Paula Jean Walkup, 81, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a Methodist, a homemaker and the widow of Burt Walkup.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan McKellar of Memphis and Abbie Franklin of Fort Smith; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Carl Morgan
LAMAR — Carl Jacob Morgan, 80, of Lamar died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Lamar. He was a 1944 Clarksville High School graduate, a cattle farmer, USDA food inspector, Army veteran of World War II, and member of Mount Olive Methodist Church, American Legion Bunch Walton Post No. 22 and Johnson County Cattlemen Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Methodist Church with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Lena; a son, David Morgan of Lamar; a brother, Harold Morgan of St. Charles, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Michael Wayne Hall
Michael Wayne Hall, 56, of Alma died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Eugene, Okla. He was a welder, and was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Bobbitt; mother, Lenora Bobbitt; and a sister, Sherma Lynch.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Fern of 30 years; a son, Adam and wife Angela Hall of Sumter, S.C.; three sisters, Deana Van Huss and Linda Beal, both of Van Buren, and Peggy Orr of Alma; three brothers, Steven Bobbitt of Jenny Lind, and David Huff and Larry Huff, both of Rialto, Calif.; and one grandchild.
Thomas Fay Mayo
Thomas Fay Mayo, 90, of Rudy died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local nursing home. He was a retired farmer and cattleman and a member of First Baptist Church in Alma. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie M. Mayo; both of his parents, Carl and Bertha Oliver Mayo.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a son, Bobby Mayo and wife Janet of Missouri City, Texas; a sister, Edna Coleman of Van Buren; three brothers, Gene Mayo of San Antonio, Elmo Mayo of Van Buren, and Harold “Bunk” Mayo of Hayward, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry and Bill Coleman, Skylar Hayes, Edward Graham, Michael Hardison and Harry Garman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hope’s Creek Retirement Center.
Betty L. Kirkpatrick
Betty L. Kirkpatrick, 79, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Temple. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was the past president of the Sparks Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Lindenwood College and the University of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hoyt “Pete” Kirkpatrick Jr.
Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with a private committal at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Terry Kirkpatrick and her husband Rafael Guzman of Long Boat Key, Fla.; four sons, Michael and his wife Pat of Temple, Neal and his wife Rosemary of Tulsa, Dennis and his wife Katherine of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Kelly and his wife Pam Kirkpatrick of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Mary Margaret Kirkpatrick of Tulsa, Casey Kirkpatrick of Manhattan Beach, Sean Kirkpatrick of Dallas, Kate and her husband Ryan Fulton of Seattle, Kerrie and her husband David Thompson of Tulsa, David Hoyt Kirkpatrick of Temple, Emma Louise Kirkpatrick of Surat Thani, Thailand, Molly Kirkpatrick of Londonderry, Northern Ireland, and Emily Kirkpatrick of Dallas; two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Guzman Harris of Ijamsville, Md., and Kathleen Guzman and her husband William Foster of Norman, Okla.; two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Ruby Ruth Rhodes, and a brother, Charles Rhodes.

Eloise H. Harger
Eloise H. Harger, 62, of Ozark died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local hospital. She was born June 20, 1942, in Cass, W.Va., to Roger and Elva Eary Dickenson. She was a member of the Ozark Nazarene Church and was active in all the activities for many years. Eloise met her husband, James Harger, while they were at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington. They were married
Dec. 7, 1963. James and Ellie were stationed at many Air Force bases in the United States and England. They retired from the Air Force after 22 years and moved to Ozark with their only son, James Harger Jr., and resided in Pleasant Homes since 1975.
Survivors include her husband, James Harger of Ozark; a son, James Harger Jr. of Ozark; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Parker of Ozark; and a grandson, Justin Morgan of Ozark; sisters, Dorothy Strehlen of Cass, W.Va., Polly Monk of Arbovale, W.Va., Linda Elliott of Charleston, W.Va., and Ginger Monk of Upper Marlboro, Md.; brothers, Eugene Dickenson of Massillon, Ohio, James Dickenson of Martin, Tenn., Bill Dickenson of Des Plains, Ill., and Larry Dickenson of Dayton, Va. She was preceded in death by her daughter.

