base Chapel. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial and full military honors at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, James D. Bibbs. He is survived by his wife, Senior Master Sgt. Amy Patterson-Bibbs; three daughters, Amanda McCullough of Choctaw, Okla., Sarah Bibbs of Oklahoma City, and Erika of the home; his mother, DeAnna Bibbs of Fort Smith; two stepsons, Michael and Jonathon of the home; and three brothers, Richard D. Bibbs of Bakersfield, Calif., Kevin and Keith Bibbs, both of Van Buren; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Kirk, Landy Stankewitz, Eric Nauni, Jason McCullough, Danny and Aaron Heller.

John William Post
John William Post, 83, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a retired auto mechanic from American Motors Co. in Glendale, Calif. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Margaret Post; and a brother, Lenn Post Jr.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two sons, John R. Post and his fiancee, Susan Weindel, of Fort Smith, and Richard A. Post of Fort Smith; four sisters, Martha Metz of Lavaca, Gloria Roberts and Rowena Robison of Fort Smith, and Carol Lowery of Houston; three brothers, Frank Post of Fort Smith, George Post of Hackett, and Bobby Post of Rock Island. He is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Vernon Knight, Bud Knight, Zack Robison, Robert Post, Don Mark Post and Frankie Post.
Arthur Miller
Arthur Miller, 85, of Cecil died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in his home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of DeSoto Furniture Factory and a lifelong resident of Crawford County. He was also affiliated with the Assembly of God faith, and was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Nellie Rose Miller, and a brother, Albert Miller.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Dougan cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Miller of the home; two daughters, Cora Nichols of Cecil and Joyce Hyde of Lowell; a son, Carl Miller of Cedarville; two brothers, Henry Miller of Alma and Paul Miller of Van Buren; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Barry Miller, Bryan, Jessy and Michael Nichols, Garry and Jacky Franklin.
Judas H. Sharber
Judas H. Sharber, 81, of Booneville died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from Champion Auto Parts, a veteran of the Army and the Korean War, and a member of Glendale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Sharber, and infant son, William Ernest Sharber.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Glendale Baptist Church with burial at Glendale cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Purcell and husband Patrick of Krebs, Okla., and Mary Sattazahn and husband Ralph of Alma; two sisters, Bonnie McClane of Fort Smith and Vineda Robins of Chico, Calif.; two brothers, the Rev. Sam Sharber of Fort Smith and Jim Sharber of Krebs; five grandchildren, Christopher Lenardo, Brad Lenardo, Blake Sattazahn, Keely Sattazahn and Kirk Sattazahn; and four great-grandchildren, Jourdyn Bell, Ethyn Lenardo, Christen Lenardo, and Lauren Watkins.
Stateroom hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Glendale Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lenardo, Bill McClane, Brad Lenardo, Chris Rink, John David Sharber, and Major Russ DeWald. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Fennell, Don Smith, Harry Culps, Webster Watts, Homer Wilson, Burleigh Grimes and Jack Riley.
Rev. William H. Barbry Jr.
The Rev. William H. Barbry Jr., 81, of Garland died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Lexington, N.C. He served in the Army in World War II and was a minister. He was the founding pastor of Druid Hills Baptist Church (now known as Heritage Baptist Church) in Fort Smith, and also served an evangelist. He was a member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Heritage Baptist Church in Fort Smith with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
William is survived by his wife, Lena Jo Barbry; two daughters, Deborah Robbins and husband Larry of Broomfield, Colo., and Martha McClanahan and husband Ronny of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Bill Barbry III and wife Linda of Fort Smith; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randal and Chad Barbry, Patrick and Ron McClanahan, Joseph and Bryan Helm.

Jimmy Caraccia
Jimmy Caraccia, 38, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005. He was the owner of C & M Race Craft. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter Caraccia.
Rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his son, Seth Caraccia of Fort Smith; his parents, Francis and Dolores Caraccia of Fort Smith; one sister, Sharon and her husband Kevin Treece of Fort Smith; one brother, John Caraccia of Fort Smith; one stepdaughter, Erica Scoggins; nieces and nephews, Kyle and Keeley Treece.

Wesley Vernon Barbrick
Wesley Vernon Barbrick, 75, of Yuma, Ariz., formerly of Van Buren, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Yuma. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the German Lutheran Church.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Barbrick of the home; a daughter, LaHonda Fugate of San Diego and Karen of Weatherford, Texas; two sons, John Parks of Van Buren and David Barbrick of Weatherford, Texas; two sisters, Lenora Cammenga and Elaine Laugh, both of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Glen Barbrick of Muskegon, Mich., and Joe Barbrick of Memphis; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Salvador Marchese
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Salvador A. “Sam” Marchese, 85, of North Little Rock died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. He was born March 17, 1919, in Hammond, La. He worked for Lima Music and Vending and retired from Garrett Music and Vending at age 62; he owned and operated the Southern Grill in North Little Rock and the Snack Shack in Little Rock. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, Council No. 6253, and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
A rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. today at North Little Rock Funeral Home in North Little Rock.
Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with entombment at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Margaret Srygley of Little Rock; two sons, Joseph Marchese of Little Rock and Christopher Marchese of Fort Smith; two brothers, Johnny Marchese of Kenner, La., and Anthony Marchese of Metarie, La.; and seven grandchildren.

