Cheri Renee Howard
Cheri Renee Howard, 29, of Powhatan, died Dec. 22, 2004, at her parents' home.
A 1993 graduate of Black Rock High School, she was a former certified nursing assistant at St. Bernards Medical Center, a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, 1st Lt. Steven Ty Howard, currently stationed in Baghdad; two sons, Drew Howard and Christian Noble Howard, both of the home; a daughter, Ashlee Nicole Howard, of the home; her parents, Rodney and Mary Sade Kissee, Powhatan; and her grandmothers, Ethel Wilcoxson, Hoxie, and Lillie Whitlow, Black Rock.
Funeral is today at 10 a.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel with Rev. Glenn Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Strangers Home cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Manning, David Manning, Daniel Manning, John Manning, Shawn Bryant and Rick Sade.
James McGuffey
James McGuffey, 71, of the Calvin community, near Alicia, died Dec. 23, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born in the Bramlett community, he lived in St. Louis for eight years and moved to the Calvin community in 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea, and was a retired carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth McGuffey; his mother, Olive Cobble, Walnut Ridge; a sister, Evelyn Williams, the Oak Grove community; and a brother, Harley Mack Turner, Bramlett.
Graveside service was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Calvin cemetery near Alicia with Bro. Monroe Baldwin officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Rufus Voage Saffell
Rufus Voage Saffell, 101, of Jonesboro, died Dec. 25, 2004, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Home.
Born in Egypt, he was the son of Samuel L. and Molly Butler Saffell. He was a lifetime resident of Northeast Arkansas, a retired farmer and school bus driver, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudie Pierce Saffell; and two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Donald Ray Saffell, Van Buren; three daughters, Wanda Keltner, Bridgman, Mich., Bernice Jones Henry, Jonesboro, and Lucille Emmons, Evans, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral is today at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will be in Keller's Chapel cemetery.
Grandson Larry Jones and nephews George Pierce, Royce Pierce, Joe Pierce, Gaylon Pierce and Randall Pierce will serve as pallbearers.
Bertha Mae Wagoner
Bertha Mae Wagoner, 90, of Batesville, died Dec. 27, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born June 14, 1914, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of William Everett and Nancy Brown Ballard. She lived in the Walnut Ridge area until moving to Batesville in December of 1996. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Fred Edward Wagoner; a sister, Lucy Ballard Prelip; two brothers, Fred Ballard and Willie Ballard; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Crafton, Jonesboro, and Bettie Schleiff, Batesville; two sons, Fred Dewayne Wagoner, Joplin, Mo., and Joel Wagoner, Batesville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral is today at 1 p.m. in Bryan Chapel with Bro. Lavon Post officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joel Schleiff, Gregg Schleiff, Chris Wagoner, Eddie Wagoner, John Wall and Joel Wall. Honorary pallbearers will be Anita Keith, Bill Keith, Junior Wagoner, Inez Wagoner, Norman Butts, Norma Butts, Neda Munn, Bill Munn and the Agape Sunday School class of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Georgia Anderson
Georgia Molly Sneed Anderson, 93, of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Powhatan, died Jan. 31, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 20, 1911, in Noland, she was the daughter of Gus Sneed and Myrtle Weaver. She was a homemaker and a member of the senior citizens group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Anderson, on Dec. 25, 1968, whom she married
March 30, 1934; three daughters, Pauline Murray, Mary Patrick and Kathy Simmons; four sons, Darence Anderson, Clarence Anderson, William ÒBudÓ Anderson and John Anderson.
Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Wagster, Benton Harbor, Mich., Anna Cole, Beaverton, Ala., Ollie Bush, Milan, Ill., Thelma Bender and Carol Logue, both of Colona, Ill., and Betty Locke, Smyrna, Tenn.; a son Clifford Anderson, Lynn; 53 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Higginbotham Chapel with Bros. Jason Palmer and Harold Russell officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel cemetery at Denton under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tim Bush, Shon Logue, Tom Bender, Bill Murray, Bill Anderson, Mark Anderson, Johnny Anderson, Sam Webb and Chuck Cole.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
James L. Bramlett
James Louis Bramlett, 77, of Jonesboro, died Jan. 28, 2005, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born at Pocahontas, he was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and the former Arkansas Tech at Russellville. A Navy veteran, he lived most of his life in Jonesboro and was a salesman for Armour Meat Packing and J. Freeman Food Service Co.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ona Floyd Bramlett; and a son, Brad Bramlett.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Burrow Bramlett; a son, James ÒMikeÓ Bramlett, Apopka, Fla., a stepson, Mark L. Jeffress, Rockville, Md.; and two granddaughters, Kato Jeffress and Erin Jeffress.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Emerson Funeral HomeÕs Memorial Chapel with Rev. Emil Williams officiating. Burial will be private.
