John Wallace Young

John Wallace Young, 91, of Sherwood, died March 2, 2005.
Survivor include his wife, Lily Young; son, Freddie Jefferson; daughter, Sharon Young; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 10, at New Zion Grove Baptist Church.

Heather L. Goodman

Heather Leann Brewer Goodman, 31, of Jacksonville, died March 2, 2005.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Goodman; three children, Dustin Goodman, Zachary Goodman and Alexis Goodman, all of the home; mother and stepfather, Diane and David Bjork, Sr., of Jacksonville; father and stepmother, Gary and Susan Brewer of Sherwood; sisters, Bethany Borders of Ward, and Stacy Donathan of Sherwood; brothers, David Bjork, Jr., of North Little Rock, Daniel Bjork of Kansas City, KS, Doug Bjork of England, and Josh Brewer of Sherwood; paternal grandmother, Loretta Conway of Judsonia; maternal step-grandfather, Fred Bjork of Jacksonville.

Funeral services were held March 7, 2005, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Ballard officiating.

Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

William R. Hudgens

William Randle Hudgens, 90, of Lonoke, died on September 21, 2005. He loved to work even into his 80s as an avid gardener who helped plant the Bradford pear trees along Hwy. 70 in Lonoke and worked tirelessly at the city ballpark. He was active in his church, delivering tapes and literature to shut-ins. Randle was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter Kelle Cates. Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Connie Saulters Hudgens of Lonoke; Daughters Joyce Cates (David) of North Little Rock and Sandra Evans (Lenville) of Lonoke; grandchildren, Lynn Dyer (Gary) of Sherwood, Shari Cates of Paron, Jamye Ganis (Woody) of Sherwood, Tammy Evans of Okinawa, Japan, and Bill Evans (Lynda) of Tyler, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Josh Dyer, Matthew and Sydney Ganis, and Emily and Lauren Evans.; sister Doris Garrett of Cabot and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a faithful caretaker, Pat Jones.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 23 at Lonoke Baptist Church with interment in Mulberry cemetery, England. Family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Memorial may be made to Lonoke Baptist Church Building Fund.

Ruby Arlene Hill

Ruby Arlene Ray Boyd Hill, of Beebe, born at Mt. Springs, died in Vilonia on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005. She was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by a daughter, Arlene Boyd of Cabot, and a son Buddy Boyd of Vilonia, two brothers; Neil Ray of Beebe and O.W. Ray of Cabot, a sister; Joye Faye Witcher of Cabot, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Stoney Point cemetery.

Viva Florence Cox

Viva Florence Cox, 92, of Rector, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005. She was a former employed of Mitchell Funeral Home and a member of the Blue Cane General Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Joey Cox of Sherwood; one sister, Freida Landrum of Rector; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector with interment in Woodland Heights cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Blue Cane Church.

Billy Joe Bowles

Billy Joe Bowles, 63, of Sherwood, died Sept. 15, 2005.
He was the former assistant superintendent of desegregation for the Pulaski County Special School District.

Arrangements were announced by Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester, Little Rock, (501) 372-1305.

Chris T. Fricks

Chris T. Fricks, age 93, of Sherwood, died Sept. 15, 2005.
He was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Frick; daughters, Mary Beth Fricks and Chris Fricks, all of Sherwood; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills. Burial followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12 th, Little Rock, Ark. 72204.

Polly Sullivan

Polly Sullivan, 79, of Sherwood, died Sept. 16, 2005.
She was a 50-year member of The Top of The Rock Sweet Adelines Chorus and sang with the Ark Angels Quartet for 25 years, The Master Singers, Singing Women, Women In Construction, and the Democratic Women. She was also a member of Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Gram, of Maumelle; sons, Lee of Crossett and James Sullivan, of Beebe; four brothers, James, of Crossett, Bill, of Denver, CO, Roy of Ruston, LA, and Carroll Wall, of Crossett; three sisters, Catherine Ford, of Hot Springs, Gladys Duncan, of Phoenix, AZ, and Jimmie Ann Robbins, of Livingston, TX; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark., 72116 or The Young Singers Foundation, P.O. Box 470168, Tulsa, Okla., 74147.

Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at the Central Baptist Church. Burial was in the Rest Hills Memorial Park.

