Henry Clay Hansen
Henry Clay Hansen, age 90, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002. Mr. Hansen was a retired area sales manager for the Olin Chemical Corp.
He is survived by two daughters, Reverend Lynn Lindsey and husband Wayne of Little Rock, Dr. Anne Hansen of Little Rock, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Friday by a funeral service at 2 P.M. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Victor Nixon.
Jeane Dorough Hundley
Jeane Dorough Hundley, of Little Rock, died Thursday, December 5, 2002. She was a 5th Generation member of an Arkansas Pioneer family with origins in County Cork, Ireland and Wittlesburg, Germany. She attended Little Rock schools and two years at Little Rock Jr. College (now UALR) before meeting her future husband, Dr. Louis King Hundley, who was completing his medical residency at Ark. Children's Hospital. They were married
in Little Rock in 1933. They moved to Kansas, where Dr. Hundley did post-doctoral research at the Prince Eye Clinic in Kansas before becoming an Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. Subsequently, Dr. Hundley served four years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before the Hundleys made their home in Pine Bluff at the end of World War II. They resided there for 21 years, during which time they were both active in many charitable and Fine Arts Groups. They were members of the Pine Bluff Country Club and on the Board of Directors of the Pine Bluff Community Concert Association. Dr. and Mrs Hundley, with their daughters, belonged to Lakeside Methodist Church and were teachers of the Rev. L.E.N. Hundley Sunday School where Dr. Hundley's father once served as Pastor. They returned to Little Rock in 1964, and Dr. Hundley was a member of the Department of Opthalmology clinical faculty at UAMS until his death in 1966.
Mrs. Hundley was a devoted homemaker and, at the same time, used her considerable talents in support of her husband's medical profession. She had a long and devoted volunteer career with many local, state and national charitable organizations. She served on the Boards of Directors for the National Association for Infantile Paralysis, President of the Auxiliary of the Southern Medical Association, Arkansas Medical Auxiliary, Jefferson County Medical Society, and the Pine Bluff Junior Auxiliary. Volunteer efforts with crippled children and in organizing volunteers for the Salk polio vaccine field trials in Arkansas earned her an Arkansas Traveler Certificate from Governor Faubus and a citation from Dr. Jonas Salk for outstanding work with the Polio Foundation. Additionally, she was cited for her outstanding contribution to the Arkansas Academy of Family Practice.
After the death of her husband in 1966, Mrs. Hundley was Executive Director of the Arkansas Caduceus Club since its inception in 1969. Former Dean of Medicine, the late Winston K. Shorey, envisioned a campus clearing house for professional and alumni relations and appointed Mrs. Hundley to direct its organization, which she did until she retired at the age of 75. She was a member of the Little Rock Alumni Club of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, a Sustaining Member of the Little Rock Junior League, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Society and the Little Rock Chamber Music Society.
Survivors include: two daughters, Nancy Hundley McKenzie, widow of Dr. Charles Norman McKenzie, of Little Rock and Kay Hundley Fisher, wife of Robert Martin Fisher of San Francisco; grand-daughter, Leslie McKenzie Santillo, her husband Jerry Santillo of Atlanta; grandsons Robert M. Fisher, Jr. and wife, Susan Armacost Fisher of London, England, William Louis Fisher of Burlingame, Calif., and Gregory Andrew Fisher and wife, Yvonne Kiggens Fisher of Kentfield, Calif. Mrs. Hundley was Great Grandmother to seven children. One brother, William Murphy Dorough and his wife, Frances Shimek Dorough live in Little Rock Their daughter, Mrs. Hundley's niece, Ann Dorough, and her husband, Greg Uekman reside in Maryland.
