Lenore J. Wisdom, age 85, of Carlisle, died Feb. 14, 2004.
Graveside services will be private to the family in Arkansas Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Kent Lum Jones

Kent Lum Jones, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands and later in Europe. After the war, he and his brother established a successful automobile business in Little Rock.

He is survived by his two sons and daughter, Ronald K. Jones, Little Rock, Donald L. Jones, Plano, Texas, and Diane Baggett of Sherwood; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert Jones Sr. of Little Rock.

Memorial services were under the direction of Griffin Leggett Funeral Home Feb. 22 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth.

Memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72210.

Jewell D. Whittaker

Jewell Dean Whittaker, age 89, of Benton died Feb. 17, 2004.

She was retired from Munsey Toaster Inc. in Little Rock, and a member of the Benton Foursquare Church.

Survivors: sons, Ray Dean Whittaker, Orlando, Fla., Ralph Gene Whittaker, California, and Earnest Leon Whittaker Jr., Washington State; daughters, Irma Mason of Benton, Wanda Abston of Kentucky, Clara Wolfe of Indianapolis, Ind., Teresa Bise of Benton; brothers, Bertle Alphin of Missouri, Bartis Alphin of Sherwood; sister, Beulah Wallin, Walnut Ridge, Ark.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were Saturday at the Benton Foursquare Church with burial at Arnolds cemetery in Swifton.

LeRoy Barber

LeRoy Barber, 84, of Sherwood, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. After the war, he was a County Extension Agent for the Arkansas Agricultural Extension Service for 35 years until retiring in 1977. He was a member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ in Sherwood.

He is survived by his wife, Memory, of the home; two sons, Glenn Barber of Sherwood, Rob Barber of Larkspur, Colo.; five grandchildren ; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Hester Childs of Hamilton, Ohio, Arletha Rodriquez of Tulsa, Okla., Allie Jo Mills of Sand Springs, Okla., Helen Jean Philpot of Mena, Ark.; brother, Elisha Barber Jr. of Little Rock.

Funeral services were Feb. 26, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with burial at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.

Mildred Buchanan

Mildred Marie Leonard Buchanan, 89, of Batesville died Feb. 23, 2004.
She became a member of Central Avenue Methodist Church in 1934, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and led singing in her Sunday School class.

She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Cook of Sherwood and Virginia Ball of Searcy; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday at the Central Avenue Methodist Church in Batesville with burial at Oaklawn cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Memorials may be made to Central Avenue Methodist Church, 1205 N. Central Ave., Batesville, Ark. 72501.

Lula Mae Fraser

Lula Mae Fraser, 87, of Cabot died Feb. 23, 2004.

She is survived by two sons - Samuel Lee Fraser of Georgia and Roger Fraser of Sherwood; four grandchildren; a sister, Frances Rhineheart.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Winkenhoffer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, Ga. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cartersville, Ga. Local arrangements by Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood.

D. Wade Harlan
D. Wade Harlan, 89, of Sedona, Ariz., formerly of Trumann, died Jan. 23, 2005, at his home.

Born in OÕKean, he was the son of Lee and Ollie Doak Harlan. He moved to Sedona in the 1940s and was a retired accountant for the state of Arizona. He served in the Marines in the Aleutian Islands and Okinawa during World War II. He was a past master of Thunderbird Masonic Lodge No. 48, past president of Phoenix South Mountain Lions Club and was a member of Sedona United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Robertson Harlan; three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include two brothers, Crawford Harlan and Delbert Harlan, both of Trumann.

Funeral was Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sedona United Methodist Church, 110 Indian Cliffs Road, Sedona, AZ 86336.

Sylvia Hurst
Sylvia Hurst, 90, of the Bramlett community, died Feb. 1, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born in Plummerville, she lived in the Bramlett community most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hurst; a son, Silas Hurst; and a grandson, Marty Dale Hurst.

Survivors include five daughters, Theresa Parks and Bess Wilson, both of Jonesboro, Eva Hurst, Alicia, Esther Montgomery, Walnut Ridge, and Rachel Hurst, Hoxie; a son, Zane Hurst, Walnut Ridge; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Thursday at 10 a.m. at Calvin cemetery with A.J. Stracener officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ellis Raney
Ellis Raney, 92, of Smithville, died Jan. 28, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born June 10, 1912, in Strawberry, he was the son of Marion and Omie Dorise Raney. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loena Orrick Raney, on May 9, 2003; a sister, two brothers; and a grandson, Bobby Raney.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Lewis, Batesville, and Modene Hoggard, Smithville; two sons, Eugene Raney, Powhatan, and Bobby Raney, Eaton; three sisters, Faye Champion, Batesville, Ruby Evans, Lynn, and Pauline Taylor, Strawberry; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. in Higginbotham Chapel with Harold Russell officiating. Burial was in Old Lebanon cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Murphy Lewis, Fred Lewis, David Hoggard, Ralph Hoggard, Mitchell Hoggard, Kevin Hoggard, Ricky Raney and Greg Allen Raney.

