Mary Beth Grogan

Mary Beth Grogan, 66, of Jacksonville died Monday, July 5.

She is survived by her sons, Patrick of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jonathan Grogan of Raeford, N.C.; sisters Juanita Meeks of Little Rock, Martha Conrade of Jacksonville, and Reba Evans of Sherwood; brother Ozell Henson of Conway; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 10, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. Burial followed at Mayflower cemetery.

David Stotelmyer Sr.

David Eugene “Gene” Stotelmyer Sr., 72, of Heber Springs died Monday, July 10. He was retired from Moore-Robinson Goodyear and a member of the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs.

He is survived by his mother, Christena Ward of Jacksonville; ex-wife Barbara Stotelmyer of Gordonsville, Va.; son David E. Stotelmyer of Sherwood; daughters Theresa Kilgore of Cherry Valley, Elaine Simmons of Sherwood, and Jeannie Walker of Heber Springs;, sisters Catherine Spencer of Collinsville, Va., and Marry Frances Mitchell of Huntersville, N.C.; brothers John and Jim Ward, both of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 11, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Sherwood.

Betty Ann Connor

Betty Ann Connor, 66, of DeWitt died Friday, July 7. She had been the resident manager of Easy Living and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her son, Steve Connor of DeWitt; daughters Kristi Connor and Vicki Brown, both of DeWitt; brother Delbert Johnson of Sherwood; sister Margie Hale of Hot Springs; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, at the Essex Funeral Home chapel, with burial at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.

Gregory Cooper

Gregory “M.C.” Cooper, 56, of Sherwood died Friday, July 7.

He is survived by his children, Jeanette Fox and Pamela Cooper; brothers Lee Sr. and Nathan Cooper; sisters Cora Cooper and Helen Lairry; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, with Pastor E.D. Lairry officiating.

LeRoy Brown

LeRoy “Punkin” Brown, 45, of Little Rock died Friday, July 7.

Survivors include his wife, Damita Brown; sons Omar and Ashton Brown, both of Sherwood; sisters Mary Washington, Sherry Cato, Dorothy Green, Evelyn Laney and Carolyn Cochran, all of Little Rock, Brenda Davis of North Little Rock, Clarice Roy of Sherwood, and Hazel Williams of Hurst, Texas; and brothers Theolas Brown Jr., Willie Brown, and Ray Brown, all of North Little Rock.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Robinson Mortuary, 1201 Martin Luther King Dr. in Little Rock.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, at New Zion Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor J.B. Minix Sr. officiating.

Phyllis Ann Liebl

Phyllis Ann Liebl, 69, of Sherwood died Friday, July 7.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Miller, Nettie White and Maxine Chandler, all of California.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at the Huson Funeral Home chapel, with interment in Arkansas State Veterans cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock.

Nathan Wilbanks

Nathan Wilbanks, 32, of Sherwood died Friday, July 7. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was employed with C.C. Jones Trucking in North Little Rock.

He is survived by his parents, Robert Wilbanks of Ward and Beverly Wilbanks of Sherwood; sister Susan Wilbanks of Wichita, Kan.; and grandmothers Christine Trigg of Sherwood, and Teah Mollenkopf of Houston, Texas.

Funeral service were held Wednesday, July 12, at the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills chapel in North Little Rock.

Samuel Dee "Sammie" Harris

Samuel Dee "Sammie" Harris, 58, of Jonesboro, stepfather of Brittany Schmidt and Bryan Farmer, both of Walnut Ridge, died April 11, 2003, at his home. Private services were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made to the Ben E. Owens Cancer Center, 223 E. Jackson, Jonesboro, AR 72401; or the American Cancer Society, 3614 Hudson Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Mary Angeline Holder

Mary Angeline Holder, 85, of Ravenden, died April 10, 2003, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born April 5, 1918, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Robert and Nancy Elizabeth Dunnigan Guilliams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Opposition Church of Christ in Ravenden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Layton Stanley Holder, on April 1, 1985, whom she married April 23, 1943, near Ravenden; an infant son, Layton Stanley Holder Jr.; a sister, Marie Matthews; and a grandson, Johnny Leroy Gann.

Survivors include a daughter, Agnes Trivitt, Highland; three sons, James Robert Goff, Sacramento, Calif., George Stanley Holder, Myrtle, Mo., and Coy Burt Holder, Ravenden; two sisters, Josephine Jones, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Dorothy Guilliams, Pocahontas; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Imboden Church of Christ with Danny Wells officiating. Burial was in Opposition cemetery at Ravenden. Higginbotham Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.

Louise Jones

Louise Dawson Jones, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Jonesboro, died April 11, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born April 17, 1923, in Smithville, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mabel Dawson. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wincel Jones, on Jan. 8, 2002, whom she married Jan. 17, 1941, in Jonesboro.

Survivors include two daughters, Annette Denton, Phoenix, Ariz., and Adriene Pinter, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Billy Joe Dawson, Abilene, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Higginbotham Chapel with Bro. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek cemetery at Lynn under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Ethel Lingo

Ethel Lingo, 95, of Walnut Ridge, died April 11, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born in Illinois, she was the daughter of Louis and Lelar Fann Neidinger. She lived in Pocahontas and Portia before moving to Walnut Ridge 60 years ago. She had served as deputy county clerk for Lawrence County, had worked for the Employment Security Division in Walnut Ridge for 12 years and had served on the Lawrence County Cooperative School Board. She had been active in the Lawrence County Home Demonstration Club for many years and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Leonard Lingo, on June 1, 1978, whom she married Feb. 16, 1929; and a sister, Carrie Broadway.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Coker, Walnut Ridge; a grandson, David Coker, Walnut Ridge; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Coker and Will Coker, both of Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ with Dr. Bobby Coker and Junior Briner officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mike Coy, Junior Briner, Gary Kearby, Dan Coker, Jimmy Snapp and Leroy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Ponder Jr., Dr. Ralph Joseph, Dick Jarboe and Milton Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Home at Paragould or to Main Street Church of Christ, Walnut Ridge.
