Maudie P. Gabbard

Maudie Pauline Fulmer Gabbard, of Conway, died Sept. 20, 2005.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Gabbard, Judy Freyaldenhoven, Pam Brenske, and Bobby Gabbard, all of Conway; sisters, Zella Mae Wheeler of Kansas City, KS, and Wanda Jean Grable of Sherwood; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Fri., Sept. 23, at the Second Baptist Church in Conway with Rev. William West officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery. Visitation is Sept. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Phil Durham

Phil Durham, 52, of Light, died July 21, 2004, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro, following a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 30, 1952, in Moline, Ill., he was a self-employed carpenter and was affiliated with the Walnut Corner General Baptist Church near Light.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma McAllister Durham.

Survivors include a son, Rick Durham, Garland, Texas; his father, Phillip C. Durham, Heber Springs; a sister, Peggy Simpson, Light; and two grandchildren, Austin Durham and Allison Durham.

Graveside service was Friday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion cemetery near Walcott with Bro. Bobby Wade officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Richard Simpson, Grayson Simpson, Chris Simpson, Allen Simpson, Jason Wade and Marty Williams.

Nina Grant Adams

Nina Grant Adams, age 89, of Ward, Arkansas, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005, in Humble, Texas. Born November 8, 1916, the youngest child of Robert and Bertha Grant of Ward, Nina was a woman loved and respected by many. She married Marvin E. Adams on August 8, 1943, and lived the life of an Air Force spouse until Marvin’s retirement in 1964. Making a loving, secure home for her family was her priority and she often made that home a refuge for military men serving away from their families.

In 1967, Nina and Marvin returned to her Arkansas roots and lived in North Little Rock. Several years later they built a home on the same piece of land that her family bought in Ward after the turn of the century. A member the Ward United Methodist Church, Ms. Adams also loved military chapels and faithfully attended and volunteered at the Protestant Chapel, Little Rock Air Force Base. She also had been a working, involved member of the Ward Chamber of Commerce until shortly before her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers and her beloved husband, Marvin, to whom she was married for fifty-four years at the time of his death.

She is survived by her daughters, Sammy Harvey, Humble Texas, and Becky Tislow and husband Terry of Niceville, Florida; five grandchildren, Carrie Tislow Jennings and husband Brent, Cumming, Georgia, Angie Amyx and husband Rex, Pasadena, Texas, James Tislow and wife Jennifer, Pace, Florida, Doug Harvey and wife Shawnda, The Woodlands, Texas, and Scott Harvey and wife Andrea, Humble, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren, Allison Tislow, Jordan Amyx, Nicole Tislow, Kade Harvey, Carson Amyx, Jacob Harvey, Alexander Tislow, Brooks Jennings, Avery Jennings, Caitlyn Amyx and Alyssa Bryant. She is also survived by her nieces Joan Boles, Betty Ann Russell, Dorothy Trickey and husband Gene, and Andrea White and husband Mart as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
A time of visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Monk cemetery in Ward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be given in Nina’s name to the Ward United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 50, Ward, AR 72176. www.westbrookfuneralhome.com

Danny A. George

Danny A. George, 66, of Sherwood, died Dec. 21, 2005.
He was an abstractor and an independent petroleum land man.
He is survived by his wife Betty Carson George; daughter, Kim Keathley of Little Rock; son, Keith George of Bixby, OK; step-children Greg Dalton, and Susan Dalton both of Sherwood, Don and Susan Dalton of Springdale, and Beth and Kyle Winebrenner of Cabot; 10 grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Dec. 23 at Friendship Baptist Church, in Sherwood.
Entombment was at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Maxine Mashburn

Maxine Mashburn, 88, of Sherwood, formerly of Luxora, died Dec. 21, 2005.
Funeral services were held Dec. 24 at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with burial in Dogwood cemetery.

Mary Bassett

Mary Bassett, 84, of Sherwood, died Dec. 20, 2005. She was an active member of over 60 years at Leach Chapel CME Church in North Little Rock.

She is survived by her children, Juana Conley of Sherwood, Harry Bassett, Jr., of Alexander, and Daryl Bassett and Navetta Johnson both of Sherwood; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at Leach Chapel CME Church in North Little Rock. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Russell Parchman

Evangelist Dr. Russell Jack Parchman, 82, of Little Rock, died Dec. 24, 2005.
He preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 55 years. After pastoring Baptist churches in Arkansas and Texas for more than a decade, he was called to full-time evangelism in 1963 and preached throughout the United States and abroad for the next 42 years. He was a long-time member of Victory Baptist Church in Benton. Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II.

