Charles Denny

Charles Wesley Denny, 80, of Sherwood died July 29, 2003. Denny served three years in the Army Air Corp in England and Germany. He retired from the FBI in 1982 after 36 years of service. He was an active member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church and was a charter member of Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754 in Sherwood. He recently received the Pillar of Solomon award from the Grand Lodge of Arkansas. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of Little Rock.

Survivors include his wife Mabel Denny; one daughter, Cheryl Leah Bischoff; two sons, Charles Wesley Denny II and Philip John Denny; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, 14502 Cedar Heights Rd, North Little Rock (501) 851-2563 with Bro. Charlie Winters officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.

A Masonic ceremony will be held at 7p.m., Friday Aug. 1, 2003 at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, (501) 835-3515 with a visitation from 7:30 until 9 p.m. following the ceremony.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Cedar Heights Baptist Church.

Lois Irene Yarbrough

Lois Irene Yarbrough, 88, of Conway, died Monday, July 21, 2003.
She was a dietary aide at Conway Memorial Hospital.

Survivors are her sons Larry Yarbrough of Charlotte, N.C., George Ronald “Ronnie” Yarbrough of Sherwood, Robert Earl “Bobcat” Yarbrough of Greenbrier; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Louise Bailey, Eunice Richardson, James Loveless, William “Bill” Loveless, Chester Loveless, Eugene Loveless, Charles Edward Loveless.

Funeral was Thursday at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Peggy Jean Hastings

Peggy Jean Hastings, age 78, of Beebe died July 21, 2003.

She was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beebe, where she served as treasurer for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joe Hastings; two daughters, Peggy Gay of North Little Rock and Karen Regan of Sherwood; two sons, Lloyd and Mark Hastings of Beebe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patty Burns of Beebe.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, with interment at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Leota A. Lienhart

Leota A. Lienhart, 83, of Sherwood, died Saturday, July 26, 2003.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and Iris Society.

She is survived by her husband, Herman, of 54 years; two sons, Mike and Stephen; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Driedric and Sheila Troillett; five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was July 29, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment was at Calvary cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 7000 J.F.K. Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark., 72116; or a charity of your choice.

Christine Childress

Christine Childress, 90, Sherwood, died Saturday, July 26, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Donald Ray Gamble; daughters, Alice Martin, Peggy Fay, Patty Lunceford and Karen Wilkerson; and numerous grandchildren.
Graveside services, by Ashby Funeral Home, were Tuesday, New Rosemont cemetery.

Alphia Welch

Alphia “Chubby” Welch, 74, of Sherwood, died Friday, July 25, 2003.
She was a member of Lynchview Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Hobert Welch Jr. of Memphis, Tenn. and Timothy Welch of Sherwood; two grandchildren; and a brother, Billy Grantham Sr. of Morrilton.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 1022, North Little Rock, Ark., 72115.

Funeral services were Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Brenda Underwood

Brenda Underwood, 56, of Russellville died Friday, July 25, 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Cliff Underwood, Russellville; two sons, Jay Weatherford, Stuttgart, and Larry Underwood, Sherwood; two daughters, Leah Brown, Russellville, and Mary Kay Conatser, Hurst, Texas; eight grandchildren; her mother, Louise Wood, Russellville, and a brother, Mike Wood, Russellville.
Memorial service was July 29, at Humphrey Chapel.

Joe Lee Bratton Henson
Joe Lee Bratton Henson, 39, of Brookland, father of Derek Henson of Hoxie, died Sept. 15, 2004, at Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis. The body was cremated. Emerson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Charles Martin Kirn

Charles Martin Kirn, 70, of Sherwood, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003.

His daughter, Tracy, precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife, Jackie.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery on W. Maryland Ave.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice Center, 2200 Ft. Roots Dr, North Little Rock, AR 72114.

Donald W. Chism

Donald W. Chism, 69, of Sherwood died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003.

He was a member and deacon of Highway Baptist Church in Sherwood.
He is survived by his wife, Jo (Bryan) Chism of Sherwood; two sons, Mitch Chism of North Little Rock and Scot Chism of Sherwood; daughter Jill Staton of Sherwood; three brothers, John Chism of Little Rock, Ben Christmas of Brandon, Miss., Lynn Christmas of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Highway Baptist Church, 5845 Round Top Drive, Sherwood, Ark. 72117.

Funeral service was Thursday at Highway Baptist Church. Entombment was at Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Winna Fay Tucker

Winna Fay Tucker, 87, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003.
She was a retired seamstress for Levinson Cleaners and a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, James H. Tucker of Sherwood ; twin sister, Wanna May Buckner and sister, Fauna Franks both of Humboldt, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East “C” St., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.

Funeral service was Wednesday at Park Hill Baptist Church with burial at Rest Hills Memorial Park. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

June Virginia Jordan

June Virginia Jordan, 48, of Sherwood, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Danny B. Huey Jr. of North Little Rock; two daughters, Tamra M. Cotton of Jacksonville and Briget J. Holloway of Cabot; father, Freeman Teeters of Ohio; mother, Lola May (Howington) Teeters of Michigan; two brothers, Jim Teeters of Ohio, Jonathan Teeters of Michigan; two sisters, Ramona Rankey of Michigan and Lola Teeters of Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Funeral was Sept. 17, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, with interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, Little Rock.

Ricki R. D. Pavan

Ricki Rechelle Diane Pavan, 39, of Sherwood died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Sarah; sons, Tony and Alex, all of Sherwood; and stepdaughter, Marisa of Little Rock; her parents, Jan and Charles Freeman of Bonnerdale; two brothers, Randy Freeman of Searcy and Jody Freeman of North Little Rock; grandparents, Hugh and Rolferene Freeman of Delight.

She had worked as a Psychological Examiner. She was currently attending post-graduate classes at UCA to obtain her LPC (Licenses Psychological Counselor).

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 15, at Immaculate Conception Church, North Little Rock. Graveside services were at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Battered Women’s Shelter, P.O. Box 1936, Little Rock, Ark., 72203-1936.

Joseph Carl Styers

Joseph Carl Styers of Sherwood died Sept. 10, 2003, at the age of 71.
He had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Valador and was a retired truck driver who had worked for Transport South in Atlantic, Ga. He was of the Assembly of God Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Joan Harmon Styers; one daughter, Becky Lindsey; one son, Keith Styers; his mother, Thelma Gladys Styers; one sister, Sue Mitchell; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Interment was at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the First Assembly of God Church, Commercial and Burrow Road, North Little Rock, Ark., 72116; or Arkansas Hospice Center, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, Ark., 72114.

James Howard Scott

James Howard Scott, age 62, of Fayetteville, died Friday.

He was a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Survivors are a son, Ben K. Scott, Fayetteville; mother, Mary Dirth Scott, Sherwood; brothers, Douglas Scott, Memphis, Tenn., Paul L. Scott, Oregon, Richard Scott, Arizona.

Graveside services were Monday at Cameron cemetery in the Salem Community.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