Earle Bradley
COVE — Earle Bradley, 75, of Cove died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Dec. 1, 1929, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a salesman and of the Methodist faith; he was an Army veteran serving in Korea, and had 50 years of service with the Boy Scouts of America.
The body was cremated under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a sister, Jean Hawkins of Hatfield; and two brothers, James Bradley of Beloit, Wis., and William Raven of Cove.
Alvin Todd
MENA — Alvin H. Todd, 83, of Mena died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Mena. He was born Sept. 26, 1921. He was a carpenter, a military veteran and of the Baptist faith; he was the widower of Goldie Todd.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Boardcamp cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathy Whaley of Houston, Carol Gilmore of Tulsa, and Elaine Dean of Bernice, La.; four sons, David, Phillip and Darrell Todd, all of Tulsa, and Dewayne Todd of Bernice, La.; and two sisters, Jackie Clement of Mena and Geneva Wiles of Nunley.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Steve Biggs
Steve Biggs, 54, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in Brinkley. He was a truck driver for Warner Enterprises and a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Haven Heights Baptist Church with burial at McKendree cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by a sister, Jane Parks of Connecticut; and four brothers, Alva, Larry and Jerry Biggs, all of Fort Smith, and Donald Biggs of Barling.
Pallbearers will be nephews, David, Thomas, Alva, Stanley, Travis, Wade and Jeff Biggs and Brent Parks.

Wanda Phillips
MENA — Wanda Phillips, 75, of Mena died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Mena. She was born in Highland. She was a nurses aide and of the Methodist faith, was a Sunday school teacher at Shady Grove Church and the Mount View Church and was active in the choir and Methodist youth groups. She was the widow of Floyd Phillips.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Foster’s Chapel cemetery in Rocky.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis White of Mena; a son, John Phillips of Mena; stepmother, Allie Simpson of Mena; two sisters, Harriet Ehret of Harrison and Geneva Kitchens of Bentonville; a brother, Lonnie Simpson of Mena; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James and Aaron White, Darrel and Danny Haddox, Stanley Watson and Chad Simpson.

Virginia Harp Simpson Brassfield
Virginia Harp Simpson Brassfield, 89, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Dayton to Martin B. and Othella Rebecca Clopton Harp.
She grew up on the family farm and attended Mansfield school. On Sept. 29, 1922, she married
Lester Willard Simpson, son of Carrell Warren and Martha Della Frizzell Simpson, at Abbott. Virginia and Lester lived at Mansfield until 1942, when they moved to California where Lester and Virginia were employed at Lockheed Aircraft. In 1944, they moved to Sweetwater, Texas, living there for several years, then moved back to Arkansas in 1949, where they farmed, raising strawberries and peaches with Virginia’s father and mother. After the death of Virginia’s father in 1954, Virginia was employed in the Abbott schools, then later in Mansfield schools. Virginia had fond memories of many children in the schools where she worked.
Virginia and Lester had two children, Martin Carroll Simpson, and Jerry Wayne Simpson. Virginia’s husband, Lester passed away Oct. 27, 1974, leaving Virginia alone. She continued working at Mansfield schools until her retirement in 1974. In 1976, Virginia married
John Brassfield, who was a retired miner. John passed away in 1980, again leaving Virginia alone. She valued her friends at the Mansfield Senior Center, where she went every day to exercise, eat lunch and visit.
She is survived by her sons, Martin and wife, Eva of Atlanta, Jerry and wife, Karolyn of Corvallis, Mont.; grandchildren, Martin (Marty) Simpson Jr. and wife, Jackie of Mobile, Ala., Vickie Anderson of Atlanta, Christopher Simpson and wife, Tracey of Billings, Mont., Jeffery Simpson and wife, Rachel of Billings, Mont.; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ina Jean Hudson of Houston; and one brother, Melton B. Harp of Sweetwater, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her late husbands, Lester Simpson and John Brassfield; brothers, Autrey and Irus L. Harp; and one sister, Mona Pettus.
Funeral was held Thursday at Coop Prairie Cumberland Presbyterian Church with interment at Coop Prairie cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield. She will be laid to rest by her husband and parents.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Simpson, Marty Simpson, Jimmy Donald, Donald Williams, Danny Hurt and Glen Hurt.
