Catherine Marshall

Catherine Marshall, 66, of Sherwood, died March 23, 2006.

Survivors include her sons, Walter J. Marshall II and Jos0x233 Thompson of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren; brothers, Roosevelt Singleton of Corona, CA, and Andrew Singleton of North Little Rock; sisters, Earnestine McLennan of Little Rock, Frances Persons of Cerritos, CA, and Marie Bruce of Jacksonville.

Funeral services were held March 29 St. Luke Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

Interment will be in the Brooking cemetery in Raytown, MO.

John A. Johnson

John A. “Dutch” Johnson, 85, of Albuquerque, NM, died March 22, 2006.

He was a WWII veteran and served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Mittie Sue; children, Kathy Slaton of Tacoma, WA., Janet Hanger and Scott Johnson both of Sacramento, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Melinda Novembrino of Diamond Bar, CA, and Laura Sanchez of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Calvert Johnson of Sherwood, and James Johnson of Crestview, FL; sisters, Vera Brennings of Little Rock, Inez Kirtley of Conway, Omega Sullivan of Modesto, CA, and Margaret Jeans of Castro Valley, CA.

Services will be held on Fri., March 24, at 1 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, N.M. 87106.

Cecil Malone

Cecil Malone, 80, of Imboden, died March 30, 2004, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born in Leachville, he was the son of George and Leona Lansford Malone. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Kati Lillard Malone; three sons, Gary Malone, Ricky Malone and Ronnie Malone, all of Annieville; two daughters, Brenda Hibbard, Imboden, and Gail Johnson, Annieville; three brothers, Herbert Malone, Annieville, Clyde Malone, Fisher, and Bud Malone, Wilson; two sisters, Lucille McDonald, Fisher, and Nadine French, McGee; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Annieville with Jerry Clements and Harold Russell officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

Charles Humphries

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Charles E. Humphries, 73, of Sherwood, died Feb. 22, 2006. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with a 26-year career as an aviator in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Nell Humphries of Sherwood; sons, Barry and Todd Humphries of North Little Rock, and Jared Humphries of Sherwood; daughter, Melanie Bowers of Sherwood; sister, Shirley Warrick of Benton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Burial was at Mt. Olivett cemetery.

Elizabeth Wenger

Elizabeth “Lib” Gibson Cheairs Wenger, 89, of Sherwood, formerly of Little Rock, died Feb. 23, 2006. She attended Wheaton College and graduated from Biola University in California. She was involved in the establishment of these ministries: The Bible Church of Little Rock, Young Life in Central Arkansas, Bible Study Fellowship and Ozark Conference Center.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Carl E. Wenger; sister, Anne Cheairs; brother, Dr. David B. Cheairs, of Little Rock; children, David and Peggy Wenger of Sherwood, Jonathan Wenger of Wichita, KS, and Anne Olmstead of Portland, ME; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Feb. 25 at The Bible Church of Little Rock. Interment was in the Tillar cemetery. Arrangements were by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Ozark Conference Center, Route 4, Solgohachia, Ark. 72110.

Craig R. Pafford

Craig Rowan Pafford, 54, of Sherwood, died Jan. 14, 2006.

He lived in Sherwood for the past 26 years. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.

Survivors are his son, Craig R. Pafford II of Sherwood; daughter, Rebecca L. Jarman of Angels Camp, CA; mother, Lawana Pafford of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Jennifer Priest of Portland, TX, and Laurell Pafford-Middleton of Bayview, TX; brother, James Pafford of Mayflower; and three grandchildren.

Services were private.

Rev. Lonnie D. Autry

Rev. Lonnie D. Autry, 74, of Sherwood, died Feb. 26, 2006. He was the Pastor of Berea Baptist Church of Jacksonville and retired from the Corp of Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Verdarose Adkins Autry; daughter, Mariell A. “Dee Dee” Autry of Sherwood; sisters, Emily Ewing and Ann Heron of Jacksonville, Belle Gregory of Bonnerdale; and brother, Doyle Autry of Van Buren.

Memorials may be made to Berea Baptist Church, 104 E. Valentine, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076 or Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204.

