Rudy M. Schmidt
Rudy M. Schmidt, 81, of Sherwood, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002.
He was retired from Russell Chevrolet Company, a World War II veteran, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances (Zakrzewski) Schmidt; one daughter, Sharon Spencer of North Little Rock; one granddaughter; one step-granddaughter; two great-grandsons; one step-great-grandson; and one sister, Rose Stinson of North Little Rock.
Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116.

Cleo Virginia Tanzella
Cleo Virginia Hamilton Tanzella, age 88, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002.
She is survived by three children, Jack Mashburn of Marianna, Carol Habel of Sherwood, and Jim Mashburn of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with burial at National cemetery.

Margaret Schultz
Margaret Lucile “Muggy” Benson Schultz, age 44, of Jacksonville, died Feb. 23, 2002.
Survivors include her daughters, Eva and Sylvia Schultz of Jacksonville, Kim Schultz of North Little Rock; sons, Cecil and Jesse Schultz of Jacksonville; a granddaughter; mother, Betty Jean Benson of North Little Rock; brothers, Lonnie Wayne Benson and Larry Benson of North Little Rock; sisters, Peggy Jordan and Terri Moody of North Little Rock, and Barbara Thomas of Sherwood.
Funeral was Feb. 26, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock.

W.D. Walker
W.D. Walker of Sheridan, 66, died Feb. 23, 2002.
He was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, was retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal and was formerly with the Arkansas National Guard.
Survivors: wife, Betty Whitaker Walker of Sheridan; daughter and son, Jane and Ralph Williams of Sheridan; daughter, Tanya Michael of Sheridan; 1 granddaughter; father and stepmother, Wilburn and Clara Walker of Sheridan; brother, Romie Walker of Cabot.
Funeral services were Feb. 26, at the Buie Funeral Home Chapel at Sheridan. Burial was in the Lost Creek cemetery at Sheridan.

Gip Coffman
Gip Coffman, age 71, of Sherwood, died Friday at Arkansas Hospice In Home in North Little Rock.
He was a carpenter, a member of Carpenters Local 690, a member of the Moose Lodge in North Little Rock, and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; a son, Gary of Jacksonville; a daughter, Treva Roberts of North Little Rock; a brother, Elbert Coffman of Russellville; four sisters, Christine Trigg of Sherwood, Louise Tucker of Russellville, Wathina Williams of Atkins, and Vera Epperson of Morrilton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Feb. 25, at Shinn Chapel in Russellville, with burial in Tate cemetery near Appleton.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice In House, Building 66, Room 65, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, Ark.

Martha Anna Coulter
Martha Anna Theesen Coulter, age 86, of Sherwood, died Feb. 21, 2002.
She was a member of Levy United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband, John D. Coulter, Sherwood; son, Anthony J. Coulter of Burlington, Ky.; two daughters, Shirley M. Barr of North Little Rock and Marilyn A. Phillippy of Syracuse, Kan.; two sisters, Helen Grothen and Lavina Hoagland of Hastings, Neb.; and grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Levy Methodist Church with interment at Rest Hills Mausoleum.

Clara Bowen
Clara Mae Larkan Bowen died Feb. 22, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Bobbie F. Bowen; two sons, Larry Schafer and Joseph Thomas Schafer of Lonoke; and a daughter, Linda Allen of Sherwood; two brothers, Clarence Larkan and Troy Larkan, both of Lonoke, one sister, Norel Jameson of Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke, with interment in Lonoke cemetery.

James Hester
James Arthur Hester, 55, of Sherwood died Feb. 26, 2002.
He was an educator in the Hughes Public Schools, and worked at the Arkansas Department of Education. He was a member of Sylvan Hills UMC, a member of the Arkansas Ceramic Association, North Pulaski Retired Teachers, North Little Rock Shepherd Center, Arkansas Elementary School Council, Charlie Mae Simon Reading Committee, and associate director of North Central Association for Accreditation.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hester.
Memorials may be made to the Sylvan hills UMC, 9715 Reeves Ave., NLR 72120.
Funeral was Thursday at Sylvan Hills UMC, with burial in Sylvania cemetery.

June Barker-Brown
June Evelyn Barker-Brown, 44, of Sherwood died Feb. 23, 2002.
Survivors include her sons, Adrian and Jeremy, both of Sherwood; a daughter, Coutenay Ashley Brown of Sherwood; her mother, Lonez H. Barker of Early; sisters, Austria Coleman of Little Rock and Jacqueline Love of West Memphis.
Funeral was held at the Sylvan Hills High School Gymnasium by N.B. Carter Funeral Home, North Little Rock.

David Williamson
David Donald Williamson, age 57, of Sherwood died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He worked as an electrician for Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in Marshalltown, Iowa, for 24 years, then transferred to Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Brian Williamson; one daughter, Brandi Williamson; one sister, Muriel Wilson.
Memorial service was held Feb. 9, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jacksonville.
Cremation arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Monnie Bell White Bell
Monnie Bell White Bell, age 84, of Sherwood, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Bell of Sherwood; one son, Robert Bell of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Jackie Bell Irwin of Sherwood, Vicki Weatherford of Hot Springs, and Terri Swedenburg of West Little Rock; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was Monday, Feb. 11, in the Rest Hills Chapel. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander.
Donations may be made to the Willing Workers of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, 9008 Sylvan Hills Highway, Sherwood, Ark.

Alice Elnora Jones
Alice Elnora Jones, died Feb. 1, 2002.
She was a retired high school English teacher, having spent most of her career at Sylvan Hills High School.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Power of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Kathryn Gossien, of Little Rock, and Alyce Drewel of Springfield, Mo.; one son, Dan Jones of Camden; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A private service was held. Arrangements were by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Mo.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice of Southwest Missouri or to the donor’s choice.

Harry Lee Rogers
Harry Lee Rogers, 83, of North Little Rock died Feb. 8, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Paul Rogers of Edgewater, Colo.; daughters, Martha J. Thomas of Tinton Falls, N.J., Barbara A. Middleton of Sherwood, and Dr. Janet S. Rogers of Edinboro, Pa.; a brother, Herbert S. Rogers, of Gables, Fla.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield, Mo. Arrangements were by Cremation Association of Arkansas.

Terry LaSpina
Terry LaSpina, 51, of North Little Rock died Feb. 6, 2002.
She served 22 years in law enforcement with Sherwood, Camp Robinson and retired from Camp Robinson Public Safety.
She is survived by her husband, Mario Joseph LaSpina; children, Jody LaSpina, Bryan LaSpina, Sammy France, and Donnie Martin; three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Huson Funeral Home Chapel.
