Donny Ray Rogers Sr.
Donny Ray Rogers Sr., 59, of Ozark died Friday, March 11, 2005, in his home. He was an Army veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and member of Ozark Masonic Lodge No. 79 and Disciples of Christ First Christian Church of Ozark.
Service will be held at a later date at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith. Obituary submitted by Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rogers of the home; son, Donny Ray Rogers Jr. and wife Danelle of Fort Smith and two grandchildren, Zoe Rogers and Ian Rogers, also of Fort Smith; three stepsons, Kent Rudolph of Lewisville, Texas, Scott Rudolph of Ozark, Kale Rudolph of Ozark; four sisters, Thelma Hall of Bowles, Bonnie Smelly of Longview, Texas, Mary Kennamer of Needmore and Ruth Korbell; one brother, J.T. Rogers of Y City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Rogers home, 307 N. Alston St.

Ronnie Lee Potter
Ronnie Lee Potter, 41, of Lavaca died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in his home. He was born June 8, 1963, in Cameron, Okla., to James and Ruby Arter Potter. He was employed by Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith. Member of the United Steel Workers of America Union at Rheem. He loved coaching Little League baseball in Lavaca. He was an avid softball player and was a No. 1 fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, which he loved very much. He was a member of the Lavaca First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, James Potter; and one sister, Beverly Potter.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Lavaca First Baptist Church with burial at Oak Valley cemetery south of Lavaca under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Paris. Officiating will be the Rev. Grant Ethridge.
He is survived by his wife, Gena of the home; one daughter, Emily Ann Potter of the home; one son, Justin Ray Potter of the home; his mother, Ruby Potter of Cameron; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Betty Wimberly of Lavaca; four sisters, Joyce Harris of Fort Smith, Linda Martin of Cameron, Lovenia Heisler of Cameron and Barbara Freeman of Mena; seven brothers, Jimmy Potter of Bokoshe, Johnny Potter of Poteau, Randy Potter of Wister, Donnie Potter of Cameron, Harold Potter of Wister, Darrell Potter of Cameron and Kenny Potter of Shady Point.
Pallbearers will be Gary Capell, Larry Capell, Phillip Hudson, Clayton Williams, Gerald McCray, Gerald Fox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Foster, Glenn Headley, Steve Smalling and Randy King.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Lavaca.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at First National Bank, account No. 2233-203 to help offset medical expenses and for the education of Justin and Emily.

Hoy Elmer McDonald
Hoy Elmer McDonald, 91, of Greenwood died Friday, March 11, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Johnson County between Alix and Coal Hill on April 19, 1913. Hoy was a coal miner for 33 years, starting at the age of 13. He was a proud member of the UMWA, and was honored by the Coal Miners Memorials in Altus and Greenwood. After retiring from the mines, he was a plumber in the Greenwood community. His favorite pastimes were gardening, fishing and being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Della Stuchman McDonald; his first wife of 51 years, Minnie Lee McDonald; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial at Liberty cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Connie McDonald of the home; one daughter, LeQuita Joyce and her husband Paul Grose of Greenwood and their sons, Kirk Joyce of Fayetteville and Kent Joyce of Noble, Okla.; a son, Wayne McDonald of Greenwood and his children, Regina Guerrero, Michael McDonald and Marcus McDonald of Greenwood, Steve McDonald of Hinton, W.Va., and Shon McDonald of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a son, Elmer McDonald and wife Joy of Greenwood and their sons, Kevin McDonald of Springdale and Clint McDonald of Midlothian, Va.; one step-granddaughter, Sharon Freudenberg of Boardman, Ohio; 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 14 at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Hoy, the loving patriarch and strength of this large family, was so loved by all, and will be sorely missed. We will always remember his favorite greeting, “It’s a beautiful sunshiny day.”
Memorials may be made to St. Edwards Mercy Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Fort Smith, AR 72917.

Mary Opal McPhail
Mary Opal McPhail, 92, of Fort Smith passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the Riverview Fellowship Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. W.V. McPhail; one daughter, Opal Laverne Gosnell; and one brother, Reno Jackson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Westside District cemetery in Taft, Calif.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda and her husband, Jack, Gilbert of Van Buren and Ruth Moore of Fort Smith; one son, Billy Bob McPhail and his wife, Ruth, of Springfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Family will visit with friends this afternoon at Fentress Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m.

