Charles Mabern Adcock
Charles Mabern Adcock, age 66, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 27, 2002. He was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas later moving to Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, now Little Rock Central High School. He went on to graduate with a degree in Political Science, Languages and Literature from Arkansas Tech in Russellville. While in both high school and college he was a sports correspondent for the Arkansas Democrat. He also met and married
Dale Allen. After school they moved to Cherry Valley, Arkansas where Charlie coached and taught at the high school one year and in 1985 moved to Little Rock where he became the Sports Writer for the Arkansas Democrat until 1963 when he accepted the appointment of Commissioner of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference. In 1974 he resigned his commission to be come a general agent for the Shield of Shelter Insurance Company.
Charlie loved all sports and especially fishing, golf, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Dale Allen Adcock of Little Rock, his mother Fannie Sue Walker Adcock of Little Rock, one son Charles Allen Adcock of Little Rock, one daughter Michelle Place and husband Kirk of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one brother Danny Adcock and wife Helen of Bryant, Arkansas, one sister Sue Frueauff of Little Rock, and 3 grandchildren, Laura Place, and Courtney and Cody Adcock.
There will be a visitation Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Wednesday with a funeral service at the funeral home chapel at 1 P.M. Burial will be at the New Hope cemetery at 4 P.M. at New Hope, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Arkansas Rice Depot or a favorite charity.
L'Moore Fontaine Alford
L'Moore Fontaine Alford, teacher, artist, died Friday, October 18th, 2002. A Little Rock resident, she was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Dr. Thomas Dale and L'Moore Smith Alford. L'Moore graduated from Groveton High School in Alexandria, Virginia during her father's time representing Arkansas in the House of Representatives. While living in Washington she was named a Cherry Blossom Princess in 1960, and in 1961 was a Country Club of Little Rock Debutant as well as being selected to the prestigious National Debutant Register in Richmond, Virginia. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, later graduating from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with her degree in English. She taught first grade at the Cathedral School, Phillips Community College, and was once a teacher of art at the Arkansas Extended Learning Center. While living in California L'Moore studied art and acting from renounced teachers that included Agnes Moorehead, Marcel Marcau, Laurie Main and Natalie O'Hare. She performed at the U.A.L.R. theatre, and Little Rock's Community Theatre. She was owner of the Exquisite Paints doing faux finishes, and murals.
She is survived by one son Robert Wheat Goss, II and wife Robin of Minturn, Colorado, one daughter Elizabeth Fontaine Alford of Little Rock, one sister Anne Maury Alford Winanns of Little Rock and 2 grandchildren Pearl and Isabella Goss.
There will be a visitation at the Ruebel Funeral Home Sunday from 5 to 7P.M. followed by a funeral service Monday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at 11 A.M. officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson and The Reverend Canon R. Ewing Jackson. Burial will follow at Mount Holly cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Dolores C. Falk Baker
Dolores C. Falk Baker, age 81, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Peter and Bertha French Falk. Dolores was a published short story and poetry writer and once a member of the Writer's Club in Indiana. She lived in Indiana, and Northwest Arkansas before moving to Little Rock in 1974, to be with her daughter. She was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church.
She is survived by three daughters; Donna Mize, husband Billy of Little Rock, Bonnie Hawkins, Husband Charles of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dallas Baker of Southbend, Indiana, one brother Leonard Falk wife Alberta one sister Rita Treash all of Southbend, Indiana, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandhildren.
There will a memorial service Thursday, December 19, 2002 at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral.

