Geneva Ivanette Rinehart Oates
Geneva Ivanette Rinehart Oates, 88, passed away in her home on Friday, May 23, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Rinehart and Jesse Newton Rinehart; a sister, Carrie Huggins; a daughter, Joan Marie Oates; a son, Arthur Taylor Oates; and her husband, Lee Oates. She is survived by two daughters, Jane Marsh of Redfield, and Sue and Johnny Little of Redfield; three sons, Jerry and Edith Oates of Sheridan, Bill and Lou Ann Oates of Redfield, and Fred and Donna Oates of Redfield; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Eloise Durham of Fairfield Bay, and Gladys Reynolds of Hensley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Geneva was a member of the Redfield Eastern Star, the Redfield Senior Citizens, and a lifelong member of Redfield United Methodist Church. She was born in Hensley, Arkansas on July 25, 1914, and was raised in Redfield. She graduated from Redfield High School. She married
Lee Oates on November 3, 1934, and spent her life as a mother and homemaker. In her later years, she spent her time crocheting foot warmers for local area nursing home residents. She also enjoyed reading from her large collection of cookbooks. She cherished her family and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a dedicated Christian.
A Celebration of Her Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, at 2 :00 pm at Redfield United Methodist Church in Redfield, Arkansas. Mrs. Oates will be lying in state at Ruebel Funeral Home Sunday, from 2:00 - 4:30 pm. Family visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday at Redfield United Methodist Church prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at the Redfield cemetery.

Reverend Orr Davis “O.D.” Peters
The Reverend Orr Davis “O.D.” Peters, age 91, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2003. He was born July 19, 1911, in the Springhill Community of Johnson County, Arkansas. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in English before graduating with honors from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Reverend Peters served in an active capacity as an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church for 65 years. He served churches in Clarksville, Farmington, Hackett, Alma, Greenwood, Springhill (Texas), Charleston, Augusta, Dardanelle, Piggott, Pea Ridge, and Little Rock; serving at Capitol View United Methodist Church, and as associate minister at Pulaski Heights United Methodist church from 1965 until his retirement in 1995 and then as pastor emeritus until his death. He was also a former Chairman of the Board of Pensions of The North Arkansas Conference, former Chairman of The Television, Radio and Films Commission, and former member of the Board of Ministry of Little Rock Conference.
He loved his church and dedicated his life to serving the needs of his fellow man, and he loved nature and the outdoors, enjoying camping with his Good Sam friends, trout fishing, turkey hunting and best of all duck hunting with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Cline Peters, and his daughter, Margaret Peters Wilson. He is survived by one son George Peters and wife Diane, one grandson, George Peters, Jr., and wife Maria Elena and one great-grandson, George Edwards Angel Peters, all of Little Rock.
There will be a visitation Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 P.M. at Ruebel Funeral Home followed Monday with a funeral service at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church at 11 A.M. officiated by Reverend Victor Nixon and Reverend Lynn Lindsey. Micki Gibson Pitcher
Micki Gibson Pitcher, 83, of Little Rock, passed away in her home early Tuesday morning, March 18th. She was born November 5, 1919 in Arley, Alabama.
Mrs. Pitcher will be deeply missed by her survivors: her daughter, Patti Pitcher of Las Vegas, NV, her sister, Mrs. Melvin Diffee and her brother, B. Lecil Gibson both of Little Rock; and 2 grandchildren, Robin Rachal-Gray of Chicago, IL and Lee Rachal of Orlando, FL.
Awaiting her arrival in heaven are her husband, Warrant Officer Frank N. Pitcher, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Gibson, her sister, Mrs. Jack Phillips and her brother, James "Gibby" Gibson.
The family will be at Ruebel Funeral Home on Thursday, March 20, from 6pm to 8pm to receive family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21st at 11am at the Little Rock National cemetery. The Rev. Jack P. Phillips will officiate.
Teresa Marie Metrailer Powers
Teresa Marie Metrailer Powers, 84, passed away quietly on May 28, 2003. She was born April 26, 1919 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the third of five children born to Camille Frank Metrailer and Theresa Adleina Ruff Metrailer. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Camille Anthony Metrailer and Joseph Francis Metrailer; sister, Marguerite Elizabeth Metrailer Fransioli; and special friend, John Northern.
