Jean C. Norwood, age 81, of New Orleans, Louisiana died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at St. Annas Nursing Home in New Orleans. She was born August 9, 1923. Mrs. Norwood was a retired nurse and a Methodist.

She is survived by: one daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Dr. E.E. Rodriquez of New Orleans, LA; three grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Lakeside cemetery in Stamps, AR with Rev. Michael Gordon officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.

Lillian P. Campbell Clark Davis

Lillian P. Campbell Clark Davis, age 83, of Emmet, Arkansas died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at The Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Arkansas. She was born January 11, 1922 in Lewisville, Arkansas. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. she was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent her life working hard in and outside of the home to support her family. She was preceded in death by: her husband Dale Willis Clark; her parents; four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by: six sons, George Clark of Pittsburg, TX, Jerry Clark of Sheridan, AR, Roy Clark of Hope, AR, Jim Clark of Nashville, TN, Coy Clark of Emmet, and Tommy Davis of Bodcaw, AR; five daughters, Martha Raines of Cale, AR, Shirley Martin of Cale, Judy Thompson of Stamps, AR, Joy Humphres of Emmet, and Peggy Martin of Prescott, AR; thirty-nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several great-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Patrick Fulmer officiating and burial in Union cemetery at Bodcaw, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Harold Lee Cummings

Harold Lee Cummings, age 78, of Buckner, Arkansas died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born August 2, 1926 in the Mt. Pleasant Community in Lafayette County, Arkansas. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator, a retired owner of Harold's Chain Saw Service, co-owner of C&C; Trucking & Equipment, Inc. and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Cummings was a Mason and a member of the American Legion and a Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Cummings and Ethel Hendrix Cummings.

Survivors include: his wife, Claudia "Doodle" Cummings of Buckner; two daughters & sons-in-law, Mary Lee & Jerry Cox of Buckner and Penny & Jerry Plafcan of Stamps, AR; five grandchildren, Camille & Jeff Barton of Buckner, Stacy & Terry Vansickle of Village, AR, Alex, Rachel, & Austin Plafcan all of Stamps; four great grandchildren, Brittany & Jonathon Barton of Buckner, Ashley, Scott & Cole Vansickle of Village.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Bro. Charlie Warren officiating and burial in the Lakeside cemetery.

Helen M. Guffey

Helen M. Guffey, age 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Promise Hospital in Shreveport. She was born November 2, 1921 in Rivana, Arkansas. She was a Baptist. Mrs. Guffey was preceded in death by her parents, William & Exia Arnold and her husband, Junior Guffey.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jo Ann Mobley of Blanchard, LA; one grandchild, James T. Stone of Shreveport; four great granddaughters, Amanda L. Stone, Heather S. McIntyre, Heidi S. Humphrey & Jessica R. Stone; two great-great grandsons, Tristan Humphrey & Logan Humphrey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Red River Baptist Church at Bradley, Arkansas with Rev. C.I. Johnson, Jr. officiating and burial in the Walnut Hill cemetery.

Betty Lou Morehead

Betty Lou Morehead, age 67, of Buckner, Arkansas died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Arkansas. She was born January 17, 1938 in Waldo, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Watkins & Gladys Wreyford. Mrs. Morehead was a member of the Buckner Methodist Church. She was a beautician operator for many years in Buckner.

Survivors include: her husband, Arthur B. Morehead of Buckner; one son, Michael Lynn Morehead of Buckner; four daughters, Rhonda Carol & Jerry Dyer of Bossier City, LA, Karen Beth & John Ed Dorman of Bodcaw, AR, Michelle Raye Zeigler of Jacksonville, NC and Sharon Gayle & Steve Taylor of Emmet, AR; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. David Watkins and Rev. Charles Walthall officiating with burial in the Shiloh Lamartine cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Rev. Kenneth Tatum

Rev. Kenneth Tatum, age 76, of Buckner, Arkansas died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born January 31, 1929 in Buckner. Mr. Tatum was an employee of the A.O. Smith Funeral Home of Lewisville, Arkansas. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Stamps, Arkansas, a retired Baptist Minister having pastored in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma over a 50 year period. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Tatum and Ora Teague Tatum, and a brother, W.F. Tatum.

