Myrtle Mae Dowler
HOOKER -- Myrtle Mae Dowler, 77, of Hooker died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at her residence.
Born Nov. 18, 1928, in Hooker, Mrs. Dowler was a homemaker and a member of the Gainesville Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Karen Dowler of Hooker, Ronnie and Donna Dowler of Mabelvale, Gary and Brenda Dowler of Hooker; five daughters, Annette Chunn of Paragould, Carol Kibler of Halliday, Belinda Dowler, Vickie Finley, Toni Rouse; and husband, Stanley, all of Hooker. She is also survived by one sister, Verta Rae Bennett of Pocahontas; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dowler was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Gladys Askins; her husband, Tony Dowler; two sons, Tony Dewayne and Ricky David; one daughter, Glenda Gale; and by two sisters, Wanda Franklin and Freda Fay Askins.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Chad Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Gretchen Fees
CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- Gretchen Marie Fees, 78, of Cherokee Village passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Fees was born on Dec. 11, 1926, in Polk County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Gabbert and Nellie Kile Gabbert. She was united in marriage to Cecil Fees on May 9, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2005.
Mrs. Fees has no immediate survivors.
A visitation will be held 5-6 p.m. Saturday at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday in Polk City Cemetery
at Polk City, Iowa.
Alpha Rogers French
HARDY -- Mrs. Alpha Wilma Rogers French, age 94, of Hardy died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Fulton County Hospital at Salem.
Mrs. French was a homemaker, a farmer and a charter member of Saddle Baptist Church and was the daughter of the late John Rogers and the late Kate Davis Rogers.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jean Evans of Hardy, and three sons, Billy Joe French of Cherokee Village, Kenneth French of Agnos and Max French of Cave City.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Less French, one grandson, two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Heath Oak Hill Chapel with the Rev. O. C. Wright officiating. Interment will be in French Family Cemetery
at Cherokee Village.
Johnny C. Jeffrey
WYNNE -- Johnny C. Jeffrey, 78, of Wynne died Friday, Nov. 25.
He is survived by son, Corey Robinson of Jonesboro; daughter, Kimberly Robinson of Jonesboro; sisters, Essie Mae Long of Wynne and Mary Ella Huggins of Memphis; brother, Clarence Jeffrey of Wynne; and four grandchildren.
Services will be noon Saturday at Jones Temple Church of God in Christ at Wynne with Alvin Coleman Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Wynne Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Woodard Funeral Service in Wynne.
Woodard Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Raymond King
CAVE CITY -- Raymond J. King, 73, of Cave City died Wednesday, Nov. 30, at a Little Rock hospital.
He was born March 27, 1932, at Cave City to Russell D. and Ester Leona West King. He had worked for Boeing Corporation in Wichita, Kan., the Sharp County Road Department and was a member of the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church at Nelsonville.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City. Burial is at Mt. View Cemetery, east of Cave City.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
June Koorstad
HARDY -- June Shaver Koorstad, 94, of Hardy died Wednesday.
She was a Christian, a librarian, a member of Hardy Church of Christ and Sharp County Historical Society.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Bob and Mary Koorstad; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents Ed and Hassie Shaver; brother, Bill Shaver; and sister, Maude White.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday in Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland with Johnny Carter officiating. Burial is in Baker Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pauline Sloan
TRUMANN -- Mrs. Pauline Sloan, 87, of Trumann died Wednesday afternoon at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro of natural causes.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.
Terry L. Vaughn
PIGGOTT -- Terry L. Vaughn, 53, of Piggott passed away Wednesday in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born March 9, 1952, the son of the late James and Frances Kirk Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; sons, Shannon and Shane Smart; four grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor, Ericka and Aaren; two brothers, Harlan Vaughn of Pollard and Curtis Vaughn of Troy, Mo.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m Friday in the Cummins Chapel Cemetery
at Pollard.
Visitation is 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Arrangements are being handled by Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott.
Jerry Thomas Williams
PARAGOULD -- Jerry Thomas Williams, 54, of Paragould died Wednesday.
He was born Feb. 21, 1951, son of Tomazene and the late Weldon Williams.
Survivors include mother, Tomazene Williams, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by brother Gary Williams and grandparents, P.W. and Ella Williams, and Troy and Bertha Bryant.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery
with the Rev. Marion Gramling officiating. Procession will leave Heath Funeral Home at 12:45 p.m.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home.
George M. Akers
FAIRHOPE, Ala. -- George M. Akers, 67, of Fairhope died Saturday, Dec. 3, at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Akers of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Hines of Fairhope; a daughter-in-law, Diane Akers of Fairhope; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; and seven sisters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Danny.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope. Burial will be in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
