Linda Marie Gatewood
Linda Marie Gatewood, 51, of Hoxie, died Dec. 6, 2004, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
Born in Hoxie, she was a graduate of Hoxie High School and was a former student at Black River Technical College. She lived in Fayetteville and Pocahontas before moving back to Hoxie last year. She was a factory machine operator for many years and a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Stella Irene Ledbetter Gatewood; a brother, Jessie Gatewood; and a stepsister, Mary Hayes.
Survivors include three sons, Brett Stayton, Pocahontas, Bart Stayton, Winona, Mo., and Edward Stayton, Paragould; five sisters, Pauline Newman, Benton Harbor, Mich., Alice Lansdale, Kalamazoo, Mich., Ella Hyde, Paragould, and Norma Sharp and Joann Petero, both of Hoxie; four brothers, James E. Gatewood, Little Rock, Bobby Gatewood, Paragould, Clark Gatewood, Hoxie, and Jimmy Gatewood, Alton, Mo.; four stepsisters, Fern Lawson and Willie Tyler, both of Walnut Ridge, Paulette Dildine, West Plains, Mo., and Brenda Smith, Pocahontas; two stepbrothers, Junior Lewis, Ava, Mo., and Rick Lewis, Black Rock; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with James Warbington officiating. Burial will be in Whittaker cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Trent Gatewood, Jeff Gatewood, Ross Gatewood, Alvin Petero, Jesse Fry and David Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Thompson and James Anderson.
Visitation is tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Kathryn Hahne
Kathryn "Kay" Hahne, 82, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of William and Alta Webb Jonas and moved to Walnut Ridge from Madison, Ill., six years ago. She was involved in the Tri City Area Association Special Olympics in Madison for many years. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armond Hahne; and a brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Richey, Lynn, and Sandra Hahne, Springfield, Ill.; three sons, Garry Hahne, Black Rock, Michael Hahne, Granite City, Ill., and Carmen Hahne, Lamont, Calif.; two sisters, Mary LaDon Flopell and Mary Francis Hoppe, both of St. Louis; three brothers, Richard Jonas, New Mexico, Bobby Jonas, St. Louis, and Victor Jonas, California; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National cemetery in St. Louis under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Darlene Garcia Haxton
Darlene Garcia Haxton, 48, of Huntsville, Ala., formerly of Imboden, died Dec. 1, 2004, at her home.
Born Jan. 31, 1956, in San Diego, she was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Flint River Baptist Church in Hazel Green, Ala.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alfred H. Haxton III.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred H. Haxton Jr., whom she married
July 31, 1982, in Ravenden; three daughters, Kathryn Haxton, Huntsville, Ala., Marsha Myrick, Biscoe, N.C., and Angela Haxton, Starks, La.; two sons, Patrick Haxton, Huntsville, Ala., and John Haxton, Fort Collins, Colo.; her parents, John and Janice Garcia, Smithville; a sister, Elaine Ridenour, Enterprise, Ala.; and four brothers, John Garcia Jr., Houston, Texas, William Garcia, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Robert Garcia, Canyonville, Ore., and David Garcia, Dublin, Ohio.
Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Imboden with Tracy Martin officiating. Private family burial was in Smithville cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board for Philippines.
Anna Katherine Holder
Anna Katherine Holder, 95, of Riverview, Mich., formerly of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Rivergate Terrace in Riverview.
A former resident of Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Charles and Etta Frasier Fain. She a retired customer service representative for a department store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Holder; two daughters, Wanda Lee and Betty Ann; a son, Raymond Corbett; and a granddaughter, Jackie Stowe Hannah.
Survivors include a daugter, Mary Etta Whitelaw, Southgate, Mich.; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service is today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Warren Whitelaw officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Oscar Haywood Murphy
Oscar Haywood Murphy, 96, of Egypt, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born in the Egypt community, he was the son of Oxley Glenwood and Bertha Mae Saffell Murphy. He was a retired farmer. He lived in the Egypt community all of his life and was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Orpha L. Adkisson Murphy, whom he married
Oct. 1, 1933; a son, Glenn Murphy, Walnut Ridge; two grandchildren, Virginia Blair Ballard and Crockett Glenn Murphy; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held Monday evening, and the funeral was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with Don R. House and A.J. Stracener officiating. Burial was in Markham cemetery near Egypt under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were J.T. Chronister, Ellis Hooten, Bill Fort, Bud Fort, Odell Fort, Ernest Caraway, Warren Baxter and Jerry Felts. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Joe Hoffman and Fordy Hooten.

Johnnye Murphy Smith
Johnnye Murphy Smith, 82, of Pocahontas, died Dec. 1, 2004, at Pocahontas.
Formerly of Lawrence County, she was the daughter of John N. and Anora Martin Murphy. She lived in Jonesboro for many years before moving to Pocahontas. She was a retired bookkeeper for Germantown Lumber Co., a homemaker, a volunteer for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Annieville.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie G. Smith; a daughter, Karen Thompson, Chicago; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Jerry Clements and Harold Russell officiating. Burial was in New Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bob Tomlinson, Tom Marbry, Frank Wilson, Coy Slusser, Ben Foley and Rickey Goff.