Mrs. Hundley remained an ardent Razorback fan, bridge player, world traveler. She continued to enjoy her myriad friendships with people of all ages, for whom she enjoyed entertaining in her home throughout her life. Her collection of antiques reflected her family which has been in Arkansas for seven generations. Mrs. Hundley was a resident at Parkway Village and a member of Little Rock First United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. at Graceland cemetery in Pine Bluff officiated by Reverend Jeanie Burton, followed by a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, at 3 P.M. Tuesday, December 12th. Honorary Pallbearers include: Winston Faulkner, Dr. Randall Hundley, John Gill, Danny Thomas, Clint Burleson, Wayne Cranford, Dr. Harry Ward, Dr. John Schock and Gordon Wittenberg. Funeral arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home.
A reception for Mrs. Hundley's family will be held immediately following the services In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to First United Methodist Church or Baptist Hospital Hospice.
Phillip Wayne Joiner
Phillip Wayne Joiner, age 39, of Little Rock, died August 17, 2002. He was born in Little Rock. Phil was a graduate of Pelham High School in Birmingham, Alabama before graduating from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama with a degree in Building Science. He later received his MBA from Webster University. Phil will be missed by a host of family and friends who will miss the laughter he brought to their lives. He was a wonderful father, son, brother and friend to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his father Ralph P. Joiner of Nashville, Tennessee, his mother Vivian Joiner Ball and husband Roy of Little Rock, one daughter Marina Catalina Joiner of Little Rock, one sister Kelli Joiner of Little Rock, his maternal grandmother Ora Wilkerson Davis and husband Val of Little Rock and his paternal grandmother Lola Joiner of Nashville. Tennessee.
There will be a visitation reception Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Thursday with a graveside funeral service at 10 A.M. at Pinecrest cemetery officiated by Reverend Fred W. Hunter. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Ralph Edwin Jones
Ralph Edwin Jones, age 72, of Little Rock, died Thursday, December 26, 2002. Ralph was born in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas. After graduating from high school in Mabelvale he joined the Air Force serving in Great Britain, where he met and married
Betty Murray. They were later transferred to New Mexico where their son Carl was born. After the service Ralph and family returned to Arkansas where he graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He was awarded a B.S. degree in Sociology. He began working for the University of Arkansas Social Services Department and in 1961 began working with the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services in Little Rock, retiring in 1993. Ralph enjoyed being with his family, deer hunting, fishing and especially working on his land in West Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife Betty Murray Jones of Little Rock, his mother Anna Belle Buchanan of Quitman, Arkansas, one son, Carl R. Jones and wife Natalie of Little Rock, two sisters, Clara Norris and husband Harry of Quitman, Frances Jackson and husband Jackie of Little Rock, one grandchild Jason R. Jones and wife Mary, and two great-grandchildren, Drake R. Jones and Corwyn E. Jones.
There will be a memorial service Saturday at 11 A.M. at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Jay Weaver.

Fredrik Brent Knutson
Fredrik Brent Knutson, 60, of Little Rock, died May 20, 2002. Born on September 4, 1941, in Everett, Washington, he was the son of Frederick Eugene and Dorothy Hunt Knutson. He attended school in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington; he graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1963.
He entered the Claremont Graduate School, graduating with a Ph.D. in Religious Studies in 1970. Specializing in Assyriology, he translated letters from Ras Shamra for his dissertation, becoming proficient in the process in Languages such as Cuneiform, Hebrew, New Testament Greek, and German. He joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1971, teaching Hebrew as well as courses in the Old and New Testaments, Ancient Near Eastern Religions, Islam and the Modern Middle East, and the History of Christian Thought. He served as chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies from 1981 to 1989. Although he had a severe stroke in 1989, he continued to teach one course a semester. When he died, he was happily teaching himself Sumarian and working on his scholarly passion, a monograph on attitudes toward the poor in the Ancient Near East. He had the coolest books.
