John Robert Hiller, 63, of Sherwood, died December 29, 2005. He was a salesman, and is survived by a sister.

No services are planned. Cremation arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home.

Irene Lea Altwegg

Irene Lea Rosenbalm Altwegg, 98, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 26, 2005.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of North Little Rock. Her grandparents were one of the first families to move into the Sylvan Hills area in Sherwood.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. Calnan of Rogers; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Flora Mae Whitlock, Mary Ellen Gibson, Geraldine Poe; and brother, William Poe of Cabot.

Memorials may be made to “Circle of Life” Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Organization.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Sat., Jan. 7, 2006, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri., Jan. 6, at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main.

Agnes Davis

Agnes Davis, 94, of Sherwood, died Dec. 30, 2005. She was a member of Cherrywood Baptist Church in Sherwood.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Bailey of North Little Rock; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Cherrywood Baptist Church, 2300 E. Lee Ave., Sherwood, Ark. 72120.

Funeral services were held Jan. 3 at the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Keith J. Boaz

Keith J. Boaz, 58, of Roanoke, died Dec. 30, 2005. He graduated from Jacksonville High School, served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was co-owner of the Andrew Joseph Company where he was currently working.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Boaz of Roanoke; son, John “Gus” Boaz of Parker, TX; stepson, Brad Lawrence of Sherwood; stepdaughter, Heather Perez of Roanoke; mother, Lois V. Boaz, of Sherwood; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Mike, Robert, Bill and Chuck Boaz.

Funeral services were held Jan. 3 at J.E. Foust & Son Memorial Chapel in Grapevine. Arrangements were by J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, Grapevine.

William Burnham, Jr.

William Elwood Burnham, Jr., 81, of Pine Bluff, died Jan. 3, 2006.
He served in the Army during World War II and owned the Burnham News Agency and started an early retirement in 1981 taking many trips to Europe. His later travels were made mostly by auto in the United States.

He is survived by his wife, Rena Jo Burnham of Pine Bluff; son, Dr. William Kirk Riley of Sherwood; daughter, Lisa Riley Esposito of Little Rock; three grandchildren; brother Jack Kerr of El Dorado; and sister Melvina Adaline Kerr of San Diego, CA.

The family will celebrate his life at a graveyard service at a time to be determined.

Carmen Edgar Linn

Carmen Edgar Linn, 80, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 31, 2005. He was retired from a career in the metals business. He ran a Metal and Supply in Birmingham, Ala., and North Little Rock, before his retirement. He was a longtime member of Park Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary ‘LaFern’ (Mc-Cutcheon) Linn, formerly of England; daughters, Diane Mayer of Sherwood, and DeLinda Harrington of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 4 at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Burial followed at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills cemetery in North Little Rock.
Memorials can be made to the Park Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 East C Street in North Little Rock.

Robert M. Johns

Robert Michael Johns, 45, of Austin, died Oct. 5, 2005. He was employed by Conestoga Wood Specialties for the past 20 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Casie Lynn Johns of Austin; brothers, Mark Johns of Hamburg; David of Sherwood; and sister, Amy Brewer of North Little Rock.
Funeral services were held Oct. 8, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Hospice at 5600 W. 12th, Little Rock, Ark. 72204 or CARTI at 3401 Springhill, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117.

Myrtylla Felgate

Myrtylla “Babe” Felgate, 83, of North Little Rock, formerly of Festus, MO, died Oct. 5, 2005.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Sherwood.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Felgate of North Little Rock; daughters, Gerri Much of North Little Rock, and Sherree Faries of Festus, MO; sons, Wayne Felgate of DeLand, FL, and Don Felgate of Hot Springs; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Oct. 10 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel. Entombment at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 901 North University, Little Rock, Ark. 72203.

Gustav M. Dupslaff

Gustav Martin Dupslaff, 85, of Sherwood died Oct. 6, 2005. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1979. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in North Little Rock.

He is survived by his sons Michael Dupslaff of Sherwood, and Martin Dupslaff of Pittsburg, KS.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 10, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills. Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Little Rock.

Entombment followed at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Memorials be given to Lutheran High School, Little Rock, general scholarship fund or Concordia Seminary Adopt-A-Student Program, 801 DeMun Ave., Clayton, Mo., 63105.

Jo Ann Haynie

Jo Ann Haynie, 72, of Sherwood, died Oct. 8, 2005. She was a member of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church of Fairfield Bay, and formerly a member of the First Presbyterian Church, North Little Rock, where she was an ordained deacon.

She is survived by her husband, C.B. Haynie; son, John Carl Haynie of Roland; daughter, Beth Haynie Spears of Fayetteville; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services were held Oct. 12 at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by the Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 250 Dave Creek Pkwy., Fairfield Bay, Ark.

James P. Jones

James P. “Jimmy” Jones, 68, of Arkadelphia died Oct. 9, 2005. He was a retired employee of the Arkansas Dept. of Health and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty Marie Jones; son, Jon Paul Jones of Sherwood; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Oct. 11 in the Third Street Baptist Church. Interment in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Third Street Baptist Church.