Talmadge Willard Smith
Talmadge Willard "Sonny" Smith, 69, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Light, died Dec. 5, 2004, at Hospice Home in Pinellas Park, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Talmadge Smith Jr.; a daughter, Milissa Smith; his parents, Lattie and Hester Smith; two brothers, Gerald Smith and Paul Smith; and three sisters, Blanche Songer, Nova Jones and Zelma Newson.
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Smith Shook; five sisters, Wanda Slatton, Light, Viola Cook, Walnut Ridge, Mona Howard, Niceville, Fla., Geneva Rowe, Woodland, Mich., and Ila Robertson, Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Tommy Smith, Lansing, Mich.; three grandchildren, Ian Shook, Bryon Shook and Jackson Shook; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Penny Loraine Wade
Penny Loraine Wade, 40, of Smithville, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born April 23, 1964, in Orange, Calif., she was a homemaker and was of the Protestant belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wade, on April 7, 2004; and father, James Louis Swartz, on Nov. 8, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Jody Wade and Sarah Wade, both of the home; her mother, Ruby Swartz, Ravenden; two brothers, James Jacob Swartz, Florida, and Michael Lynn Swartz, Ravenden; and a sister, Marsha Swartz, Hoxie.
A memorial service will be announced later by Bryan Funeral Home.
Joel Nathan Williams II
Joel Nathan Williams II, 77, of Lynn, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Jonesboro.
Born in Saffell, he was the son of Joel N. and Esther V. Milligan Williams. He was raised in Strawberry and lived in California and Washington for many years before returning to Lawrence County last month. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and a retired machine operator and adjuster for Cello Bags.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arie P. Williams; a brother, Vern Williams; and two sisters, Gladys Spray and Burgie Ballard.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Barnett Powers Williams; two sons, Larry Williams, Pacific, Wash., and Bobbie Williams, Auburn, Wash.; a daughter, Nancy E. Parise, Auburn, Wash.; two brothers, Dale Williams and Thomas Williams, both of Moline, Ill.; a sister, Amy S. Whitlow, Strawberry; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The body will be cremated. A private memorial service will be planned. House-Gregg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Jack C. Berry
Jack C. Berry, 84, of Sedgwick, died Dec. 24, 2004, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Born March 12, 1920, in Sedgwick, he was the son of John and Anna Mary Vinson Berry. He was a retired warrant officer with the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was also employed with General Electric, I M Debold Cotton Gin, and worked for 20 years with Cox-Implement. He was a member of the PT Boats National Organization, the Peter Tare Association, the Military Officers Association of America and Sedgwick Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John T. Berry, Paul L. Berry and Forrest Berry; and two sisters, Evelyn Berry Fielder and Eunice Berry Townsend.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Miller Berry, whom he married
Oct. 1, 1949.
Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Higginbotham Chapel with Thomy Green officiating. Burial was in Old Military cemetery at Sedgwick under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Corwin Petty, Charles Petty, Anthony Whitley, Kevin Simms, Kevin Kapales and Lanny Fielder. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Davis, Charles Dame, Buel Dame, Harold Manus, J.S. Clyde Coleman
Clyde Coleman, 81, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 25, 2004, at his home.
Born in Memphis, he was the son of George Richard and Nettie Lou Johnson Coleman. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School, a World War II Army veteran and received his pharmacy doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He was the owner of Mallory Heights Pharmacy in Memphis for 30 years before relocating to Walnut Ridge in 1980. He was the past director of the pharmacy at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and a consultant for Lawrence Hall and the Public Health Department.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Martha Miller Coleman; two daughters, Marty Moore Anderson, Memphis, and Glenda Loyd, Jonesboro; a son, Richard Coleman, Bartlett, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with Elder Larry Anderson officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill cemetery at Memphis under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Lexx Loyd, Blair Loyd, Judd Loyd, Coleman Moore, Gregory Coleman, Zachary Coleman, Phil Hagan, and his best friend, Archie Hardin. Honorary pallbearers were Quincy Coleman, Elijah Coleman and Jimmy Clyde Coleman.
Rita Ann Keller Dickerson
Rita Ann Keller Dickerson, 64, of Section, Ala., died Dec. 21, 2004, following a short illness.
Born July 23, 1940, in Indianapolis, she was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis and attended Purdue University.
She worked for Review Publishing in Indianapolis, where she became publisher of Amateur Athlete, Child Life, The Brownie Reader (which she co-founded), Children's Playmate, Design, and Jack and Jill magazines. She was also executive publisher of Holiday magazine and associate publisher of The Saturday Evening Post. She left Review Publishing in 1972 after being honored in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Women. She became circulation director of Ms magazine in 1973.
She left the publishing business in 1974 to devote her time to raising her children. She returned to work in 1981 as a fundraiser for a variety of non-profit charitable organizations, which she continued until she retired in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Miller L. Keller and Mary Catherine Lux Keller.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Guy Rex Dickerson; two sons, Vernon "Kelley" Cooper Jr., Jonesboro, and Robert Rex Dickerson, Little Rock; two daughters, Catherine Marie Coker, Walnut Ridge, and Jennifer Frances Jones, Section, Ala.; three brothers, Tom Keller, Noblesville, Ind., Jack Keller, Saratoga, Calif., and Kerry Keller, Indianapolis; a sister, Frances French, Carmel, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Southwest Chapel in Little Rock. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
