Rose Wanda Wright

Rose Wanda (Blasingame) Wright, 79, of North Little Rock, died Nov. 2, 2005.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joe; daughters, Becky Roberts, of Sherwood, and Kim Stacey, of Redfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114.

Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial was in Edgewood Memorial Park. Arrangements were by the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.

Clotiel Benson

Clotiel Benson, 85, Sherwood, died Nov. 1, 2005. Survivors include four sons, six daughters, two brothers, two sisters, and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 8 at Old Morning Star Baptist Church. Interment was in the Forrest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements were by the Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 8821 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, 565-1800.

Ronald K. Howard

Ronald K. Howard, 67, of Sherwood, died Nov. 3, 2005. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for the government for over 50 years.

He is survived by his children, Todd Howard of North Little Rock, and Kim Ayers of Jacksonville; two brothers and four sisters; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral service were held Nov. 7 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel in North Little Rock (501) 835-3515.

Dora Ezell

Dora Ezell, 83, of Sherwood, died Nov. 5, 2005. She was a member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, and a life long member of the Church of Christ and retired from the Arkansas State Health Department. She is survived by her sons, Sam Guy Ezell of Pace, FL, Gerry D. Ezell of Sherwood; daughter, Jeanie Burt of Searcy; and seven grandchildren. Funeral service were held Nov. 8, 2005 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel (791-7400). Interment followed at Ellington cemetery in Magazine. Memorials may be made to In Search Of the Lord’s Way, Television Ministry, P.O. Box 371, Edmond, Okla., 73803.

James S. McClellan

Senior Master Sergeant James Sherman McClellan “Mac”, 79, of Sherwood, died Nov. 5, 2005. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Gravel Ridge.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Dorothy Crigler of Mobile, AL; children, Larry McClellan of California, James McClellan III of Little Rock, Mike McClellan of Texas, Stacy Weeks of Oklahoma, Debra Erickson of California, Tamra Burdette of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He served in the military from 1943-1973 and retired from the Little Rock Air Force Base. Funeral Service were held Nov. 8 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock (501) 835-3515. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.

Hazel Marie Castle

Hazel Marie Castle, 102, of Little Rock, formally of Hope, died Nov. 6, 2005.

She was a member of the Highland Valley United Methodist Church of Little Rock. She is survived by her son, Cary Castle of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wed., Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Kurt Boggan officiating. Memorials may be made to Highland Valley United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Ark. Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock (501) 835-3515.

Ruth Aleen Sexton

Ruth Aleen (Turner) Sexton, 89, of Maumelle, formerly of Bradford, died Nov. 2, 2005. She was a homemaker and had owned a grocery store in Bradford several years. She was an 80-year member of Bradford Baptist Church, and was pianist over 30 years. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann O’Neal of North Little Rock; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Funeral Services were held Nov. 9 at the Bradford Baptist Church. Interment was in the Heard cemetery.

Leah Ann Kennedy

Leah Ann Shue Kennedy, of Sherwood, died Nov. 6, 2005. She survived by her daughter, Michelle Kennedy of Jacksonville; brothers, Buddy and Mike Shue both of Monticello. Arrangements are being made by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. (501) 835-3515.

J.L. Vick

J.L. Vick, 86, of North Little Rock, died Nov. 7, 2005. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, 32nd Degree Mason, Grotto and Scottish Rite. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving in Europe during WWII. J.L. retired after 34 years of service from Mobil Oil Corp. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Turner Vick; sons, Fred Vick of North Little Rock, Curtis Vick of Sherwood; and two granddaughters. A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 10, at Roselawn cemetery with Bro. Paul Holderfield and Bro. Tom Whitsett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (791-7400).

Ida Mae Stecks

Ida Mae Stecks went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2005. Born October 13, 1916, the last of eight children, to Ida May Bevis and William Charles Eagle, she was preceded in death by all her siblings, sisters, Edith Eagle and Frances Gateley McRae; brothers, Dan, C.F. “Todd”, Walter, Shelby and Oscar “Bill” Eagle.

Ida Mae and her husband Carl, the love of her life for 68 years, worked side by side in their farming operation at Scott, AR. Her life was a testimony for the love, joy and care she so generously gave and abundantly received. Though small in stature, yet gentle in spirit, she was fiercely devoted to her family and many close friends. “Miss Ida Mae” loved to interact with other people and never met a stranger. Her legacy is a treasure of wonderful memories shared by her family and friends. We ALL will miss her.

