Wesley Cole Rowe

Wesley Cole Rowe, 65, of Sherwood died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006.

He is survived by his mother, Zora Belle Rowe of Sherwood; brothers Joe Rowe of Floyd and Ernest Lee Rowe of Brazil, Ind.; and sister Dorcas Adams and husband Ronald of North Little Rock.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Huson Funeral Home chapel in Sherwood. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Herschel R. Peach

Herschel Ray Peach, 70, of Sherwood died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006. He was a retired Air Force master sergeant, a former member of the Sherwood Moose Lodge, and was employed by Falcon Jet for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Peach of Sherwood; sons Rodney Peach of Sherwood, and Bradley Peach and wife Mona of Vilonia; daughter Deanna Peach of North Little Rock; brothers Bill of Arizona, Larry of Kentucky, and Ed Peach of North Carolina; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 18, at the North Little Rock Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock or Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

John A. May

John A. May, of Little Rock, 71, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2006. He retired after 21 years from Affiliated Foods and attended The Church at Rock Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lena Mae May, brother Joe May of North Little Rock, and a special son, Jim Adams of Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Futrell May; children John M. May and wife Anna of Sherwood, Tim May and wife Christie of Germantown, Tenn., and Jeff May of Little Rock; brother David May of The Village, Fla.; sister-in-law Margie May of North Little Rock; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 18, at the North Little Rock Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Ruby K. Breeding

Ruby K. Breeding, 98, of Conway, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006. She was a homemaker, former manager of the Conway Goodwill Store, and a member of the Robinson and Center Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Marion E. Breeding, parents Burney and Lovie Smith Garrett, son-in-law Delton Stroud, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by daughters Mabel Stroud of Little Rock, and Betty Spears and husband Virgil “Tick” of Russellville; grandchildren Larry Stroud of Sherwood and three others; 16 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 17, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Interment followed at Crestlawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Home Care of Conway, 821 A. North Creek Drive, Conway, Ark., 72032.

Arrangements were by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Billie E. O’Bryant

Billie E. O’Bryant, 76, of Sherwood died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006. He attended Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, served in the U.S. Army for more than 23 years, and worked for Arkansas State Health Services for 23 years before retiring in 1996.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George O’Bryant and Nellie (Monday) O’Bryant.

He is survived by his children, Germaine Hardin and husband David of North Little Rock, Jeanette Glancy and husband Tim of Little Rock, and Carmen Ardvidson and husband John of Alpharetta, Ga.; brothers Sharlon and wife Kathryn of Pine Bluff, Donald and wife Beaulah of Hollis, N.H., and Bobby O’Bryant and wife Jean of Columbus, Ga.; sister Linda Hissong and husband Wayne of Columbia, Tenn.; six grandchildren; his companion of more than 25 years Bobbie Countryman of North Little Rock; and ex-wife and mother to their children Helene Palmer of Elkhart, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills chapel in North Little Rock. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Michael Walker III
Mariah Walker

Michael Walker III and Mariah Walker, infant twins, of Sherwood died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006.

They are survived by their parents Michael and Shaquita Walker; and sister Sa’Niah.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Riverwood Memorial Gardens by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, Temple Baptist Church in Bald Knob.

The family requests that memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church.
Arrangements were by Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia.

Floyd C. Scroggin

Floyd Cecil (Jack) Scroggin, 82, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., formerly of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006. He was in the Coast Guard, was in law enforcement and retired from the Arkansas State Police. He was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Hot Springs.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Haywood Scroggin; daughter Jacqueline Sue Scholine and husband Leon of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; step-daughter Dona Freeman and husband Bill of Katy, Texas; step-son Dwayne Lansdowne and wife Jan of Hot Springs; sisters Pauline Short of Wichita, Kan., Thelma Gene Hatcher of Highlands, Texas, and Rosemary Martin of Sherwood; brothers Robert William Scroggin of Tampa, Florida, and James Paul Scroggin of Little Rock; and step-mother Maggie Howe Scroggin of Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by his first-wife Mary Lois Scroggin and son Robert Stephen Scroggin.

The funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 2, at Gross Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Crestview cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas State Police Memorial Fund or Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 West Markham St., Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205-1409.

John M. Walter

John M. Walter, 42, of North Little Rock died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jamey Walter.

Survivors in include his mother Joyce Lybrand and husband Jim of Sherwood; and sisters Telela Grissom and husband, Jerry of Conway, Rhonda Walter-Myers of North Little Rock, and Melissa Long and husband Charles of Cabot.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment followed in Sumner cemetery.

Arrangements were by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Harry Orr

Harry Orr, 59, of Sherwood died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father Henry Orr.

He is survived by his wife Regina Orr; daughters Lisa Orr of Little Rock, and Cicely Orr of Sherwood; brother Mark Orr of Tulsa, Okla.; and mother Gene Orr of Clinton, Miss.
A memorial service was held Monday, Oct. 2, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. Burial was in Carthage, Miss.

Eleanor R. Pohl

Eleanor R. “Nellie” Pohl, 87, of Stillwater, Okla. died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006. She had a bachelor’s of science in physics, was a housewife and an award winning Girl Scout leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, brother and sister.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Douglas Pohl of Milledgeville, Ga., Patricia Langdon of Leechburg, Pa., Elaine Oltmans of Stillwater, Okla., Charles Pohl of Sherwood, and William Pohl of Milledgeville, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 24, 3 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Stillwater.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

Oscar Finch, Sr.

Oscar Finch, Sr., 87, of Sherwood died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills. Entombment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Melissa L. Jordan

Melissa L. “Missy” Jordan, 39, of North Little Rock went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, succumbing to heart failure after a long battle with pulmonary disease.

She was born March 19, 1967. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock before pursuing a career helping others as a social worker. She also attended the graduate screenwriting program at Loyola Maramount University in Los Angeles and worked in television production for Twentieth Century Fox. She will be remembered for her generous heart and infectious smile.

She is survived by her parents, Chris and Diana Jordan of Sherwood; two brothers, Skylar Jordan of Little Rock and Dr. Jay Jordan of Searcy; sister-in-1aw Angie Jordan; two nephews, William and John; a special friend, Karen Hughes; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117, 501-835-3515. Visitation will be Thursday, August 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., also at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Virginia Christian

Virginia Rupprecht Christian, 87, of Little Rock died Sunday, July 23, 2006. She had worked in New York as a fashion buyer and was a longtime member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, John Douglas Christian Jr., and Lee-Ann and Mitch Jansonius, all of Little Rock; grandchildren Becca Harrell of Sherwood and two other granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 29.

The family requests that memorials be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist or the Arkansas Food Bank Network.

Richard Cannady

Richard Marquis Cannady, 24, of Washington, D.C., died Wednesday, July 19, 2006.
He is survived by his parents, Diana Howard and Richard Cannady; sisters Staff Sgt. Tiffany Howard, stationed in South Korea, and Shoneree Cannady of Sherwood; and brother Brandon Cannady of Pine Bluff.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, at Palarm Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Mayflower. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pine Bluff.
Arrangements were by Watson-Northcrest Funeral Home.

William F. Rountree

William Franklin Rountree, 73, of Sherwood died Thursday, July 27, 2006. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Janie Ruth, parents Earl Wayne and Mable Rountree, and brothers Earl Wayne II and Pat Rountree.

He is survived by son Brad Rountree and wife Rhonda of Mesquite, Texas; daughter Linda Gail Smith and husband David of Maumelle, and Doug Rountree and wife Jayne Ann of Hot Springs; and grandchildren Timothy Rountree of Mesquite, Joshua Smith of Maumelle, and Elizabeth, John, and Sarah Rountree of Hot Springs.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 31, at Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Interment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.
