Pauline Chunn Smith

PARAGOULD -- Mrs. Pauline A. Smith, 87, of Paragould died Saturday, Dec. 3, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born on July 11, 1918, in Paragould, she was the owner and operator of Pauline's Ceramics. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Jessie Hatcher; daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Carr of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Bettie Smith of Alexander City, Ala.; five grandchildren, Clifton and Steven Garmrath of Paragould, Suzanne Oswald, Robert and Jeremiah Smith of Ashville, Ala.; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Mary Chunn; husband, John C. Smith; son, Weldon Smith; and brother, George Chunn.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m., prior to the funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heath Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to East Side Baptist Senior Adults or St. Bernard's Hospice.

Zachery Heath Watkins

CONWAY -- Zachery Heath Watkins, age 23, of Conway, formerly of Cave City, died Saturday, Dec. 3, at North Little Rock.

He was born Aug. 12, 1982, in Batesville to Boyce and Becky (Marlin) Watkins. He was a student at UCA and a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City with Troy Henley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Powells Chapel Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

Visitation was held Tuesday.

Earl James Ensminger

BRIDGETOWN, Miss. -- Earl James Ensminger, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at his home.

He was a World War II veteran and retired from National Life Insurance Company. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Miss., where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by son John Stuart Ensminger; and daughter, Linda Kay Morris.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Neva Stuart Ensminger; three daughters, Penny Finley of Bartlett, Tenn., Susan McIntosh of Jonesboro and Tamara Lederman of Southaven, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, all of whom called him "Honey." He is also survived by three sisters, Evelyn Krumm of St. Paul, Minn., Mary Nance of Williamsburg, Mo., and Johnnie Traylor of McGehee.

A military funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4046 Pleasant Hill Road, Olive Branch. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.

William Edward Ferguson

WYNNE -- William Edward Ferguson, age 44, of Wynne died Monday, Dec. 5, at Cross Ridge Hospital in Wynne. He was employed by Arkansas Children's Hospital.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary C. Ferguson of Little Rock and seven sisters, Juanita Pruitt, Nellie Johnson and Gloria Aldridge, all of Wynne; Patricia F. Hinton and Marcia F. Stewart, both of Wheatley; Linda F. Collins of Fargo and Sharon Ferguson of Hinkley, Mo.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church with funeral services immediately following at the church. The Rev. Corter Stegall will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Woodard Funeral Service in Wynne.

Robert Gebhart

WALDENBURG -- Robert Harold Gebhart, 80, of Waldenburg died Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Grant, Neb., he was a retired crop duster and owner of Gebhart Tarp Company.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Gebhart of Fort Worth, Texas, and Roger Gebhart of Waldenburg; three daughters, Yolanda Bullard of Fort Worth, Kim Feuer of Fairfield and Bridget Hirshfield of Calabasas, Calif.; one sister, Betty Nash-Erb of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Arlie Stapleton Gebhart.

No services are planned. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.

Joann Householder

PIGGOTT -- Joann Householder, 65, of Piggott died Tuesday, Dec. 6. She was born Oct. 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Marshall and Beatrice Wilson Jackson.

She was preceded in death by one son, Biff.

She is survived by one daughter, Crystal Householder of Piggott; seven grandchildren, Nolan, Jason, Marshal, Thomas, Racheal, Rebecca and Eli; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bill Ivy officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers are grandsons.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today.

Anna Grace Phillips

FAYETTEVILLE -- Anna Grace Phillips, 94, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Dec. 4, at North Hills Life Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville.

Born Aug. 26, 1911 at Canton, Mo., she was the daughter of Claude August and Nettie Nell Freeman McDuffee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn M. Phillips.

She was a homemaker and was very involved in philanthropic projects during World War II and worked for the American Red Cross. She was a volunteer for nursing homes and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of University Baptist Church, where she was a member of Merry Hearts and was a Sunday School teacher.

She is survived by a son, Lynn Phillips Jr. of San Antonio; two daughters, Sylvia Johnston of Jonesboro and Judith Wooten of Fayetteville; a sister, Dora Gene Slagle of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Moore's Chapel with graveside services at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Mo., under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Dr. H.D. McCarty will officiate.

Memorials may be made to University Baptist Church, 333 West Maple St., Fayetteville 72701 or to any Christian charity.

Lucille Pohnka

WOODLAWN, Ill. -- Lucille "Lucy" Pohnka, 93, of Woodlawn, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Nature Trail Healthcare Center in Mount Vernon, Ill.

Born in Mississippi, she lived in Woodlawn for the past 35 years. She retired after teaching 30 years at Lincoln Grade School at Mount Vernon. She was a Methodist and attended Salem Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Andrew Taylor of Washington and Barksdale Taylor of Bald Knob; four sisters, Lois Conner of Tennessee, Alice Collins and Betty Collins, both of Missouri; and Olivette Stock of Arkansas; special friends, Vicki and Charles Walker Jr., Callie and Adam Foutch and son, Walker, and Amy Walker and Lacey and Chad Skinner, all of Woodlawn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Eugene Pohnka; her parents, Maut and Josie Herman Taylor; two brothers, Guy Taylor and Julian Taylor; and three sisters, Josie Tolley, Vivian Hollis and Annis Scruggs.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Vuncannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Dena Diann Rea

JONESBORO -- Dena Diann Rea, 40, of Jonesboro, formerly of Caraway, died Thursday, Dec. 8, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

She was born in Jonesboro, where she lived for the past five years. She was a painter and owner of D&D Painting Company. She was a member of Caraway First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Dustan Dewayne Rea of Jonesboro and Cody Shawn Rea of Caraway; her parents, Darrell and Helen Brewer Pearson of Caraway, and one brother, Douglas Dewayne Pearson of Lepanto.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Caraway First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Caraway Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dustan Rea, Timmy Brewer, Jeff Rea, Herbert Brewer, Otis Brewer and Charles Brewer.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Oleane Reese

JONESBORO -- Oleane Reese, 90, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday evening in St. Elizabeth's Place at Jonesboro.

Born in Tupelo, Miss., Mrs. Reese lived most of her life in Carson Lake near Wilson in Mississippi County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Reese; and two stepdaughters, Captola Curry and Nancy Radford.

The survivors include one son, Tommy Reese of Jonesboro; three daughters, Elizabeth Dresbach of Jonesboro, Bobbie Jean Shelton of Fenton, Mich., and Becky Cissell of Bassett; one sister, Mary Ruth Harris of Forrest City; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