Frances Rennard
Frances E. Rennard, 81, died Thursday, April 15, 2004.
She had been a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist since 1963 and was a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Rennard; two sons, Donald Rennard and Dennis Rennard; daughters, Sandra Hogan and Lori Bearden and; a brother, Bill Jones; a sister, Mary Lynn Hale; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, April 19, 2004, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, with Rev. Don Mosley officiating. Burial followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Ft. Roots, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114, or to American Cancer Society, 901 North University, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.

J.C. Brown Sr.
J.C. Brown Sr., 64, of Sherwood, former owner and operator of J.C. Brown Service Co., died Sunday, April 18, 2004.

He was a member of Local 155 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and a member of Park View Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Frankie Reddin Brown of Sherwood; two sons, John C. Brown Jr. and Gordon Jason Brown of Little Rock; one daughter, Vicki Brown Morgan of Sherwood; one sister, Brenda Hogan of Ft. Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 21, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with entombment at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

William J. Hartmeier
William J. “B.G.” Hartmeier, 74, of North Little Rock died April 18, 2004.
He was a retired Marine Major who served his country in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge #942.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pat Hartmeier; son, Eddie Hartmeier of North Little Rock and daughter, Nancy Loney and husband Byron of Sherwood, brother, Thomas Hartmeier of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday, April 20, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. The interment was at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills cemetery.

Donations may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Rd., North Little Rock.

Katherine L. Davis

Katherine Lynch Davis, 69, of England, died Sunday, April 18, 2004.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was retired from Maybelline Cosmetics, where she worked for 15 years.

Survivors are her husband, Bob Davis, England; five sons, David Lynch, Sherwood, Danny Lynch, Scott, Michael Davis, Pasadena, Texas, Robert Davis, Shreveport, La., and Daniel Davis, Ft. Worth, Texas: two daughters, Gayla Crook, North Little Rock, and Michelle Shinault, Frierson, La.; one brother, Billy Corley, White Hall; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday at Roller-England Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Mulberry cemetery.

Roger Keathley
Roger Lloyd Keathley, age 65, of Des Arc died Tuesday. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Faye Keathley; two sons, Chris Keathley of Little Rock and Michael Keathley of Jacksonville; one brother, Rowen T. Keathley of Sherwood; two sisters, Keleta Livesay of Griffithville, Mary Jean Alford of Cabot; and three grandchildren. Services were Thursday at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Lakeside cemetery by Garth Funeral Home.

James Harmon
James Robert Harmon, 84, of North Little Rock, died Thursday, April 15, 2004. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Dymple Harmon of North Little Rock; a brother, Vernon Harmon of Little Rock; a daughter, Sharon Matte of Irving, Texas; four sons, Bob Harmon of Sherwood, Randy Harmon of North Little Rock, C.V. Ford of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Jerry Ford of Cleburne, Texas; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Graveside service was April 19, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock. The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, Ark., 72211.

Evangeline O. Lewis
Evangeline O’Dell Lewis, 86, a long-time resident of the Buena Vista community and Ouachita County, died April 13, 2004. She was a member of Buena Vista United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Van O’Dell of North Little Rock; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to Buena Vista United Methodist in Buena Vista, Ark. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, at Buena Vista United Methodist Church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

R.C. Ingram

R.C. Ingram, age 70, of Sherwood died Thursday, April 15, 2004. He was a plumbing contractor and a member of the Home Builders Association, and Army National Guard. He is survived by one son, David Ingram; and one daughter, Beth McReynolds; three brothers, Bob, Doyce and John Ingram; and one sister, Rose Ward; and four grandchildren. Funeral service was April 17, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Edgewood Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 6101 St. Vincent Circle, Little Rock, Ark. 72205.

Jessie Lee Hall

Jessie Lee Hall, 58, of Sherwood, died April 13, 2004. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Webb, Barbara Williams and Patricia Clarks; grandmother, Gladys Smith; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Henry Williams, David Smith, Dwayne Williams, Michael Cornice; five sisters, Rosie Williams, Rosetta Spencer, Lois Williams, Gloria McPhearson, and Lisa Williams. Funeral services were April 17, at Paradise Baptist Church, North Little Rock. Services entrusted to Families First Funeral Home, Little Rock.

Damon Royce

Damon Vernerd Royce, age 85, of Little Rock died April 14, 2004. He was a retired director of research with Reynolds Aluminum. He was a Presbyterian Elder, and he was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Janet Willard Royce; his son, David Willard Royce of Granby, Mo.; two daughters, Shirley Royce Irby of Sherwood, Wendy Gail Turner of Eureka Springs; his sister, Marjorie Hill of Broomfield, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Memorial service was held at Presbyterian Village on Friday, April 16.

J.V. Satterfield
J.V. Satterfield, 75, of Swifton, died Jan. 28, 2005, at Newport.

He was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Vell Birmingham Satterfield; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Linvell Satterfield; two daughters, Claudia Coe, Tuckerman, and Lavonne Templeton, Swifton; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home with David Decker officiating. Burial was in Arnold cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brandon Martin, Michael Hamilton, Gary Stevens, Brad Beard, Chris Smiltnicks, Odean Templeton and Benny Martin. Jack Gray served as honorary pallbearer.