Donna Jones
PARKS — Donna Jean Jones, 69, of Parks died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker, an artist, a member of the Garden Club and attended Waldron Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Waldron Church of the Nazarene with burial at Cedar Creek cemetery in Cedar Creek under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by her husband, Eloyd; four daughters, Trish Deer of Fort Smith, Debora Moreno of Houston, Christina Dyer of Norman, Okla., and Ginger Rose of Waldron; three sons, Larry and David Jones, both of Fort Smith, and Steve Jones of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Vera Emery of Waldron and Bonnie Evans of Phoenix; a half sister, Cathy Baker of Phoenix; a brother, Mike Castner of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hunt, Danny Rhyne, Eldred Tinder, Benny Newberry, Charlie Watkins and Lyndy Holland.

Claudia Arney
Claudia LaNere Arney, 60, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a Baptist and a tutor.
Memorial service was held Friday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; a daughter, Crissy Leach of Greenwood; a son, Gerald Arney Jr. of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Pam Strickland of Joplin, Mo.; three sisters, Louise Mulberry of Glendora, Calif., Charlotte Brassfield of Texas and Carrean Klungle of West Virginia; a brother, Steve Gutierrez of Kellyville, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.

Nguyen Tuyet
GERMANY — Nguyen Thi Tuyet, 61, of Germany died Monday, March 7, 2005, in Germany. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Funeral was held Friday at Waldjriedhof Funeral Home in Germany.
She is survived by her husband, Thai Hoang of Germany; a daughter, Thai Thao of Detroit; two sons, Thai Hung of Germany and Thai Hai of Detroit; her mother, Hoang Lan of Vietnam; six sisters, Suong Nguyen of Fort Smith, Nguyen Hoang, Nguyen Thu, Nguyen Minh Ha, Nguyen Thuy and Nguyen Van, all of Vietnam; and a brother, Nguyen Son of Vietnam.

Shorty Brown
WALDRON — Shorty Brown, 57, of Waldron died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in his home. He was a mechanic.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Waldron Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Friendship cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Yandell and Kim Edwards, both of Waldron; two sisters, Loretta Brown of Charleston and O’Neida Wilkins of Sugar Grove; a brother, Ellis Brown of Sugar Grove; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Brewer, Johnny Morgan, Rick and W.A. Black, Tom Evans and Willie Self.

James Jones
MURFREESBORO — James William Jones, 55, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Murfreesboro. He was born July 4, 1949, in Charleston.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by three brothers, Sterling and Jimmy Jones, both of Paris, and Mike Jones of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Jessie Ferguson, Leonard, George and Robert Williams and Lewis Jones.

Bounnam Khounnasenh
Bounnam Khounnasenh, 49, of Fort Smith died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Vientiane, Laos. He worked for O.K. Foods, was of the Buddhist faith and the widower of Bounhom Khounnasenh.
Funeral will be noon today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Sovanna Sayvongsa and Samantha Khounnasenh, both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Kham Phimvongsa of Fort Smith and Khampoune Keomanyvong of Iowa; two brothers, Bounnam Khounnasenh of Iowa and Bounlang Khounnasenh of Pennsylvania; and one grandchild.

Kenneth Carter
CLARKSVILLE — Kenneth Roderick Carter, 60, of Clarksville died Friday, March 11, 2005, in his home. He was retired from the Navy, where he received the Fifth Good Conduct Award, Navy Achievement Medal, Battle E Ribbon with star, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Houston cemetery in Alex with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; a daughter, Sandra Kremers of Clarksville; a son, Kenneth J. Carter of Clarksville; a sister, Helen Burch of Clarksville; a brother, Wayne Carter of Clarksville; and 10 grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and Arkansas Heart Hospital.

Mark Workman
HEMET, Calif. — Mark Edward “Mo” Workman, 41, of Hemet, Calif., formerly of Muldrow, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in California. He was a carpenter, of the Christian faith and attended Muldrow High School.
Funeral was held Feb. 18 at Arlington Mortuary in Riverside, Calif., with burial at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton, Calif.
He is survived by two daughters, Ashley and Kayla Workman, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Larry Hanes of Bar Nunn, Wyo.; two sisters, Carrie Workman of California and Stacy Clucas of Casper, Wyo.; and three brothers, Cliff and Rich Workman, both of California, and Larry Hanes of Muldrow.
Pallbearers were his brothers, cousins and a uncle.

Geneva Bills
MENA — Geneva E. Hiler Bills, 100, of Mena died Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Mena. She was born March 14, 1904, in Elmsdale, Kan. She was a member of the Christian Church, a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star and Farm Bureau Home Demonstration, and the widow of Arthur Bills.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hall Memorial Funeral Service Chapel in Mena. The body will be cremated; a memorial service is planned for a future date at Mapleton cemetery in Mapleton, Kan.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Wood of Cove; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