She is survived by a sister, Mildred Ann Metrailer Buddenberg of North Little Rock; nephews, Dr. James Metrailer of Little Rock, J. Frederick Metrailer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Albert Metrailer of Dallas, Texas; nieces, Camille Annette Metrailer Kagy of Little Rock, Marguerite Elizabeth Fransioli Bunchman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary Ann Buddenberg Miller of Bloomfield, New Jersey; plus numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
In her early days, Teresa grew up at 906 McGowan Street and attended St. Edward's Parochial School and Little Rock Central High School. She worked at an optical shop for a number of years and later opened her own business as Little Rock Optical on Capitol Street in Little Rock. Teresa was one of the first women business owners in Little Rock.
Funeral will be held at 1:00p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2003 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Reverend Lawrence A. Frederick officiating. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Powers great-nephews. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery adjacent to her mother.
Phillip M. Price
Phillip Price, 70, of Maumelle went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2003. He was born in Bryan, TX, on October 16, 1932. Survivors are his wife, Marge; daughter, Susan, and her husband, Darrell Powell; and their children, Allison and Shawn of Azle, TX; his sister, Linda, and her husband, Jack Crawford of Irving, TX; a niece, Pam, and her husband Eugene Oard; and a nephew, Russell Rubac and his wife, Susan. He was preceded in death by his son, David. After graduating from Texas A&M University, he was a civil engineer in Texas and California from 1954-1967, with two years, serving as an officer with the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He remained a member of the Texas A&M University Former Student Association until death. From 1967-1983 he served on staff with Campus Crusade. He was a pastor at Christ Community Church in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1983-1989. As pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, he encouraged many people from 1990-1995. In 1995 he and Marge retired to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where he continued to disciple men.
Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Friday, January 31, at Ruebel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in the Special Events Center at Fellowship Bible Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, with David Bruns and Ray Williams officiating. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Fort Worth, TX, on Monday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Jim Edwards officiating. James Douglas "G.P." Robinson
James Douglas "G.P." Robinson, age 67, of Little Rock, died Saturday, July 26, 2003. He was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, later graduating from high school at Norview High School in Norfolk, Virginia. He received his BS in Sociology from King College in Bristol, Tennessee. He also attended Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He became active in the insurance after school and was presently employed with the Hardin and Wilson Insurance Company. He was very active in his community serving over 30 years with the Optimist Club of Central Arkansas, becoming an honorary life member. He loved his family, coaching baseball at the Boy's Club, and golf. He was a member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church and was a past Deacon and Elder with the church.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette White Robinson of Little Rock, one daughter Beth Jaworski and husband Andy of Berlin, Germany, one son Bryan Robinson and wife Barbara of Little Rock, two brothers; Walter A. Robinson, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia, William B. Robinson and wife Barbara of Virginia Beach, Virginia, four grandchildren; Amanda and Lindsay Jaworski and Taylor and Tipton Robinson.

Robert Lafayette Robinson, Jr.
Robert Lafayette Robinson, Jr. age 60, of Little Rock, died Monday, January 6, 2003. He was a graduate of Newport High School, Hendrix College (B.A. 1954) and received his law degree from Vanderbilt University, (LL.B. 1967), Phi Alpha Delta; Blue Key. He was the Senior Partner in the law firm of Robinson, Staley, Marshall, and Duke, practicing law for 36 years since 1967. He was a member of the Pulaski County Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, and American Bar Association (Litigation Section). Robinson was also a member of the Volunteer Organization for Central Arkansas Legal Services (VOCALS), the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association; Defense Research Institute; Fellow, Arkansas Bar Association. Robinson served in the Arkansas Army National Guard (1967-1974) as a First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He was past president of the local Exchange Club, an International Civic Organization. Robinson served as Board chairman of the Central YMCA in 1985-86 and was a Volunteer of the Year in 1983 for Central Branch of the YMCA. He was a member of the Country Club of Little Rock and First United Methodist Church. Robinson was an avid golfer, a devoted grandfather, a sports car enthusiast and bird watcher. Bob was truly a lawyer’s lawyer and will be deeply and dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lafayette Robinson, Sr. of Newport, Arkansas and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Jane Jamison Robinson of Little Rock, his mother, Sina Reaves Robinson of Newport, one brother Bee Robinson of Panama City, Florida, one son, Robert L. Robinson, IV and wife Leigh Anne of Little Rock, two daughters, Ahron Couey and husband Paul of Austin, Texas, Mary Claire Roberts and husband Charlie of Little Rock, 3 grandchildren, Emma Robinson, Reaves Robinson and Thomas Roberts all of Little Rock.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. at First United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Jeanie Burton. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Jimmy Richard Sayles
LTC (Ret.) Jimmy R. Sayles, 63, of North Little Rock and Eureka Springs, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2003. Jimmy served 34 years in the Arkansas Army National Guard, retiring in 1993. He was assigned to STARC (-) AR ARNG at Camp Robinson. He was the S3 of 212 Signal Battalion Headquarters and was the Executive Officer for the 212 Signal Battalion. He also served as the Company Commander for D Company and was OSHA certified. At the time of his retirement, he was the Director and Civil Engineer for the Installation Support Unit at Camp Robinson. For the past seven years, Jimmy has served in the capacity of Director of Environmental Services for the Eureka Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carol Diane Sayles; brothers Don Sayles of Hensley; Phillip Sayles of Jacksonville; daughters Dana Wiggins of Booneville; Tamara Rees of Jonesboro; Leslie Kerr of North Little Rock; son Raymond Scott Brown of Hot Springs. Jimmy was the proud grandfather of 6 ½ grandchildren, Grant and Chase Wiggins; Reagan, Kendal, and baby Zachary Mark Rees to be born in January; Lanie and Joshua Kerr. Jimmy will be greatly missed by a host of very close friends and family.