He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Lander Knutson, of Little Rock, his mother, Dorothy Knutson of West Covina, California, his brother, Brian Knutson of Tacoma, Washington, his sister, Barbara Lindberg of West Covina, California; his sons, Brent R. Knutson and wife Jeanette of Boise, Idaho, Nathan B. (Knutson) Kaplan of Reno, Nevada; his step- children, Roslyn Donald and husband Garin Hiebert, of Redwood City, California, Ford Donald and wife Lisa, of Flower Mound, Texas, and two granddaughters, Hailey H. Knutson and Margaret E. Donald.
There was a memorial funeral service Thursday at 11 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will follow at Roselawn cemetery. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.

Norman William "Skip" Marshall
Norman William "Skip" Marshall, 70, inventor, innovator, communicator, developer, advisor, and consultant, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, November 13, 2002. He was born in Tacoma, Washington. In his youth, he was a violin prodigy and virtuoso. He was a graduate from Stadium High School in Tacoma before receiving his BA degree and later receiving his MBA from Washington State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the Security Division, specializing in Russian communication interception. While in Korea he served with great valor under fire. After the service be was employed with the Weyerhaeuser Corporation, managing the Wood and Products Division for 18 years. While at Weyerhaeuser Skip invented and holds the patent for Pres-To-Log, a wood bi-product compressed into a fire starting log and developed numerous other innovative uses for wood byproducts. He was Weyerhaeuser Corporation's representative to the National Alliance of Businesses. He left Weyerhaeuser in 1973 to start his own business, Pro-Mart, a lumber yard in Tacoma. He also taught small business management at the University of Puget Sound where he later served as Associate Dean of Vocational Education. He was the author of four business related books and a very active business consultant. As Deacon and ordained Lay Minister at St. Patrick's Catholic Parish in Tacoma, Skip worked very closely with the area prison outreach program. Once out of the lumber business, he became security manager for Wackenhut Security Services in Washington and Maine. Later in Maine he was assistant manager of the Lawnmeer Inn in Boothbay Harbor. Skip also tested and evaluated business tax software for Arthur Anderson Corporation. In 1995 he moved to Little Rock, assuming the position of Associate Monitor with the federal Office of Desegregation Monitoring until 2000. He then worked with the Arkansas School Boards Association, serving as Researcher and Legislative Liaison. Skip was known and admired for his sense of humor, positive energy and creative talent, and enduring love of family, friends, and the Lord he served.
Skip is survived by his wife, Ann Stevenson Marshall of Little Rock; his son Kevin William Marshall and wife Cindy of Belfair, Washington; daughter Karen Ann Marshall of Seattle; Jane Stevenson Brown of Walnut, California; Elizabeth Calvert Wahl and husband Matthew of Little Rock; Jonathan M. and Andrew J. Brown of Little Rock; one sister, Teddy Louise Lazares and husband John of Olalla, Washington, and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services are today, Saturday, at 11 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral officiated by The Very Reverend Henry Hudson. Burial will follow at Marcus Hill cemetery north of Enola, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Beth Becker McMullin
Beth Becker McMullin, age 72, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 27, 2002. She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. She later graduated from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in Micro Biology, and Zoology. She married
Carleton McMullin while at the University. After Carleton's military service they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and while he was finishing his schooling she managed a medical lab. They later moved to McAlester, Oklahoma for three years and Oakridge, Tennessee for 12 years. While in Oakridge she worked for the Oakridge National Laboratory. They moved to Little Rock in 1973 and in 1979 she and her husband purchased the Precision Tune now called Precision Tune Auto Care, of which they operated 11stores and seven franchises in 4 States.
Beth is survived by her husband Carleton McMullin of Little Rock, two daughters Cindy Williams and husband Doyle, Charis Brady and husband John, all of Little Rock, one sister Jean Saylor and husband Weldon of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 3 grandchildren, Erin and Blake Williams and Lucas Brady.

Maulsia "Marcie" Christen O'Neal
Maulsia "Marcie" Christen O'Neal, age 88, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. She was born in Little Rock where she graduated from Little Rock High School. She became the bookkeeper for the late James Cornett, M.D. retiring after 15 years of service. Marcie was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and a member of the Oak Forest Garden Club.