Stella L. Frazier

Stella Louise Frazier, 87, of Vilonia, died Oct. 8, 2005. She was a homemaker and member of Briarwood Baptist Church in Cabot.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Frazier of Sherwood, James Frazier of Austin, and Johnny Frazier of Vilonia; daughters, Joyce Quick of Portageville and Janet Milan of Clare, MI; brother, Jack Richardson of Houston, TX; sister, Glodine Barham of Apple Valley, MN; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wed., Oct. 12, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with burial following at Cypress Valley cemetery in Vilonia.

Jessie Lee King

Jessie Lee King, 68, of North Little Rock, died Oct. 8, 2005.
Survivors include her sons, Osker Williams of Lonoke, Maceo Michael King of North Little Rock, and Barry King of Maumelle; daughters, Worthy Scruggs, Annette King, Brenda King of North Little Rock, and Lucille Turner of Sherwood; sister, Naomi Murray; brother, Willie Carroll, both of Little Rock; 21 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

Family hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 14, at the Robinson Mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 15, at the Paradise Baptist Church, Dixie by Pastor Lloyd Summons.

Jesse L. Mitchell

Jesse L. Mitchell, 69, of North Little Rock, died Fri., Oct. 7, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Mitchell; son, Freddie Keys; sister, Shirley Fitzpatrick; stepdaughters, Deloris Pierre, Frankie Woods, and Patricia Wilson of Little Rock, Rosetta Otuechere of Atlanta, GA, Annette Bobo of North Little Rock, Nina Williams of Naples, FL, and Dr. B. Gennice Perry of Sherwood; stepsons, Garry Nolan of El Paso, TX, and Chester Brown of North Little Rock; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thurs., Oct. 13, from 6-7 p.m., at the Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock. Funeral services will be held Fri., Oct. 14, at 1 p.m., at the Allison Presbyterian Church, 922 Wright Ave. in Little Rock.
Interment will be on Mon., Oct. 17, at 10 a.m., at the Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.

George Allen

George Allen, 75, Oklahoma City, OK, died Oct. 12, 2005.
He was an independent insurance agent and a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church.

Survivors include his sons, Rick and Danny Allen both of Sherwood; daughter, Robin Allen Harvilla of Oklahoma City; sister, Dorothy Von Kanel of Lexa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 4 p.m., on Oct. 13, at the Resurrection cemetery.

Mary E. Shoemaker

Mary Elizabeth Shoemaker, 65, of Little Rock, died Oct. 11, 2005. She was a retired school teacher after working many years in the Little Rock School District. She was a Methodist.

She is survived by her mother, Lourene Milloway of Arkadelphia; daughters, Pam Castor of Etowah, Teresa Shoemaker of Stillwater, OK, and Rhonda Calaway of White Hall; sisters, Ruth Hunt of Hot Springs, and Peggy Mitchell of Sherwood; brothers, Jimmy Milloway of Knoxville, and Joe Milloway of Redfield; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Oct. 15 at the Center Ridge cemetery in Gurdon.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road Northeast, Atlanta, Ga. 30329. Services were entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Sherroll G. Hooper

Sherroll Gordon “Jerry” Hooper, 68, of Sherwood, died Oct. 14, 2005. He was a retired police officer, starting his career in Sherwood, and becoming the first police chief at Camp Robinson. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Ann of the home; sons, Sherroll G. Hooper, Jr., of Spokane, WA, and Kenneth R. Hooper of Damascus; and sister, Eva Jo Kiddy of Clanton, AL; and six grandchildren.

A service was held Oct. 17 at the Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Treatment Center or a cancer treatment center of one’s choice.

Hal Robbins

Hal Robbins, 90, of North Little Rock, died Oct. 13, 2005.
He was a former principal of Conway High School, a position he held until 1964. He retired as assistant executive secretary of AEA, but continued to work with the organization on a part-time basis as well as working as an investigator for the Mitchell, Blackstock, Barnes, Wagoner, Ivers and Sneddon Law firm. He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry H. Robbins of Ann Arbor, MI, and Don Robbins, of Sherwood; and brother, Loyce Robbins of Benton.
Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at the Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock.

Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Park near Conway.
Memorials may be made to Jon Robbins Scholarship, Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 Rock Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72202, or Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72210.

James Cothern

James Cothern, 72, of Sherwood, died Oct. 15, 2005. He was retired after 23 years as maintenance supervisor for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, an army veteran and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Waltraud Graf Cothern of Sherwood; sons, Richard Cothern of Plumerville, and James F. Cothern Jr. of Little Rock; daughters, Sandra Wilson of Sherwood, and Pamela Wall of Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Oct. 18 at the Harris Chapel. Burial was at Robertsville cemetery near Jerusalem by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Scott A. Ceurvels

Scott Alexander Ceurvels, of Sherwood died Oct. 16, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Lynn Ceurvels of Sherwood; mother, Charlene “Ceurvels” Livezey of Jacksonville; and sister, Johnette Ceurvels of Jacksonville.
A funeral service was Wed., Oct. 19, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. John Lindsey officiating. Interment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