There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Ruebel Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 am, September 24, 2003 at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock with Rev. Larry B. Henderson officiating. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Joseph A. Scerbo Sr.
Joseph A. Scerbo, Sr., of Little Rock, died Saturday, March 15, 2003. He was born in Italy, and at the age of 16, came to America. After 50 years in the retail floral business in Jersey City, New Jersey he and his wife Anna moved to Little Rock in 1997. He loved to maintain a vegetable garden, which include two hundred tomato plants. He would often share his bounty with family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church, and a life long member of the Sons of Italy. Joseph is survived by his wife Anna Maria Aloi Scerbo of Little Rock, three son; Fred Scerbo and wife Pat of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, Joseph Scerbo and wife Judi of Little Rock, Frank Scerbo and wife Sue of Birmingham, Michigan, nine grandchildren; Gina Bilger, Denise Zemanovich, Gerilyn Aspres, Lori Scerbo, Heidi Iversen, Jennifer Fehr, James Scerbo, Holly Scerbo, and Joseph Scerbo, and 9 great-grandchildren. There will be a Rosary held Monday evening at 7pm at the Ruebel Funeral Home followed Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church at 11 am, officiated by Reverend Greg Luyet and Reverend Jack Vu. Howard T. Shepherd
Howard T. Shepherd, of Little Rock died Friday, September 26 at his home. He was born May 16, 1918 in Little Rock to Mary Lee Thurmond and Joshua Kemp Shepherd.
He had successfully graduated from New Mexico Military Institute, Washington & Lee University, New York Insurance Institute, National Graduate Trust School, The Kennedy-Sinclaire Trust Sales Class, Officer Candidate School and various Air Force and Selective Service System Schools.
He served four years active duty in Army Air Corps during World War II and had 32 years of total reserve duty retiring as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve and Commanding Officer of the Reserve Component - Selective Service System. He was awarded Selective Service System Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal.
Mr. Shepherd was a member of the Trinity Cathedral. He was a president of the Shepherd & Company, Fire Insurance Managing General Agents; Vice president of Shepherd & Company, Fire and Casualty Affiliate of National Union Insurance Companies; Resident Secretary and Manager for Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Western Tennessee for National Union Insurance Companies of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Trust officer with Worthen Bank & Trust Co. and a Trust Officer with Union National.
Mr. Shepherd was a member of The Country Club of Little Rock, The Capitol Club of Little Rock; Retired Officers Association; Little Rock Life Underwriters; Little Rock Air Force Base Community Council (Treasurer); Central Arkansas Estate Council; Little Rock Chamber of Commerce (Past Committee Chairman); YMCA (Past Chairman of Metropolitan Board); Arkansas Reserve Officers Association (Past President); Kappa Phi Kappa (Honorary); Ada Thompson Home for the Elderly (Treasurer); and Board Member of Roselawn cemetery Board.
He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed water sports, calisthenics, weightlifting and gardening.
Mr. Shepherd is survived by his wife of 58 years Margaret Ohm Shepherd, son Stephen Kemp Shepherd and wife Ruth Darrow of Little Rock, grandchildren, Stephanie Shepherd of Devils Tower, WY and Paul D. Shepherd of Austin, TX, a niece, Mary Lou Rife of Graeagle, CA, and a nephew, H. Lee Ambrose of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Marion Shepherd Ambrose.
There will be a gathering at the family's home, 311 Normandy Rd., Little Rock, on Tuesday, September 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the Oncology Nurses at St. Vincent Infirmary and Arkansas Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