James L. Elrod
James L. “Buddy” Elrod, 81, of North Little Rock died Dec. 9, 2003.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the DAV. He retired from accounting and finance at the Little Rock Air Force Base. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Ozella; a son, Jim Elrod of Sherwood; a daughter, Sandra Elrod of Springfield, Mo.; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marie Curton of Stuttgart and Vivian Wood of Liberty, Mo.
Funeral was Dec. 13 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle.
Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.
Mary Edith Glover
Mary Edith Glover, 86, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 14, 2003.
She is survived by four sons, Dennis Glover of North Little Rock, Wayne Glover of Ft. Smith, Jerry Glover of Sherwood, and Rick Glover of Overland Park, Kan.; two daughters, Ann Dotts of North Little Rock and Jean Berry of Redfield; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with interment in Sumner cemetery in Jacksonville.
Jeanne Mary Cordell
Jeanne Mary Engelberger Cordell, age 82, of North Little Rock died Dec. 11, 2003.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters, Elkettes, Women of the Moose, and St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Cordell of North Little Rock; four daughters, Jeannean Bauer of Sherwood, Sandy Ledet of North Little Rock, Emilie Apple of North Little Rock and Mary Ruth Jeu of North Little Rock; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Rosary Services were held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, with funeral service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Dec. 15. Interment was in The National cemetery, Little Rock. Dalton Allen Raines
Dalton Allen Raines, 74, of Jacksonville died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service then went to work for the United States Postal Service for 15 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville and Upper Room Sunday School Class. He was involved in the Scimitar Shrine of Little Rock and Shrines Club of Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Hellen Staton Raines; daughters, Carolyn McCall of Sherwood, Janice Rankin of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Susan Raines of North Little Rock; sister, Jolene Ford of Newkirk, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Dec. 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville followed by entombment at Rest Hills. Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home was in charge.

John C. Wisner Jr.
John Charles Wisner Jr., 73, of Star City died Saturday.
He worked as a conductor for the Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Star City, the Modern Woodmen of the World; he received his Master Mason degree at the Jacob Brump Lodge #160 in Pine Bluff and was a current member of the Branchville Lodge in Star City; a member of the Stone Hunting Club in Ashley County, a past Patron of the Eastern Star Chapter, an ordained deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Star City; and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Survivors include his wife, Laquita McCurry Wisner of Star City; one son, John C. Wisner III of Sherwood; two daughters, Joy Graham of Monticello, Angel Owen of Griffith Springs; three sisters, Francis Kresser of San Diego, Calif.; Martha Gangnath of Winchester, Tenn.; Gloria Doty of Lebanon, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Star City. Burial was in Mount Olive cemetery in Ashley County. Griffin Funeral Service was in charge. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Star City.
D. Michael Babb
D. Michael Babb, age 63, of Sherwood, died Dec. 8, 2003.
He had a career in the surety and insurance business. He was president of Babb Bonding Inc., a former member of the North Little Rock Jaycees, Surety Association of Arkansas, Associated Builders and Contractors, Associated General Contractors, president of the Chimney Rock Home Owners Association, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife Jean; a daughter, Miki Rogers of Sherwood; a son, Randy Babb of North Little Rock; his mother, Doris Babb of North Little Rock: his brother, Patrick Babb of Little Rock; three sisters, Melva Davis of Sarasota, Fla., Donna Allen of Sherwood, Suzi Baxter of Dallas Texas; and three grandchildren.
A Rosary was held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, with funeral services Dec. 12, at Immaculate Conception Church, North Little Rock.
Irene Bristow
Irene Bristow, 82, of Strawberry, died Jan. 31, 2005, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
A native of Strawberry, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Myrtle Flower Stephens. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bristow; her grandparents who raised her, Allie and Rebecca Holloway Fowler; and an infant grandson.
Survivors include a daughter, Neda Simmons, Jonesboro; three sons, Bill Bristow, Jonesboro, Jackie Bristow, Melbourne, and Danny Bristow, Vicksburg, Miss.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at the House-Gregg Funeral Home in Lynn with Don R. House officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek cemetery.
William A. Guenther
William A. Guenther died Dec. 27, 2003.
He was a member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church in North Little Rock and The Crusaders Class. He was a retired salesman from Roach Paper Co. and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel Guenther; one son, Stephen Guenther of Springdale; one daughter, Judy Hale of Sherwood; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Frances Nell Jones of Rockford, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer, North Little Rock.

Deleta Jacqueline “Jackie” Poe, 79, of Sherwood died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2004.
She was a retired librarian with the Arkansas State Library Commission.