She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Ebbing and husband Jack of Wye Mountain, Arkansas, Deborah Jones and husband Donald of Plano, Texas, one son Jerry O'Neal and wife Patricia of Russellville, Arkansas, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside funeral service Thursday at 10 A.M. at Pinecrest cemetery officiated by Reverend Kurt Boggan, followed by a memorial service at 11 A.M. at Highland Valley United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

John Francis Orsi
John Francis Orsi, age 65, of Little Rock, died Monday, September 23, 2002. John was born in Utica, New York. He was a graduate of Episcopal High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, later attending Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. He served in the U. S. Army, 1958-59, stationed in Germany. He married
Robin Nichols in 1961 and worked for Dunn and Bradstreet in Pennsylvania and Little Rock. John and Anne moved to Des Arc, Arkansas in 1965 where he began working with his father-in-law, S. R. Nichols, moving to Little Rock in 2002. John was also a real estate appraiser for 30 plus years. He was a member and past Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Des Arc, a member of the North Pulaski Board of Realtors, a charter member of the Grand Prairie Country Club, a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club, and a past board member of Youth Ranch in Batesville. He was an avid golfer and active with Des Arc political and civic concerns.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Anne Robinson "Robin" Nichols Orsi of Little Rock, two daughters Anne Orsi Smith and husband Fletcher of Little Rock, Susan Orsi Schoessel of Little Rock, one son Jay Orsi and wife Ally of Little Rock, one brother Thomas A. Orsi and wife Jackie of Morrow, Ohio, one sister Betsy Orsi Fennig and husband Fred of Des Arc, and five grandchildren Andrew and Austin Schoessel, Jack Smith, Kristin and Laura Katherine Orsi.

Alice Ann Conway Papan
Alice Ann Conway Papan, 74, died Monday, November 18, 2002. Born in Little Rock October 25, 1928, daughter of the late Claibourne Watkins Conway and the late Mildred Hollis Conway, she was a descendant of many pioneer Arkansas families, including the Curran, Sevier, Watkins, Hollis, and Taliaferro families, and was the great granddaughter of the first governor of the State of Arkansas, James Sevier Conway, and the great, great granddaughter of Arkansas' last Territorial Governor and first U. S. Senator, William Savin Fulton. Mrs. Papan attended Little Rock High School, St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Virginia, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was affiliated with Chi Omega Fraternity. She continued to be very active with the Little Rock Chi Omega Alumnae Club, in which she held many chairmanships. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America and served for several years as a Troop Leader. A lifetime member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she was a former member of the Vestry, Mrs. Papan was much involved with Episcopal Church Women, serving as chairman of St. Agnes Guild, decorations chairman for parish functions, and on the Hospitality Committee Mrs. Papan was a member of The Arkansas Society of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, and was the organization's program chairman for many years. For more than 30 years Mrs. Papan was employed by Little Rock Dermatology Clinic.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Curran and Ellen Papan of Little Rock, a daughter and son-in-law, Leslee and Kelly Brown of Fayetteville, three granddaughters, Kristin Papan of Little Rock, and Natalie and Madeline Brown of Fayetteville. She is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolynn Conway Coleman and Walter C. "Buddy" Coleman, Jr., and, Hollis Conway Kennedy and James N. Kennedy, Jr., all of Little Rock, and seven nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st. The funeral service will be at Christ Episcopal Church, at 5th and Scott, on Friday, the 22nd, at 10:00 A. M. with the Rev. Larry Benfield officiating. Pallbearers will be Jamie Crews, Clay Crews, Buddy Coleman, Kim Kennedy, Kelly Brown, Clay Patty, Paul Green, and Frank Park. Following the church service, burial will be at Mt. Holly cemetery at 12th and Broadway. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Fifth & Scott, L.R., the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, L.R. or the Chi Omega Foundation, P. 0.