William D. Howe

William D. “Buddy” Howe, 83, of Maumelle died Sept. 21, 2005.
In the 1940s he took over his father’s construction business and turned it into Howe’s Incorporated which he ran for 43 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Forrest Highlands Baptist Church. He served in the Army/Air Force in the South Pacific during World War II with the 85th Air Squad.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Floye J. Howe; children, Sharon Mase of New Orleans, LA, and Judy Howe and Linda Howe both of Maumelle; sister, Ruth Slovak of Pasadena, TX, and Maggie Scroggin of Sherwood; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Fri., Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 W. 12 th, Little Rock, Ark. with Rev. Johnny Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Thurs., Sept. 22, from 6 — 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital.

Billy J. McDonald

Billy J. “Bill” McDonald, 67, of North Little Rock, died March 3, 2005.
He worked for Falcon Jet for 27 years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.

He is survived by his wife, Hatsue “Sue” McDonald of North Little Rock; daughters, Veronca Owen of Mansfield, TX, and Stacy Ishcomer of Sherwood; brothers, Harold McDonald, of England, and Lyndell McDonald, of Lonoke; sisters, Dee Davis, of England, and Dorothy Leonard, of North Little Rock; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 7, 2005, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment was in Mulberry cemetery in England.

Helen May Corken

Helen May Corken, 92 of Sherwood, died March 5, 2005.
She is survived by sister, Phyllis Woods, of Sherwood.

Graveside services were held March 9, at Gravel Ridge cemetery with Rev. Jerry Collins officiating.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Picayune, MS.

Bill Ray Harvey

Bill Ray Harvey, 73, of Mena, died March 6, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Harvey; daughters, Angie Harvey of Sherwood, and Sheri Fisher of Hot Springs; son, Marty Harvey of Mena; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 10, in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, Mena, with Rev. Charley Wiles and Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating. Interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at Dallas Avenue Baptist Church or Rich Mountain Community College scholarship fund.

Frederick B. Ragland

Frederick Brett Ragland, 39, of Stuttgart died March 4, 2005.
He attended Stuttgart Public Schools and was affiliated with First United Methodist Church.

His survivors include a sister, Rebecca Walker of Sherwood.
A graveside service was held March 10 at Lone Tree cemetery Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetic Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Janice L. Keathley

Janice L. Keathley, 45 of North Little Rock died March 5, 2005.
She was a member of Mercys Cross Baptist Church in Sherwood.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Keathley of North Little Rock; son, Jason Keathley of North Little Rock; father, Don Varnedore of Hot Springs; sisters, Sheila Doty of Little Rock, and Barbara Albert of Hot Springs; brothers, John Varnedore and Michael Barrentine, both of Hot Springs, Robert Varnedore of Louisiana and Larry Barrentine of Nebraska; and a grandson.

Funeral services were held March 10 at Mercys Cross Baptist Church in Sherwood.

Larry William Hutton

Larry William Hutton, 16, of Sherwood, died March 7, 2005.
He was a student at Sylvan Hills High School and attended Bible Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

His survivors include his parents, Mike and Linda Hutton; brothers, Joseph Antonacci and Michael Antonacci, all of Sherwood; grandparents, Raymond and Margery Mealman of Overland Park, KS, and grandmother, Nancy McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., March 12 at the Bible Baptist Church in Jacksonville, with Dr. Mike Files officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., March 11, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock.

Raymond D. Wilson

Raymond Dale Wilson, 86, of Sherwood, died March 8, 2005.
He was a member of Highland Valley United Church and was born in Lonoke.
Funeral services will be held at Highland Valley United Church with Dr. Kurt Boggan officiating on Fri., March 11.

Interment will follow at the Concord cemetery in Lonoke County.

John Young

John Young, 91, of Sherwood, died recently.
Funeral services were held, March 10, 2005, at New Zion Baptist Church.

Emma Lea Dawson

Emma Lea Dawson, 57, of Fort Smith, died July 18, 2004, at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith.

She was born in Thayer, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvil Lee Gee; her father, Marvin Dawson; and a brother.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Dawson, Fort Smith, Anthony Abbott, Hoxie, Doug Abbott, Walnut Ridge, and Michael Abbott, Ozark; a daughter, Michelle Forehand, Hoxie; her mother, Goldie Davenport, Thayer; two sisters, Sue Todd, Mammoth Spring, and Delories Dianne Dodd, Fulton, Miss.; two brothers, Floyd Dawson, Muldrow, Okla., and Larry Dawson, Thayer; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral was Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Clary Funeral Home chapel in Mammoth Spring with Grover Pingleton officiating. Burial was in Thayer cemetery.