He is survived by his wife Ann Parchman; daughters, Donna Pipkins of Redfield, Jackie Greer of North Little Rock, Becky Bird of Sherwood, and Lori Drake of Jacksonville; son, Scotty Bridges of Troy, MT; sisters, Tommie Sue Buckley of Mobile, AL, and Charlene Parchman Frank of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Victory Baptist Church, Benton Thurs., Dec. 29, with Dr. Ken Graham officiating.

Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park by Roller Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 5386 Highway 67 South, Benton, Ark. 72015.

Earl West

Earl West, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 24, 2005.
He was a member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife if 72 years, Lenna Mae Munger West; sons, Franklin and Frederick West; and daughter, Glenda L. Fulks; brother, Bill West; sisters, Sue Tartar, Addie Ruth Silcott, and Ruby Lamphier; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may go to the charity of your choice.

Funeral services were Wed., Dec. 28, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

James W. Glenn

James W. Glenn, 76, of Sherwood, died Dec. 26, 2005. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Linda Patrick Glenn; daughters, Leanetta Allen, Diann Bloomingburg, and Alisa Cornelison; sons, Jonathan Gallegly and Stephen Gallegly; sisters Jean Wagster and Faye Frazier; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral service was Thurs., Dec. 29, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Cary Heard officiated. Interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Ava L. Fitzgerald

Ava Lillie (Lewis) Fitzgerald, 91, of North Little Rock died Dec. 25, 2005.
She was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held Thurs., Dec. 29, at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial in Edgewood Memorial Park.

Deane (White) Cloe

Deane (White) Cloe, 63, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 24, 2005. She was co-owner of Quality Small Engine and a member of Small Engine Association of Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick W. Cloe, of North Little Rock; daughters, Christina Torres, of North Little Rock, Debi McElhanon, of Sherwood and Dyana Wilson, of Lonoke; sons, Rick Puckett, of Memphis, TN, Frederick W. Cloe, II, of Perkington, OH, and Rick Cloe, of North Little Rock; mother, Beddie White; sister, Betty Redman, both of North Little Rock; and 17 grandchildren

Memorials may be made to Laman Library, 2801 North Orange St., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114.

Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Bayou Meto cemetery.

Hurbert Jones

Hurbert Jones, 78, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 26, 2005. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Marilou Jones; daughter, Joyce Marie Jones of Shirley; son, Marc Alan Jones of Little Rock; sister, Virginia Cain of Little Rock; brothers, Roy Jones of Jacksonville, FL, J.W. Jones of Bells, TN, and Bill Jones of Chico, CA; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Rose City Nazarene Church, North Little Rock, Ark. or Baptist Hospice.

Eleanor R. Lambert

Eleanor Rucks Lambert, 81, of North Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Dec. 27, 2005.

She was reared and received her education in Memphis, TN, graduating from Lausanne School for Girls in Memphis. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her sons, E. Russell Lambert III of Mooresville, NC, Richard Stockton Lambert of Houston, TX, and Dr. Robert Alexander Lambert of Sherwood; brother, Edward Lindsey Rucks of Memphis; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be Fri., Dec. 30, at St. Luke’s, with Father Keith A. Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland cemetery in Pine Bluff by Robinson’s.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Forrest Marlar, Jr.

Forrest C. Marlar, Jr., 72, of North Little Rock, died on Dec. 27, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Otho Jean Marlar of North Little Rock; son, Michael P. Marlar; daughter, Britney P. Sharp; and six grandchildren.

He was a professional engineer and land surveyor in the State of Arkansas and founded Marlar Engineering Company in North Little Rock in 1966. He was a member of numerous professional and civic organizations. He served in the Arkansas Army Reserves and was a member of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Fri., Dec. 30, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may be given to Central Arkansas Christian Schools, Windsong Church of Christ Building Fund, or the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ.

Steve Forkum

Steve Forkum, 34, of Walnut Ridge, died July 23, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born at Paragould, he was a lifelong resident of Walnut Ridge. He was a student at Arkansas State University and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He had served in the U.S. Air Force for four years at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his father, Buffard H. Forkum.

Survivors include his mother, Maydeen Forkum, Walnut Ridge, and a brother, Jason Ray Forkum, Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with Rev. Steve Trail officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion cemetery, near Walcott, under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Byron Simmons II, Clyde Hill, Curtis Fain, Phill Forkum, Michael Simmons and Rickey Forkum. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Price, Dub Forkum, Byron Simmons, Carl Baird, Gene Wheeless, Bob Forkum and Tommy Waddell.
