Betty Jo Chrisman Martin
Betty Jo Chrisman Martin, a long-time Little Rock resident departed this life on April 18, 2006. Betty was raised in Ft. Smith and attended Ft. Smith Junior College and Centre College in Kentucky. She worked at Camp Chaffee before her marriage, and resumed her career after raising a family. Betty retired after 10 years with the Arkansas Department of Revenue.
She was predeceased by her husband John D. Martin, and sisters Pauline Joyce and Florene Bryan. She is survived by son Dow Martin and wife Susie, daughter Lisa Swann and husband Doug, and daughter Martha Martin. She will be missed by grandchildren Mary Catherine, Jimmy and Andrew Martin; Jeff, Jonathan and Justin Swann; and Alex Martin-Mut.
Betty was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where a chapel service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society or Methodist Church.
The family appreciates the loving support of niece, Candi Russell, caregivers Brenda and Kameka Dean, and Betty’s companion Godfrey and a very special thanks to daughter-in-law, Susie Martin for all her loving care.

Charles Irwin "Charlie" Martin, Sr.
Charles Irwin “Charlie” Martin, Sr., age 78, of Little Rock died at the Pleasant Valley Living Center on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 14, 1927 in DeWitt to Porter E. and Stella Martin, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1948. He had a productive career in sales, retiring from the Washington Manufacturing Company. Charles was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Triune Sunday School Class.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty McLaughlin Martin, of Little Rock; son Charles Irwin Martin, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Lisa, of Arlington, TX; and daughter, Beverly Martin, of Little Rock; grandsons, Brett McCormack, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and Keith and Gregory McCormack of Little Rock, and Charles Irwin Martin III and granddaughter, Audrey Paige Martin, both of Arlington, TX, and sister-in-law, Dorothea Martin, of Alexander. He was preceded in death by brothers, Porter E. and Wylie S. Martin, and sister, Ruth Martin.
There will be a visitation Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Ruebel Chapel officiated by Rev. Louann Averitt Murphy and Rev. David Steele. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
James Howard "Rock" Mason
James Howard “Rock” Mason, age 49, of North Little Rock died February 4, 2006. He was born in Pine Bluff, AR on May 11, 1956 to Nadine Smith Mason and the Late Howard William Mason. He was an electronic maintenance tech with Molex.
He is survived by his mother, Nadine Mason; son, Brent Mason and his wife, Stephanie; two brothers, Joe Mason and William Mason; a sister, Iris Brockette; and grandson, Cameron Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home, burial will follow at Olive Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Beulah Nelson "BeBe" Mawhinney
Beulah Nelson “BeBe” Mawhinney, age 91 of Little Rock, died March 21, 2006. She was born Coalgate, Oklahoma. Beulah was known for her giggle and positive outlook on life. One of her favorite sayings was, “Live on, live on Child, until you come home.”
She is predeceased by her husband William Henderson Mawhinney who died in 1991, a son Robert Nelson Mawhinney, and great-grandson, Maxwell “Max” Montgomery. Beulah is survived by two daughters; Janis Montgomery and husband Glenn of Little Rock, Gayle Mawhinney of Little Rock, one son, William Henderson Mawhinney of Little Rock, four grandchildren; Blake Montgomery, Melissa Jacob, William Mawhinney, III, Clark Mawhinney, and four great-grandchildren; Miles Montgomery, Anna Claire Jacob, Kathryn Jacob and Jake Mawhinney.
There will be a visitation Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at Ruebel Funeral Home followed Thursday with a graveside service at 11am at Rose Lawn cemetery officiated by Reverend Clefton Vaughn. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

William Clinton "Mac" McDonald
William Clinton “Mac” McDonald, age 91 of Little Rock, died Monday, February 27, 2006. Mac was born in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock High School and attended Little Rock Junior College. After his schooling he began working for the Western Newspaper Union. After World War II began he joined the U.S. Army in 1942 serving in the European Campaign and North Africa. At war’s end he returned to Little Rock and worked through the ranks to become general operating manager for Western Paper Company. In 1950 he met and married
his wife Marcele Roberts. In 1957, during the Little Rock School Crisis, he was appointed to the Little Rock School Board and was elected in 1959 serving as president during part of his time in office which ended in 1966. In 1967 Mac co founded and ran Fine Papers, Inc. until his retirement in 1982. He served his community as well as a member of the Health and Welfare Council of the Chamber of Commerce and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Mac loved playing golf and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Marcele Roberts McDonald of Little Rock, one son; William Clinton McDonald, Jr. and wife Jo Ellen of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Ann Marie McDonald Lane of Dallas, Texas, and 7 grandchildren; Allison Ann, Lindi, Will and Micha McDonald, Russ Lane and Rob Lane and wife Marli.
There will be a visitation Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at Ruebel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11am officiated by Danny Burleson, at Pine Crest Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Thomas A. McLarty
Thomas A. McLarty, of Little Rock, died February 5, 2006. Tom was born in Nashville, Ark on April 9, 1928 to Amy and Hardy McLarty. Tom graduated from Nashville High School and Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. While at Hendrix, Tom was a cheerleader and a member of BLUE KEY. Tom served in the US Air Force during the Korean era. Tom worked in Retail management with Montgomery Wards and CR Anthony Company until his retirement.
Tom is survived by his brother Jay H. McLarty of Little Rock; long time companion and friend Marilyn Williams of Little Rock; Daughter, Barbara Thompson of Bixby, Oklahoma; sons John McLarty and wife Kris of Rogers, Arkansas and Steven McLarty and wife Cari of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grand children and two great grand children. Tom was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Little Rock, burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home.