Jack A. Barrier, Jr.
Jack A. Barrier, Jr. of Little Rock died August 7, 2002. He was born February 5, 1915 in Little Rock, the son of the late Jack and Camille Pearson Barrier.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Flora Fae "Flossie" Canant Barrier; sons John Michael Barrier and wife Phyllis of Alexandria, Virginia, and William Christopher Barrier and wife Nan Selz of Little Rock. He is also survived by granddaughters Catherine Emily Barrier and husband James Dugan of Los Angeles, California, and SevaPriya Sarah Barrier of Austin, Texas, and by his daughter-in-law, Emily C. Barrier of Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his brother William Maurice Barrier. Jack was a graduate of Little Rock High School. He was a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy during World War II in Jacksonville, Florida. His career in sales concentrated on automobiles and trucks, principally through his company, Little Rock White Sales and Service, but also included equipment, real estate, municipal bonds and wholesale flowers. He was an active member of Lions Club International, an avid golfer, a voracious reader and a loving grandfather. He retired early in 1982 from Block-Meeks Realty in order to spend more time with his granddaughters.
A memorial reception will be held at the Fletcher branch of the Central Arkansas Library, Buchanan and "H" Streets, at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14th. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Alvina Benish
Alvina Benish, age 92, of Little Rock, died Friday, November 29, 2002. She was born in Hazen, Arkansas later graduating from now Lyon's College in Batesville. Besides teaching school Alvina was a court stenographer and credit manager. She moved to Little Rock in the 50s. She is survived by her great-niece, Casandra Taylor of Little Rock.
There will be a graveside funeral service Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Forest Hills cemetery officiated by Reverend Gregory T. Luyet. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Joseph Wesley Brown
Joseph Wesley Brown, age 76, of Little Rock, past Chairman of the Board of AFCO Steel, and AFCO Metals, died Wednesday, December 3, 2002. Born in Little Rock, he was a graduate Sewanee Academy before attending the University of Colorado. Before graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering he joined the Navy serving during World War II. He was also a past board member of Commercial National Bank, and City of Little Rock Board of Directors. Joseph was an avid golfer and duck hunter with memberships at the Country Club of Little Rock, and Dog Island Duck Club. He also enjoyed spending weekends with his family at their summer home on Lake Hamilton. Joseph was the devoted head of a close knit extended family who greatly loved and respected him.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Thompson Brown of Little Rock, his brother Fred I. Brown and wife Patricia of Little Rock, two sons Joseph Willis Brown and wife Laurie of Olympia, Washington, Gilroy Brown and wife Patty of Searcy, three daughters; Josephine Osborne and husband Jim of Little Rock, Sarah Hopkins and husband Randy of Little Rock, Abigail Whiton Brown of Chicago, Illinois, and 6 grandchildren; Virginia and Henry Osborne, Catherine and Beth Hopkins; and Josh Brown, and Tracie Bartlett and husband Chance of Searcy. He is also predeceased by a granddaughter, Frances Hopkins. There will be a memorial service Thursday, at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of The Holy Souls Catholic Church officiated by Monsignor David le Sieur and Reverend Phillip Panackal. Burial of ashes will follow at Calvary cemetery under the direction Ruebel Funeral Home.

Michele H. Brunner
Michele H. Brunner, 55, of Little Rock died Tuesday, June 18, in Memphis. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX . She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and received her Masters Degree in social work from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She was a primary therapist at Arkansas Behavioral Health Care and was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-four years, Rob Brunner, one son, Jason Brunner, two brothers, and six sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Pulley.

Bobby Carter
Bobby Carter, age 80, retired Major, United States Marine Corp, of Little Rock, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas where he graduated from high school. In 1942 he joined the United States Marines Corp receiving his wings from aviation cadet school. He first flew single and twin engine aircraft and later jets. He served in World War II and the Korean War where he flew in and out of the Chosen Reservoir. After retiring from serving in the Marines in 1964 Bob received a degree in Forestry Services from the University of New Hampshire. He then worked for 10 years with the Utah State Forestry Service, moving to Little Rock in 1976, where he enjoyed golf and fishing.
He is survived by Nita Atkinson-Carter of Little Rock, two stepchildren Nathan E. Atkinson of Little Rock, Robert P. Atkinson and wife Linda of Benton, Arkansas, one nephew Bruce Wheat of Bennington, Vermont, one niece Linda McClentic of Rockland, Massachusetts, and predeceased by a sister Betty Wheat.
There will be a visitation Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home. There will be a graveside funeral service at 12 noon Monday at the Arkansas State Veteran's cemetery, North Little Rock. Arrangements under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Tracy Darrel Chandler, 37, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, November 20. He is survived by his mother Thelma Johnson Chandler, son Ozear Chandler, two sister-in-laws, Lena and Debbie, 8 sisters, 5 brothers, and a host of relatives. Theessa Katheryn Cook, 85 of North Little Rock, died Monday, February 2, 2002. Born in Little Rock, she was a retired secretary for Fones Brothers Stores.
Survivors are a sister-in-law Virginia S. Cook of North Little Rock, and nephew, Danny Cook and wife Sandra of Little Rock.

Marilyn Holt Cremeen
Marilyn Holt Cremeen, a long time resident of Little Rock, died Saturday, October 19, 2002. Marilyn was a nurse at Arkansas Children's Hospital for many years until her recent illness.
Marilyn is survived by her children; Beverly Cremeen and Thomas L. Cremeen, Jr., sisters; Ann H. Carpenter of New Braunfels, Texas and Judith Wentworth and husband Pat, of Buda, Texas, nieces and nephews; Cheryl Carpenter Doane of San Marcos, Texas, Paul Waits of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Cathy Carpenter Smith of New Braunfels, Texas, Brenda Waits Owen of Florida, Lisa Carpenter Prewitt of San Marcos, Texas, Jay Waits of Buda, Texas and Rebecca Carpenter Blomquist of Los Angeles, California.

William Thomas Dillard, age 87, of Little Rock, owner of Dillard's Department Store, died Friday, February 8, 2002. There will be a formal visitation on Sunday, February 10, from 2-4 pm. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 West Markham, Little Rock.