Funeral services were March 2, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Ethel Mae Powell

Ethel Mae Powell, 82, of Des Arc, formerly of DeValls Bluff, died Feb. 28, 2006.

Survivors include her children, Johnny Powell, William (Snooky) Powell, Opeal Crouch, Naomi Grubbs, David Powell, Sheila Billingsly, Lisa Powell and Phillip Powell; sisters, Pauline Branon and Clara Sue Quin; brother, Junior Dobbs; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lung Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

Desarea Eason

Desarea Eason, 83, of Arkadelphia, died Feb. 27, 2006.

Survivors include her sons, Willie Eason of Sherwood, Charles Eason of Hot Springs Village, and Michael Eason of Hot Springs; daughters, Lillie Eason and Frances Nelson both of Arkadelphia, and Hazel Jefferson of Memphis; sister, Rosie Lee Dixon; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thurs., March 2, Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hubble funeral Home.

Lynne M. Ibrahim

Lynne Murdoch Ibrahim, 54, died Feb. 27, 2006. She was a registered nurse and midwife for 25 years, before her medical problems intensified and she was forced to retire.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dr. Aziz Ibrahim, a pediatrician in Sherwood; son Khalil; daughters Beth, Hanna, and Sameera; sisters, Barbara Thompson of Chesterfield, England, and Jean Maxon of Sheffield, England; and brother, Ronald Murdoch, also of Sheffield, England.

The family would like memorials directed to the Arkansas Kidney Foundation or the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Ida C. Powell

Ida C. Powell, 73, of Little Rock, died Feb. 28, 2006.

She was a member of Sylvan Hills Community Church and retired from Kroger after 20 years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Powell; daughters, Cheryl Stubenrauch of Little Rock, and Carrie Boswell of Germantown, TN; sisters, Ruth Paxton of Rochester, IN, and Cristene Marsh of Shelby, IN; and three grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Community Church, 8019 Sylvan Hills Hwy., Sherwood, Ark. 72120 or American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72205.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Fri., Feb. 3, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 2, at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main.

Anna Reese Cox

Anna Reese Cox, infant, of Sherwood, died Feb. 26, 2006.

She is survived by her parents Matt and Amanda Cox; brother, Aidan; maternal grandparents, Fred and Laura Offermann, and Mike and Patsy Heiller; and paternal grandparents, Ben and Sharon Larick.

A memorial service will be held March 3 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock.

Clara Mae Pegues

Clara Mae Benn Pegues, of Saltillo, Miss., died March 31, 2004, at Homeplace Assisted Living in Saltillo, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Portia, she was the daughter of Kent and Mabel Benn. A graduate of Clover Bend High School, she moved to Memphis and graduated from Draughon School of Business. She retired from GMAC after 30 years of service. She was past president of the North Mississippi Medical Center Auxiliary and past president of Meadowview Garden Club. She volunteered her time to the Lee County Library and the Tupelo Community Concert Association. She and her husband, John Reed Pegues Jr., traveled the United States and many foreign countries.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo, where she was active in many areas, including preschool choir, coaching girls' softball and record keeping for the Sunday school congregation. She was an active member of the choir for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Reed Pegues Jr., on Oct. 31, 2003, whom she married in 1952; a brother, Kent Benn Jr.; three sisters, Fay Walling, Corrinne Karapcik and Vada Benn; and a granddaughter, Memory Edwards.

Survivors include a daughter, Memory B. "Mimi" Pegues, Tupelo; a son, J.R. "J" Pegues III, Bryn Mawr, Pa.; five sisters, Mary Graddy, Walnut Ridge, Joyce Lees, Naples, Fla., Carolyn Patterson, Benton, Albertine Truley, Watsonville, Calif., and Ruth Tipton, Cabot; and three grandchildren, Emma, Siena and Alexa.

Funeral was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo with Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Napier, Fred Pitts, Dr. Bob McCord, Dr. Robert Foster, Cavett Otis, Gregg Kennedy and Aubry Hays.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1008, Tupelo, MS 38802 or the Alzheimer's Society, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Jackson, MS 39216.