Wilma Daniels
Wilma Daniels, 86, of Fort Smith passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She had worked as a sales clerk at Peerson’s Grocery. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and daughter, Dottie Ann. She is survived by her son, Terry Daniels and his wife Lou Ann of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Priscilla Yancey of Mansfield, John C. Daniels and Chad Warren, both of Fort Smith; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Forest Park cemetery.

Emma Dean King, 77, of Fort Smith passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Cook; four sons, David, Terry, Leon and Jimmy King; and two grandsons, Grady and Darrell Cook.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Leard cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Cook of Muldrow and Lisa Barentine of Muldrow; three sons, Richard King of Fort Smith, Roy King of Arkoma, and Sheldon King of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Terry Lovell, Keith Crocker, Larry Jones, Gary Crocker, Garland Nelson and Charlie Atkins.
Glen White Sr.
Glen White Sr., 82, of Mountainburg died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in a local hospital. He was a retired security guard for Advance Security Inc., he worked for the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas as head custodian, and owned a cab service, a sanitation service and a service station. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; and daughter Janet Sill.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and C.J. Hobbs of Alma; four sons, Steve White and his wife Belinda of Mountainburg, Glenn White Jr. of Mountainburg, Thomas White and his wife Linda of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Gary White of Fort Smith; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
There are no services scheduled. Mr. White will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Ina Floyce Allen Telaar
Ina Floyce Allen Telaar, 84, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in the Methodist Nursing Home in Fort Smith. She was a member of Karis Restoration in Van Buren. Ina was born to Rash and Liller Potter of Bluffton in January 1921. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, along with first husband, Glennard H. Allen, and second husband, Doyel W. Telaar. Also preceding Ina were her sister and five brothers.
Surviving Ina are her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Chuck Stephens of Fort Smith; and her son, David Allen of the home. Additional survivors include a brother, Doyce and wife Butterfly Potter of Bluffton, a brother, Verlon Potter of the Kingston community; and a special sister-in-law, June Telaar of New Jersey. There are several nieces and nephews over the country.
Ina has four grandchildren, Todd Stephens and wife Lori of Fort Smith, Traci Elliff of Fort Smith, Marshall Stephens of Fort Smith, and Kevin Stephens and wife Shea of Van Buren. Also living in the area are Ina’s six great-grands, Raechel and Katie Elliff, Morgan and Madison Stephens of Fort Smith and Dylan and Connor Stephens of Van Buren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway in Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway in Fort Smith. The Rev. Ross Devers will preside. Interment will be a private interment at Woodland Memorial Park.

Miss Thora Jane Jones
Miss Thora Jane Jones made her transition on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the age of 95, in Fort Smith. Born on Crow Mountain in Pottsville on Jan. 10, 1910, she was a resident of Fort Smith for more than 65 years. A dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell, she served as a services assistant supervisor and was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a loved member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and an active participant of the United Methodist Church Women’s Guild. She loved poetry, children and storytelling. Miss Jones is remembered for her joyful nature, for her selfless devotion to God and to her family and friends, and for her kindness and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rosalie Jones; one sister, Ava Francis; and one brother, Milton Jones.
Graveside service will be Friday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Biegeleisen of Atlanta, four nephews, one niece, two grandnephews, three grandnieces, one great-grandnephew and niece.
Family will visit friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Chester Turley
Chester C. Turley, 74, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1930, in St. Louis. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a deputy sheriff for Sebastian County for 12 years where he served under Fred Hayes and Jim Tittle, and former owner of Twin City Ambulance.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye; a daughter, Julie Martin of Fort Smith; a brother, David Turley of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.

LAMAR — Mildred Beatrice Clayborn, 82, of Lamar died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Clarksville. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and the widow of Herman Clayborn.

She is survived by a brother, Lee Felkins of Lodi, Calif.

OCEANO, Calif. — Myrtle Ruth Bryant, 71, of Oceano, formerly of Sallisaw, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in California. She was born Feb. 6, 1934, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker.