Survivors are her husband, Carl;and her children Carl, Jr. “Freddie” and Jane Stecks, Michael and Jo Anne Stecks, Brenda and Randall Smith; Grandchildren, Carl III “Trey” Stecks and sons, Carl IV “Quad” and Ethan; Greg Stecks, Leigh and Brendan Quirk and children Lily and James; Kevin and Alecia Stecks; Michael Stecks, Jr. and daughter Kennedy; Ami Stecks; Sarah, Stephen, Ben and Eric Smith; sister-in-law, Eunice Watson of England and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 10th at Lonoke United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. Interment will follow in Lonoke cemetery, by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. The family will receive friends, 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or Lonoke United Methodist Church.

Gary L. Roberts, Jr.

Gary Lynn Roberts, Jr., 33, of Jacksonville died Friday, March 4, 2005. Gary was employed by North Little Rock SoftWater as a delivery driver.

He is survived by his parents, Sandra and Robert A. Mahoney of Jacksonville, Gary Lynn and Regina Healy Roberts, Sr. of Sherwood; four brothers, Robert Mahoney, Jr. of Jacksonville, Adam Mahoney of Jacksonville, Marcus Mahoney of Austin and Aaron Roberts of Sherwood; two sisters, Cheryl Ann Roberts and Allison Grace Roberts, both of Sherwood; grandparents, Ver-non and Lavene Rodgers of North Little Rock and Velma Roberts of Cabot.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Sherwood with Rev. Paul McClung and Rev. Royce Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Cabot. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Cabot Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Rhoten Curtis Rhea

Rhoten Curtis Rhea age 89, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005.
He attended a Baptist Church in Orosi, Calif. He then enlisted in U.S. Army in 1939 in Little Rock. Discharged from 17th infantry at Ft. Ord, Calif, 1940. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and retired in 1962. Having served a total enlistment of 20 years, 9 months and 1 day, serving World War II from April 1944 to September 1945. Curtis received four Bronze Stars.

Curtis is survived by four sons Robert Elmo Rhea, Billy Curtis Rhea, of Romance, Paul Edward Rhea, Jodie Clifton Rhea, of Reedley, Calif.; daughter Jan Darlin Bridges, of Granbury, Texas. Also survived by three sisters Cotsy Chenault, of Little Rock, Jewel McMonagle, of New Brockton, Ala.,Virginia Smith, of Cabot; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Friday, March 4, 2005 at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery, with Marion Reynolds officiating. Funeral Arrangements provided by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Robert M. Rankin

Robert M. Rankin, age 62, of Sherwood, died March 3, 2005. Rankin was owner of Rankin Construction. He was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church. Robert was with the Sherwood planning Commission for 23 years. He graduated from Sylvan Hills School and attended The University Of Arkansas.
He survived by his wife of 43 years Sherry; two children Keith Rankin, Kelly Rankin; one brother Claud “Sonny” Rankin; five grandchildren.

Funeral service was Monday, March 7, 2005 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home with Brother Danny Burleson officiating, with burial following at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Vona I. Wood

Vona I. “Pat” Wood, 82, of Cabot, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005. She worked for the Little Rock Police Department where she retired and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cabot.

She is survived by her son, Don Wood of Sherwood; three grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Beene of Greenbrier, Ona Rockwell, (twin sister) of Malvern and Ruth Moore, of Cabot.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Victory Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home.

David C. Garrett

David C. Garrett, 83, of Little Rock, died March 2, 2005.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Little Rock.

His survivors include sons, David S. Garrett of Houston, TX, and Richard D. Garrett of Maplewood, N.J.; daughter, Valerie Reid of Sherwood; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 5, in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills. Interment followed at Forest Hills cemetery.

Pearl L. Hodge

Pearl L. Hodge, 88, of Little Rock, died March 2, 2005.
She was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church which then became Hebron Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters, Sharyon Beck of Sherwood, and Sara McDonald of Maumelle; sisters, Sammie Bailey of Alabama, and Floy Civitarese of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held March 5, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Rainwater officiating.
Interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care or Pulaski County Humane Society.

Ira DeRossitte, Jr.

Ira Earl DeRossitte, Jr., 88, of Sherwood, died March 3, 2005.
He retired from Federal Civil Service at LRAFB.

He is survived by a granddaughter; two grandsons; sister, Helen DeRossitte; brother, Wayne DeRossitte; and three great-granddaughters.

Funeral service was held March 8, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. LeRoy Morgan officiating.

Interment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Maxine M. Wheeler

Maxine Magby Wheeler, 83, of Sylvan Hills, died March 4, 2005.
She was a member of Sylvan Hills Community Church.

She is survived by son, Austin Leon Wheeler; daughter, Barbara Brockinton; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and sisters; Marie Hand and Sue Frey.
Funeral service was held March 7 at Sylvan Hills Community Church with Rev. Tim McMinn officiating.

Interment was at Edgewood Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Community Church.