Sidney A. Newcomb
Sidney A. Newcomb, 87, of Little Rock died on Thursday, February 23, 2006. He was born in Little Rock, the only child of S.J. and Martha West Newcomb. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and attended Cornell University. He married
Lillian Donohue on November 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death on June 15, 1997. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. From 1947-1962 he was sales manager for Arkansas Traveler Boats for the U.S. and Canada before serving as President of Newcomb Corp. until his retirement in 1972. From 1972 to 1981 he was employed by Mechanics Lumber Company. During the years from 1984-1996 he served as a Justice of the Peace for Pulaski County, District 6. He was a former member of the Little Rock Sales & Marketing Club and the Little Rock Country Club. He was also past director of the Arkansas Lumber Dealers Assn and director and charter member of the Arkansas Marine Trade Assn and Texas Marine Trade Assn.
Sid is survived by his children, Robert Newcomb and his wife Nancy of Little Rock, Brian Newcomb of Menlo Park, CA, Deirdre Newcomb, Barry Newcomb and his wife Louise, Kevin Newcomb and his wife Daina, and Daryl Newcomb all of Little Rock and his three grandchildren Bailey Newcomb and Brodie and Neil Newcomb.
There will be a private burial prior to a visitation to be held from 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Ruebel Funeral Home. Anne Spenceley O'Brien
Anne Spenceley O'Brien died peacefully at home on January 3, 2006, after a six-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Anne was born in London, England, of Welsh parents. She grew up in Ramsgate on the southeast coast of England. From her bedroom window Anne looked out over the English Channel's white cliffs. On clear days she could see the coast of France. In her early childhood the Battle of Britain raged over her home. She experienced gas masks, air-raid shelters, blackouts, and the sounds of German rockets during World War II.
She was educated in Ramsgate, Canterbury, and Folkestone and graduated as a registered nurse from St. George's Hospital in London. She immigrated to America and practiced nursing at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. There she met and married
her husband, Michael. They settled in Norfolk, Va.
Anne converted to Catholicism and became active in her church as a lector at mass and member of her parish council. After moving to Arkansas she practiced home health nursing and became a naturalized US citizen. Anne loved golf and was an enthusiastic participant in several women's golf associations. She was an accomplished swimmer and as a young girl trained to swim the English Channel. Her English homemaking skills were unequaled.
As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Anne's capacity for selfless love knew no bounds. She was the best of Earth, the center of our lives, and the the treasure of our hearts. We will miss her profoundly.
Anne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael; two daughters, Jennifer and her husband Patrick Hays of Alexandria, Va., Megan and her husband Peter Baker of Little Rock; two sons, Matthew and his wife Elaina of Hana, Hawaii, Christopher O'Brien of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, James, Michael, and Abigail Anne Hays.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at www.ovarian.org.

Mitchell Shane Patrick
Mitchell Shane Patrick, age 27, of Conway passed away February 14, 2006.
He was born on November 17, 1978. He is survived by his son, Raiden Gage Patrick; mother, Sandy Harris and her husband, E.J.; father, Larry Patrick and his wife Kathy, grandmother, Katy Vinsonhaler; sister, Shelly James and brother, Shawn Patrick and a host of relatives and friends. Shane was a loving father and very committed to his family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday in the chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home with Father Warren Harvey officiating.

Joshua Lange Pawelak
Joshua Lange Pawelak, age 22, of Little Rock, died Saturday, February 11, 2006. He was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 10, 1983.
Josh was baptized at two weeks of age at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio by Father Charles Blasen, SM, and was later confirmed Francis at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew here in Little Rock by Bishop McDonald. Josh was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church.
A 2002 graduate of Catholic High School, where he played trombone in the Jazz Band, Josh was an engineering major at UALR, after having attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Josh enjoyed buying, repairing, and selling old cars of all kinds, but especially Camaros. A sweet and sensitive young man who loved animals, he had many close friends.
Josh was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Bernard Lange; and paternal grandparents, Casimer and Jean Pawelak.
Survivors include his mother, Dr. Bernadette Lange Rieger and husband David of Little Rock; father, James Pawelak of Little Rock; a brother, Benjamin Joseph Lange Pawelak of Philadelphia, Penn.; paternal uncle, Jerome Pawelak of Gurnee, Ill.; maternal aunts and uncles, George Lange of Midland, Tex., Karen Brickey of Boerne, Tex., Christopher Lange of San Antonio, Tex., and Father Maurice Lange, OMI, of Godfrey, Ill.; maternal grandmother, Eunice Marie Lange of Moore, Tex.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, officiated by Father Maurice Lange, OMI. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Justice, Illinois, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Catholic High School.
