John A. Kennedy

John A. Kennedy, 66, of Sherwood, died Dec. 2, 2005.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Kennedy of Sherwood; daughter, Cheri Pruett of Sherwood; sons, Thomas Lynn Kennedy and John Martin Kennedy; two grandchildren;one great-granddaughter; brother, Jerry Stair Kennedy of Shreveport, LA; and sisters, Kay Keller of Little Rock, and Jo Ann Kennedy of Florida.

A funeral service was held Dec. 6 at the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Together We Build Building Fund at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Ave., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.

Lillie Mae Mullins

Lillie Mae Mullins, 95, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 1, 2005.

She is survived by her son, Harold Lee Mullins, of North Little Rock; daughters, Lillie O’Neal Hindman of Sherwood, Mary Tilbury of Florida, Opal Wright of Baldwin, LA, and Christine Mullins; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Dec. 5 at the Mulberry cemetery. Arrangements were by the North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Eloise F. Jenkins

Eloise Faucett Jenkins, 68, of Jacksonville, died Aug.10, 2005.

She was a member of McArthur Church in Jacksonville.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, W.C. “Rube” Jenkins, of Jacksonville; daughter, Karen Holcomb; two grandsons; brothers, E.D. Faucett, of Sherwood and M.L. Faucett, of Jacksonville; and sisters, Shirley Wood, of Jacksonville and Beverly Winberg, of Michigan.

Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at McArthur Church in Jacksonville.

Burial was in the Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Sarah Hunt

Sarah Berniece Hunt, 86, of Paragould died Aug.13, 2005.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Gainesville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sons, Charles of Canton, MI, John of Memphis, TN; daughters, Jo Ellis of Decatur, IL, Linda Pillow of Paragould, and Paulette Brown of Sherwood; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Mathel Hart Nehlsen of North Port, FL.

Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at the Heath Colonial Chapel. Burial followed at the Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Riley William Castle

Riley William “Bill” Castle, 83, of Sherwood, died Aug. 14, 2005.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an insurance adjuster, real estate broker and in later years, did home remodeling.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Esta Loraine Castle; one son, Brent Alan Castle of Choctaw, OK; two granddaughters; and three step-grandsons.

Burial was in Miriam cemetery in Bethany, MO. Arrangements were by the Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.

Annie Mae Homan

Annie Mae Homan, 78, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 13, 2005.

She is survived by her sons, James Homan of Cabot, Aubrey Homan of Sherwood, and John Wesley Homan of Washington state; daughter, Mary Jane Homan of Jacksonville; brother, William Drury of South Carolina; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug, 17, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel.

Burial followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Bobby R. Leftwich

Bobby Rayburn Leftwich, 62, of Sherwood, died Aug. 14, 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Lou Leftwich; son, Keith Leftwic; daughter, Kathy Haralson; brothers, Lloyd Madison Leftwich and Richard Leftwich; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thurs., Aug. 18, at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Janice Adams

Janice Adams, 77, of Sherwood, Aug. 16, 2005. She was a member of North Hills Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Tony Michael Traylor and Doug Traylor both of Sherwood; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Bernice Conway, and brother, Jim Hall, both of Cabot.

Funeral services were Thurs., Aug. 18, at the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Sumner cemetery.

Bobbie Earl Arnold

Bobbie Earl Arnold, 78, of Sherwood, died Aug. 16, 2005.

He was an active member of the Marine Corps Reserve in the Little Rock Unit retiring in 1977. He later retired from Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Co. as a Senior Claims Representative. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Barbara Arnold; son Kenneth Arnold; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 19, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park with graveside Masonic service with Bro. T.J. Henwood and Crescent Masonic Lodge #403 presiding.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 18, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Crescent Lodge #403 F&AM, P.O. Box, 7228, Sherwood, Ark. 72124; or Victory Baptist Church Bldg. Fund, 505 Sherwood Ave., Sherwood, Ark. 72120.

Lillian Whon-Healy

Lillian Nicole La Whon-Healy, infant, of Sherwood, died Aug. 9, 2005.

Her parents Kevin Healy and Jeanne Lawhon survive her.

Graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m., Sat., Aug. 20, at the Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle. Arrangements by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

Robert E. Jones

Robert E. “Bobby” Jones, 73, of Hamburg, died Aug. 16, 2005. He was a resident of Hamburg for the past 60 years. He was a retired carpenter, insulation contractor, electrician and heating and air conditioning contractor. He was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha Kelley Jones of Hamburg; brothers, James Fay Jones of Sherwood, and Rev. Clyde Jones of Pine Bluff; sisters, Edith Lum and Cora Mae Summers both of Crossett.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Fri., Aug. 19, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Promise Land cemetery.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. box 30, Hamburg, Ark. 71646 or to the Promise Land cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. JoAnn Sullivan, 318 Ashley Road 131, Hamburg, Ark. 71646.

Kenneth W. Ganus II

Kenneth Wayne Ganus II, 25, of Crump, TN, died Dec. 1, 2005.

Survivors include his children, Cheyenne and Kenneth, both of Lexington, TN; father, Kenneth Wayne Ganus of Sherwood; mother, Debbie House of Savannah, TN; and sister, Christy Craig of Savannah.

Services were held Dec. 3 in Adamsville, TN with burial in the Crump cemetery.

Adelle Callaway Bell

Adelle Callaway Bell, 89, of Sparkman died Dec. 4, 2005. She was a retired LPN having worked at Clark Co. Hospital, school health nurse at Sparkman schools, director of the Senior Adult Center in Sparkman, and served for a number of years on the Silver Hair Legislature. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a full time farmer.

Survivors include her sons, Hardy Bell of Sherwood, and William Bell of Sparkman; daughter, Gale Bell of Sparkman; brother, Robert Callaway of Baton Rouge, LA; four granddaughters; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Dec. 7 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment was in the Sardis cemetery.

Cleney Faye Corbett

Cleney Faye Waddell Corbett, 84, of Alicia, died July 27, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1919, near Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Henry Boyd and Edna Gates Waddell. A lifetime resident of Lawrence County, she was a farm wife and a homemaker.

She moved from Old Walnut Ridge to Alicia in 1940. A Christian, she was a former member of the Old Walnut Ridge Baptist Church and had been a member of the Alicia Baptist Church for more than 50 years, serving in various church positions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Corbett, on Feb. 15, 1989, whom she married Jan. 28, 1938; two granddaughters, Teresa Kay Corbett in November 1968; and Monetta Lyn Corbett in November 1982; four brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Corbett and his wife, Loretta, and Stanley Corbett and his wife, Sherry, all of Alicia; a grandson, Larry David Corbett, Marion; two granddaughters, Deborah Teague and husband, Bill, Alicia, and Karla Wadley and husband, Craig, Blytheville; two great-grandchildren, Michelle Teague and Christopher Wadley; a brother-in-law, Glenn Corbett and wife, Snoda, Walnut Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. in Bryan Chapel with Rev. Marvin Reynolds and Bro. Monroe Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is tonight from 5:30 to 8.

Gladys Sutterfield

Gladys E. Sutterfield, 89, of North Little Rock, died 2, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Coeita Quattlebaum, Freida Adams, both of North Little Rock; sister, Norma Laster of Memphis; and eight grandchildren. Graveside service were held Nov. 5, at Leslie cemetery in Leslie. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400).
