Karen Suzette "Susie" Yeakey

TRUMANN -- Karen Suzette "Susie" Yeakey, 44, of Trumann died Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the family residence.

Born at Trumann, she lived there all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Viva Drive Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Frankie E. Yeakey of the home; two daughters, Cassie Leann Cubit of Trumann and Sonya Nicole Cubit of Jonesboro; her parents, Rhew "Buster" and Martha Bales of Trumann; a brother, Johnny Bales of Memphis; and her grandmother, Hazel McCorkle of Tyronza.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Joe Spangler officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lyle, Bill Rothenberger, James Moore, Mike Wiley, Robert Horton and Raymond Asher.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jan Ballard Bohna

PITTSBURGH -- Jan Ballard Bohna, 70, of Pittsburgh died Thursday, Oct. 27, at her mother's home in Jonesboro.

Born at Jonesboro, she graduated from Kennett High School in Kennett, Mo., before enrolling in Murray State University in Kentucky where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a minor in music. A former Miss Jonesboro, she enjoyed successful careers in both television and the world of high fashion.

She was "Miss Jan" to viewers of "Romper Room", an internationally syndicated show for pre-school children in the 1970s. In addition, she was a runway and print model for several major designers such as Adolfo, Oscar De La Renta, Geoffery Beene and Oleg Cassini. An accomplished public speaker and lecturer, she toured extensively offering career-guidance lectures at high schools and teaching make-up and fashion techniques. She also lectured on fashion for several major department stores as well as serving as fashion director for Saks Fifth Avenue. She and husband John Bohna owned University Travel Service Inc. of Pittsburgh.

She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral of Pittsburgh, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Jonesboro, the Board of Trustees of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Women's Press Club, Press Club of Western Pennsylvania, P.A.A. (Pittsburgh Athletic Association) Pittsburgh Opera Auxiliary, Pittsburgh Symphony, The Civic Light Opera Association, the Pittsburgh Fashion Group (reserved for fashion executives), Sigma Alpha Iota and Sigma Sigma Sigma national social sorority.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Bohna of the home; two daughters, Gretchen Bohna Weissner of Hollywood, Fla., and Jill Bohna Cain of Reno, Nev.; one son, Craig Bohna of Pittsburgh; her mother, Hazel Wilkins of Jonesboro; one sister, Suzi Bridger of Jonesboro; one brother Steve R. Ballard of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Sydney Cain and Lucas Cain, both of Reno.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother Bob and Faye Ballard of Jonesboro and her stepfather, Russ Wilkins of Kennett.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Emerson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro. A mass will be held in Jan's honor at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Active pallbearers will be Jack Jones, Jack Harrington, Warren Matthews, Greg Theilmeyer, Scott Gairhan and Bob Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jim Bridger Jr., Peter Weissner, Curtis Cain, Lucas Cain, Wayne Mollon, Beau E. Jones, Candy Ballard, Skip Rodgers, Bob Vogel, Ed Blank, Eugene Bohna and Patty Minga.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William E. Gibbs

HORSE BRANCH, Ky. -- William E. Gibbs, 77, of Horse Branch, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Ky.

A sign painter, he was a Baptist, veteran of the Korean War and formerly lived in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Garett Gibbs of the home; a son, Gary Gibbs of Jonesboro; three daughters, Gail Holt of Lebanon, Tenn., Gaye McCarter of Seviervile, Tenn., and Sharon Stallings of Roulett, Tex.; two brothers, Donald Gibbs of Evansville, Ind., and Freddy Gibbs of Columbia, Ind.; one sister, Carolyn (no last name provided) of Martin, Tenn.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.

William L. Danks Funeral Home of Beaver Dam, Ky. is in charge

Dorothy J. Horn

JONESBORO -- Dorothy J. Horn, 83, of Jonesboro died Monday, Oct. 24, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.

Born in San Augustine County, Texas, she lived in Lufkin, Texas, and then in Jonesboro or 43 years. She was employed as a nurse for many years and retired from Woodland Heights Medical Center as an LVN after 23 years. She was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Masters of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Felicia Kelley, Karen Greer, Scott Horn, Gilbert Alan Masters and Sharon James; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Webster Horn; a son, William Edward Horn; and her parents, Willie and Maudie Long Lee.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Alan Masters and John Martin officiating. Burial followed in Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.

Active pallbearers were Scott Horn, Brant Kelley, Matt Kelley, Chase Kelley, Will Kelley and Kyle Greer.

Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of local arrangements.

Nettie Sue Morton Jayroe

MOUNTAIN HOME -- Nettie Sue Morton Jayroe, 94, of Mountain Home, died Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Formerly of Blytheville, she was born at Memphis, was a pianist and taught music and organ for many years in her private studio in Memphis. In her earlier years she was an accompanist with the Memphis symphony Orchestra and organist for the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and had a program on WREC radio in Memphis.

During World War II, she volunteered as a pianist at the VA Hospital in Memphis. She served as an organist at the First United Methodist Church in El Dorado and after moving to Blytheville in 1952 as an organist for the First United Methodist Church in Blytheville. She accompanied the Blytheville High School choir and a boy's quartet.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert Rhea Jayroe Jr., of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Shirley Ann Jayroe Argo of Mountain Home; three grandchildren, Janet Bailey Jayroe Bethany of Merritt Island, Fla., Robert Rhea Jayroe III of Montgomery, Ala., and Hayden C. Argo Jr., of Cordova, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rhea Jayroe Sr., her parents, Joseph Garland and Daisy Belle Fowler Morton; and a sister.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating . Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Peggy Diane McCarroll

WALNUT RIDGE -- Peggy Diane McCarroll, 53, of Walnut Ridge died Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.

Born at Jonesboro, she had lived in Pontitoc, Miss., but spent most of her life in Walnut Ridge. She was a former EMT and worked with the Walnut Ridge Police Department for nine years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Candice Bennett; her father and stepmother, Bill and Pearline Franks; four brothers, Danny Duncan, Ricky Duncan, Jeff Franks and Kenny Franks, all of Walnut Ridge; and four grandchildren, Cassie Bennett, Colton Bennett and Chloe Bennett and Creeden Richey, all of Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. McCarroll; her mother, Pearl White Franks, a sister; and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, with Tom Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Franks, Kenny Franks, Danny Duncan, Jeff Morris, Mike Bennett and Dirk Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jimmy Tribble.

Lucy McCulley Moseley

HARRISBURG -- Lucy McCulley Moseley, 94, of Harrisburg, formerly of Edgewater, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Harrisburg she was a former teacher. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Edgewater and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her nephew and caregiver, Billy and Shelby Hunt of Harrisburg; and her niece, Thelma Lee Adams of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Moseley; her parents, John and Martha McCulley; three sisters; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Visitation at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church of Edgewater, Fla.

Harold Colin North

PARAGOULD -- Harold Colin North, 63, of Paragould died Thursday, Oct. 27, at NEA Medical Center.

Born at St. Louis, he was a member of Liberty Church of Christ. Prior to becoming disabled, he was employed by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department at Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Sherlene Dial North of the home; two sons, Terry North of Paragould and Eric North of Waynesboro, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Doris North.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Health Funeral Home, with Lonnie Pyle and Gene Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Wood, Harlon Wood, Tony McMillon, Stacey McBride, Danny Douglas and Duane Price.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Cemetery Fund, 5480 State Highway 358, Paragould, 72450.