He is survived by: his wife, Dean Chastain Tatum of Buckner; one daughter & son-in-law, Rolonda & Steve Watkins of Broken Arrow, OK; one brother, Billy Joe Tatum of Springhill, LA; one grandson, Christopher Watkins of Broken Arrow; several cousins & other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Bertis Williams, Rev. Perry Purtle and Rev. Charlie Warren officiating and burial in the Wilson cemetery at Lewisville.

Lilyan "Lill" Walthall

Lilyan "Lill" Walthall, age 88, of Waldo, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Arkansas. She was born on November 23, 1916 near Buckner in Lafayette County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Jesse E. and Allie Mae Shurtleff Walthall. Miss Walthall owned and operated the Modern Beauty Shop in Waldo for over 55 years, working many of those years alongside her friend Clarice Cloud. She also held down a second job, working at Firestone in Magnolia for 13 years. She was interested in genealogy and traced the Walthall family back to William Walthall of London, England who settled in Virginia prior to 1656. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Columbia Memorial Chapter 1374 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo.

She was preceded in death by: five brothers, Horace, Dalton, Melbourne, O.C. "Johnny" and Ronald Earl "Pete" Walthall; one sister, Victoria Walthall Osbourne; four sisters-in-law, Louise Russell Walthall, Mildred Tubb Walthall, Burtaline Sellers Walthall, and Rexine Hollensworth Walthall.

Survivors include: three brothers, Norris Walthall of N. Little Rock, AR, Henry "Sonny" Walthall of Waldo, and Edward "Buddy" Walthall of Camden; three sisters-in-law, Selma Reeves Walthall of Lebanon, MO, Silvia Story Walthall of Waldo, and Louise Page Walthall of Little Rock, AR; 30 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; friend and co-worker Clarice Cloud; a host of friends, relatives and customers.

Graveside services will be held at the Waldo cemetery on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Walthall and Rev. Williams officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.

Margaret Ratcliff

Margaret Ratcliff, age 74, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born September 4, 1930 in Bradley, Arkansas. Mrs. Ratcliff was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Edna Brewster; two sons, Joe Belk, Jr. and Henry Belk; and by a daughter, Dorothy Mucklevane. Mrs. Ratcliff was a Baptist.

She is survived by: her husband, Robert Ratcliff of Lewisville; one son, Richard L. Belk of Stamps, AR; one sister, Onie Mae Davis of Stamps; five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Wilson cemetery in Lewisville with the Rev. Russell Bailey officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Lucille Shackelford

Lucille Shackelford, age 86, of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Magnolia City Hospital. She was born October 17, 1918 in Smackover, Arkansas to the late Hensley and Nell Bell (Blake) Warren. She was a quilter for Alan White Company, an assistant for Dr. Scurlock for over 30 years, a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Waldo, Arkansas, and a member of the Stamps Eastern Star #415. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Hamp Shackelford.

She is survived by: her son, Billy Shackelford and wife Jeanette, of Stamps, AR; daughter, Betty Nell Collier of Magnolia; brother, W.E. Warren of Norphlet, AR; three sisters, Earlene Warren of El Dorado, AR, Virginia Bobo and husband J.W of Hot Springs, AR, and Dollie Maleszyk of Michigan; three brothers, Ron Warren, Don Warren and wife Bay, and Raymond Warren, all of Lake Village, AR; grandchildren, Kenneth Shackelford, Jerry Ray Shackelford, and Jay Collier; great grandchildren, Brittany Ray Shackelford, Magann Ray Shackelford, Tyler Collier and Jaycie Collier.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Shiloh cemetery with Bro. Mike Turner officiating.

Bernice Nolte Wise

Bernice Nolte Wise, age 80, of Houston, Texas formerly of Taylor, Arkansas and Springhill, Louisiana, died Monday, February 21, 2005 in Houston. She was born March 11, 1924 in Lewisville, Arkansas. Mrs. Wise was a Baptist and retired from Continental Insurance as an automation technician. She was preceded in death by: her husband, John Walker Wise; son, Johnny Merrill Wise; parents, Ada & Willie Nolte; and sister, Helen Shively.

