Frank Owens

BONO -- Frank Owens, 55, of Bono died Friday, Oct. 28, at his residence.

Born at Batesville, he moved to Jonesboro in his early years and had lived in Bono for the last 22 years. He worked in the Grounds Department at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Jonesboro where he was a Sunday school teacher for the adult class for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Holaday Owens of the home; two daughters, LeAnn Edington of Jonesboro and Kimberly Owens of Bono; his mother, Frances Owens of Jonesboro; a brother, Don Owens of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Izac Edington and Josef Edington.

He was preceded in death by his father, B.F. Owens.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pine Log Cemetery, with Chris Campbell officiating and Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Doug Mathis, Larry Darr, Waylan Deen, Darren Harpole, Derick Inzer and Ronald Wise.

Honorary Pallbearers will include the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund.

Curtis Guthrie Perkins

FRANKLIN -- Curtis Guthrie Perkins, 75, of Franklin, formerly of Smithville, died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Franklin.

Born at Smithville he was a 1949 graduate of Sloan-Hendrix High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a 1956 graduate of Arkansas State University. He worked as a Southern regional sales manager for Western Auto until 1968 when he moved back to Arkansas. He was a real estate agent in Horseshoe Bend and a science teacher at Viola High School in the early 1970s. He then went on to a career with the U.S. Postal Service where he served as postmaster at Glencoe and later at Williford, where he retired in 1996.

Survivors include one son, David Perkins of Cherokee Village; four daughters, Karen Croft of Sidney, Cindy Simmons of Chesapeake, Va., Linda Divelbiss of Bakersfield, Mo., and Lynn Kelly of Franklin; two sisters, Wanda Stone of McChesney Park, Ill., and Reva Green of Newport; 11 grandchildren, Dane Perkins and Jayce Perkins, both of Ash Flat, Jordan Croft and Paige Croft, both of Sidney, Autumn Ullrich, Robert Simmons, Christy Simmons and Cliff Simmons, all of Chesapeake, Cody Divelbiss of Bakersfield, and Michael Kelly and Mariah Kelly, both of Franklin; two step-grandchildren, Leslie Boudreaux and Nicole Boudreaux, both of Cherokee Village; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday Qualls Funeral Home chapel in Cave City with Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in the Townsend Cemetery, located at Smithville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Patricia Russell

JONESBORO -- Patricia Russell, 74, of Jonesboro died Friday, Oct. 28, at NEA Medical Center.

She was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include four sons Wallace Russell and Donnie Russell, both of Jonesboro, Kenny Russell of Bay and Austin Russell of Memphis; two daughters, Linda Nelson of Jonesboro and Peggy Sartain of Alicia; a sister, Helen Henson; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.B. Russell; a son, Gary Joe Russell; a daughter, Carol Russell Wessell; her parents, John R. and Bessie Horton Wise; a brother; and a sister.

Services will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

John L. Roe

BATESVILLE -- John L. Roe, 95, of Batesville died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Batesville.

He was born at Black Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Flora Lee Roe; a daughter, Barbara Nelson of Batesville; three grandchildren, Veronica Cook of St. Joseph, Mo., Jonathan Stuart of Batesville and Josh Nelson of Jonesboro; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene in Batesville. Burial will be in Milligan Campground Cemetery at Strawberry with Qualls Batesville Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lucy Mae Starnes

MARKED TREE -- Lucy Mae Starnes, 87, of Marked Tree died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

She was a member of Broadway Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Jim Starnes of Waldorf, Md.; three daughters, Mary Joyce Leahy of Oakhurst, Calif., Johnnie Martin of Atoka, Tenn., and Sandra Bixler of Napa, Calif.; a brother, Kenneth Russell of Milan, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Starnes; and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway Street Church of Christ, with Jamie Beller officiating. Burial will be in Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto with Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Letha Pierce Stark

JONESBORO -- Letha Pierce Stark, 82, of Jonesboro died Friday, Oct. 27, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Jonesboro, she was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Harrisburg.

Survivors include her husband, J.O. Stark of the home; five sons, Royce A. Pierce, J.W. Stark and Tommy Stark, all of Jonesboro, Carl Stark of Weymouth, Mass., and Tim Stark of Mena; three daughters, Ruth Ingram, Judy Guthrie and Velma Cook, all of Jonesboro; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dale Davis and the Rev. Leon Minick officiating. Burial will be in Pierce Cemetery at Jonesboro with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Joe Pierce, Elmer Metcalf and Wade Stark.

Honorary pallbearers will include nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pauline Todd Stewart

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Pauline Todd Stewart, 83, of Manhattan, Kan. died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Mercy Regional Health Center.

Born at Franklin, she was a seamstress for ladies and men's clothing shops. She volunteered at the Riley County Senior Center and was involved in the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star number 561 in Arkansas and the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Louise Henthorne of Austin, Texas, and Ann S. Nicholson of New Castle, Colo.; two sons, Jimmy Stewart of Pensacola, Fla., and Acie Stewart of Manhattan; a sister, Juanita Upton of Guion; a brother, Truman Todd of Davison, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert A. Stewart; and a brother.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan with the Rev. Moon-Hee Chung officiating. Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home of Manhattan is in charge of arrangements.

A celebration of her life will be held in Melbourne on the first day of spring in 2006.

Edward Thompson

NEWPORT -- Edward Thompson, 66, of Newport died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Harris Hospital.

Born at Fitzhugh he was a Navy veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Thompson of Little Rock, Jerry Thompson of Rockford, Ill., and Mike Thompson, also of Illinois; two daughters, Pansy Hall of Marion and Candice Thompson of Illinois; his mother, Mable Thompson of Newport; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday at First Baptist Church of Newport with the Rev. T.W. Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Quiett Cemetery at Augusta under the direction of Taylor-Kimbrough Funeral Home of Newport.

Pallbearers will be Steve Rucker, Leslie Mays, Wendell Green, James Murry, Tommy West and R.D. Brown Jr.

Harry E. Thompson

CULVER CITY, Calif. -- Harry E. Thompson, 61, of Culver City, died Friday, Oct. 21, at Culver City.

Born at Fitzhugh he was a Navy veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Mable Thompson of Newport; two daughters, Tracy Thompson of Culver City, and Kai Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday at First Baptist Church of Newport with the Rev. T.W. Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Quiett Cemetery at Augusta under the direction of Taylor-Kimbrough Funeral Home of Newport.
