Steve Biggs
Steve Biggs, 54, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in Brinkley. He was a truck driver for Warner Enterprises and a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Irma Biggs.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Haven Heights Baptist Church. Interment be at McKendree cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by a sister, Jane Parks of Connecticut; brothers, Alva Biggs of Fort Smith, Donald Ray Biggs of Barling, Larry Biggs of Fort Smith and Jerry Biggs of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews, David Biggs, Thomas Biggs, Alva Biggs, Stanley Biggs, Travis Biggs, Wade Biggs, Jeff Biggs and Brent Parks.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maggie Summerhill
Maggie Summerhill, 84, of Russellville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in a Little Rock hospital. She was formerly of Van Buren and a lifelong member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She served her country during World War II as a welder in the naval shipyards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Summerhill of 46 years; a daughter, Hazel Hammontree; and a granddaughter, Danita Crow.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Summerhill of the home and Laura Gail Summerhill Crouch of Russellville; a son, David Summerhill of Alma; a sister, Treva Pounds of Lemon Grove, Calif.; five grandchildren, Kim Wright, David Summerhill Jr., Grant Coleman Hall, Abigail Elizabeth Crouch and Sarah Kathryn Crouch; and three great-grandchildren, Brittney Wright, Alyssa Crow and Lance Crow.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Nolan, Jerry Fears, Donny Nolan, David Wright, Wilburn Fears and Billy Dale Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hammontree, Glyn Nolan and Doug Crow.

William A. “Jake” Davis Jr.
William A. “Jake” Davis Jr., 79, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. He was born in Fort Smith to the late William A. Davis Sr. and Fern Conley Davis.
Jack was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, serving as a flight instructor of B-24s and B-25s. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a Razorback letterman and a member of the 1947 Cotton Bowl Team. He met and married Tommye Arbogast while both were students at the university.
Jake had a long career in retail truck and trailer sales. His dry wit and love of people made him a perfect salesman. During his career, he worked at Freuhauf Trailer, International Harvester, Mack Truck and retired as manager of Peterbuilt Arkansas.
An avid race car fan all of his life, after retirement he enjoyed working as a crewman and transport driver on his son’s NASCAR race team. One of his most prized possessions was his 2002 Daytona Championship ring. A member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, Jake and Tommye enjoyed the Friday night service — so they could watch the NASCAR race on Sundays.
More recently, Jake enjoyed visiting and working on Bill and Gail’s Chimney Rock Cattle Ranch near Batesville.
Jake was a loving and proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great delight and interest in his children, and grandchildren’s lives. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Tommye Arbogast Davis; daughter, Diane Lord and husband Fletcher Lord Jr. of Little Rock; son, William A. “Bill” Davis III and wife Gail of Batesville and High Point, N.C.; grandchildren, Conley Golden and husband Alex of Little Rock, Fletcher Lord III and wife Jessica of Jamestown, N.C., and Katherine Lord of Little Rock; and one great-granddaughter, Evan Elizabeth Golden.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Ruebuel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2005 at the Chapel of Ruebuel Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Vic Nixon. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church; or to the charity of donor’s choice.

Opal Marie Lowe
Opal Marie Lowe, 92, of Greenwood died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, in Greenwood. She was retired from Ace Comb Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bryan Lowe; and one son, Jim Lowe.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the Washburn Methodist Church with burial at Washburn cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Gerri Lowe of Washburn; two grandsons, Bryan Lowe of Fort Smith and Brandon Lowe of Washburn.
Viewing will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Larry Glover, Danny Scharbor, Floyd Webb, Ray Webb, Roger Woods and Dennis McCartney.