She is survived by: two sons & daughters-in-law, Gary & Nancy Wise of Houston and Michael & Diane Wise of Roseville, CA; brother, Cecil Nolte of Walker Creek, AR; seven grandchildren, Mark Wise, Cindy & husband Roger Johnson, Troy Wise, Michael & wife Shea Wise, Neisa Wise, Bogan Wise, and Matthew & wife Olivia Wise; four great grandchildren, Jackie Johnson, Josie Johnson, Julian Wise and Jack Wise.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Springhill, LA with burial in The Forest Grove cemetery at Walker Creek, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Taylor, AR.

Henry Boyer Blunt

Henry Boyer Blunt, age 84, of Gainesville, Florida died Thursday, February 24, 2005 in Gainesville. He was born August 11, 1920 in Bradley, Arkansas. Mr. Blunt was a retired Farmer and Cattleman and a member of The Bradley Baptist Church.

He is survived by: his wife, Lois Blunt of Gainesville; daughter Gloria Woods Tobey of Gainesville; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 28, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Bradley with burial in Walnut Hill cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.

Pauline Ratcliff

Edna Pauline Alsobrook Gladney Ratcliff, age 85, of Stamps, Arkansas died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at The Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born January 2, 1929 in Cale, Arkansas to the late Edgar and Zula May Godley Alsobrook. Mrs. Ratcliff worked many years as a Nurse at The Prescott Hospital, Magnolia Hospital and Magnolia Clinic. She was a member of The Stamps Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by: her husband, Jake Ratcliff; two great grandchildren, Reagan and Landon Belk; two sisters, Patty Jane Samuelson and Lois Bright; and by a brother, Elwood DaWoody. Pauline held God, Family and Honor above all else. She will be forever remembered.

She is survived by: two daughters, Linda Jones and Bobbie Genell Barham, both of Stamps; granddaughter, Rhonda Staggs & husband Michael of Stamps; great grandchildren, Colton and Dawson Belk and Austin and Adam Staggs; sister Lillian Langston of Searcy, AR; brother Thomas Alsobrook of Oklahoma; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends whose lives she has touched.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Petie Ward officiating and burial in Lakeside cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.

Jessie Lynn Coe

Jessie Lynn Coe, loving husband, endearing father and wonderful friend passed away on Saturday, Feb 26, 2005 Jessie Lynn was born on Feb 6, 1934 in Texarkana, TX, the son of Rueben Lynn and Dicie Mae. J. Lynn grew up in Stamps, AR and has resided in Pearland, TX since 1973. Lynn retired from the Oil Industry in 1990 and over the years became a wonderful friend to many throughout Texas, Louisiana and many other surrounding states. Lynn had a passionate zeal and love for God, the church, his grandkids and his spiritual calling as a prison minister. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Jean Coe, his 5 children, Jalyn Baker of Broken Arrow, Ok; Jeff Coe of Pearland, TX; Julie Lipp of Murphy, TX; Jodi Briand of Pearland, TX; and John Coe of Harahan, LA; brother, Jack Coe of Lewisville, AR; and sister, Juanita Hickman of Stamps, AR. He also leaves behind 12 beautiful grandchildren - the light of his life and many, many beloved family members and very close friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 1 at the Pearland Church of Christ on N. Grand Blvd. His presence, his smile, his hugs and encouraging words will be missed dearly. We love you Dad - we'll see you in heaven.

Norvelle Cooper

Norvelle Cooper, age 98, of Lewisville, Arkansas died on February 9, 2005 at a Texarkana hospital. He was born August 16, 1906 at Lumber, Arkansas and attended Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Lewisville.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Lewisville with Rev. Imond Washington officiating. Interment was in Old Town cemetery in Lewisville.

Funeral services were scheduled to be held at Oak Grove Church in Florence, Alabama.