Suzanne Taylor Hill
Suzanne Taylor Hill, 73, of Alma died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alma, where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was a former employee of Coleman Pharmacy and the Alma Public Library. She was a volunteer at Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Riverside, Calif. Preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim Ed” Hill; and her father, Ted Taylor.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Alma United Methodist Church with burial at Pope cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorinda Stewart of Van Buren and Jennifer Mullins of Alma; four sons, Jim Taylor Hill of Pauls Valley, Okla., Chris Hill of Van Buren, Dana Hill of Alma and Shawn Hill of Alma; her mother, Ruth Taylor of Fort Smith; a brother, Ted Taylor of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren; and two nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hill, Chris Hill, Tom Wofford, Dana Hill, Shawn Hill, Joe Stewart and Miles Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be the 3/4 India Company Marines in Fallujah, Iraq.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, 917 U.S. 64 east in Alma.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 2910 Jenny Lind, No. 6 Boston Square, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Floyd Richardson
CLINTON — Floyd Henderson Richardson, 93, of Clinton, formerly of Wickes, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Clinton. He was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Manchester, Tenn. He attended Clinton Church of the Nazarene, was a member of United Methodist Church in Wickes and the Masonic Lodge in Wickes.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Old Methodist Church in Wickes with burial at Baker cemetery in Wickes under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a son, Albert Richardson; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lucian Doyel
BATES — Lucian Doyel, 77, of Bates died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in his home. He was retired from the U.S. Forest Service.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Gibson cemetery in Bates under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Clara Duncan of Bates; a son, Jerry Doyel of the home; a sister, Elva VanDeWiele of Waldron; a brother, Paul Doyel of Depew, Okla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Hill, Richie Sanders, Harvey Parker, Terry Nix, Ted Johnston, Freddie Woodral, Jeff Duncan and Lanson Smith.

Donald Mallon
NEW BLAINE — Donald E. Mallon, 68, of New Blaine died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in New Blaine. He was a self-employed sign painter, affiliated with Russellville Christian Center and a Navy veteran.
The body was cremated under the direction of Paris Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; three daughters, Donna Wilson of Kelso, Wash., Gitelle Anzalone and Gabriel Upton, both of Chicago; four brothers, Tom and Rob Mallon, both of California, Richard Mallon of Fort Smith and Mike Mallon of Hawaii; and nine grandchildren.

Laura Caraccia
Laura Bolin Caraccia, 30, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was an accountant for Beall Barclay, a board member of the Community Rescue Mission, and a graduate of Lavaca High School and Arkansas State University.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Ericka Scoggins of the home; a son, Peter Caraccia of the home; her mother, Billie Bolin of Lavaca; a brother, Eric Bolin of Lavaca; and maternal grandparents, Irma and Connie McAlvery of Eufaula, Okla.
Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for her children at BancorpSouth Bank, 7000 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Bessie Davison
MIDWAY — Bessie E. Davison, 73, of Midway died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. She was a homemaker, a member of Midway Assembly of God and the widow of Ralvin Davison.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove cemetery in Midway under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by a sister, Cindy Wilbourn of Guntersville, Ala.; a brother, William Wilbourn of Midway; and several stepsisters and stepbrothers.
Pallbearers will be Chris Wilbourn, Nathan Brewer, Ricky Cauthren, Carroll Hamilton, Harold Davison and Billy Rhinehart.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alta Ogden
MENA — Alta Ogden, 90, of Mena died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. She was born Feb. 7, 1915, in Greenville, Texas. She was a member of the nursing profession and the widow of Ira Ogden.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest cemetery in Mena.
She is survived by a son, Riley of Little Rock; two sisters, Faye Davis and Marie Barton of Polk County; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lorene McClain
DENNING — Lorene Stover McClain, 82, of Denning died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, in Ozark. She was a retired Tyson employee and the widow of Rudolph McClain.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Friendship cemetery in Springdale.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Wolford of Greenwood; four sisters, Martha Tillery of Hartman, Francis Tollison of Clarksville, Juanita Walker and Nancy Smith, both of Ozark; two brothers, Sammuel and Gary Stover, both of Denning; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dale and Tracy Brown, Gregory and Eva Wood, Justin Skaggs and Allen McIlroy.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JoAnn Lairamore
JoAnn Lairamore of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005. She worked at the Wal-Mart distribution center, supported the American Heart Association and was the widow of Dale Lairamore.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Barling with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Bowles of Alma; a son, Dale Lairamore III of Fort Smith; three sisters, Reatha West of Pocola, Thelma Bates of Mulberry and Margaret Inman of Havana; a brother, Stanley Jones of Norman, Okla.; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tracey Powell, Grant Nicely, Randy Bartmier, Dr. Peter Fleck, Casey Bates, Man West and Jeff West.

Irene Wiley
Irene Wiley, 84, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at a local hospital. She was a retired Air Force major, serving as a flight nurse in World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars, and attended the Christ for the World Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery.
She is survived by a brother, James Wiley of Monon, Ind.
